Coban is the human equivalent of Vetwrap. They are great products. And very versatile. Word of caution they are somewhat elasticized so use caution as to tightness, and have a layer of kling or gauze underneath. I now take some with me. I have been told it is used in one facility I was at in their pediatric end- to save pulling tape off kids!
Also tagging for chlorhexidine sensitivity.

Trickling, hope you are doing better! Kidney stones suck. I have had way too many in the past year, and some good size ones. Def not fun. I was surprised at the nausea thougj. It never crossed my mind that kidney stones cayse that. Hugs and hoping its your last one, ever.

JJ - thanks for the info about Coban

Hello, again! I now have a new computer. Fortunately, a friend in the know recommended a refurbished laptop, which should be like new. Sorry for the unexpected temporary "disappearance" due to the loss of my computer -- especially to MinusTwo.
Left Breast: Due to bureaucracy and scheduling, I will not begin physical therapy for preventive lymphedema until the beginning of December. The delay means my plans regarding sculpting are in limbo as I have long desired to do MIG welding. Only now, have I finally found a place which offers instruction and studio time that I can access. I first need to seriously discuss this endeavor relative to my recent surgery.
Just so you all know: other than the incision area obviously feeling more and more tough (I assume from scar tissue -- something I did not previously experience in this manner) I am doing quite okay. As in the past, I am not pursuing any treatments -- quality of life is paramount for me.
?? Did you notice that I added 3M Cavilon Film (with a link) to the introductory description? I can't stress enough the key factor of proper application.
Kidney stone: No further activity to report. Agreed: I'd like to think it will stay that way . . . forever.
@Moonflwr912 My heart goes out to you. I can hardly grasp that you had several experiences with kidney stones during this year, alone!
@JJ62 Please continue to keep us posted with details as to using Coban.
As I have previously proudly made known: I looove CANADA!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. It is my favorite holiday.

Trickling - so will you start PT this week? I had a certified Lymphadema physical therapist who was able to do a lot with deep scar tissue. Not to mention teaching me how to prevent future swelling due to the loss of lymph nodes.
I drove 4 hours north to see my BFF for 3 days at Thanksgiving. The average speed was 82-85 mph or you would get run off the road. The drive was not as bad as I imagined and my aging car did fine. We went to the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens, the Japanese gardens (my favorite with all the red & orange Japanese maples reflecting in the stream & pond by the Moon bridge) and the Kimball Art Museum before we ran out of energy. Of course we stayed up and talked every night until 2am and killed several bottles of wine.

@ MinusTwo My initial evaluation for education/physical therapy regarding Lyphedema this morning turned out to be so positive that I was given daily exercises to perform without having to schedule physical therapy sessions. Even when I inquired about specifically addressing the decidedly thick, toughened muscles, I was shown how to gently massage myself but strictly cautioned not to perform the massaging until getting official clearance from my surgeon. I believe my surgeon will grant this via my simply emailing her. From what I gather, if I do everything regularly, I should at the very least start noticing improvement in 3 months -- all this with the caveat that improvements could occur much more quickly or somewhat later.
I was also provided with some literature as to cancer group and individual activities available via my new local hospital. I haven't examined to literature but intend to and hope to find some exercise classes or whatever to my liking.
As far as my sculpting, I am resigned to have to personally forego learning to do MIG welding. I am grateful to be able to continue to search for a a place to learn heavy duty soldering (soldering thick copper wire rather than computer mother board type of soldering). Oh how I wish my apartment building featured even tiny balconies. Many of you may be lucky enough to have garages or backyards where soldering and other types of activity/repairs quite naturally take place. Feel to encourage to whoever is involved in the doing or permitting the garage stuff doing!
Soooo, not surprisingly, Texas drivers zoom along at Texas sized speeds! Glad you could keep it up for 4 hours, MinusTwo! I Googled images for the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. ?? Did you have to walk everywhere? At the Chicago Botanical Gardens, there is also an internal train for adults/children. It has been a while since I enjoyed getting on/off at the various sections of the vast gardens. You have re-kindled my desire to visit -- even if winter snows wonderfully coat the area!
@ Moonflwr922 ?? Are you already all snowy in Port Washington, WI?
BTW, in my search for images of the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens, I came across the following spectacular image from Waco of squashes and gourds. I had never seen or heard of such HOUSES++ (You may have to copy/paste this URL.) ?resize=1200%2C778

Trickling - We had to walk and it was a LOT of walking - probably 4 hours. My legs were really sore by the end. The Dallas Arboretum has similar gourd displays, but we didn't get there this time.
Glad to hear your LE evaluation was positive. Can't remember if I posted this LE link for you . This site was set up with lots of work by some BCO women and has some really good ideas. https://stepup-speakout.org/
Hope you are successful in your welding class search. Do you have "junior colleges" in Chicago? We have lots here & many offer such classes. Granted for people wanting to learn for jobs, but the knowledge could just as well be applied to art projects.

You might want to check out this "tai chi breather" thread too. I keep forgetting to do this.

@ MinusTwo Alas! I just lost my long(probably too gossipy) reply when I went to duplicate the tai chi link. No time to try re-entering until later this week. That tai chi link has a clear graphic for a simple, quick, and apparently super effective exercise for lymph glands. THANK YOU THANK YOU.

@ Moonflwr912 Since you are far north, have you already had any of those ice balls forming along the shore? Anyone else have ice balls? Actually, it is not a common phenomena and the process is akin to the formation of hail travelling through temperature changes in the atmosphere.
I still vividly remember my first sighting of the ice balls along Chicago's shore a few years ago. So far, while we are having cold weather, Chicago hasn't had much snow or ice and the roads are clear.
Okay, so I just decided to do a Google search = ice balls lake NAME = and came across a neat site. Keep scrolling to the end of the link for a unique surprise in SICILY. https://www.metabunk.org/debunked-ice-boulders-on-great-lakes-caused-by-geoengineering-natural-but-rare-ball-ice.t3776/

Talked to a lady in Cleveland today who said Lake Erie is almost frozen over. She said that negates the lake effect snow. But NOT the cold.
Trickling - we actually had light snow on Monday. I'm hunkered down for the duration.

@ MinusTwo = Smart move: your hunkering down because Houston had light snow on Monday! Hope you had a good book Sounds like your friend in Erie needs a whole library of books .

didnt have the ice balls this year, but had them others. Had pancake ice though. Looks like ice pancakes filling the lake front. Kind of cool. They actually saw a snowy Owl fir the 2nd year around here, and just up north if us, a nice size mountain lion.

@Moonflwr912 That looks like an amazing LINX to me!
Thanks for the size comparison pictures.

@ MinusTwo Joining you in get well wish for Moonflwr912.

@ Moonflwr912 Since I suspected that what you called "pancake ice" might be what I have always thought as "lilypad ice, I Googled them. Same thing. While searching, I also discovered some other neat ice formations + brief explanations of the phenomena. Oooh -- thanks!

Apostle Island Ice caves. Only open when the ice in the lake freezes solid enough to walk to them. This was last year. We are on track for them to be open this year too. Not my pictures but from the national park.

@ Moonflwr912 !!! Sensational !!! Lucky you are near - also enjoyed seeing so many folks with their pets !!! When I Googled = apostle island ice caves 2018, I learned that 2014 was a significant year for the caves. Yipes! One of the pictures showed a line of people -- well bundled up people -- that seemed to be a mile long. (You may have to copy/paste this URL) https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2014/02/a-frozen...
It has just hit me between the eyes that what would have taken millions of years in normal temperatures is arrayed in all its splendor in the relatively miniscule period of a single winter.

I also have all type of tape allergies from band aids to hyper allergic-cloth-paper tapes. When I spoke to the surgeon I asked what she was going to use as also I am allergic to stitching materials and staples. She said "super glue" she sent a sample home and I tried it to see if I would have a reaction. And yaa I did not. She also used a Waist Nipper to keep drains etc in place. hope this helps

@ Deb Z SUPER thanks! I intend to inquire about the medical "SUPER GLUE" in a few months when I meet with my surgeon. Some other folks have happily referred to medical "super glue".
Everyone: Try to KEEP posting your tips; otherwise, good stuff gets lost to history or buried among long ago posts.
I continue to secretly carry an unopened swab of 3D Cavilon Barrier Film (Amazon carries it) with me to medical appointments.in case it is not available if needed or -- sorry to say -- medical personnel refuse to contact another department, such as their wound department, to obtain some.
HOW
0 -
Trickling - I too always carry one or two individual packs of Cavilon Barrier Film wipes. And I usually have some Hypafix tape too, since that's really the only one that doesn't tear off my skin.
"Hypafix Dressing Retention Tape is a medical tape that can be used to securely hold wound dressings, catheters, ostomy appliances, and trach tubes in place. This dressing tape is made from soft, non-woven, water-resistant fabric. It keeps the wound moist, and also promotes airflow to reduce maceration."

I had my port removed yesterday. I asked them to put barrier cream on, but in the midst of getting to the OR, it was forgotten, even by me. Then I didnt take it off till this morning, trying to keep it on 48 hours. Wrong!
Heres the perfectly square red patch it left me, itches like crazy too. But it is better than before I removed the tape. LOL i have gauze over the stetistrips, and paper tape.
That is my chin above the surgical wound. LOL.

@ Moonflwr912 Yeow! Even the WI wolves are howling. Thanks for having the courage to share that even you forgot to make sure the staff applied the 3M Barrier product. [May I add: properly applied?] Sigh.
For anyone new to this thread, please take to heart the need to constantly be on the alert to fundamentals such as applying the products we know to be effective for ourselves. To insist on no injections, etc. in certain areas. Don't think this is paranoia. From my own experience and previous entries by others on this thread, >> "constant alert" may even apply to staff whom you already alerted, let alone to new staff. Furthermore, even if you are wearing a warning label and it is on your chart: Patient BEWARE.
Get well soon.

I am very fortunate not to have had to deal with ports. I am making an entry, here, regarding PORTS simply to let others know that there is actually a thread dealing with how long ports are left in and related experiences.

Hooray! I got to see the this morning's astronomical event that won't happen again for another 150 years.
?? Did anyone else see it?
Here's the link for Chicago, IL USA. It also includes a brief scientific explanation:
