GREAT news!!!! Normally, it's Hydrochlorothyazide that you have to cut in half. I don't know what coreg is.... I take a full pill of HCLZ.

Wow, this is my lucky day....I actually succeeded in getting on the internet at the oncologist's office. They do have WiFi here and they have the password and network name posted in the waiting room, but never have I been able to get on before. BUT the best news is, I AM GETTING MY ADRIAMYCIN!!! The PA, and the nurses were all happy that my tumor markers are 325.8, but I think they are most excited that I brought cookies. lst I passed them out to patients and then I told them they could have the rest....they asked is this because you got good news? and I said you got that right, keep on giving me good news and I will keep on baking. I bake when I am happy.

The day has turned out to be even better....it is raining!! A nice steady rain. The dogs are freaking out with all the thunder and lightening. We really needed this rain.

OMG, it is so hot that I had to get a spray tan so I could wear short shorts and sleeveless tops without blinding people with my white cellulose and varicose veins!!!!

I wonder if one or both of these new meds can mess up sleep patterns?....this is my 2nd night up....of course I went to bed early...10:00. My right leg has not gone down even though I had it elevated in bed...good thing I wear long pants at work so my ankles can hang over my shoe in private. Left leg and foot look normal which is odd since that is my ankle where I had the compound dislocation and it is has always been a little larger.

Marybe, press into the swollen area. If the impression of your pressure stays in place, that is "pitting edema" and you need to see a doc ASAP. Kidneys could be involved. Don't make me come down there and drag you to the doc!!!

My leg is normal right now, Barbe. I think I have some bigtime problems however. Yesterday at work, I felt like little chills were coming out of the top of my head and also it felt like my skin was crawling....not necessarily an itch, but like little ants were crawling all over my face....Odd how it was just my face, mostly forhead. Also I was very red, face and neck, BUT this could have been the red man syndrome for the Adriamycin which I used to always get, but stopped a month or so ago. However since we skipped a treatment, maybe it is back. Who knows. Anyway, back to new symptoms....my throat felt sort of sore and I had difficulty swallowing and kept clearing my throat all day. We took my BP off and on all day....once it was pretty normal 117/ 74 ( I have never had high BP), but then it was 101/54.. another time 102/64. Both of these meds are for BP, but she told me in my case it was for my heart. The rt leg stayed swollen even though I was wearing my support hose, but as I said that is looking OK, right now at least....after sitting at this desk for awhile, it will probably swell again. I went to bed really early because I was just super tired so am up now, but think I will go back to bed until the alarm goes off to get up for real.
Cardiologist is out of offce til next week, but I spoke with her nurse and she told me not to take the coreg last night...take that one twice a day. We are going to determine by process of elimination which med I am having a reaction to or if it might be both. I will just take lisinopril tomorrow, but am thinking maybe I will take it at lunch since we only work 1/2 day on Friday.
I read about cardiomyopathy yesterday which is what the paper said my diagnosis is.....one treatment is a pacemaker and we know that isn't going to happen....they don't like to do surgery on me with my blood clot history. I am not to the stage where I need that, but just reading about the condition makes me scared and even though I wanted to continue with the adriamycin, I am afraid the damage is already done so maybe it is best to quit while I am ahead. I was reading SEs of the new meds and of course the petty ones always jump out at me and I was exclaiming out loud in the lunch room....Hair Loss!! ( I forget which one can cause that, but I thought Yikes, it is just now coming back!!), Weight Gain!!, although it also said you could lose your appetite. It said hives was one where you should call your physician immediately....I did not have hives, but that crawly skin feeling was not pleasant. I read perpherial edema is a sign of cardiomyopathy so why didn't they jump on this when it started I am wondering. Also when my potassium dropped I think that should have been a tip off. But would I have wanted them to stop the chemo since it was working?.....am not sure, just am not sure.

I am in need of some hugs and a pep talk right now. Dear old Dad is coming for the weekend so that should keep me busy.

Marybe - hate that you're having mystery se's but I think they are quite common when on heart meds at the beginning - I went through four different pills before they found one that wouldn't make me comatose all day - in your case with low bp it is even trickier. Can't be there in person, glad your Dad is coming for the weekend, but am sending hugs.

Oh Marybe, what ARE we going to do with you!!!! They can give you meds for cardiomyopathy, as obviously, not everyone with it can withstand surgery for a pacemaker. As for the 'red man' you talk about, yep, I bet it's because you skipped a treatment and your body reacted anew. I've been on BP meds for 19 years and have never experienced hair loss, I think they're covering their butts. Like on a clinical trial and old man was losing his hair so they had to mention it.
I'm anxious for you. Not scared, yet, but anxious. I wish your cardiologist was available, but next week is almost here! Without reading all the stuff you have been....how do you FEEL?????
I think that's the most important question out there.

What are we going to do with me, Barbe? I think shooting me might be a good idea. I had the dental assistant at the office take my BP before I called the cardiologist's nurse like I was supposed to....had not taken the lisinopril because I was afraid to really ...we were going to do that process of elimination thing you know, to determine which drug was causing my crawly skin, chills, etc....anyway, my BP at 11:30 AM was 86/57.....low. I never did have high BP, but it always was around 110/70 something, unless I was in the hospital and then it would go way low. So when I told the nurse what it was, she said don't take anything and call back on Tuesday. I said But I am supposed to get chemo on Monday and she said my BP should be fine then and I could get my chemo. I am sure she doesn't know what we are trying to do....protect my heart....and we aren't going to be protecting my heart if I am not taking anything, but oh well, maybe I won't get any chemo. Maybe I have had enough of the red devil. I keep thinking that Neil Young song about the damage done....maybe the damage is already done.
I just felt sort of weird today....not altogether with it.....very tired. I was glad when the morning was over. I went and bought a blood pressure monitor on the way home....they told me to take it twice a day after sitting for 15 mins. Being obsessive, I have taken it quite a few times and it is at least going up. Last time I took it the reading was 95/56. My Dad's is 108/58 and my husband's who has chronically low BP was the highest of all 110/70....sometimes they have to go get another machine to get his and he gets dizzy all the time from getting up too fast or walking any distance.
So that is all I know. We are going to the Chinese Buffet for dinner.....the sodium should help me get my BP back to normal. I have this pain in my groin so am limping, Daddy and my husband both use a cane.....what a crew!
I told my father you said hello Chrissy....he said he certainly did enjoy talking with you in MO about your homeland.

Marybe - you're only supposed to take your bp once or twice a day - morning and night (mostly only once a day) if you take it compulsively you will get very strange readings - you're supposed to wait something like an hour in between takes at the very least.
You're probably feeling very fatigued because those meds do that - they take a while to regulate in your body a couple of weeks at least and cardios are constantly fussing with the dosages to get them just right - I think women have more trouble with this than men - I know I had a heck of a time getting mine right as did my late mil - my husband just rolled with the punches and never complained. I think it's worth a go at having one more adrimyacin treatment if they think you're o.k. to do so - honestly I think the "damage" is transient - it was with me anyway.

I have NEVER heard of such low blood pressure!! WOW!!! The highest reading I had was in the ER after sitting for 4 1/2 hours and it was 212/114. I wasn't even moving around!!! The lowest I've had is while on morphine in the hospital. Now I'm on morphine at home...maybe I should check it!

Marybe, sorry to hear about the perplexing nature of the S/E's. I never did like that concept of taking one medicine to offset the side effects of another medicine...even tho' it is neccessary at times, it just seems like a festival of pill popping and they all add their own pecularities into the mix and you wind up not knowing what is causing what. I guess you've said that already.
I may be wrong, but I thought when discontinuing heart medicine, it was good to wean off of it? You might be feeling weird today because you didn't take anything and your body is used to something. The "don't take anything til Tuesday" approach might feel abrupt to your body. It's not like giving up M&Ms for a few days.

elimar, heart meds aren't like antidepressants, you don't really 'feel' them. I DO get vivid dreams, though!! Over the years my nephrologist would have me switch back and forth between different combinations of heart meds. It took 5 years to get my blood pressure under control. When I had that high reading in the ER (212/114) I was on FIVE medications!! Now I get a nice 129/78. PERFECT!!!!
I think Marybe might be suffering from a drop in BP rather than the meds.

84/49 last night. 92/59 this morning so that is at least a little better. Drank lots of water yesterday and also added some extra salt to things. Anyone want to place bets on if I get my treatment today?....I am betting NOT. I am feeling "normal".
