    hi Laura, welcome! I'm with you. Give me the white ground over the detritus it covers. But love it when the land greens up in Spring.

    Louisa, even though I live in Connecticut currently, I am a Wisconsinite from birth. I was born and lived in the Northwestern corner for the first few years of my life. Still get back there to see family from time to time

    Shaping up to be another nice day, sunny but cold. Thinking of lasagna for supper mmmm.

    The robins are back! At least a dozen showed up in the neighborhood this morning. Spring is officially here.

    Suffering here again with the cold temps in Connecticut where I am. We had warm weather earlier this week and now it's freezing and windy. Where the heck did Spring go?

    A BS? Breast Surgeon I assume? Yes! Dr. Alonzo Walker at Froedtert. I have never had a breast exam the way he does it. I just seems his hands are so sensitive to the details. I did lots of research before I chose him 6 years ago. I would highly recommend him.

    Another suggestion would be Dr Walker's colleague at Froedtert, Amanda Kong. She was my surgeon six years ago. I continue to see her nurse practitioner. Having a team of breast specialists is key to getting good results!

    Louisa, I grew up in Racine so get back to that neck of the woods on occasion. A few years ago, I met a couple gals for lunch in Burlington. Once we're sure winter is over, a road trip could be fun. I don't want to drive in weather like we had on Monday if I don't need to...

    hi all, I posted this to the Book Lovers thread but thought I'd share here as WI-related.

    Took Monday off work due to snow and read Death on the Prairie by Kathleen Ernst. Good book! Very twisty. Didn't realize it was #6 in a series until I'd finished it, but that didn't detract from the readability.

    BTW, the author lives in Middleton WI, the heroine is a curator who works at Old World Wisconsin, and they visit a Little House site in Pepin WI.

    Chloe Ellefson and her sister, Kari, have long dreamed of visiting each historic site dedicated to Laura Ingalls Wilder. When Chloe takes custody of a quilt once owned by the beloved author, the sisters set out on the trip of a lifetime, hoping to prove that Wilder stitched it herself.

    But death strikes as the journey begins, and trouble stalks their fellow travelers. Among the "Little House" devotees are academic critics, greedy collectors, and obsessive fans. Kari is distracted by family problems, and unexpected news from Chloe's boyfriend jeopardizes her own future.     Well. Been weird year so far. I DID get the pukies and that took a week to get over. Then, got another kidneystone episide, but finally passed it. Then, being very stupid, I scheduled a very long, long, overdue colonoscopy. Just recovered from that on Friday.

    Heres hoping this spring will be so much better! LOL. 70 degrees here yesterday, 65 today. Sun shining and flowers popping up overnight.

    Louiseap, Im in Port Washington and dont mind driving for fun sometimes. Would be fun, weather permitting!

Our theme is LOVE, specifically as addressed by three different composers in their works inspired by Romeo & Juliet: a medley from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, along with pieces by Delius and Tchaikovsky.     Well, it was a fabulous performance: helped keep my mind off the fact that I unexpectedly spent half the afternoon Friday at Froedtert and now need an MRI. Was thinking I would get an "all clear" on my annual mammogram and then start to plan our summer. Short trips are OK but more extensive travel might be nice at some point.

    Trying to remember that I requested tomosynthesis/3D technology because it's better at detecting small changes. Just didn't imagine it would actually see something! Of course they got me in for extra views right away and had me stay for an ultrasound which was inconclusive. The radiologist came in to look at things and agreed that I should have further follow-up. Dense tissue continues to be a problem for me.

    We have new insurance this year so they better not deny this...

    Got the MRI=OK phone call yesterday, it was a long weekend to say the least. Started to breathe again, and make travel plans. Managed to catch a nasty cold (due to the stress?) but getting over that also...

    Hi everyone! I will be 65 in January and will be going on Medicare. I have metastatic breast cancer and am on Ibrance ($11-13K/month). I am still working but will likely retire a year from now. Am starting to think about Medicare supplements. I get care at Froedtert. Does anyone have any recomendations? It is a bit daunting.

    Hey Kitty - congrats on finding us but sorry you had reason to do that. It's good to do your research in advance of retirement however the supplements available now may change by next year. You'll also need to consider other chronic conditions which may require treatment (osteoporosis, diabetes, etc) in order to evaluate various plans.

    You'll probably start getting a ton of solicitations in the mail with invitations to attend seminars from the people selling these options so review them carefully. I hope your current coverage is helping to pay for that medication!

    Not many of the regulars here are on Medicare yet, as far as I know, but perhaps someone else will comment...

    I am new here too and have just been reading mostly.

    I've been on Medicare for a year now. Have had no trouble getting bills paid. Medicare picks up most of it, and we have UHC from AARP as supplement which pays what Part B does not. No issues so far at all.

    We actually live west of Sussex, but it's our mailing address. We're in the Town of Lisbon.

    I have been at the high school in the past for Relay For Life. That has moved to Germantown now...which I don't like because it's 12 miles further. Had it last Friday night. First time walking as a survivor.

    OncoWarrio: thank you for posting the article. I'm sorry that I missed the event. I would have loved to have attended it. Hopefully I can make it next year. In the meantime, it sounds like a good idea to make a few homade cancer-themed targets and use them to relieve some stress.

    I wanted to go tonight to see our favorite, the Moody Blues, but we're getting ready to go on vacation and the weather is horrible, so glad we decided not to.

    oh, Moody Blues would have been great. We had Spin Doctors on the radar too. Dropped off our son and his friends in the rain. It was a downpour on our way home. Hope no really severe weather comes through, but looks like we even have some water in the basement.

    Summerfest was beautiful tonight. They postponed last night's big bang fireworks until tonight. Then we saw Hippo Campus and they put on a stellar performance.

    Not doing summerfest this year (except for experiencing the traffic generated) but I will be performing a few free pops concerts with the Concord Chamber Orchestra over the next several weeks starting at 6:30pm Wednesday evening at the library in New Berlin, then at Boerner Botanical Gardens on the 27th, Franklin's Legend Park on the afternoon of August 6 and the new band shell in Glendale 7pm on the 9th. Should be fun if the weather is decent!
