Had an important birthday call to make this morning to my mom. Just wanted to let her know that even if she aggravates me sometimes, that I will always remember her on her birthday.

Shep~Really wish that we could be there physically to cradle you and sit there quietly with you while you are going through this bitter trial and emotional roller coaster ride.

DH fixed my tablet. For some reason, it overheated. He put it on an ice pack then called the tech people and they talked him thru it. I was napping, so I don't know what they did. I'm just glad it's up and running again. Technology.......

ShepK: I am sorry, l am lost in words. Just want to hold your hand and Marti's paw, and pray for both of you getting some reliefs.
Will be in your pocket this coming Monday when you meet with your onc team. I will be quiet. 🤐

Mommy- my mother and I never had a great relationship but agree, remembering birthdays is important. I hope you had a good call with her.

Shep, I just read your devastating news...I have no words. Totally sucks for both you and your beloved Marti.
Keeping you in prayer.
Just pulled a batch of cannabis brownies out of the oven and waiting for them to cool. I made cannabis butter myself last night for the first time. It was pretty easy, but I need to get a better grinder for the buds. My mini Cuisinart didn't do that great a job, so dd and I just ended up cutting and separating it with a serrated knife. I infused a pound of butter with not quite an ounce of OG kush. Our entire house smelled like pot as the butter simmered on the stove. I plan to freeze the brownies and eat them as needed for pain and nausea.

Hello everyone. My heart goes out to all in pain..physical and emotional.
My cold is all better. I've been working a lot, so my house is a disaster. I'm staying in tonight because I have a really busy, and early day tomorrow. DS has been playing basketball with special olympics and tomorrow there is a tournament in the morning. Watching him play brings me so much joy! So, I've been doing a LOT of thinking and researching about my future employment. I don't mind my lunch lady job, but since Dx it's been physically harder to do. Plus I'm considering long term finances. Anyway, I'm thinking about doing an online program to become a Nutrition Coach. (Because I don't have enough to do, I thought I would add school work.) It's a one year program and I know two people who have done it..one is my brother. I talked to him and he told me some pros and cons about the program. The second is the director of my department, and I am meeting with her Monday afternoon to get her feedback. I don't want to run my own business, so I'm not sure what I will do with what I learn. I feel like I am being led in this direction, yet if I do it I won't start till summer at the earliest so I can get surgeries done with first.
I have check up with MO on Monday AM. My kids have a lot of medical appointments this month..I think 5-6 between them.
Love and hugs to all of you!

Smarty- thank you for the beautiful baby photos. Evie and Ben are such happy and healthy children!
Wildtulip- I have seen so many women here go back to school to find new/different careers in the post BC world. I love the idea of a nutrition coach and with your bc experience, I bet you could tap into a cancer program where you might be able to work for an organization to help cancer patients. Many women struggle with other health issues in the post bc world from the treatments and medications we have to do. Been chatting with a sister tonight who is heading in to diabetes (I hit borderline a few years ago and managing in through diet and meds).
Your coaching would be invaluable to many. Good luck and let us know if you decide to go for it?

Jazzy, Thank you! I appreciate the support.

Wild T, Go for it! I got a master's degree in counseling when I was 54 and worked at that until I was 68. It was the first job that felt worthwhile. It was hard work to go back to school, but I had way more discipline than when I was young. I'm really glad I did it.
Shep, I'm so sorry to hear this news. For both you and Marti. My best cat got cancer and I lost her just as I was about to have the mastectomy. At the time I was devastated and I still miss her a lot. Let us know what your doc says about treatment. I know they can do very targeted radiation that works well to knock tumors back. Hugs for you and your DH.

Oh Shep, I am sooooo sorry to see your post about the double shock of yours & Marti's. I wish I could be there to give you moral support. But I will do my best from here, plus keep you lifted up in prayer too. (((Hugs to You!)))
Also, I'm with WildT in saying that *Cancer Sucks!*
WildT - Good for you! Go for the schooling if that is what will make you happy.
Sensi - I hope you don't overdo it working those extra shifts. Take care of your body. Make sure you get enough rest.
Kirby is doing very well. His paw seems back to normal and he is walking and playing again without limping. He went to the vet on Wednesday for his last puppy shots and screamed when the vet tried to give him the injection, so she stopped and squirted some of that squirty type cheese on the exam table and while Kirby was busy licking the cheese up, the vet gave him his shot and he didn't even realize what happened.
Lita - Glad you got your tablet working again. How did the brownies & butter turn out?
Smaarty - So glad you are drain free. Evie looks as adorable as always. Can't believe it's been a year already.
Wren - Wow, what an accomplishment to go back to college in your 50's and be able to have a fulfilling career.
Chevy - Thanks for updating us on PattyP. How are you doing? Do you still have lots of snow? So ready for Spring this year.
Hello Loverly! How is Mitzy? What did you end up doing in regards to her food? How are you doing? How is your Dad?
Has anyone heard anything about Susan?
Okay, I am going to call it a night. Sleep well all and have a great Sunday.

Shep
I trust that for you, especially for you, with all your strength of character and witty outlook on life, there will be better days, even in the midst of sadness and medicine.

Yes got home yesterday. Sorry for not letting you know. It's great to be home. My own couch, recliner , shower and a FAMILY. Slept great last night with no one waking me every 2 hours - literally.
How are you?

I was asleep when her message arrived, and I don't want to wake her now. I'll respond later.

Wren: I don't feel so old now! (Back at a local community college--am older than many of the teachers, never mind the students!)
I'd pm'ed Susan3, because I was wondering too; mainly, she'd keeping busy! Three days of work, one day of babysitting 'Dorable Grandbaby, and hiking. Tires me out just reading that, but she wishes she had her old energy back.

Chevy- thank you for letting us know about Patty being home. Such good news!

ShepK, will be in your pocket today.

WildT, go for it. How long is the program?
I like to watch my kids compete also. They don't like it though because it makes them nervous. So I just pretend I am not paying attention
Good for you Ms. Wren for going back to school in your 50's. I have a friend (53 years old) who is applying for Med school. It has always been her dream to become a physician. She actually was accepted to Med school after finishing her Pre-Med courses, but her Mother destroyed the acceptance letter before my friend saw it. She didn't find out it until about ten years ago. How could a mom do that to her own child?
Lita, how do you know how much to put in the brownies? I would be afraid to OD. Ha!
JunieB, Mitzy is currently on the limited ingredients lamb Canine Caviar for about 2 weeks now. She has been scratching . Will wait and see if the scratching continues. I may need to switch her back to the one with the duck. She did pretty good on that. Still waiting for the sample from Honest Kitchen (turkey).
Dad has appointment with neuro doc this Friday. Hopefully, no surgery. He tried backing off on the Neurontin the other day and woke up in pain in the middle of the night.
I better hit the sack as I have to work tomorrow. Took too long of a nap this afternoon. I know I am going to pay for it tomorrow.
Morning, Feline!

Susan, great pics of Elena. Hope you're feeling better.
Now, if we can get Patty to pop in, hopefully she's doing better too.

Mom was happy that I had called her on her birthday. I told her that I am so sorry that we were not able to go see her but she told me that it was okay and that she didn't expect me to drop everything and travel that far to see her since I am still recovering from having some cysts removed from the cancer surgery scar tissue.

Ok WildT, went back and read your post....it is a one year program. Not bad. Is the program expensive? I wish you success.
Oh Susan, Elena's pics ( and Evie's) always make me smile.
Ok my turn.
This is Mia:
This is her twin some where in this world.
Isn't that crazy?!

Mommy, good girl!

Junie, the butter turned out fine, and the brownies produce a very light, mellow relaxing high. No "stoned" feeling, just light buzz...of course that is only if you consume half a brownie. Eating an entire brownie would no doubt increase the affects.
Hope everyone has a good week.
