    hmmm, interesting Hugs, since never thought my hips were tight, this will be a new thing to work on!!!

    mano sucks getting old!

    I am sure either the PT person or my trainer will give me "tight hip stretches" which will be added to my pile of must do things!!

    Have you tried PIGEON pose in yoga ?  I recall my days of yoga with Denise Austin and she used to call it ' the best hip opener'.  I am sure you can do an online search.

    I'm in that tight hip club too.

    My trainer is always on me about stretching out my hips.

    purple's suggestion of the pigeon pose is spot on.  That one is fantastic for opening the hips.  If you can't stretch your back leg all the out ... bend it.  There is another one ... I'm going to try and find it ... can't remember the name that I can't do really well, it is not a modest move, but wow it will stretch them out big time.

    Reporting in on exercise....didn't get any yesterday, due to a full day of car travel and then time spent unpacking and putting away.  Today I did some high-intensity interval work, running in place as fast as I could for 30 seconds, followed by 90 seconds of a slow jog, repeated 7 more times.  Whew!!  Made me breathe really really hard!  Then I did speed walking to round out 4 miles.  Supposedly the intense intervals build cardio strength, but in truth I'm just as interested in a change of routine, to keep things interesting.

    I love pigeon, and the lizard lunge, that's another good pose for hip openers.

    Arm swelled after back and chest day, even with dropping weights.

    nibbana - I wrote on the grrrrr thread - I'm having issues right now too.

    It's spring break this week and so no trainer and I'm thinking it is for the best.  I'm going to a yoga class tonight but it's only gentle stretches for me tonight and absolutely no pressure on my hands.  Binney has mentioned this before but when this happeens I get so weepy.  I'm not a crier and it's just super strange but I had a mini melt down Saturday night ... had a really good cry.  I'm still swollen but at least I feel better emotionally.  Undecided

    Take it easy and hang in there.  

    I hate weather changes ... Frown ... I'm thinking that is in large part what my problem is.

    What on earth is going on with all these flares etc..... Do you think we have spring fever and are just trying to get going after a blah winter and are overdoing it? something has got to give. A round of hugz and kisses for all flarezees. KissKissKiss

    The weather has been highly variable in many parts of the country.  I think barometric changes affect mood, and for sure they can cause LE issues.  A double whammy!

    I don't blame you Dawne-  I've said  before, and I'll say it again.  We are all SO different, but I am willing to be the one thing  we all agree on is that we just dont want to get ONE IOTA worse.  When it happens, it is VERY upsetting.  It's easy to start wondering how  long this will last, how far it might go and yadyadyada....  it's even more frustrating when we figure we are busting butt to comply in all ways and still have this happen ( grrrrr is right !)

    Go easy on yourself and try your best to be patient. We all understand.  

    This too shall pass.

    purple - thank you.  You're exactly right ... my mind goes to dark places ... "I'm getting fibrosis, it's sneaking up my arm, do I feel something in my back ... is it moving up there too?!"  SurprisedYell  Feel like my mind is out of control ... when I try to shut it down ... then I dream about it.  UndecidedFrown  Crazy land, for sure.

    Ended up spending three hours at the gym.  Not sure that is particularly helpful ... did the yoga class, then wanted to do a 'little' cardio and started watching "The Biggest Loser" on one of the TV's there and it totally sucked me in.  I don't have a TV and I've never watched that show ... I guess to match my emotional status ... I cried a few times watching it tonight ... Tongue Out  What the heck?!  Maybe I just need to cry ... anyway ... that probably wasn't the wisest thing to do in the midst of a flare ... 2 hours going back on forth on  ellyptical, bike and treadmill ... but I can say that I got my steps in today.  Wink LOL!

    Dawne, exercise is a great way to improve the mood, although of course with LE it comes with a dark side of potentially flaring if we over-do.  I hope you got the mood help --maybe you cried it out? --without more pushback from the LE.  You sure did get the steps in!

    I did 45 minutes of jog/walk and also did my weight workout in the gym, plus additional walking time at home, for 6.5 miles today.  And ate too much today, for whatever reason, no foods that were not good for me, just too much.  It's so hard to have a truly successful health day, isn't it?

    Did arms and shoulders with 2 and 5 pound weights. Mostly to keep muscle atrophy at bay. Can't stop working out though.

    Worked on cardio today, on an elliptical, where I did intense intervals for a half hour. Then I did another half hour of speedy walking, plus some errand walking, to get my miles in today. 

    Nibbana....I'm going to be Jiminy Cricket on your shoulder. I totally GET the irrisistable pull of wanting to avoid losing ground on the muscle work, but hey...take care...has your flare from the other day receded and stabilized? It sounded pretty serious.  I'm cheering your commitment to getting strong, but I'm fretting a bit that it might be too soon to pick up the weights again.  Only you know, of course, but listen carefully, and you'll hear me from across the country asking you: 'Are you SURE?'  (We gotta look out for each other!)

    No tagteam here, but I just have to say, I backed off the cardio for several days last week ( HATED to) and my flare did subside - knock on wood.

    It stinks, but if we are *really* in compliance, that's part of it....

    I hear you Carol and purple. My hand is almost back to normal. See what I mean from the other discussion we had? I'm scared to stop exercising, because I got to keep that lymph pumping, but exercising can also cause too much lymph. The thin line. 

    This morning, I'm just going to do some woodchoppers, and leg lifts.

    Nibbana, glad the hand is better, now listen to mother Carol!

    Well I had my first PT session about my balance last night.  She is good!  Crazy to say this but I can feel improvement and will continue as long as I can dig up the money for it.  It was at a PT center of a hospital near me and folks have told me that people come out from NYC to this little town to do the PT and I can see why.  I was bushed when I came home and need to try to use some of her ideas with my own gym.  When your balance gets funky, it is way scary.

    I'm so glad to hear your session went well Proud.  You are right balance issues are scary.

    My follow up with the eye surgeon is today. I'm hoping he will release me from my crate rest and let me start doing "stuff" again.  He's had me on a very short leash.  I'd like to at least start walking outside as the weather warms up (supposed to be in the high 60s today) and of course I want to get back on the rebounder...

    I did nothing yesterday.

    I'm seeing a chiropractor who specializes in sports injuries http://www.activerelease.com/what_patients.asp

    He came highly recommended from a collegue of mine who runs marathons.  Three weeks ago while on the treadmill I had excruciating pains shoot down the left side of my knee.  I tried to run through it and couldn't.  I finished up 20 minutes on the elliptical.  And felt OK the next day but knew something was wrong.

    I've been seeing this guy for a couple of weeks now.  It's been painful but slowly getting better and today he laid into me ... deep hip, back and yikes ... I wasn't going to the gym today but felt like I needed to stretch and do at least a little something.  Did a lot of stretching and about 10 minutes on the elliptical.  He told me I could do anything except run right now.

    Anyway .... I didn't think about it until today (duh??) ... could him breaking up scar tissue in my left knee cause me to flare in my arms?

    Dr. CutiePie released me to do anything I wanted "as long as it's legal"Laughing

     He says I'll need to follow up in about 6 months. But he's not going to be coming here by then.  Sad. 

    But anyway, I'll start rebounding and walking tomorrow.  YAY

    Sure sounds plausible!  That would be good news in a way.  ( just stop seeing him  :>)

    Look back at your calendar.  When did this flare eally begin?  ( maybe chk your forum posts to be sure)  When did this tx begin?  It may well be that simple. I'm guesing he's massaging and /or manipulating things  ... is it the  same side as the LE or ?

    Purple - Began about a week after. I'm noticing swelling OPPOSITE of the side he's working on. Need to be careful...

    I dunno' Dawne.  It does sound strange.  Not sure if there could be a correlation, but you know how it is with MLD....they clear the OPPOSITE sider before dumping.

    Im just not sure .

    Dawne, That active release therapy from the chiro is way nicer than the bone crunching chiros I have had before. I really Like ART. 

    Pains down to the knee can signify back issues. It is the sciatic nerve that goes all the way past the knee and into the foot but it starts in you dairy-air area. That sciatic nerve is really long and thick. About as thick as your index finger. Sometimes I just want to take that sciatic nerve out and wrap it around my neck and choke myself just to get rid of that excruiating pain. Strecthes do help but don't resolve coompletely for me. For me it is all about the l4/l5  lower back injury and the dang sciatic nerve.Off course it comes out as pain in my hip too.

    Did a real slow lebed opening. Chickened out on putting on the raingear. It is pouring with no let up for days. Grrrr. Opps wrong thread!
