Feeling a little bit of anxiety as I sit and wait at the infusion center. Have to have a phlebotomy since chemo put me into chempause and I'm now loading too much iron. It seems to be never ending

Shep, that's an interesting observation about us and autoimmune issues. Marti's expression with Santa looks like a human's expression.

Sensi, love the picture of Chance with Santa. My grandest and granddog went to see Santa a couple of weeks ago. Hope all went well for you today.

Smaarty, like the meme. The grin on the cheshire cat in your avatar says it all.

JunieB, Kirby is sooo cute. Can't wait until he comes home to you.

Ok, I didn't get lost and my brain didn't wander like it did last time.  I still feel like I have brain fog.  I was several pages behind, don't think I went back all the way, catching up as much as possible here. ;)

Chevy-you sure got a lot of snow. hope you are staying warm.  I loved your take on looking back on memories and seeing how far one has come.

Mamma-Glad you son made it thru his hospital stay and is doing better. I hope your nausea is doing better and I love your tree.

Lita-very nice tree as well.  I love your DD's toys. I was laughing because a lot of my Christmas stuff is stuffed animals. I'm such a kid at heart.

Junie-Sorry you have to wait for Kirby and have to make such a long trip to get him.  He will be well worth it in the end.  I wish I could help you get him quicker,

Lover-love the pic from a week ago, the one you posted that was close to Smaarty's home.  I agree the rain is good sleeping weather. Your house is way too clean. How much do you charge, do you give pointers?  I'm on day 21 of tamoxifen. SE been ok. Woke up once with some leg cramps, but I've always had some achy joints.  Hope you are having a wonderful trip.

Poppy-Gus is a cute name and he is adorable, even if gassy.  Work is still keeping me busy, but I took an extra day off for myself today.  New pup (Lexi) and Chance had one scuffle, but are getting along now.  Will have to post her pic soon.  Hope your f/u goes well tomorrow.

Shep-glad to hear your FIL is doing better.  Cute baby of your furbaby and Santa.

Spookie-I'll take your White Winter ;)

Mags-Love the wig. Has DH ordered it yet?  Sending energy back your way.

Wild-7 degrees....brrrr. way too cold for me. Great pic of your "Angels"

Susan-sorry you've been tired as well. sending good thoughts your way and strenght

Smaarty-I may of missed it. Did you ever hear back from Wenchie? No time off for Christmas besides my regular days which are Friday and Saturday. I've been flat and fabulous from the beginning. ;) No real problems.  If you go to the flat and fab page, it might take a while to get approved. Great group of supportive ladies there as well. Let me know if you send a message, and I will see if I can post and get someone to respond maybe a little quicker ;).  Todays treatment sucked.  Two pokes, and the nurse ended up putting the needle in my arm very close to the elbow.  I spent and hour with my arm bent, as he used syringes to drain a little over 400cc of blood out. Was suppose to be 500. For some reason he couldn't get the glass bottle and vacuum thing to work for me. I'll do labs in 3 weeks or so and depending on my iron levels/ferritin will decided when I have to do another.

Wanted to interject my memory also....almost forgot.  I think one of my favorites was around 11 or so when it was just my mom and I. Parents divorced, dad in Los Angleles and sister at college. My mom and I would pack up her little mustang with lounge chairs and go up to the campground and sleep beneath the stars and play cards at night. Then she remarried and I had step brother and sister who had their own sets of issues, and I was sorta on back burner.  My dad remarried as well and had a second family. And I have the memories of going to see him on school breaks or during summer. But as an adult what is most etched in my mind is when I was down taking care of him, he had Stage 4 colon cancer.  I remember I had helped him back from the restroom as he was using a walker, and him sitting on the hospital bed sitting in the middle of the living room. He looked at me with a silly look on his face, said he loved me and puckered his lips and gave me a kiss.  Also the fact that I never truly "came out" to my dad, but he knew. And there was some program on talking about gay marriage, and he told me he thought everyone should be able to get married. But then lmao, if not a week later, he was telling me I should find myself a husband, because I'd make a good wench. (yes I know this does not sound nice) but was kind of my dad's humor. I feel very fortunate that I was able to take the time off and be with him in those last weeks and that I held his hand as he passed away.  Ok....rambling now.

Goodnight to you all. Sorry if I missed anyone. Good thoughts to you all.

    Morning ladies, good evening feline!

    Love all the memes.

Kath, Thank you for the comment on my pic. :) Did you make your Rheumatologist appt?

Smaarty, Good luck with the PS today. I hope you get some good info. I call dibs on the handyman!! Being a single homeowner I have a great NEED for someone like that. ;)

Poppy, How was MO? I was in your pocket with Shep, but I'm the quiet one.

MammaRay, Good luck with the cardiologist today. Definitely helps when the Dr is cute! There is a new animated movie out called, "Sing" that is supposed to be good, but it is PG, so I don't know if that's a concern with your son. Another idea that just popped into my head..I remember my SIL telling me that when her kids were young they would do "blanket parties." They would spread a blanket on the floor and have a picnic and play games or watch a movie. During this break I'm hoping to drive around and look at light displays with my kids.

Shep, You need heat packets in SC?! I'm so sorry you are dealing with hearing loss. Even more sorry that FF thinks taking you to Sam's is a nice surprise. Will you see your kids for the holidays? Where are they..how many do you have? I should know this! Sweet pic of Marti and Santa. My kids' break started today, and they don't go back to school until the 4th. :) We are taking things slow this first day, and I promised my DD that today would be a PJ day. I want to do some cookie/treat making with them today and this weekend is full of family. Next week will be a trip to the library and New Year's weekend they will be with their dad Sat afternoon - Monday, but some back and forth because we will be splitting up the kids and doing "dates."

Chevy, Good info about hearing loss. I'm going to share with my mom. She was DX with cronic Leukemia a few months before my bc DX and takes a med daily. I'm thinking her med has caused her to have some hearing loss..more than what would be natural for someone who is 69.

Susan, Mags, so sorry for your pain.

Sensi, Sorry the infusion experience sucked. That was a really cute picture of chance and Santa. A very sweet story you told about your dad.

Junie, It must be so hard waiting for Kirby. I'm glad the breeders are sending you pics.

    Hi to anyone I missed.

Tomorrow I'm going to a Rheumatologist for joint pain and trigger thumb. I considered cancelling because the pain is very mild right now and the trigger only on occasion, but I know it would all be worse if I was working these days. I don't know what he can possibly tell me..PCP ran blood work and MO did x-rays (all good), but MO wants me to go, so maybe I'll get some info.

People are getting hungry now...hope everyone has a good day!

Hugs to all you guys, and your Mom Tulip! If her hearing loss happened over time, that is different.... If it happened all of a sudden, that is maybe do to something she is taking. Look up the drug.... see if it lists "ototoxic?..... Even the medical book my first ENT was looking through, could not find Tamoxifen!

appointment went well. She said she'd take them out but it may not stop the problem. Some kind of pain syndrome might be involved. Don't know when until next week.

Poppy, Id like to get together with you after the holidays and when DH is doing ok, if you're willing.

Oh, I never heard back from WenchLori

well I'm scheduled for January 24th or sooner if someone has to cancel. Didn't expect a call so soon, the scheduler is on vacation. Hope somebody cancels in the next week and a half. I have to work around my sewing retreats!

Jwoo, how you healing? Getting better? Easier to get around?

    MammaRay, how'd your appt go?

Sensi, you should be home resting today.

I'm jealous of Lover, cold, wet and windy here.

WildT, your name reminds me of the song "Wild Thing" and it puts a smile on my face when I start singing it. Got an appointment in March for the rheumatologist I wanted to see. Will book me earlier if there is a cancellation. I think she will be worth the wait. How did you make out with your appointment yesterday?

Evie is adorable. Looking at her, one would never know she was a premie. She has what I call pinchable cheeks.

Sensi, your name reminds me of the Japanese word for teacher, sensei. Oh the look on Lexi's face. It's so plaintive. I think I would be a foster fail and adopt her if I was her foster parent.

MammaRay, how did your appointment go? Tell me about sinus drainage! Gad, mine is awful. I think I should buy stock in Kimberly-Clarke as I go through tissues, paper towels, napkins, whatever I can get my hands on to get it out of me. Sorry, TMI.

Chevy, anymore snow? Do your neighbors still have those chickens? You haven't mentioned them lately. Hmm, if the girls are old enough, can you give them a little something to shovel for you? After all, the parents never thought twice about leaving town and having you feed the birds in snow, sleet, rain and cold weather in general. Just a thought.

I have been trying to post, but dead tire by the end of the day. Must be the sun hehe.

Kathy, it is good to see your post. I was wondering if you were ok. Bummer regarding the Sjögren's syndrome. Do you have dry mouth also? Besides joints, no other organs are affected right? Do you have to be on a immunosuppressant drug? Crazy how many autoimmune diseases we have out there. I read that there are as many as 80 different ones. Have you seen those tinted glasses made for computer use? Wonder if it would help. Oh just found a blog from someone with possibly similar eyes problem.

    http://autoimmunegal.blogspot.com/2012/02/more-on-...

Of course we would love to see you here more, but don't want you to strain your eyes either. Hugs

Oh, DD survived her first semester, I think and hope. Thank you for asking. Still waiting for the final grade for the chemistry class. It sounds like this class filters out people who want to go through medical or science field majors. Heard this teacher is really tough. Realistically, you probably won't use 95% of what you learn in chemistry class unless you plan to be a chemist. Why make it so hard for the kids? She needs a 3.5 gpa to continue receiving the scholarship. She is investing way too much time (5hrs/day, 6 days a week) . I told her to concentrate on her academics as she does not get scholarships for swimming. Her response: I don't want to give up. Trying to reverse what I have taught her, but not succeeding. Told her you need to be wise in managing your time and investment. Will wait and see what she will do. Important to find a balance. Looking forward to seeing wedding pictures.

Yeah, WildT is a Wild Thing. She may look innocent, but don't let her fool you.

Chevy, thanks for the hug and the hearing/drug info!

Smaarty, I'm glad you are moving forward to, hopefully, more comfortable days. Only a month away..it will go fast. Do you have a sewing retreat near that date? Evie is such a cutie!!

Loverly, Shhh..don't tell! (Yes, looks CAN be deceiving!) I can't wait to see vacay pics. I hope you are having a fabulous time!!

Kathy, LOL. The only reason I picked Wild Tulip for a name was that Tulip was taken, so I had to come up with some version of a name with Tulip in it. My Rheumatology appt was today..keep reading.

Junie, Are you doing okay? Do you have friends you will be with this weekend?

When my MO suggested I follow up with Rheumatologist it was primarily for joint pain in hands, but also feet too. The hands have been worse lately though, and although at times all the fingers hurt, the thumbs have been worse. I knew one was a trigger thumb, as I had it injected in Feb and it was popping again. The left thumb just plain hurt throughout the whole thumb and at the base there was this one spot (I thought it was bone) in the hand that really hurt. Just the pressure of holding a glass in that hand hurt. Anyway, I guess lefty is a trigger thumb also, the beginnings, so the tendon is inflamed but it hasn't started popping yet. I got a cortisone shot in each thumb and when he hit that spot on lefty it took my breath away. The area is now bruised. Good thing it's my non-dominant!

I SO wish I would have recorded the conversation with the Dr, but I didn't, so don't quote me on this..hoping I can relay it well. He said studies have shown the cancer drugs do not cause arthritis, (even though that's what it feels like) but that the estrogen blocking drugs create a lower pain threshold. He said nerves have estrogen receptors, but with the lack of estrogen there is more pain, basically because it's easily felt. Anyone else heard of this? It would be interesting to find a study and read up on it..I'll add that to my "to do" list.

I am so grateful to all of you here...for your kindness, support, ears, hugs and laughter. Whatever your beliefs/holiday, I hope you have peace and comfort this weekend. I have to go play Santa now, but first I'll leave you with this sweet story. My kids still believe and I was teasing them one day this week and asked if they thought Santa would bring me anything. My son's response.."I hope so..maybe some new slippers." Well, I wear slippers all the time, so at the end of last season picked up some on clearance and I happened to have a new pair in my closet. So, yes, Santa will be bringing me new slippers.

Lover, I do have dry mouth but I make sure I've got something to drink on hand or sugar free hard candy to suck on so it isn't too bad. My PCP thought I had temporal arteritis because it started with my jaw. I couldn't even eat mushy cereal without pain. Thank goodness for naproxen. That has subsided but do have an occasional twinge. I even joked to him that I thought I might have the mumps because I had a very mild case as a kid. He did blood work up for all three. The temporal arteritis was slightly high but the Sjogren's was very high. I know steroids are used but I'm diabetic so there goes my A1c. Hoping there is something else.

I did order some sunglasses for night time driving glare because of cataracts. Got one in yellow and one in a copper tone. They haven't arrived yet. Hmm, if they don't do the trick I will definitely look into the "rose colored glasses". Thank you for checking into that while you're on vacation. You are so sweet to do that.

A trick I picked up while working on campus and from my son when it comes to professors and classes. If there is someone else who teaches the same course who has a better reputation with students is to wait until they come up in the teaching rotation. First semester freshmen don't have that luxury since they rarely know upperclassmen and there incoming schedule can be dictated by their dean. Usually scholarship money is based on the full year average. Check her school's policy. One year where I worked, scholarships were pulled after the first semester for freshmen who fell below the required gpa. I had a freshman work study student who dropped into the "C" range. He knew that it was usually based on the full year and was going to appeal. We had a discussion and he would have had to pull all "As" his second semester. He looked over the courses he was going to have to take second semester and realized that wouldn't happen. Tell her she isn't giving up. She is making a wise decision for the academics and her future life. She doesn't want to be saddled with student loans.

Yes, WildT, she makes are hearts sing. She makes everything groovy.

WildT...very interesting about estrogen receptors and increased pain from aromataze inhibitors. But that initial pain has to come from somewhere. Some women go from no joint pain at all to pain everywhere after they start the AIs. But what do we little patients know.

This one was from a dinner Theo's mom had the night before the reception. It shows both my girls, the grandchildren and friends from Atlanta, GA who came up for the parties. John looks like a chipmunk. He had just started eating a roll.

Hey WildT, 👍🏻 for decrease in joint pain. May it continue. How is your energy level these days? I don't remember if I have asked you when you are returning to work. Must be crazy cold where you are.

JunieB, Kirby is so adorable! 11 more days. How is your tummy? Still at a lower dose of Prilosec?

Feline, is DD performing this Christmas? Would love to see her photos or video.

ShepK, meant to tell you that Marti looks so regal in the pic with Santa. Does the fossil tool in your spine bother you more during the cold weather?

MammaRay, how cute is your cardiologist? Does your pulse go up whenever you see him? Good thing that he only read EKG and not minds. :)

Peppy, would love to get together with you, Ms. S, and Sensi for lunch after the holidays. Sorry about all the tests and appointments between you and DH. How is DH?

Mags, how did you look in the wig? Hope you are more vertical than flat on your back.

Same with you Susan. Hugs to you both.

JWoo, I love all the holiday pics you posted especially the one for Rosevalley.

Mommy, good job for the A. More classes in the spring?

Ms. Chevy, did you get to walk to your favorite hang out place? Those are some funky thongs with the metal toe protection! Talk about thongs, not all people who wear them are " tramps". Ha! You ought to try them. If you get the right ones....👍👍👍Hehe. Ask Ms. Spookie.

Lita, Ms. Chevy is the wise one. I learn alot from her. My mom said and did some hurtful things to me growing up because i believe in her mind she thought that she was "disciplining" me. I have forgiven her because if I focus on the hurts and not on the many times that she cared for me then I would be bitter. You can't change a person, but you can change how you see things. Mom had a rough childhood, much much worse than mine. She did her best to raise us 8 kids based on the tools she was given which was very little. I think she was the most strict with me, the eldest, the "guinea pig". You are right that none of us are perfect. We don't want to repeat the same mistakes our parents made with us so we make different ones for ourselvesLoopy

Forward, it is so funny. I thought about you and Kath not too long ago and there you are. How are you doing?

I have been thinking about Jazzy too.

Sensi, nothing like being accepted and loved :) You're such a good daughter.

How often do you get your blood drained? I presume it depends on your iron level? Can you donate it 12 months after chemo?

Ms. S, I heard it has been cold, wet, and windy. Mitzy's sitter gave us a report today. She is on vacation too and had a blast today playing with the sitter's two German shepherds indoors. Good thing she has them, otherwise she would mope around the house looking sad on a rainy day.

Lover, I think you're right about the oldest being the "guinea pig." There are six years between DS and DDs. When they were in middle school and high school, DS noticed I didn't discipline them quite as much as I did him. I told him he taught me as much as I taught him and I learned only to take on the battles I knew I could win. I think they all turned out rather well.

    Love a bargain!

Went snorkeling today and saw many beautiful fish and green turtles. Well, family did. That time of the month for me so I didn't want to attract any sharks. Dad saw a turtle and was petting it as if it was a dog (he loves animals and later on asked my brother why one of the lady volunteers waved her hands in the air like a mad lady. He did not have his hearing aids on. Didn't know he was not supposed to touch the turtlesShocked

I love the pictures , dogs , weddings, babies and the beautiful beaches. I have been crafting and doing craft shows. The shows where very slow this year , probably because of the crummy economy . I do it to keep busy and I like the creative aspect of it, here are a couple of pictures, image
