We discussed this back on page 23.  Not kidding....70 pages ago.  I think there was a wide range of opinion as to if they were needed or no.  Some said yes some said no.  I just skimmed through it.

chick - just like with all of our PS, there don't seem to be hard and fast rules.  I remember that some said yes and some said no.  Mine doesn't prescribe them, and my dentist is well aware of my diagnosis - his wife was just dx'ed with ovarian, stage III.  She is doing well though - responding to chemo.  How on earth did we get up to 96 pages!!!  Yikes!

I'm too chicken too, Mrochon!  Tatina, I told my dentist that I'm holding off on all dental work until exchange is done. My dad is an orthopaedic surgeon, and I've had 2 ACL knee reconstructions (with metal in them), and he is adamant about taking the antibiotics. I got really, really sick after my last cleaning about 8 months ago (chest/bronchitis, etc...).  There are different views, but I'm not going until this chapter is closed.

so, I understand that TE's are not alway symetrical, but does anyones sit so low that it is at the bottom lip/ridge of your ribcage.  My fill was Tuesday, its saturday, still can't take a deep breath without pain.  I'm okay somewhat relieved in the morning, after a night sleeping on my back. But after an hour or so of standing or sitting upright, its so uncomfortable.

    Thank you for your help.

I have two fingers width of space between the bottom of my left TE and the last rib of my rib cage. Four fingers width on the right.

greenmonkey - yes, my left one was low and sometimes pinched - this is sometimes helped by fills.  As the TE expands and projects outward/forward it may lift off the top of the ribs.  If you are seeking a second or third opinion ask about whether this is possible in your specific situation.

Psalms91: what happened?  Where did you go?  I have been a bit busy these past few weeks but was just thinking of you tonight and wondered how things are going for you.   Stop by and post on your progress.

Greenmonkey: I love, love your avi!  All that bright, beautiful green!   It is just lovely! BTW, I enjoyed your blog.  I heard Dr. Heerdt is very good.  Best of luck

Lizzymack- I am here, I read the post nightly. So far so good, the redness, turned to a bruise look and now the bruising is disappearing.i know I started drinking chrophyll in my water I am hoping that helped or maybe it was nothing at all. Remember me in the month of April, the 23 rd will be the replacement of my tissue expander ( right side) and a hysterectomy ( yikes!) Can anyone tell me there experience after having a TE replaced? I am so praying that this right one holds out during the fills all the way to the replacement surgery........ I am 43 and so afraid that I am going to be a mental case without my ovaries any input from anyone....yes I BRACA 2

I have another question, my right side is so concaved, it seems almost impossible to put an expander back in that pocket. I pray that I can fill in a timely manner and exchange for implants and be through with this.... I am praying very hard....as we all do. I developed lymph edema in my non cancerous side I now have a sleeve and glove is that usual.no lymph node removal from that side.

Psalms - my right side was concaved too minus the expander. I had a drains coming out of TE replacement. My PS did pocket work. I had alot of scar tissue. I was back on 3 week arm movement restriction. I was on pain meds for about a week, if I remember. The area was very tender from the extra work he did. I had residual pain after he removed the drain. I think the tube irritated tissue at the end point. That gradually went away over the course of a week.

I am almost two months out from my ooph and salpingo. I have had zero side effects. My surgery was done robotically. My recovery from that was quick. Maybe a week but it was tough sitting for long periods. You're having your uterus removed also so your down time will be more. I started Arimidex a week ago. The only side effect I've had is insomnia. I think it's getting better. I went to sleep on my own last night and slept straight for four hours. I had a bone density scan. My overall baseline is good. I need to continue taking Vitamin D and Calcium (my vitamin D levels are back to normal). My lower lumbar is in osteopenia area but overall everything looks good.

You'll be ok, it's scary because it's an unknown. Stay strong. :-)

psalms - ren will add you to the list.  Glad things are improving, hoping your TE replacement will go well and your gyn surgery.  My removed TE side was super flat too - it worked out fine, although the TE had a different shape all through fills so don't let that throw you.

    mrochon - happy birthday!

momof3 - I talked to annalive on another thread regarding thermography - she is going to do a flap at NOLA, she is doing OK.  Still don't know what happened to survivor - that worries me a lot!  Her last post was fine.

tatina, my PS said no antibiotics needed also He said at a recent PS conference, they took an informal show of hands as to who used them and who didn't and most said they no longer prescribe them for dental work.

sundermom...I have fat grafting, nipple construction, and port removal this Friday. I told him to suck out everything he can from my abs and I expect to see a difference. He is filling in around the odd shaped part that has really thin skin from the infection and then filling in the upper pole which I think needs some more fullness. He had to put in a smaller expander due to the thin skin, and I think it needs some exra oomph up on top. Although, I think mine look really great, have nice slope and cleavage.

This is the first surgery I haven't really stressed about. Just going with the flow.

Also, I went to the dentist right before I had my mastectomy and started chemo. My BIL is my dentist. Told him to do what needed to be done to last a year because I wouldn't be back until everything was complete. I went back last month for a cleaning. I just didn't want to take any chances either.

Psalms91: Thanks for letting us know your surgery date, you are now on the list above! Anyone else need to be added? Please send me a personal message. I am not always on the boards and I want to make sure our "list" is current and includes everyone! ;-)

Fluff: Getting closer for you! Of course you will let us know if you get the flat belly you desire out of all this! That would be a super bonus!

Chick: Happy Birthday! (I suspect I am the "oldie" in this crowd... I am 53!)

Tatina: Re: dental work, check with your PS and also let your dentist know what is going on. They generally ere on the safe side (antibiotics) but you never know until you ask. I wouldn't let more than a year go bu between dental cleanings though. Have to be careful there... ignore your teeth and they will go away. ;-)

Psalms I had a TE replaced last November. It was a walk in the park! I was a little sore for a few days but surgery was Friday and I was at work on Monday. I had a total hysterectomy about 7 weeks ago when I got my implants. It was done robotically, everything was removed vaginally. One side was really tender, but I was back at work after two weeks. The side effects haven't been any worse than what I experienced when getting Zoladex...night sweats, mild daytime hot flashes only when I eat spicy foods or drink too much coffee. I am on Effexor, which helps a lot. I turned 44 last December.

    Mrochon, happy birthday!

Evebarry and Olgah, how are you two doing? Fluff-looking forward to Friday?

Hugs to all of the TE trouble gang. I hope you are all doing well. My sweet husband took a good long look at my implants today. He says I have beautiful slope, but they are flat. Meaning not much projection. I called my ps last Monday to discuss the new Sientra silicone implants. I am calling them back tomorrow to see if they researched them as they promised. Or is that not enough time?

MT - they owe you - that is enough time!  It is funny you say your husband looked at your implants today - mine commented on how nice he thought mine looked  (in my shirt) as I was sitting accross from him - was today "husband looking at implants" day?  I did not get that memo!

Specialk, hahaha! I actually made mine stop and look as I was heading to the shower. A dangerous thing to do since "marital relations" have been on hold due to a slow healing stitch from the hysterectomy...
