    Hey Y'all!

Peeking in to check on Peppy ~ Hoping all went well with yesterday's surgery <3

Chevy ~ That's not asthma - your are just winded from all them nekkid fellas at Mostlymom's carwash!

Feline - OMD. Told my computer illiterate Mom about the awesomeness of your Porn for Women book. She insisted I not only read it aloud to her on the phone, but also describe in detail each picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loverly ~ HS was not at all what I thought it was......all these mens parading through here I thought HOLY SMOKE!

Jazzy ~ I wanna be just like you if I ever decide to grow up! You are the coolest! Sir Elton in Vegas......wow! I truly support the death penalty for thieves. So sorry about your car. Big happy dance on your excellent news from last MO appointment :)

WildT ~ Exciting idea about becoming a Nutrition Coach! So many different options - medical, corporate, fitness....... Wonder if there are tuition grants available for cancer patients? Basketball game must have been fun! How proud was DS?

Headaches getting better, just soooo exhausted. Haven't been sleeping and toooo much stuff to do. Ack.

Hoping all in bad weather places stay safe <3

Hoping all turns out well for you Cookiegal. Love your signature line :)

After hearing a year or so of complete horror stories about what would happen if ever I were to get near an MRI machine with the oops in my spine, today I am going for a brain MRI. A special meeting of the surgical/radiology board at my cancer center decided the benefits far outweighed the risks. This will hopefully save me from whole brain rads and allow for proper surgical and gamma knife treatment. Not using my centers equipment of course.....sending to an independent place. Ha! at least is near home. Must decide on Ativan or Valium or both - much fear and trepidation about scary stuffs that could happen while in the machine.

    BBL if I don't explode............

Shep I have 4 level cervical fusion. LOTS of metal in there. Have had numerous MRI, haven't blown anything up yet😂

Shep: I'm with Spookiesmom--only difference being where my spine got fused (L5/S1). Not even a spark when I had my pre-treatment MRI for cancer. Seems to be two (potential) issues: is the metal "ferromagnetic" (does it respond to magnets)? and more globally, metal distorts the MRI snapshots. If the former, the magnetic fields the MRI sets up will yank on whatever's in your body.

chevyboy, asthma is often triggered by acid reflux. sounds crazy. Try not eating or drinking 2 hours before bed.

Biopsy was not as painful as I feared

    Thanks for good words

Okay, thanks for the thoughts! Doc said the Asthma is worse than last week, but I sort of knew that. I have another z-pak, and Prednisone, and a refill for the Nebulizer treatments. I go again next Tuesday.

I know what you mean Cookie! You should know something within a few days, going on a year.... Takes forEVER for them to get back to you!

But I usually get asthma left over from something else, like a cold or Pneumonia....

She said I can also take that mucous relief stuff....

Sheps! YES! I AM out of breath, Hah! But not from lookin' at those guy folks.... Ha!

You doing better? You are going to have your brain checked out? Let us know if they find anything..... See, THAT'S supposed to be a joke.... Haaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Okay.... Like almost 80 here today! I love this weather.... but the wind is really blowing.... going to stay in.

Shep - I have 2 metal hips, but they are MRI safe. One is Titanium and the other is a combo metal. My docs have explained I couldn't have MRI's of my hips because nothing would show up, but never any warning about anything super scary like you've described.

Chevy - Sorry you're still having trouble with your breathing. The cold air and dampness we're having tis winter has really triggered my asthma. Been using my inhaler and Sudogest almost daily.

Loverly - How is Mitzy doing?

Lita - Sorry to hear about your car damage. I hope your deductible isn't too outrageous.

Jazzy - Any chance of finding a different gym to go to?

    Smaarty - Yowsers! Nice pic.

I went to Walmart & Costco last night. My eyes started feeling like I had sand in them and thought it was my allergies. Came home and put allergy drops in, plus lubricating drops, but nothing helped. I woke up this morning with both eyes swollen and red. Called eye doctor and I have "Pink Eye" for the first time in my life. Best I can figure is that I got it from one of the shopping carts at the stores. I normally make sure to wipe the handles with a disinfecting wipe, but forgot last night. Geeez!

Anyway, here is KIrby on his first trip to Costco.

Junie...since I was Dx'd, I wear gloves EVERYWHERE now. At first I was just doing it b/c of hand foot syndrome. Now that HFS isn't as bad, I still wear them b/c I think it helps with germs. I have several pairs, and you wouldn't believe how filthy they get after just a couple of days. Rite Aid drug store sells cotton ones in a variety of colors besides standard white, too.

Husband has a bad cold...hope I don't get it. I do have to take the gloves off to do certain things, ha ha, so I also have to resort to lots of hand washing and basically trying to keep fingers away from mouth, eyes, nose, etc.

Taking car to an insurance-approved body shop next week. Deductible is only 500 bucks. This is the second time someone has messed up the poor car's rear end since we got it. People just don't care anymore. What ticks me off is that our premium will probably go up. It always does after an accident, no matter what. I'm on disability now, so I can't afford an increase in anything Bawling.

    Chevyboy Member Posts: 10,258

Okay... good idea about the cotton gloves! I'll have to take a look. Yes.... grocery carts..... Okay, I even carry a few wet-wipes in my hand-bag.... Now I just have to use them!

Also Junie, Kirbs is the MAN! I'll bet everyone stopped to say Hi to him... Such a dolly! I use the Breo inhaler once a day, then the "red" on, in between the Nebulizer.

Thanks Loverly for the tips.... and reminding me to make sure I hear the "click" on the Breo... I FEEL better.... just that racket in my chest when I lay down... I've got my pillows piled on top of each other...and it helps..

The weather was HOT yesterday.... 80 for awhile... And some kind of front is coming in tonight... rain and snow tonight into tomorrow... It's no WONder we aren't all sick!

Lita...reminds me to check into our Insurance rates... coming due.... house and car. I'm the only one that drives now.... DH HAS an older car, and can drive it IF he needs to, and the insurance is paid, and IF it is running, and the battery isn't dead, he DOES have his license.... Hah!Just something I think he hates to 'give up"....

I know we are both "older"..... but I've never had an accident, nor anything more than a warning..... Like "STOP GOING 35 in a SCHOOL ZONE".... or TAKE THAT CRYSTAL PENDANT OFF OF YOUR REAR VIEW MIRROR"......

THAT time I got stopped because I saw this POLICE car, lights flashing, but stopped!!!! I drove by slowly, thinking "Why are 10,000 lights on... he has no-one pulled over?"

Okay... seems though we have a new LAW just went into effect, you must PULL OVER IF YOU SEE FLASHING LIGHTS... AND PULL OVER MEANS INTO THE FURTHEST LANE YOU CAN GET TO, WITHOUT RUNNING SOMEONE ELSE OFF THE ROAD! " Damnit! I was clueless......! So after scaring the B-geezus out of me, he not so politely found something ELSE wrong, like my crystal pendant... instead of writing me up for breaking the LAW that I had never heard of! So THAT ticket was only $30 instead of whatever ELSE I almost got a ticket for!!! So DON'T JUST DRIVE BY THEM.... MOVE THE HELL OVER GIRLS!!! i SHOULD have smacked him! I should have written HIM a ticket for elder abuse!!!

Woke up to a little more snow. Not as bad as the other day but it means more shoveling. Maybe it will be light enough that I can just push it out of the way.

Beautiful day here in Portland! Visiting my friend that is a BC survivor. She is participating in a storytelling event.

Junie-wish I had had more time and a way to come and meet you and Kirby. His Costco pic is adorable. Hope the pink eye clears up quickly.

    Waving hello to everyone els

Sensi ~ Wow! What an image! Full of both power and peace. Beautiful. How many story tellers will be participating at the event? Cool your friend is so gifted. Nothin' like getting swept away by a good tale.

JunieB ~ Ugh....pink eye. Sneaky stuff that is sooo easy to pick up no matter how careful you are. Hopefully the doc gave you meds to clear your eyes up quick. Good thing you got treatment right away. Untreated, pink eye can cause permanent damage. Having had horrible near slightness most of my life, eye stuff is wayyyyy scary to me. My bestie and DS are the same. Otherwise we are wicked brave! (also why I am so po'd that my vision is wonky now.....I spent lotsa $$$$ to get my eyes lazered to be 20/20)

KIRBY!!!!!!!!!! Oh he is just a wittle wuvvims. Hims the cutest wittle boy ever 💕💕

Love, love the ecard you sent me. Big (((hugs))) my sweet thoughtful friend. Pris greatly enjoyed it too. Not for the motion, but for the music! She sat next to me with the funniest look on her little face, ears wide open, listening with her entire being. I wonder what the piano music sounded like to her? I need to see if I can video her listening! The only other music she really likes is Taylor Swift. Reallly. If I need to keep her busy I just play some of her videos for the kitty.

    SOOO

I had the MRI and did not explode. The area of the oops is disturbingly sore. Queenie is correct - there is only a problem if a ferromagnetic metal is involved. Surgical hardware is supposed to stay inside the body and is made of safe materials. My oops is part of a broken surgery thingie and was not supposed to remain trapped in my spine. It IS ferromagnetic metal. That is why a multitude of experts were consulted bfore this scan. And only one radiologist in the state agreed to scan me. I would bet this was a one time only deal.

Results hopefully Monday. Very scared that there might be more of the buggers to show up now that there is a nice clear image to look at.

I totally should embark on a major crime spree while waiting for surgery. Maybe after a nap........

Although I am so awfully scared n' stuff, I think of all you wonderful, wonderful ladies and feel soo comforted by your love, kindness, wisdom and Holy Smokes.

Blessings to you my dear friends💗

Oh man! I was so worried that they would need to pry you off the MRI machine! Whew! Glad you are still here with us. Your case will probably make history in the radiology world! So sorry you are sore where they left the metal. Are they and how do they keep an eye on it? Grateful you are comforted by the Holy Smokes.

I am going to dognap that Kirby! What a cutie pie! Yuck to the pink eyes. The first time I had it was when we were on the boat escaping VN when I was nine. Woke up in the morning and could not open my eyes because they were tightly sealed by the crusty discharge. Thought I went blind. And then I found out that my sister and one of my cousin also had the same thing. Can you imagine the panic in us three girls? My poor Aunt was trying convince us all that we are not going blind while trying to get the gunk out of our eyes with a damp cloth. BBL dinner time.

JunieB, I was in the backyard with Mitzy and guess what she did right after she found an "interesting" smell on the pavement? She lowered her front legs, turned her face sideway, and started to rub her right neck on the pavement! I could not scream any quicker. Ran over to me right away with the " I am sorry Mommy, I couldn't help myself" look. Had to wipe her down really well. Yuck! Here she is looking toward the front of the house at our gardener and trying not to bark.image

Not sure if she is trying to protect me or trying to get my protection. Probably the later. Ha! She barks at him every Saturday morning and when I tell her to stop, she whines. I guess the mower and blower are scaring her silly.

Ms. Chevy, you should have written that policeman a ticket. Haha. Here in California, we are supposed to safely move over to next lane away when the police stops on the side road with lights flashing.

Shepk, on Thursday around 4:00 pm, I got a text from Peppy saying that surgery went well and that she is waiting for pathology report result.

MammaRay sends her love. She is going through rough time.

    Sensi, have fun!

Welcome Cookiegal!! Sorry you have to start all over again with the waiting for the biopsy result.

Just wondering if anyone had heard from Sas-Schatzie? I know she was taking a break. Hoping she hasn't left permanently.

Ok here's the results. The tumor by my bronchial tube is smaller. The tumor in my cervical spine is much smaller. Those were the only ones we talked about and I didn't think about that at the time. There's a tumor at the bottom of my right lung and in my lumbar spine. I need to ask. Test results are on the patient portal but I can't really decipher much except 31% reduction overall.

Doc wants me to have 6 more weeks of this chemo, then scan again. I told him I was serious about not doing any more chemo because it's been so hard on my body. He gave me 3 options

    1. Do 6 more weeks and hope it's all in remission then switch to a milder treatment

    2. Switch to a milder treatment now

    3. Quit entirely. If I did, I would probably not last longer than 4-6 months, tops.

That's kind of the nutshell version. I didn't do chemo Thursday, they never could get my port to draw and didn't bother after I saw doc.

I need to call and ask a couple more questions, like what would the milder treatment be, and what about those other spots.

It was a rough couple of days, Thursday and Friday, and with a houseguest over the weekend we've kind of talked around it, but at this point I'm strongly drawn to option 2.

On the Homefront, DH has stopped self-medicating and promised to take care of himself. Fingers crossed

Mags, Mags, MAGS!!! Oh holy shamoli! I don't blame you if you can't understand any of what your Docs said.... Or even just some of it. GOOD idea to ask about the different treatments.... Get them all explained, and THEN decide what you want to do.... Listen real close.... It is all up to you, and what you think you can take, after they explain it to you....

Even given the most aggressive treatment, ask what the prognosis is..... What THEY think you can take.... You are really holding it all together, even with the little bit of good news! Just feel happy about that.... AND your Husband! Maybe with a little encouragement from him, it will make all the difference in the world!

I don't know what I would do if I were in your shoes.... But you seem to really have a handle on it..... We all have choices.... Sometimes it's all a crap-shoot....And those damn side-effects ! Okay.... just glad to hear from you..... hang in there girl! xoxo

Owlettes, please welcome my dear friend pinkninja! We went through chemo together first time around, and she has joined the ranks of Stage 4 gals.

Please behave yourselves at least until she's acclimated, ok?

P.S. Warning, pink, Chevy may rename you and someone will certainly post beefcake. But we are real. Warts and all

Beatmon, I spoke with Ms. Sas last Thursday. She is taking a break. She was overwhelmed by all the discouraging and sad news. She had lost her cousin to BC around the time she left.

    Teka and Mommy, BRRRRRR

Ms. S, I have not heard from Peppy since Thursday of last week.

Mags, good to hear about DH and yay to 31% reduction. Going with option 2 makes sense given the fact that Halaven has been so hard on your body. I have been thinking about you.

Jazzy, for a few milli second I thought you met someone special in Vegas. Ha!
