    Happy Anniversary M0mmy!

    Hi MammaRay!

Just resting from having a bad tooth pulled this morning. Love my pain pills! My checkup wasn't as bad as I thought it would be after chemo and rads... 1 extraction and 2 fillings. I'll make an appointment with a dental surgeon to discuss getting implants as my partials won't fit anymore, I'll probably go with the partials. Decisions decisions???

Went to see the oldest church in Amsterdam, De Oude Kerk. The top picture is not mine. Couldn't find a good spot to take a panoramic picture of the church. By the time we found it, I was too closeLoopy

Close up side view of the church.

    The tower.

Right in front of the church...

The church was smack in the middle of Red Light District!

I wouldn't dare go down the street where the women display their access in the window. No photos allowed. I heard you risk getting thrown into the canal if they caught you snap a photo of them.

    image

We wanted to leave the area before it got dark because we heard that you will get a different crowd at night. Thank God the sun doesn't go down until after 10:00 pm here this time of the year.

Was able to climb the bell tower, but disappointed that we didn't get to see the sanctuary. image

imageVery narrow stairs to the top.

Hi Lori, people are quite friendly here. Yes, thank you. I do watch my surroundings, but forget and let my guard down when I am in awe with the architectures/structures.

Feline, you are right..,.everything is enormous in America.

    Hey Patty!!!

Ms. Sas, very cute how Donnie is trying to be the role model for Nick.

Getting late. I need to hit the sack soon or I will look like a raccoon tomorrow.

Lover so interesting! When you think about it, Jesus went out of his way to minister to people who were 'outcasts' socially so red light district seems a good place to have a church.

There is a church called St. Anne's in the Shandon district in the heart of Cork City (Ireland) where you are allowed ring the bells when you have climbed the bell tower. (There are also some sheets which tell you how to ring various tunes). Not unusual to hear baa baa black sheep ringing out!

Loverly, loving the pictures. Yes, it is very cute and unexpected that my rough and tumble guy is trying to be a role model for Nick. Plus, he has taken the role of limit setter which is nice b/c I don't have too.

Cute Mags :) How are the teeth?

Patty, I wish you'd drop in more often, but I will take what I can get. Hugs. Yes, that's THE tub. Hahahaha

Remodel: The fellas are working on more stuff. The money is leaking like a sieve. Oh well.

I took my first soak in the tub. Lot's of things to think about when running it. First turn it on, the flow is powerful and the hot water is on real quick. The legs have to be positioned right and the water temp controlled to prevent a burn. Old tub had to be run for a few minutes until hot water came in. I can see all the different bells and whistles are very nice, but it comes with a high price tag. A simpler tub is available. I went this route b/c of installation and the WARRANTY. It's a true end to end life time warranty, but it is not a transferrable warranty.

Another feature that I think will be worked out in time by all the companies is door entry. All the models, the door is narrow. Getting in and out would be very difficult for someone over 250 lbs and or leg mobility problems b/c of the door. The drop of the step out would be a problem for someone with significant hip or knee problems.

Loveroflife - Glad to hear you are enjoying Amsterdam and thanks for the photos. Looks like you are having some lovely weather. Enjoy the canal tour and Van Gogh! How have your dining experiences been? Hope you have been able to sit back and enjoy just being there.

Sassy - Glad you got to enjoy your new tub finally.

Loverly - The pics are incredible! Are you going to try any of the local cuisine? Interesting tidbit about your ancestor too.

Yay Mags! Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your mouth is feeling much better as well. I am going to celebrate with a massage later today. Actually it was already scheduled, but Wednesday seems like a good reason too.

    Geriatric Massages

Wenchie - Your garden is probably loving the rain. We are supposed to be getting rain here today or tomorrow, but this weekend is supposed to spike up on the heat level. Argh! I don't do well with the heat.

Feline - What tower where you referring to? Can you post a pic?

Well, Kirby has come down with round worm. Vet said it comes from pet potty areas or dog parks. Kirby has never been to a dog park, so that leaves the apartments pet area here. Poor little guy had to take 2 huge pills to kill those nasty buggers. He then proceeded to throw up all over the carpet about an hour after taking the med. So I was shampooing carpet at about 9:00 p.m. Kirby felt so bad.

Treatment was $28.00 for the fecal exam & $48.00 for the med. So now that I know there are worm eggs in the area, Kirby now wears shoes. I took him to the pet supply yesterday and it was hilarious to watch him dance around with his shoes on. He makes a clip clop sound when he walks. Too funny. Quite the challenge to get them on him by myself though.

Hello Wren! I hope you are having a nice Spring up North there.

Okay, I have errands to take care of, so I'll sign off for now. Have a great day everyone!

Shopping center with many boutiques. I went back to check out the inside today ( just for you my friend) and didn't make it very far before I made some damage to DH's wallet on something silly like two bottles of facial care products.

Celia, the weather has been really nice. Rain is forecast for Friday, the day after we leave Amsterdam. Dining experience has been good. Flew all the way to Amsterdam to have Indonesian foodLoopy two days in a row!

This is as close to local food as we got:

    Love their fries

Not your typical pannenkoeken, but it was delicious. If we have time tomorrow we will try to find a restaurant that serves their pancake.

I would love to have the bath tub in my house, Ms. Sas.

Junie, oooh massage. Nice! I can imagine Kirby walking with the booties. Hahaha. My Sis' dog walks funny with them. She takes steps then alternating kicking out her hind legs. It is hilarious.

Feline, the church was the oldest building in Amsterdam so I think the Red Light District came after. So mad at myself for forgetting to ask the tour person at the Old church about the history. I thought about the outreach also.

Oh Celia, Van Gogh was great! Canal cruise was good, but could be better. I prefer person guide over audio. We got headsets.

    image

Not ticket line, but line to get in. There was another longer line for ticket. Glad I pre-purchased the tickets. I behaved myself and didn't take any photos inside the museum. I did see a few people snap their cameras though. It was tempting.

Didn't see Starry Night. What is your favorite of his work? I like his Peasant Life paintings. Somehow, I can relate to his feelings about the idea of the simplicity of life. Brilliant man! So sad about his life though.Would love to read his letters to his dear brother and friends.

Oh Loverly, LOVING the pictures... Kirk Douglas played in a movie from the 50's(1955?)about Van Gogh. It was a highly rated film, but for some reason wasn't shown much. Even on Turner Classic Movie channel, I have only seen it once, but it was fairly recent. I'm a life long old movie buff watching since childhood. Consider trying to see the movie once you get home. His trials and tribulations were poignant. Kirk Douglas did well by the story. Perhaps b/c it was a painful story it wasn't showed much. I dislike much of what was done in the 50's b/c of the film noire thing. But this picture wasn't in that vein so much. It's intense.

Junie so happy to see you here. UGH round worms. Besides Schatzi getting attacked at the dog park(stitches), the vet said many dogs came to them with worms of different types that previously they didn't have. I stopped taking her there. A tax supported dog park, that is not regulated for dogs that haven't good care, that we, that are paying the tax, have to discontinue use of the facility b/c of negligent owners. AND the county won't do anything to correct the situation. That's shitty, literally. Perhaps you can call the county or city that is in control of the property. They have responsibility for the "common grounds" The common grounds include the dog area. They should be responsible for the application of "something" to prevent spread of worms.

Junie, Push Me Push me, to remember to call my lawn service Slug-A-Bug. I can raise the question re: what's available? It's part of why my dogs are run on the farm road. Not many out there and we never run them when anyone else is out there. It's a Nirvahna (sic) for dogs.

Loverly and Celia, I'm not traveled much, but when we moved to Brevard county Florida a tour of the Space Center was a must. On the tour bus, the audio was going. Then the bus driver cut in and said as we were going around the corner towards the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) "Look out of the right window, there is an alligator in the canal.". I thought the double decker would over turn. :). My thought: A prehistoric animal in front of the VAB that assembled the shuttle that went into space. Cool.

Loveroflife - Maybe they changed the format of the canal cruises from people to audio since I was last in Amsterdam. Top 2 fave Van Gogh's are Cafe Terrace at Night & Starry NIght - remember that song, Starry, Starry Night? In your 1st food pic, looks like you may have tried a Rijstafel meal. Benedict Cumberbatch played Van Gogh in a BBC documentary Painted with Words, that DH and I both enjoyed. Looks like you have had a nice time in A'dam. Where to next?

Loveroflife - Caught Starry, Starry Night and other Van Gogh's at MoMA in NYC in November 2016 with DS & DD, along with lots of other great art, including a very large Monet's Water Lillies. It was a wonderful time, as it was my last blast before returning home to biopsy, diagnosis & the BC journey. Will be going back to NYC area on 6/24 for 9 days - may have to revisit. I saw on one of your posts that you will be going to the Hermitage in Russia - how wonderful - that is on my "dream" list of museums.

On the way to my massage the bus I was on clipped the mirror of a car parked next to the road, so I had to get off and walk 3 blocks to catch the next bus to my appt. I walked in the clinic at exactly my appt. time. I was so worked up over the thought of keeping the therapist waiting that she had to tell me to slow down and take a deep breath. By the time she had finished I was CALM, RELAXED and ready for a NAP. But there were still errands to take care of.

Kirby managed to keep his shoes on almost all day and was so tired on the ride home he fell asleep halfway on the walker and halfway on my lap. So cute that one.

Loverly - The pictures are amazing. Are you going to get to see the Anne Frank museum too? The chandelier in the boutique is breath-taking too. Is the pannenkoeken a breakfast food or dessert?

Sas - The vet said that the only way to completely get rid of the worm eggs in the grass/soil is to take a torch to the area to kill them, then start over with a new lawn. Apparently it takes high heat to kill the buggers. However the management here at the apts. will never go for that, hence the shoes for Kirby.

So sad that our public servants can't go to an event for charity or anything without being fearful of being attacked. I am glad though that they will all recover. There was also a shooting at a UPS facility in San Francisco today as well.

Well I'll say goodnight for now. My eyes and body are telling me it's time for that nap now. Sleep well everyone.
