I hate scary movies & tv. Unfortunately that's what DH loves. We are so different; he can turn on the tv and fall asleep, but having grown up in a household with tv only on Saturday mornings and evenings, a tv will hold my attention even when I'm not interested in or don't like what's on. I mostly sit with a game and earbuds and try not to watch but this month has just been awful. Tonight it was Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Holy cow. Did you know they won Gettysburg by using silver bullets & cannonshot? Who knew.

Worst part is the stuff raises my blood pressure and now I have to calm down before I can go to sleep. Was up half the night last night with abdominal cramping and big D. Need some zzzzs.

  • mags. Hope tonight us different. Hope you get to sleep soon sand sleep comfortably all night.

  • Hello everyone,  Its so fun being awake and everyone in my neighborhood

is asleep. Hope everyone will have a wonderful week, or try too. Sleep

has never been a gift to me before, and now with machines, noises and

sleep challenges, it is. 2_time_around I love that picture, it made my day.

    Take care, Debbie

Morning gals! Blondie! I had washed my living room
sheers.... And when I hung them back up, I saw a Lady Bug on one of them! I
thought "Oh Noooo!" So I scooped her up, and put her in the huge hanging
philodendron plant.... (no relation to phyllidink) THEN I saw her TAKE off, and
make a BEE-line for the back door!

So I opened the door, and she CRAWLED out! I kept picking her up with a
paper, and moving her, and she finally flew off! I thought of you the whole
    time! Tragedy averted....

Ha, ha! You called her foots! Sorry you can either breathe or sleep...
But I guess One is better than none? Thinking of you....!

Peppermint! You and Cammi love scary
movies! I remember we had super 8 movies... on the reel? And we would show
them to the girls when they were little... This was about 1965! And later on I
had them all converted to vhs.... even our old movies of when they were tiny,
    and growing up!

TANG! How sweet! Another beautiful kitty! THANK you for
... what is it, a girl or boy?

Yes Blessings! Tang, that is a beautiful collar, but I
will send her a soft one? What are her preferances? He's a HE?

MAGS!!! Holy canoly! Can you just go in another room, or
turn it off when "He" goes to sleep? We need you to get your rest....

Hi Foots! Did you see Blondie called you Foots? Yes,
SOMEone is always awake around here... I'M the one that is up first, because I
go to bed so early! Oh wait.... she has a real name girls.... She is
"Debbie"! I love that, but Foots is fun too!

So no-one else is up? Not Spookie, Cammi or Sass? Not even Teka? Or
2222222222? Well guess that's it! Talk to you later! xoxoxo

It was good to wake up at 3:45 and putz around and have this thread to come read. I already hit the NYtimes and read about Marsha Strassman diagnosed 07 same as me. Sleep .. is fractured. Had a good day yesterday. Got to have lunch with my daughter up at college. Great to see her before she headed off to work. Got my other kid off to dorms without too much drama. Saw my oldest at her foster home. She has a bad cold and is coughing but on the upswing. She's lost her voice and sounds pretty funny even for a deaf kid. Visited with her foster Mom who I like every much. So I got to see all my kids. Yay. Everyone is doing well.

I think I will make plans to fly and see my Mom in Sarasota. I was going to postpone but I don't thik I have much time left. Starting to feel exactly the way I did last year around this time. Tired, heart banging around, rate high, sore back, sore leg... the beasties are eating out the marrow again. Been here done this.. several times. Aromasin not cutting it. So I want to be able to withstand the flight and sitting for 6+ hours.. It'll be a short visit, hi, love you - bye.  Then home. Sitting straight on an airplane seat just kills my back at the best of times - that and my feet and left arm(from the nodes removed) blows up like puffer fish. I hate flying because of this.

Do any of you know if you go down to the social security office to pre-file for SS for your college age kid and middle school kid? I have never taken any of my benefits, so I don't know. I want to set it up. Starting to fuss about fixing things here. Lots to get done. Too many projects with loose ends.

My 11 year old retarded cat Zoey is so sound asleep on my lap, head hanging off- she looks dead. She twitches and dreams. Poor cat has had such dental issues that all her teeth have been removed and her mouth is floppy like an old person without dentures.. pretty funny. She is sweet but clearly didn't get enough oxygen at birth - afraid of everything and just terminally dingy! We sure know how to pick em! The above black and white kitty is so young and pretty! touchable. I love that age, adolescent kittenhood! I hope he lives to a ripe old age.

Have a great day. We are in between rain storms. Blondie I hope you enjoy the shore! R&R! We used to go to Chincotique (sp?) in the winter and stay at a little B&B. Loved it. Loved seeing the ponies wind blown manes as they stood wild on the dunes. It's beautiful there even in the winter. Take care ya'll.

Finally got rid of the stupid sinus headache that plagued me off and on all weekend. Didn't get much sleep last night between the hubby and then the garbage and recycling trucks coming around about 4 this morning!

Morning Rosie... Glad the kids are all straightened out, and everything is
    going well.

Okay, yes.... go see your Mom.... You must live on the other coast? I
forget now.... Can you talk to your Doc about what to do,  or take before you leave? I have
compression stockings, and I wear them all the time...

That sitting, and not moving around just makes it worse for you.... Maybe
    get an aisle seat?

If you go to the airport with a cane, they will ask if you want a
wheel-chair, and then say yes! You will get on the plane first... ! My
Daughter did that for me, and we DID go on with the other wheel-chair
people..... I didn't NEED it, but it really helped... and you need to be taken
care of.  And to be able to get up and walk around a little.

They also have those compression things for your arm...or arms! It might
    make it more comfortable.

I'm just so sorry about all you are going through.... glad you are here
    with us posting....!

Call Social security first.... then they will tell you what you need to
do~! We've been taking care of our "stuff" also.... You have to do it sooner
or later, and doing it a little at a time, sort of helps.

We even got our cremation plans, and paid for them.... So much easier than
    thinking about it later on!

My folks had theirs done and paid for.... so did my Grandma... And it made
it so much easier on me and my Brother.

That is so sweet about Zoey! I love cats!

  • Kitty was named by oldest dd...she said the name came from one of the kitties in The Aristocats, dh says it's also the name of a french artisit that drank absinthe. We thought kitty was a she, but now it turns out she is a he :)

The collor is just too big for him because he's tiny.

I read about Marsha Strassman too, it's always jarring to see a story about someone passing because of BC. When I was a kid I used to love Welcome Back Kotter :)

Sleep has been hard to come by for me lately too. I thought I was out of that phase, but guess not. I also have a swollen tummy...this has been going on for awhile now and I guess I need to talk to MO about it.

Teka-we never get trick or treaters on our street either. We live toward the back of the neighborhood and are at the end of the street and it IS dark down here.

    ((hugs))

    Good morning Owlettes,

Just wanted to wish everyone a pain free day. Loving this cooler weather, and the weatherman just said we might get rain by the weekend. Sure be glad when this election is over, hate all of the commercials, the billboards, and phone calls.

My fur babies are doing well, even the new addition to my family. My energy level is improving.  I will see the liver tumor doctor on Thursday to review my last CT scan. But I'm feeling so much better these days.

Heading out to work. Hugs to all.

  • Just a little sad today!  Had lunch at mom's yesterday and there was this dog that has showed up at her house!  She is almost a twin for my Bessie who we lost due to someone poisoning her! :(  Anyway, went there again for lunch today and she is still there, but my dad said they can't keep her!  She is so lively and loving and full of life and she so needs a home!  I can't take her, my hubby said no and I understand because we already have 6 dogs and a bunch of cats!  But it so makes my heart hurt when people dump their so called pets!  I just don't understand how anyone can do this!

    End of Rant!

Chevy- got my tickets yeah! I have compression stockings and the arm sleeve. Although the arm sleeve won't fit because my arm is too big now. I hate wearing it, very uncomfortable. I will just tough it out on the plane, as always. It will be nice to see them, my brothers and Mom all live in Sarasota. They have nice beaches there and beautiful birds. The last time I was on a plane the stewardess gave me grief for not sitting down.. I was standing back of the plane near the bathrooms. Standing is much better then sitting.

Haven't paid for my cremation yet. Four choices here in town. We have a good friend who is a funeral director and does it all. Kind of weird though.. hmm. What do I care at point eh? I makes me laugh that it bothers me, so silly. Gorgeous day here. I just woke up from sleep number 2... better. whew.

Anyway got to get going. I have not seen a doctor since June and do not need anything. Had my port flushed in July. I'm with Blondie- enough already. I watch with amazement at the eagerness folks here on the board rush to take any treatment and drug. It just amazes me. I feel exactly the opposite- the more exposure to "medicine/ treatment"  I get - the less I want any of it. Pavlov response I guess? I have been carefully taught to avoid it, negative reinforcement. You can only get your fingers smashed so many times, before you won't put them out there again.

Talouse is a great name for a cat. I loved that character in Aristocats! Beautiful kitten.

  • I wasn't sure where to ask this...so i thought I'd come here and ask you wise ladies :)

So, how do I go about getting a breast prosthesis? Do I get a rx from a doctor for it so that my insurance pays for it. Right now I'd have no out of pocket cost since I'm at my dedcutible so I'd like to try to do this soon. How does one go about getting foobs?

The ridiculous has gotten more ridiculous. Part of my therapy is using the warm water hose many times a day. HOT WATER HEATER is broke. Estimated time to fix is thurs. or fri. So, I will need to use cold water. HMMMM  Cold water on my poor lady parts 7-10 times a day.

Part need to come from minn. I think.

I read this morning and forgot already. ATIVAN , you know , mommy's little helper. Sorry anyone has pain. Sorry about Strassman.

    DBF here YAY

Tang, maybe the Mods would know of someone in your area?  Or your Oncologist or PC?   I would ask one of those first, for the Insurance part!

Tang what I miss-----------duh only one post back. The PS took care of all the particulars, not sure how involved the BS was. I tried there office their closed it's almost 6 here.

  • yeah i was thinking BS...guess I could try PS

Sassy....the water and lady parts thing saounds awful ((hugs))

    spookiesmom - the 4th.

Blondie - the port is fine.

Tangandchris- any mastectomy shop will sell prosthetics. The American cancer catalog you pick up at the oncologists office also has ones for sale. They are pretty decent too. Much cheaper then the shops. But catch is you have to pay for them upfront and then send in for reimbursement from your insurance company. Each insurance company is different and has different rules. Keep your receipts, make copies when you send it in. Make sure what ever you get is weighted if it's foam... otherwise it migrates. There are some hilarious stories on the boards about migrating foobs.. howled! So very hilarious.. especially in swim suits. Of course our sense of humor is a tad warped after all we go through. The silicone ones feel more normal, but they can be hot. Good luck.

Nettie sorry about the pooch.  She has a beagle look, try calling a beagle rescue in your local. I couldn't take her. Had a beagle/schanuzer mix. Loved the dog for 15 years. But they are runners and houdinis'. I still have a Houdini(Dini).  10,500 for a fence and the dog just jumps over it.  Schatzi comes in a rats him out.  Your other little dog I thought would be easy to keep in. Besides I'm ready for a lap dog that is a lap dog. Not an 80 pounder that thinks they are lap dogs.

Google "Beagle Rescue". Pooch rescues will take a dog that fits their breed even if they are mixed. Beagle lovers are a special breed and special people that love them. Of course, I think that's the way it is with so many breeds. We get a great dog and attach to the breed, thinking they are all that way. Good Luck!

Tang--I was thinking internal foobs. But the PS and BS should get you in the right direction Good Luck.

Thanks for commiserating. It's always something.

Tang now have it figured out what you are looking for. I saved this from Bluebird and posted it in Just Diagnosed. What's nice about these for off time is they don't irritate scar tissue.

I love my Knitted Knockers! They are light and soft and warm. Unlike my silicone prosthetic which is heavy and cold when first worn, then it later causes me to sweat.

I wear my knitted knockers inside a regular bra or tucked in the pocket of a mastectomy bra. They are beautiful, and a godsend to those of us with an uneven mastectomy scar.

DBF and I are having troubles, but the one person I can depend on in trouble is him :) And a Phillips head screw driver and a warranty.
