I performed in my concert today. I am a professional flutist. This is the first concert in which I sang as a soloist (not part of a choir)

A surprise treat: my vocal coach came to hear me. All smiles after the concert.

    Here's the program:

Now I'm so wound up I can't sleep.
  • smarty. Evie is getting so big. Seems like you were just posting pics from hospital

Holeinone. Let your family stay at the motel. I know we still want to do the same things we used to but don't wipe yourself out and be too miserable to enjoy their company.

    Hugs

Holeinone, yay for company! Double yay for hotel! You will be able to enjoy everyone so much more with "down time" when you need it. Hostessing is a fulltime job! All that "stuff" they give us that hurts more the better it works....who planned it that way? Geez!

Susan, hope your treatment is being gentle on you image

Lookie, I still keep thinking you're having troubles at a casino or something....darn Reno! Riding with the windows down and singing to the radio ~ best way to travel!

Loverly, You have froggies! What a happy garden image Has your DH been able to email or call? He'll be so proud of Mitzy when he gets home. You've both been on a mission :-)

Patty, So exciting to see you posting - you are one of The "Rockstars" of the BCO boards. Wow! I hope those hospital people are treating you like the royalty you are image

Sas, I've been taking notes from your advice and doing research. Thank you! I read your postings on CYP2D6 and went on to look up more info from my YouScript report. I am normal 1/1 on CYP2D6 and was able to stay on Tamoxifen for 2 years. Now I'm on Letrozole/Femara. My CYP2C19 is 17/17 Ultra Rapid Metabolizer. Probably the reason I've been on Nexium for years without any problems. Your candy dish top is gorgeous. I can picture it as a centerpiece on top of a glass platter surrounded by fruits or pastries. Or maybe part of a floral arrangement? So many pretty uses......

Still fuming about yesterday's Dr. appointment. Will share more later. Good thing about my anger is it motivates me.

This is one of my fave pics of when my baby really was still a baby. My little "Rhett Butler" is about 3 here

Mominator, what fun... a star ;)

Junie , I'll let you know when the post on how to find money to assist with stuff :)

Shep( & Junie) as bad as he did at communication, I think it may need a bit of sorting out. On Lyrica. I couldn't find anything that supported his statement. BUT that doesn't make his statement false. If you look at wiki there is a description of all the chemical things that happen. Very unreadable to us lay people. Sounds like it is known how it works. But there can be 'things' that only the most schooled know that the rest of the mere mortals don't know. The neurologist is at the top of the heap for understanding neuro brain chemistry. it may be known at that level that it is simply unknown exactly how it works.

Let me give you a different example: Anesthesia. The drugs that are used to produce deep anesthesia are well known to practitioners. BUT the WHY & HOW of deep anesthesia is accomplished is unknown. Does that prevent people from being put under. No. Does it make you feel more comfortable knowing that? Likely not, we generally think every step and ramification of anesthesia is known.

Lyrica and Neurontin may be in the same drug family i.e class, but doesn't mean they work exactly the same way. Drugs fall into a class, then each has a special characteristic that makes them different from the other drugs in that class. Otherwise, it will be described as having the same exact action of another drug in that class. That's how generics are developed. When new drugs are developed and there is no class in which it fits, the term used to describe this is "Novel Drug Class"--i.e new class. Over time once a Novell drug is found, other pharmas, also, seek to develop drugs in that class.

With the discs, PT affects soft tissues that surround bony structures. Muscles react to pain by going into spasm or tightening around the painful area. Those spasms are protective in the sense they are trying to stabilize an area. But the spasming can in it self create more of a problem. Bony structures that are unstable apply pressure on the nerves and soft tissue. Like a collapsing house putting structural pressure on the plumbing & electrical lines that the frame/concrete structure has moved. out of position.

What this doc may have done is be the first to talk to you truthfully, BUT he did it very poorly. Since what he communicated seems so different, a reasonable reaction is you don't believe him. Had he taken a couple of minutes to explain each statement you would have been better served.

I do agree that in general neurologists and neurosurgeons overall don't communicate well. I remember one time saying couldn't we put Dr. Smith in the closet, and bring him out when we needed him. He was a major teacher of patients, and staff. His communication skills were so different. He became a benchmark doc for me as to judge others.

    Too bad he sucked.

Smarrty, I just love following Evie. Is she nursing?

    HOOTIEHOOOOOOOOoooooPatty :)

Shep putting that shirt on W&F's Any chance you can report your experience with Genelex and YouScript on the 2D6 thread? It would be so much fun to talk about the stuff. I love strange things. When you get to the posts where I talk to BAKERBAKER. It was very strange b/c BB's post disappeared entirely. Had I not incorporated his question in the response, you would think me crazy. I was pretty proud of the response, LOL. At the time nothing was in print about how to handle this NEW info related to metabolism. Fairly soon after that I was able to locate info that said as I did about not knowing b/c the studies didn't identify CYP abnormalities. I thought myself quite clever. It's still an ongoing discussion in clinical trials.

BTW practicing doc's are not good atapplying CYP abnormalities. I stumped my RO and YouScript pharmacists when I asked exactly what paths the radioactive iodine 131 was metabolized through. They all had to go to the books. Took awhile. You will see in the posts how I changed my PCP and counselors practice. Neat.

I thought about using the glass dome as a tactile thingy. The knob on top has three loops. Barely could be seen on the pic. The whole thing is neat to feel :)

    Great pic of DS :)

Good morning everyone it is a beautiful sunny day, but a little chilly. Loverly I am not stressed out about the reno , just disappointed the countertop guy didn't put the countertop order in when he should of, and we will have to wait another two weeks. Your garden is beautiful and very restful. How much longer will your husband be away?

Junnie how true in this is not the life I ordered. I admire you ladies for your fortitude and zest for life.

Holeinone sit back and enjoy your company. Good news on the liver enzymes tumor markers dropping.

Mominator you are one talented lady.

Shep glad to see your sense of humor back. As for anger motivating you, you go girl. Your son's picture is adorable, what a cutie.

Sas that glass is beautiful, do you have any room left in your house.

feelingfeline, Scarlett was a fool - Ashley Wilkes was such a wanker, so wishy-washy and weak. Funny how time changes your perception of things. When I was young I thought Melanie was so annoying and helpless; as I got older I realized that she was the strongest character of them all.

My mother started a family tradition years ago, after ordering some curtains that did not arrive looking like she expected. During the scene where Scarlett is in the turnip field and raises her fist to the sky, each one of us viewing must also raise a fist, jump up on the furniture and make our own declaration. That first year Mother declared "If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never have ugly curtains again!"*

*learned the hard way that when viewing at the cinema the folks seated behind you get a little po'd.

You, guys just as I read " Now, I can handle that. The no pants ones....ewww." The heavens opened up to drench that fun thought. Also, back paged to see where the guy was. But thank you for the nice thought. OH, I finally got it. Loverly was talking about that guy being okay, but not when the don't have pants. Hmmm, slow.

Queenie, so sorry about the puter. Before my last fall the same shoe and foot that are trying to kill me, turned. Puter flipped out of my grasp, flew feet up, and then down on the ceramic. I thought it would be toast. Fired up. Amazed. VERY GLAD it sounds like you had no in juries. What up btw besides gardening? :)

All: We need to shout out to Ginger. She had the tooth problem and something else. She's MIA too long. I don't have contact info. Anyone?

Have a very nice weekend everyone. Feel blessed to be here with you :) Very happy at the moment :)

Yeah, I'm totally fine--the bruises on my ego are fading, though the cats are still being sarcastic little $%#78s. At this point, just hoping the nice young tech dudes at staples can get the data off my old hard drive. And that I don't run into the sales staff member who keeps trying to convince me to get the "rental" version of Microsoft Office when I go to pick up the new computer.

Nothing going on here but gardening, thank deity. bring on the eye candy, ladies!

Queenie, I was wondering what happened to you. No one here to teaseWinking. I don't believe you hurt yourself by tripping over your own feet. Were you trying to do the pretzel? Or were you trying to do this?

imageWhen I first read your post quickly, I thought you sat on one of your foot and had to order one....was thinking to myself I didn't know you had prosthetic foot. You see, my mind ,for some reason, is still programmed to my native language which has no plural (or different verb tenses). Hey, gardening is good and therapeutic.

I'm listening to a compilation of classical hits and Luciano Pavarotti just came on...what a coincidence. Ha!

I think Evie was trying to impersonate Elvis. Awww...those cheeks!

ShepK, I know what you are thinking. Does that mean I have a {replace5}amp;@ mind too? Ha! Your boy is so precious. I just want to carry him and hug him. Much more good looking than Rhett Butler. You know I have not seen or read Gone with the wind? Sorry you didn't have a good visit with your neurologist, but I am encouraged to hear that your anger motivates you to fight. Did you have an allergic reaction to Neurontin? If not you should consider trying Lyrica. Even though they are related, diabetic people have told me that it works better for their neuropathy. Not sure about fibromyalgia. I would think the same for fibro. Your neurologist is bat-poop crazy? I thought only psychiatrists are, well...they are of different species. What happened when you were 28? If it's too personal, no worries. Yes, I have heard from DH. The first day at medical camp, the doctors saw close to 300 people! I think the whole village came. Ha! Praise God though for these doctors who have the heart to help people. Yesterday was the first day Mitzy was by herself for over 8 hours. I'm happy to report that everything was intact. She was a bit nervous around lunch time and got on the second or third step of the stairs even though we blocked the area with chairs and stools ( yeah, we are talking about a girl who can jump a six foot fence), duh. I still think she thinks Daddy is taking a long nap upstairs. Ha! Next Monday will be another trial.

Mominator, oh how I wish I could listen to you play the flute. I like how it could sound both cheerful and peaceful. Your cheerful smile is contagious.

Ms. Sas, the candy dish lid is so beautiful and so are the other pieces. I agree with Forward. Where do you find room in your home to store these glasswares.

Forward, bummer about the countertop. How do you prepare meals? Shocked Btw, I like the humor about falling down. Knowing the anal me, I would stay down and pick up Mitzy's hair or crumbs on the floor.

JunieB, hope you get a good roommate this time too. Very stressful and annoying when the person is noisy and inconsiderate.

Susan, I went to Trader Joe's this morning after dropping the kids off from school. I was supposed to get two items- myzithra cheese and couldn't, for the life of me,remember the other item. Had to walk around the store for nearly 5-10 minutes trying to remember because I didn't want to stand in one spot trying to think and looking stupid. Finally, your name popped up and I remembered..,,,tada.

    image

Blessing, hope DH continues to make progress.

Hiho, good idea about having relatives stay at a hotel. I'm sure they understand.

Pattycake, hope you continue to feel better.

Boy, that took me nearly two hours to write. That's how slow and easily distracted my brain is.

Shep - Thanks! I seriously am going to try and find that T-shirt.

Lookforward - Thanks for the laugh. Absolutely need to find the positive.

Sas - O.k., I've checked and I don't qualify for case management services through my insurance. I have straight Medicare and a supplement. I spoke with the supplement people today and the case management service isn't provided under my policy. I think those services are available to those who have a PPO or a MedAdvantage policy. Other than home health care after being discharged from SNF with script from Ortho, I am responsible for the costs of transportation to doctors appts. and shopping/errands, housekeeping etc. This is why I have always made sure everything is done prior to any surgery (food in freezer, laundry, etc.), then I can coast for a time. My apartment is a handicapped equipped apt., plus I already have the shower chair, walker, long picker upper thingy, etc. So I'll just have to make do.

Also, the NW Seniors & Disabilities folks said they couldn't help me on a short-term basis, but if I needed help for the long-term that would be different. But I would have to pay a percentage of my income for those services.

Well I'm off to watch my favorite show (Grimm) now, so I'll check back later.

    Can't sleep.

JunieB, I just remembered you asked me a question about Mitzy's shedding. When we were at the SPCA, I asked my husband to run his hand through her coat to see how much hair would fall out. Nothing. She passed the test. Boy, were we fooled. Hair was/is everywhere. I run the Roomba everyday and each time we have a handful of hair.

I would get nightmares if I watch Grimm.

ShepK, how is Mitzy at herding? Not sure. She doesn't like cats or squirrels. She ignores for the cows we often see on our walk. Mitzy did try to bully my petite 12 yr old daughter a few times when Dd tried to feed her. One time she "scream barked" at my dd for saying "yum yum yum yum" repeatedly. Scared Dd and me. Today, she stopped eating and stared down Dd who was a few feet away singing and shaking her behind. Had to correct her right away.
