Aw geez, little miss smarty-pants! If some guy came over here, looking like THAT, I would have a near heart-attack.... and then make sure DH was nowhere around...Hah!

Oh SURE! I can just hear you all now, saying "That woman is plain out of her mind"...... but we all knew that!

And yes, I saw miss Cammi over on the drinking thread.... She is such a tart! I love her because she is even crazier than I am.... I gotta find out how her "little" Joey is....

hi all. Short talk since I just saw her, 2 minutes. I did find out she has sx on Thursday and Friday afternoon. Still hoping someone else has to cancel. Thursday is now out but maybe Friday. I'm trying to make a pair of knitted knockers, I'll let you know if I'm lucky. Right now it looks a little weird. And it's yellow yar. Haha

Hope everyone enjoyed their Xmas. Evies hat was made by my sister. I don't know about her shoes. If you look close, they zip up!

Elena is cute as ever. Susan, you feeling better?

    Chevy, you and me both!

JunieB, WildT, Mamma, how you guys?

Anybody got plans for New Year's Eve? We haven't gone anywhere in years.

Shep, don't let the cats eat too many birds....we need the birds to keep the flying insect population down.

Smaarty, I couldn't figure out the sizing on the knitted knockers. Go to mastectomysolutions.com for the directions to sew foobs. She uses microbeads, but cotton would work for stuffing. The microbeads are a pain due to static. Or get weighted foam from an online site. I have the silicone but haven't worn anything but the foam for a year.

Smarty- I don't go out on Xmas Eve due to the crazy drunk driver thing where I live. I do however go play music with friends on New Years Day! There is good food, conversation, playing and one of my favorite rituals for this time of the year.

Shep, Sorry to hear about upcoming dental work. Sounds expensive. I hate spending money on crap like that!

Smaarty, I'm hungry for whatever that cook wants to offer!

Today the kids and I went to a book store. They have inherited my love of books and browsing. Tomorrow a couple of appointments and then tomorrow night a hot date...with my son. :) DD is going to be picked up by her dad and they are going to a movie and then she is staying the night with him. DS said for our date we are going to stay home and watch Catwoman. He loves all superhero stuff and I think we picked up Catwoman used one time. I don't think I've watched it start to finish, so it will be nice. It's kinda cute that he picked a movie that he knew I would be interested in..more so than something like Hulk or Batman. DS always gets a little anxious when he's away from DD too long, so it will be interesting to see how he does without her till Friday AM. Either Sunday or Monday I'll have a date with DD, but she hasn't decided what she wants to do yet. I love getting the one on one time like this during school breaks.

One of the appointments tomorrow is an allergist. DS has been congested/sniffling constantly this fall and winter, and his allergy hasn't helped, so it's time for a check up. This summer when I had DD in for an allergy check up the Dr suggested allergy testing, so treatment can be more specific, and said I could get tested there too. At the time I decided to wait, but tomorrow I'm going to ask more about that, for the three of us. Have to be out of the house before 8am, so better sleep.

    Good night all!

Sorry Ladies that I've been off line. I am sick as a dog ( no pun intended). Chest cold has kept me coughing and exhausted to the point of causing me to start cough up blood on Christmas night. Called MO and guess what she said? "Go to the ER", Crap! I got a jerky doctor too. But they did do a CT and I don't have pneumonia or a blood clot. However, they discharged me at approx. 11:15 p.m. and refused to give me a taxi voucher, as they've done several times in the past. So I ended up walking the 4 miles home in 29 degree weather. Woke up on Monday morning with a 100 degree temp. I am now on antibiotics, which has helped a bunch, but now I also have a full fledged cold, ta boot. Earlier today I said to someone that, if someone would shoot me I'd probably thank them. But then I remember the Kirbmeister who is getting cuter and funnier by the day and coming home in 6 days.

Here he is playing with one of the other Cairns, Leilah, who is six months old. Apparently, they have a great time playing together. I wish I could have 2 Cairns, so they could play, but one is all I can handle.

It's good to see you posting again Jazzygirl. I hope you had a great Christmas.

I've been meaning to call Sassy, but haven't made it just yet.

Smaarty - Evie looks cute in her winter coat & accessories.

Shep - I enjoyed the pics of Marti & Andy.

I'm outta energy, so I'll just say "Hi" to everyone else and wish you a "Happy New Year" in case I don't get back online before then.

    Goodnight to all. Sleep well.

Smaarty - I will pm you contact info for a sweet gal in our area who is in charge of the area Knitted Knockers group. I stumbled upon her info on a local quilt shop newsletter. Emailed her and had a pair of knitted knockers in my mailbox within two days! I realize crafty old you might just want to make them yourself but just in case you could order a pair. Glad your surgery plans are progressing, let me know when you want to meet up or if you need anything.

JunieB - Kirby is sure having fun, hope you feel better soon...less than a week to go!

Jazzy - I like that baseball cap with hair! Very cute.

Shep -The link you posted for the scarf/head wrap from Good Wishes is awesome. A coworker had one sent to me during chemo, it was really nice, came with a beautiful note. What a great organization. I'm glad to know they are still around.

Junie sorry to hear you are not well and spent Christmas Eve in the er. I can't imagine walking 4 miles home, where is the compassion of the hospital staff.

Six more days and you will have that cute puppy home with you.

WildT enjoy your dates with your children, you are a very dedicated mom, I always enjoyed buying books for my kids when they were young. My daughter and I were looking at them a couple of weeks ago

Junie, I'm so sorry for what you went through on Christmas. Sad I hope you get better fast so you have lots of energy for that Kirby!!

Geez you guys.... now Debbie... Just makes me so sad... Thanks for that link JWoW...I posted it on my FB page... Sad

Tulip, I finally got allergy testing when I was about 35... couldn't take it anymore! Make sure it is an Allergist, and not just a plain old Doctor like I went to once. He gave me the "standard western treatment" and I wound up in the ER !

Your "dates" sound so fun with your kids... That means a lot to them! I remember doing special little things with my girls, and THEN with my Grand-sons when they were little! It is so fulfilling to be around little kids! They just make your heart sing.

Testing just makes sure they mix up the right serum for your specific needs! It takes a long time to go through the shots, but they really work!!!! I even had to get re-tested years later, for a few added allergies... But the shots start out at twice a week, then weekly.... then monthly..... After the first shot, I could hear my car blinkers work !!!

    MammaR.... what happened??? Everything okay?

OMG Junie!!! WHERE do you live??? In the Toolies??? You walked HOME? You should have just fell down in the ER and slept the night. My GOD you are sick!!! You had better take care of yourself, so you will be alright for your puppy! Take all the anti-B's.... also take Dayquil, and Niquil.... Those might help! I can't understand how you coughed up blood and were still MOVING!! Next time call an ambulance... those guys would take better care of you....!

Morning Lita, Poppy & Lookie! You too Jazzy....! Wren & Smarty.... good to see you guys.... Spookie is still asleep... what is it in Florida now... Noon? It's almost 6 here....

June- I as sorry to hear you have been sick. I have had several rounds of resp stuff this fall and know your suffering. I am sorry you could not get a ride back and had to walk. Have you thought about Uber? Good for some of us who don't readily have rides for the unexpected. Much more affordable than a cab.

I hope you are feeling better soon!

See??? If you want to see Spookie, ya gotta say something loud enough to wake her up, Hah! Me??? I WAKE the birds up.... that is when it is warm enough to step outside.

The birds have gone.... no birds... nowhere... Just an occasional Crow... Lots of squirrels though....

Yawn. I'm going back to bed. SOME people can be heard cross country.

Sometimes I get just worn out right after noon! And it feels so good just to sit down, with my head on my hand, and fall asleep for a few minutes. I'm afraid if I lay down and cover up, I'll stay there too long...Hah!

You guys, do any of you have such PAIN in your knee, like on the inside? My dear friend Theresa is 92... She can get a shot every 4 months, but it only lasts about a week....I just bought her "Icyhot" with Lidocaine.... to rub on her knee... also some Salonpas pain relieving patches....

I told her to get a heating-pad, and try that, but she says her "home" (Assisted Living) won't let them have one! I said " What the hell? That old guy brought in his gun and shot his Son In law!!!" And she just laughed her head off... cause it was true!!! But she doesn't have a micro-wave, to heat up one of those little rice-filled things....

She gets 2 Tylenol morning, noon and night.... but it isn't really helping. And you don't want to know what she calls her "Doctor".....Singing So I'm just trying to come up with something... I'll take this stuff over tomorrow....

  • Lita57
    Lita57 Member Posts: 2,338

Chevy...Tylenol doesn't do anything except ef up your liver. Might as well pop some tic tacs! I feel so bad for your friend Theresa. Is there anyway you could "sneak" in a heating pad for her? Heat is the only thing that helps me for all my aches and pains. It's not like she's going to burn the place down with a damn heating pad. They sell the ones that automatically turn off, too. The patches help to a certain extent, but they tell you not to wear them all day.

Back is still aching a bit. Hope it's not the mets growing...boo!!!

  • Chevyboy
    Chevyboy Member Posts: 10,258

Okay, thanks Lita.... I'll tell her about that! She swears by Tylenol, but she is so stubborn, I don't know if she will change her mind! I'll talk to her about the heating-pad...! That is a great idea! I told her "Wilma".... (her neighbor in the next room has one).... But she has her mind set on just "chopping off her leg".... And that's when I tell her "You'd have to get hold of a knife"...... and she laughs....

She sometimes tells me things, about their "rules" that I know are not correct. She has in her mind that Tylenol is the only thing she can take.... even though it doesn't help her enough.... I'm going to tell her to just TRY Aleve.... for a few days maybe.... I KNOW it is a lot safer than that much Tylenol!

Like she has periodic diarrhea .... And I told her I could bring her some Ammodium AD... I said why can't you get it, when your DiL takes you to Walmart.... She said because they go through your bags when you get back.... that isn't true. She said they don't allow any medicines that aren't given by their staff......

So I found out, they WILL give it to her when she tells them.... I could make her this little "rice" heating pad... But she would have to put it in a microwave, and she can't use one because she can't see the numbers.... She sometimes is a little "needy".... I think her family knows that, so I'll help her when I can....

Chevy would your friend be able to use a hot water bottle, or gel pads, I believe some are instant heating and some you warm in hot water.

MammaRay, I have a PET scan coming up in early February. Last scan in late October showed mostly stability with the organ mets, but the back tumors and lesions looked more prominent, according to the MO. So the additional pain is not surprising at this point. I just hope Xeloda can stave it off. Trying not to do too much to aggravate it, but I can't just stay plopped in a chair all day :o(. BTW, I had no idea that you were so young when you were initially Dx'd. It's bad to get this at any age, but in your 20's? Gees, that sucks!

It just seems to be happening to more and more of us. We all have to hang tough.

Have to distract myself now. BBC America is doing a Star Trek marathon (the original 60's series). One of my favorite episodes is on: "Space Seed" with Ricardo Montalban as Khan. Lt. McGuivers (sp?) the history officer is such a little pushover. When Khan tells her to "sit and entertain me," I always yell out, "Ef you! You entertain ME!" And then when Khan tells her that her hair is in an unbecoming style and starts rearranging it, I always yell at him again. What a dick! But man, was Ricardo Montalban HOT back then....those eyes, that voice and those broad shoulders!!!

How come none of the TV stars these days are as hot as that? They all seem "Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy" to me. Winking

Dang Jazzygirl, I didn't even think of Uber. What an great idea. I'll try to remember that for next time.

Still feeling bad with awful cough. Peed my pants from coughing just a bit ago. I know TMI.

Chevy - As it turns out the blood was from the coughing and I apparently ruptured some capillaries from the intense coughing.

I spoke to the hospitals' Patient Advocate today and she told me that the reasons they refused to give me the voucher was because it is a courtesy they extend on a limited basis and I had been given 2 back in August when my hip dislocated, plus I had told the nurse on Sunday that I have a friend that is a nurse and she gets up @ 4:00 a.m. to commute to Portland and I wouldn't call and wake her to come and get me, so therefore they said "NO". Oh well, it is what it is. This is the same hospital that missed my spinal tumor in 2014 and excused their incompetence by stating that Radiologists can miss a diagnosis up to 50% of the time. Now if that isn't a scary thought. This is why I go to Portland for most of my medical appts., except for my Oncologist who is NOT associated with the local hospital. However, in the middle of the night or weekends, it is my only choice.

I am on a waiting list for an income based apartment in a town half-way between here and Portland. List is 3 years long, so I don't know when or if that will ever happen. The Portland metro area has a far more extensive and accessible public transportation system of buses and trains, which would work very well for me.

Lita - You are so funny. Glad your back is feeling a bit better today.

Anyway, Kirby went for his pre-flight health check today and he was apparently a real suck-up. He loves people and loves kisses. The vet clinic staff all found him very charming. Sounds like a great Therapy Dog to me.

Guess that's all for now. Everyone have a great evening. The couch and my blanket are calling me.

    Good Night!
