Life on aromasin

Love Kale once I aquired a taste for it. Use it in my lunch salad with red beets/ sliced pear or mandarin pieces with scoop of chicken salad -- add some walnuts or sunflower seeds for crunch. I've also tried it in smoothie with fruit and it works great!

I have been on aromasin for a while now. I just saw my oncologist. Told her about my knee hurting. She sent me to a orthopedic... They did a x-Ray on both legs and came and asked me about my other leg. I have an enchondroma, a large one on my left femur. He asked me if it was painful. I said no. Apparently it is "benign", but is also a precursor to chrondrosarcoma. Anybody heard of this? As if I have no other stress in my life. List too long to write... Told me not to worry... How does one not worry?0 -
MelsMontie, I would hang onto that word BENIGN. It's golden.0 -
Melsmonte I'm sorry this crap is happening. but whenever a Dr. tells me don't worry I don't--there other things to worry about. I actually never heard of that, but there is so much leftover stuff after u just go with it.

Happy Thanksgiving all--I truly hope everyone has more of a SE free day.

Thanks, Camillegal. Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone too. We are supposed to cook for a large family but the 4-yr. old has a high fever so we may have to postpone it until tomorrow or Saturday. Of course the pie is already made and is in the refrigerator calling my name.0 -
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!0 -
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Three years ago I was waiting for my diagnosis and hadn't told my family what I suspected. So relieved this TG is not spent in that awful waiting mode and I wish everyone who is, positive outcomes----0 -
Happy Thanksgiving, dogs! Two years ago I was recovering from surgery the day before. Ugh, very unpleasant memories. Today is much better.0 -
So much better not be awaiting a diagnosis.
Boy, thinking back, where was I last year or more at this time. Forty years ago I was driving from CA to TX and stopped in a restaurant for a turkey dinner. Ten years ago I was driving from NE to WA and stopped in restaurant for a turkey dinner. God Bless the restaurant folks who serve weary travelers a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving.0 -
Corky u'r so right all the people who are working. When I waitressed YRS AGO we had to work holidays, altho we did make much more money, but I never worked Christmas, so I would take New Year's from someone who didn't want it and exchange that one.

So I was already to do the happy dance today. I had the last pill of my first bottle of exemestane (Aromasin) and tipped the bottle into my hand. The pill bounced off and went who-knows-where in the kitchen. I heard it hit metal. I looked all over on my hands and knees with a flashlight and found another pill under the stove but no little white pill. Will try again later with a fresh set of eyes. I have pets and don't want them finding it before I do. Sheesh.0 -
Corky, oh no! I did something similar last week. I accidentally dropped 12 pills into my sink, which was fortunately dry. I got the pills out and put them into a plastic bag. But I don't know if I should trust that those pills are not contaminated with germs. Will probably try to get replacements, which sucks considering how expensive that drug is.0 -
Corky these pills are so tiny it's amazing all the damage they can do. I've done that so many times and I take them anyway cuz they are to expensive and I always think of my dad when he said everyone takes in more germs and dirt in their life and they don't even know it, so what's the difference. LOL He lived to be 96 yrs old--he ate fruit before it was washed and I can't even tell you all the stuff, my mom would have a fit she was so clean and she lived to be 88. Soooooooo

Ahem, maybe it's just me but for the pills in the dry sink I would take them. I assume you didn't fish them out of the drain, which would be gross. As for the little white pill if it turns up I will quickly rinse off the sweet coating (yes, I've tasted it) and then take it. Unless it fell in the cat food or drinking water, that is.0 -
I have done the same Corky; fished a pill out of the sink and swallowed it. If it fell on the floor I would probably rinse it off.
The other day I accidentally gave one of my dogs my metoprolol pill. He was supposed to get a prednisone pill; but they are both little white ones and come in a Target container and somehow I put the wrong bottle in the "dog pill drawer."
I was afraid he would pass out from his heartbeat being too slow, and his blood pressure too low, but he was fine. I didn't dare mix it with the prednisone though so he was itchy all nite, poor guy.0 -
OMG Dogs I'd freak out, when ever I do drop a pill I'm always afraid the dog will get it he eats anything, the cat is much more picky. Oh good thing everything worked out for u'r furbaby

I think I will just take the pills. The sink gets cleaned regularly and we are vegetarians, so no meat ever touches it.0 -

I have been on aromasin for 2 years now and just started taking fish oil 1200 mg.
WOW! It's amazing all of my joint and muscle pain is gone, no more stiffness. I think it's a combination of 2 years of my body getting used to it, but mostly the fish oil. I told my Oncologist it's almost 100% gone!
Just stepping in to pass on some good news0 -
How blessed you are, Bogie. Surely wish I could say the same.0 -
I take astaxanthin for joint pain. I think it's helping.0 -
Wonderful Bogie I'm so glad it's helping u and Corky glad it's helping u too. Sometimes u have to think for u'rself.

May I ask if any of you take any antidepressants or anxiety medication!! I have been on aromasin for almost 8 years now, and for the last year now, I have been experiencing anxiety and some depression. During treatment, I was on Lexapro and klonopin, but discontinued them both after two years!!! I am thinking that from being on aromasin for so long, I am totally estrogen depleted, hence the depression and anxiety!! Any ideas? Thanks so much!!! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Also moving to CA was quite a life change for me!!0 -
I've been on AI for a little over one year - Estrogen is at zero. I do use anxiety and anti-depressant when needed.0 -
thank you, Gaisal!! May I ask what anxiety med you use?0 -
Hi Kinder---I use both too--I'm on Xanax when I need it nd Paxol everyday and it does fine with me.

Thank you so much, Camillegal!!!0 -
I'm on something rather different. I cannot take antidepressants. I was on lamotrigine before the BC DX. Have continued throughout TX and have not suffered from notable depression yet, despite surgeries, chemo and rads. I think the anxiety I've experienced has been quite normal for a DX of BC. I've not taken anything extra for this.0 -
I've been on and off Xanax since soon after the BC dx in 12/2011. Antidepressants started soon after the BMX when memories about MST which had been surpressed for decades came out since the anatomy removed had been the object of the assaults.
It was pulling teeth to get the VA to prescribe the Xanax, which was for a short period. Then I was put on Wellbutrin which was pretty STUPID since it can exacerbate anxiety. When I said I wasn't better on the Wellbutrin, they took me off every thing and said I could only have talk therapy. It didn't take me overly long to say forget that and went to the private sector using my employee health insurance. At no time now am I needing to defend myself about what is needed! I'm on Pristiq since it's not as likely to cause weight gain and doesn't get processed through the Liver as so many meds do.0
