I hear that some areas back there are dealing with a bit of flooding from a relative in Briggsville. Would love to see a couple days of rain out here, we need it badly.

Those guys are great! Love the double Scottish names of the fiddler. We heard Glen Campbell do that song live about two decades ago, at a show in Branson.

I played a fun pops concert last weekend with the Wisconsin Philharmonic in Brookfield. Next up on my schedule is the Nutcracker Suite in addition to Christmas choral pieces with the Concord Chamber Orchestra at St Josephat Basilica on the south side of Milwaukee the evening of Saturday, December 3 - that place has quite the acoustics.

Almost forgot about this thread since they changed the forum, however have not spent much time on the website either. Required several hours to rake the lawn (in brief spurts spread out over most of the month in order to not aggravate my lymphedema): it was nice to be outdoors in the unseasonal sunshine.

have really enjoyed our sunshine! we have been so lucky with weather this year

Had to have gallbladder surgery last week - the fun never ends - it was "stuck" to the liver & i ended up with a drain :( brought back bad memories if all those breast drains for me & DH - can't wait for it to come out!

Hoping to have a quick recovery - holidays coming up again! Can you believe all the commercials are full swing!?

Hope you WI ladies are in good health & good spirits!

You are so right. We have had a beautiful autumn this year.

Yes, Notbuyingit, sometimes it does seem that "the fun never ends." I hope you are feeling better each day. I had my own "fun never ends" this morning with another PRP to the Achilles tendon. OUCH! It is going to be a quiet week and a quiet holiday season for us. Approximately 3 months PT work to rehab.

Tomorrow is my four-year anniversary from the BMX. Stayin' alive!!!

    Congratulations on your anniversary, Onc!!

I have my annual mammo tomorrow & having an ultrasound done on my mastectomy side to see if there is anything ( besides nerve damage) causing all this pain. Scared to death as always that the big C will be found - honestly don 't think i could do it again.

Has anyone dealt with or heard anything about the WI Center for Myofacial Release in Kenosha?? Trying to find someplace for PT.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING, LADIES!!

Well even though I live in Connecticut, I did get a bit of the snow my family in Northern Wisconsin got. The only morning this week I haven't woke up to snow on the ground was today. Happy Thanksgiving to all my Wisconsin friends here!

notbuyingit, thank you. I hosted a little movie luncheon party to celebrate.

That WI Center for Myofacial Release website looks inviting. I have a massage therapist who does that and I love it.

I would call them and ask if they would give you a complimentary inquiry appointment to discuss treatment options at which you could ask more questions and get a feel of the place and people. Because so many of those modalities are not covered by insurance, perhaps they would be willing.

Good luck. Please let us know how it goes.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Thankful for this site and all the sisters here.

    Thank you for good wishes.

badger, PRP is Platelet Rich Plasma. The platelets are helpers in the healing process and this procedure is used for some injuries where the blood supply is normally low, such as tennis or golfers elbow, Achilles tendon and hamstrings. Mostly used in sports medicine. It is a newer procedure and not yet covered by insurance, so we pay at the door.I had a lot of old scar tissue from an earlier injury and some successive re-injuries.

They draw about 60 cc of blood and put it into centrifuge. Then the platelet layer is taken into syringe and injected into the area I got some good results with the first one in July, but there was still a hard spot that needed to be addressed. Thus the second one. The pain is not so much from the needle as it is from so much fluid (the platelets) going into a tiny area that is stretching to accommodate it. Pulling on the nerves I guess. The first week is quite painful, but after that it is better. Must wear a therapy boot for 6 to 8 weeks. It is baby-steps with the physical therapy. We get to develop the virtue of Patience as we must not over-do.

Onco, sounds like a cool technology but yikes painful. Good results from July is encouraging.

Took a brief walk in brisk air. Leaves are off the trees and the annuals all frost-bitten but lawns are still green.

I harvested a bunch of seed pods from a trumpet vine. Does anyone want some? They attract hummingbirds.

Here are some pix and a gardening website with more info. PM me if you do and I can mail 2U.

Just wondering if you found someone else to suggest in Dr. Hijawii's place yet? I am looking for someone but can't find anyone to measure up to him yet :)

John Hijjawi's colleague at Froedtert, Dr LoGuidice, also does DIEP microsurgery but I don't know of any of his patients personally. A couple years ago at a conference, I met one of the UW Madison MDs who had done his fellowship training with them. An option to consider if that facility is in your insurance network. Here in Waukesha county, the plastic surgeons only do implants.

We are having another deep freeze, the second episode this season! Don't you love when it's too cold to snow?

Did not wear my green & gold yesterday but will have tomorrow's Packer game on the TV by late afternoon...

Ladies- I know that it has been awhile - I do check in and read everything. :)

I need a referral to a medical oncologist in either Milwaukee or Madison. No new cancer, and no symptoms - that is fine. The issue is with hormonal treatments. I am having some issues and my gyncologist and oncologist have very different opinions. Personally, I am starting to think that possible high estrogen is screwing up other body parts in addition to my thyroid. I would love to find someone who is an endocrinologist with a background in how hormonal cancers work.

Any thoughts? And, thank you in advance. Hope all is well and hope everyone is having a great January!

Hi PB: you might try the UW in Madison for your endocrine concerns. Except for the bone/calcium specialist at Froedtert, I did not find that department particularly helpful in terms of oncologic issues. The staff I had encounters with in Milwaukee seemed to mostly focus on diabetes which is understandable given that huge patient population.

Escaped from the snow on a trip to celebrate hubby's retirement (two weeks in Hawaii) although he managed to catch a cold while there. We now both need to get back into a regular exercise routine...

It was in the 70's today! Record high temps are great but confusing to the plant life. Hope not too much distress when it freezes this weekend.

What is that white stuff on the ground?! Not enough to impair driving because I'll be playing violin with the Concord Chamber Orchestra at UW-Parkside this weekend: dress rehearsal today with concert tomorrow afternoon (their chorus will also be singing). Stop by if you're in the neighborhood...

:-) We only got an inch or two of snow but there's a coating of ice over everything. Got the mailbox open with a good thump but no luck opening the side door from the garage. Hoping the sun will melt it, otherwise I'll have to get out the hair dryer. Inconvenient to use the front door. Sure is pretty, though!
