JunieB ~ There is a program called "Neighbor to Neighbor" that matches up volunteer drivers for those who are disabled or retired. They drive folks for appointments, groceries, the pharmacy and such. I believe they also will pick up groceries and meds for those who are home-bound. The United Way here runs the program. Just found out about it from my friend's mom - she loves it.
Different versions of your shirt are on CafePress and eBay. CafePress does different discount codes all time - today's is 30% of with code SPENDREFUND until 11:59 p.m. PT. I'm tempted myself

Loverly ~ the "trauma" when I turned 28 was that 30 was fast approaching, lol! My Cousin, who was born 10 years and 2 days after me, is also "28". My Mother, Uncle, and Auntie are all "38". Youth runs in the family

Shep - Thank you so much for the link and info. I will check them out later today after I get back from grocery shopping.

Shep I love it. YOur Mom sounds seriously cool. What a great way to handle disappointing curtains. I have read and many times seen GWTW. My parents were big fans. Only saw it in the big screen once, in a cinema in London with my Mum when I was in my early 20's. You are so right Ashley is a milksop. Yes maturity does change perspective on Melanie.

JunieB, I didn't see the original post but the tshirt put me in mind of this.

ShepK, I cracked up thinking about you standing up in the theater with your fist in the air yelling about curtains. This is my story.

Oh my gosh Mags, those two pics are hilarious. I let out a huge laugh when I read them. Perfect t-shirt quotes.
Now I have one for you all to get a laugh from.
Earlier today I went grocery shopping and when I got to the store I needed to use the restroom. This particular company has 2 stores here in Salem and I usually go to the one in South Salem, but today I went to the store in North Salem. Once in the store I went into the restroom on the right side, just like at the other store, and it was empty. When I came out of the stall there was a man standing at the urinal (that I hadn't noticed going in), 2 men at the sinks & 1 man at the hand dryer. I was totally mortified and scooted out of there as quickly as my legs would carry me, hoping that none of the men noticed me. Went straight into the women's restroom to wash my hands. Obviously the women's restroom is on the left in that store. Yah think? Now on further reflection it is just a very funny story.
Shep - How are you doing today?
Loverly - Since Mitzi has displayed food protectiveness, have you considered putting her in a separate room by herself when she's eating? She probably had to fight for any food she got where ever she was before ending up at the shelter.
Hello feelingfeline!

JunieB ~ Oh My!

Mags ~ Some people are just so uptight! lol
However............

feelingfeline ~ My Mother is rather entertaining
And she loves Gone With The Wind. (who doesn't?) For her high school prom, her Aunt made her an emerald green satin gown that resembled Scarlett's velvet curtain dress. Hmm....guess Mother was passionate about drapery even as a teen

Scarlett O'Kitty! Well DH doesn't love GWTW, although he has never seen or read it. He absorbed some prejudices about the screen version as a child, he said that it had stereotype/stage southerners in it. I pointed out that it has a stage "oirish" man in it too, but that doesn't stop me loving it. (DH is from NC btw).

Hey Sas......what are you doing still up? My hip has been trying to secede for the past 3 days......aided by most of my spine. traitors! No break from the pain. I had dipped my toe into the Valie of the Dolls......only took half of one. Think a return trip is in order. I'll wave if I see you there

Did it a couple three times over the years of a span of say 40 years.(guessing). Then undid by going to Essex. Oh well, wouldn't miss going to Essex.

Good morning Sunday Funday friends!
New Mexico had two really nice days of soaking rain, which is perfect timing for all the spring blooms. The mountains here got some snow yesterday, more further to the north and always kind of like it when the valley is fresh and green and there is snow on the mountain top. Still a bit cloudy this morning and cool outside, but loving all the moisture!
I was out and about patio furniture shopping yesterday and found something I LOVE, which is a custom made set, but very pricey and trying to decide if would use it enough to justify such a price. The guy kept saying "you will have this set for 30 years" and laughed, because at age 56, not exactly what I am most concerned about! Ha ha! I have one more place to go this week and then will decide if I am ready to purchase or wait a bit longer. Patio furniture shopping is quite fun!
Loverly- I enjoy life, even when busy at work. I have learned to strike a good work/life balance. When I am on contract though, my free time is very precious so I must pick and choose where I spend my time. It is an all or nothing world in the life of the typical consultant.
Have a good day folks!

Hugs back to you ShepK.
JunieB, oh my dear!!!! My eyes widened and jaw dropped before I snorted with laughter as I was reading your incident. I can understand how mortified you were. I, too, had done it, but didn't go as far as using the toilet. When a girl gotta go, a girl gotta go. Poor you. Did you head straight out of the store afterwards?
Jazzy, I know you always try to balance your time. I live vicariously through you...not that I don't enjoy life myself. I wanted to hear what you have been up to.
Susan, how do you make your sauerkraut? Share only when you are better.

Loveroflife- busy with lots of things. House, yard and garden, working on a trip to the Big Apple with my sister this fall. I could use another day before I go back to work tomorrow, how about you?
0 -
Jazzy, I could use not just another day, but several days off before going back to work. Haha!

Ok, off to church to listen to Christopher Yuan....quite a gifted speaker.

Jazzy, I love when you post pics of New Mexico. So much natural beauty and your spring seems to come very early. I would want to sit outside all the time! An expensive patio set that will last 30 years? Go for it! Otherwise you'll be blowing/fanning the candles out on your 86th birthday cake and realize "dang! I could be lounging on that beautiful furniture right now!"
Loverly, I am so curious about your native language. Vietnamese? If there are no plurals how do you express that there is more than one? Which tense of a verb do you use; is it present tense for everything? So interesting! English is not a logical language at all. You can tear your dress and then shed a tear. The tire is flat and I tire of fixing it. I read a book today, I really like to read.....so many words have multiple meanings. And the words that sound the same; He ate the whole cake and tripped into a hole....You must have thought you were moving to a country of crazy people! (well...that is kind of true)

Shepkitty- I like the visual of "old me" on the patio with blowing out birthday candles sounds like a hoot! Well, I do want to check out one more place, but you know, after seeing the "cadillac" of patio sets can just spoil a girl!
We really do have beautiful weather here most of the time. The spring here is a long unfolding, but things are really greening up right now. I did not spend any time in the gardens this weekend with all the rain, but did put some new things in my covered patio sitting area together today.
Loveroflife- I am with you on needing more than a day, but think I got a lot of the bigger things done this weekend and then will chip away during the week at the rest. I will go into the week feeling pretty organized after spending time at home today. My project is actually slowing down a bit around some review work that may take another month to complete, and may approach my client about working less hours for a bit until we can ramp up again.
The following picture is not mine, but one from a friend on FB who was hiking around the foothills today. The mountains have had this misty and snowy look for three days now, I saw it yesterday when I was over on the east side of town closer to them. Bit of winter has returned, and three good days of moisture!

I'm pooped, we painted our kitchen and family room. I got all the kitchen stuff back in the cupboards, and the pantry is also done. I planted some more garden and started vegetable and flower seeds and put them in my mini greenhouse. Some of my garden is coming up, which is very early for here. I also got some color from the sun, I'm not pasty white anymore. Jazzy we could use some rain here, it's very dry.
Shep I hope you have a better nights sleep and are not in pain. Sass don't stay up all night again.
Junie I've done the same thing, once I was a little tipsy so that's a good excuse and i did it a couple of weeks ago. A lot of washrooms in the malls don't have doors and I just walked in the men's and ran right out.
Loverly since I don't work everyday is a weekend. I volunteer at an extended hospital care facility in the gift shop, and it's very slow. I take my knitting , a book and my iPad to keep busy. I was debating on finding a part time job, we'll see

feelingfeline ~ your husband is a Southerner and won't watch Gone With The Wind? Fiddly Dee! He's probably just scared he'll tear up during the fall of Atlanta
I live in coastal South Carolina not too far from the North Carolina border. How neat you married a Carolina boy! Love your term "stage oirish". Hollywood, ugh....Lookie ~ How in the world did you accomplish so much? Wow! I still need to put things back in order from "projects" that were finished 5 years ago........My hip is quieter tonite. Maybe I'll get some sleep

Sas ~ Hope you have a peaceful night. Saw this and thought of you;

Sweet Dreams to All!

ShepK, good questions. Unlike the English language, to express something that is plural there is a particular word you add in front of the noun if specific number is not used. To express tense, certain words are either added before or after the verb. It's very simple. No different verb forms to deal with. My simple mind can't seem to grasp the complexity of English. Haha! One of the things that can get tricky for westerners trying to learn the Vietnamese language is the usage of pronouns. The proper terms used to address a person depends on the differences in age and the social relationship between the speaker and the listener. So for example, I can't address my female friend who is older than me by simply using the pronoun "you". There is a different pronoun I need to use to show the age difference (also gender specific) out of respect for this older friend.
Jazzy, do I you think this patio set that you like will be outdated in a few years or does it have a classic look that will never go out of style?
Forward, good one. Haha.
JunieB, Mitzy does not display food aggression towards DH, me, or older daughter. We can move her bowl around or pet her while she is eating and she doesn't mind. She doesn't like it when my younger daughter does it though. DD2 can be noisy and obnoxious when playing with Mitzy and Mitzy doesn't care. It's only when Mitzy is eating, she can't handle the annoyance. DD2 knows no to leave Mitzy alone during feeding.

Just saw your post above mine. Hope you get some zzzzz tonight, ShepK. You too, Ms. Sas.

Oh boy, it's almost 1:00 am. Should not have drunk the green tea too close to bedtime.
