Short walk in the 70+ sunshine at noon and a mile on the rebounder tonight total of 8000 steps.  The neighbors chicken joined T and I on our noon walk.  Funny to watch a schnauzer give a chicken the "side eye"

Cindyl - Ha!  That visual makes me smile!  Laughing

Seventy degrees for the first time here this year.  Walked out of the gym to a Magnolia tree in bloom and you could smell the sweetness in the air.  It's beautiful.

Trainer worked me hard today.  Then, driving home, it was so pretty that I decided to stop at a national park not too far out of the way.  I started a little walk and saw a trail that I thought would lead me back to my car but an hour later ... I've come full circle and can see my car in the distance.  Woo!  Tired tonight but it was great to be outside.  Knowing the crazy weather in the midwest it could be 90 next week ... so I'm enjoying the outside while I can.

Today I walked 4.5 miles outdoors in beautiful weather, but the best part is that I was doing a walk 'n talk with my college roommate, with whom I'm staying this weekend, and we have so much to talk about that the miles and time flew by in an instant!

Mom came home from the hospital today (after being in since the day before Thanksgiving. Yay.  But what with one thing and another I didn't get a walk before dark, and really didn't want to head out and leave her by herself anyway, so 1 mile on the rebounder will have to be it for today.

home from the gym, tired as usual!  Liking the new eliptical model they have added and did a big 8 minutes on it!  Not much but it is building up my time on that machine.  Then did stationary bike and the pool. The bike never seems to get my heart rate up, thinking about going back to spin classes, that sure gets the blood moving.  Also being good on the exercises given to me to help my sloppy balance.  Well, trainers do know what they are doing and balance is improving!  Yeah on that for me.  All in All, feeling good today as no big new achies!

I have been exercising ( mostly ' fast walk' type things with very little arms involved off and on, but the sleeve gets just a tad tight, which tells me exercise  makes me swell.

I'll be going  in a pool next weekend and will be interested to see once again how that does.

My LEist has me  wearing(JUST) my glove these days and using the sleeve (and glove)  only for EX.  The arm is always worse after the sleeve...but I *should* say , the arm is worse post exercise - whats a girl to do ? :>) It's still not much at all (knock on wood)  but it's a little something because the sleeve seems to tighten.

It *seems* like just wearing the glove and doing everday lt. activities, I get the status quo.

    I dunno.

Did back and chest workout. Added some side lunges to leg day, helps the adductor magnus.

Just walking today, not at all speedy, with friends who need a slower pace. But we got about 3 miles in and it was beautiful out, so a great exercise day in so many ways.

Just been such a BAAAAD girl over here in my neck if the woods. Must slap myself silly and strap on my runners. I'll do that tomorrow! Only walked for about 45 min this week.

Got to start my tai chi breathers. Did my stretching! I was really distracted this week with fam. Oops I did no lebeds.

Cindyl, I am so proud of you efforts

Nibanna, what are side lungs and what is adductor Magnus.

The rest of you get kudos from me!

Have been googling the sun clothing online for this summer. I still like duckskinz jacket the best. I have 3 but don't wear the brown one much. The dark color is too hot. I am also looking for a sun jacket that zips with a hoodie and has thumb holes to cover my gross glove!

    cover my gross glove!

    Hugz

Have you tried a farrow glove ?

I looked up the sunclothing.  I cannot believe this one:

    http://sunprotectionzone.com/UV_Sleeves.aspx

Anyway, IF these sleeves really protected from harmful UV rays, why couldnt they put that into our " real" compression sleeves ?  I'm already thinking ahead to mosquitoes- I am a  MAGNET!  Do you ladies use DEET?

THe adductor magnus is one of the inner thigh muscle. Here is a good video of the geeky terms for thigh muscles.

Nibanna, thx, those you tubes were great. I didn't realize that the adductors attached so high.

Purple, I saw those sleeves before and thought I may order them if they were made out of the same fabric as the brown jacket on that page. That brown jacket material is the coolest fabric I have found yet and it works like a charm. No burns! I swam in it last summer except I used the pink one and the men's grey one. Brown attracts too much heat and so I only use it in the spring/ fall temps.

Yes, a uv impregnated sleeve would be the " cats meow" for summer. Binney would be first in line. I wonder if it may react to some people's sensitive skin though.

For bugs,I wear the Columbia bug shirt. So far so good but I am still paranoid wearing it and watch myself for those little critters.

Well I said I would walk today and it is RAINING. I didn't think I would be having to drag out the rain pants but it looks that way, grrrrrr.( Oops wrong thread!)

Oh, bug and sun protection. I wear a plain white, cotton, long sleeve shirt in the summer. Best thing for keeping the heat down. Sure don't rely on my garments to keep the sun out.

nibbana - Those side lunges hurt but really tighten and tone.  The doc working on my knee wants me to hold a hindi squat for 10 minutes!  Surprised  I've been working up to it the last couple of weeks ... I've done it 10 minutes twice and whoa!  Hurts ... that and those side lunges are really building strength in my hips which the doc says will benefit my knees.

Dawne, I thought if I try the side lunges it would tighten up my hips too much. Are you able to stretch them out after so they remain stretched out? My hips just want to tighten back up after 10-15 minutes of stretching. It is actually due to lower lumber injury which affects my hips and sciatic nerve.

10 mins....oh my word that must be a killer!!!. You do have stamina!

hugz - It's like when you start working any muscle ... yes it gets tight ... but it's the working it over time and the stretching (for me 2x a day) that over a period of weeks ... it builds it up.  Does that make sense?  So, in the short run yes it does tighten them up but don't give in and keep working, keep stretching and they will loosen up.

Not sure the side lunges would be best for you since you have that lower lumbar injury.  Undecided  Definitely don't want to aggravate it and that stretch might?

I have to go to my 'happy place' at about minute 7.  Shut everything out and just focus on breathing.  It really is amazing to me ... how everything is connected.  Gotta have strong hips to have healthy knees ... never knew the importance of that before.  But it does make sense ... everything in our bodies is connected to everything else.  Had no idea how weak my hips were ... until I've started to strengthen them.  Kind of like back pain for me ... when I started strengthening my abs and core (started doing Pilates about 5 years ago) my back pain went away.  Amazing.

You girls have sure good hints are are so encouraging. I got to go to my happy place too.

OK, it's rainwear for sure today and extra stretches! At least I won't be worried about a burn or bugs today :)

I created a new post to address our sun/ bug needs. Fire away.

hugz - S-T-R-E-T-C-H!  You're doing the right thing.  A tight body is going to hurt to get there!  Wink

Congratulations on 3 miles!  I've done nothing cardio-wise today.  Busy, busy day.  I haven't even managed to drink enough water.  Undecided

Not a good LE care day. Wore gloves and sleeves all day ... that's about it.

Wow, lots of interesting chatter going on in here!  I was away for the past five days, for work and then visiting old friends, so I didn't have time to do more than check threads here, but I'll be looking at Nibbana's links with great interest in the next few days.  My exercise was spotty--some days great, most not. But all in all I think I got in a credible amount of activity, considering being well out of my normal routine. Tomorrow's a gym/trainer day so I'll be back on track.  Today, just a bit less than 3 miles, and nothing particularly heart-pounding.

Cindyl, Nobody on this earth should be getting snow in April. That is just plain ole illegal!
Nope I won't bring my shovel but a hot toddy instead. Careful with that shovel Cindyl, Don't overdo it.

Did a mini set of stretches earlier and now I just got back from a mile walk literally dodging the rain again. It held off, thank goodness. So thats 4 miles today. Woo hoo!

Now I am off to do my comprehensive stretches given by my physio girl which is quite time consuming I might add.

This LE care and exercise really takes a bite out of my day. Seems like my life revolves around LE. Guess I am just trying to keep the LE beast from taking over.

Hey there is a new girl on the threads asking about cycling distances. Can anyone advise her on LE and cycling? NORDY are you there? Your a biker gal aren't you? I haven't heard from Nordy in a long time. I miss that girl and Tina too.

    morning all,

gee I am a former cycling nutball, haven't done much of late but can not think why LE should be effected but then again, my LE is trunk so not in leg.  Cycling is so much fun and such a hi to be out in the air and seeing the sites.....

spent the weekend with a stomach flu/sore tummy and not much fun

told my trainer on Sunday that I was not re upping on a package of sessions (money reasons) but have now decided to e mail him to reup.  Thinking just every other week as it was so hugely helpful and I do not want to back slip~~~

sorry, this Jersey girl is of the opinion that April should not have snow in the forecast! no volunteer for shoveling for me
