Traded in my walking shoes for fries today. Yes....I know that was a bad choice but the heavy rain is my excuse today! No amount of raingear is sufficent out there.

You girls got to show me up and kick butt. OK?

Nibbana, I feel for you. I need to get one of those done soon? I am virtualy holding your handWink.

Short story alert:I was supporting my sis in the colonoscopy recovery room.... I just turned my back and giggled to myself when the nurse put her hand on my sister's shoulder shook her gently and said " Wakeup deary, I need you to fart lots of times nowEmbarassed." My sis in a sleepy, dreamy voice smiled softly and said "OK, I'll try" and started putting away!Surprised I died laughing to myself but had to maintain myself and be mature about it.  It was very hard no to burst out in laughter!Laughing

Well, humor is a wonderful medication, so we're all going to bet better from whatever might ail us today.  Very funny, Hugz!

I didn't get but 4,000 steps in today, because my best canine friend is ill, and he came down with something nasty that gave him problems during the night. Let's just say that he has the run of the house, and I apparently am a deep sleeper on gym days, so I did not hear his middle-of-the-night pacing that means 'please let me outside.' Poor fellow...and so I cleaned floors and carpets for much of the day.  We have a machine. It is heavy. I wore my sleeve. We were past due for some carpet cleaning, anyway.  (Oh, and I cooked rice with boiled chicken to give the dog a bland diet today, and he got some meds from the vet and as of this evening, he's much, much better!) Good thing he's such a good friend!

Well, jelly beans from Easter and going out to eat has given me  3 more lbs of belly fat ( it's like a traget!)  so I returned to WW today to get back on track.  I bought their ' ACTIVE LINK"  .  It is not a pedometer , but tracks all movements...hoping it will motivate me .

    Carol

Hope the dog is better soon!

Purple, I use a FitBit, which I imagine is similar to the WW device. I find it very helpful!

Pooch is very mopey today. Went back to the vet for some bloodwork and another professional look at the dog, and nothing conclusive except that he probably got a virus and it's taking a while to get over it.  Poor little buddy!  Outside this morning, he didn't even want to chase after the deer that happened by, and that's not like him one bit.

Carol, Dogs are so resilient but when they get sick they really fall fast. Take

good care of him and he will take good care of you. Sounds like he needs to rest up in the house.

Did back and chest workout. I needed this workout since I found out I have Crohn's disease yesterday. Well hell.

Hugz, funny story about the colonoscopy recovery room. Oh, when I was there you hear tooting from all directions, like a farting symphony!

Nibbana, that's so incredibly distressing!  I'm glad you can work out to punch the stress in the nose, but geez...this is not what you needed.  Life can be so unfair.

So sorry you have to add to your health care tasks and worries.

    Poor pooch!

Carol have you tried pure pumpkin for his belly ? Works like a charm on my dogs, and it's good for them.  I always have a can in the house  ... just in case !

It's 100% pure pumpkin ( in all groceries near the pie filling)  I give  about 1/4 cup whenever there are stomach issues.  Look it up online.  I am sure it is somewhere out there.  My vet told me yrs ago , it was good for the runs OR the opposite and  any simple stomach issue.

So far so good- knock on wood.

Hope your furbuddy is better soon.

Purple, Remy is feeling better, back to eating and looking much perkier. But thanks for the pumpkin tip!  When you give it to the dog, do you withhold other food for the day, and give just the pumpkin?  Or mix it with regular food?  I'll be prepared for next time.  Hope there's no next time!

hmmm, pure pumpkin for doggie tummy issues?  If it is good for the pups so may keep in mind for me as well!  I had a tummy ache a couple of weeks ago and did not know what to take as I am alergic to pepto and NSAIDS

gonna think about your solution next time

Tim my trainer says thanks to those who did his survy, now he just needs to do the paper.  Actually he is going to stiff me next week as he needs to crack the books.  So I need to practice all his stuff for 2 weeks

    Carol

Glad to hear your pooch is better!

    Here is a link: http://www.ehow.com/how_2364021_aid-dogs-digestion-naturally.html

Of course it all depends on wt. but if you have say, a dog over 50-60 lbs , the size of a collie or so, I personally would cut their food in half ( OR even LESS) and add several TBSP of the pumpkin.

I have 1 of my two who gets an upset tumy every time we go away, and this never fails him.

Not a bad idea to keep  can in the house.

No pumpkin for me as I weigh more than 50-60lbs!Laughing LOL, Ill let sis know as her doodle get tummy troubles when granny spoils her with fatty treats.

Nibbana, I can't say how sorry I am about your chrons. I thought it was a uncommon disease but no.... 4 of my friends under the age of 55 have it and two are just 19 and 22. ugh. I know this is awful because I got IBS from food posioning in January and I am just starting to get better. I have had to plan my exercises around BMs so I don't have to worry about bathrooms on my walks. I really feel for you girl. I am now taking Iberogast and did 2 weeks of Florstor which is a probiotic and it has helped but I know you have a whole different kettle of fish to deal with. Kiss A kiss of compassion for you and hugz4u of course.

Our pups get pumpkin regularly, a dollop on top of their kibble. We roast our Halloween Jack-o-lanterns, scoop them into the blender, then freeze them on cookie sheets in 1/2 cup amounts to use throughout the year. (Or until we run out, after which we use the canned variety). A bit of a project, but sure is easy to thaw a bit at a time and split it between dogs. Wee Penny was reluctant to try it the first time, ate every bit of "uncontaminated" kibble in the bowl, then sat and looked at me like I'd done something wicked. Hunger won out, and she finished the meal, and since then she's been a real pumpkin fan.

Nibbana, I'm so sorry about the new diagnosis. Bah! Hoping you're finding the support and encouragement you need to get your head around it.
    Gentle hugs,
    Binney

    That just plain stinks, nibbana.

I do know someone who has it and manages it well.  Hope you are able to do the same.

    Great job, hugz!

My LEist has been weaning me off the sleeve - claiming I only <ever> needed it for exercise.  I dunno'.

Sure was doing LOTS more exercise when I wore the sleeve FT!  Feels like a hassle now to " suit up" in compression!
Never thought I would think it was convenient to wear the sleeve.  For those who do wear it ONLY for exercise, what constitutes exercise ?  I mean, obviously, if  were to do a  35 min. fast walking video thats a no brainer.  OTOH, I sometimes find myself buzzing around in the morning, walking at a fasdt glip, riushing for work, cleaning in the kitchen etc .. and I feel strange not to be wearing the sleeve. Not symptomatic , just odd/ then concerned of course.

I do wear my glove at all times.

Btw, THE HAVEN ( UK)  has a  free exercise DVD they will mail if anyone is interested.  (yoga, taichi and qigong)  They sent it to me free of charge.

Purple you sound addicted to your sleeve.Laughing Is that possible?Undecided  I think you have put in so much effort to learning LE self care that now you are scared to back off a little incase you cause a flare  Me too. I often think that I could get away with just a gauntlet and a sleeve in the later part of the day but often don't want to chance it or sometimes I would love to wear a gauntlet instead of a glove to my weekend early morn meeting when I am dressed up pretty and then come home at 12pm and pop on the glove.  But I am scared of a flare and stick with the glove 99 percent of the time.

Sometimes I get brave and play around with my gloves and am not sure what will happen (like wearing a Farrow to bed) .  It is a decision, that we have to feel good about ourselves when we are at such an early stage of LE. That said, about the exercise.... I would think that getting ready for work is not exercise meriting a sleeve but washing a floor, vaccuming, lifting is, so I would wear a sleeve for housework.

Yah it does feel odd for sure.

Thanks for link. I did qi chong with TCM treatment during rads and I loved it.  Have forgot how to do it but I still have the clunky old video cassette and I should drag it out.

Yep. I think you are right, my friend. Nail on the head.  Trust issues too when it comes to  hmmm... anybody and LE!

Thanks for taking the time to to reply.

Purple, I have been wearing my glove and sleeve for a little over six months now.  I had to go see my therapist for pain I was having which my RO said could be cording, which it is not, (that is another story)  anyways she said I could try wearing the glove and sleeve less and only for exercise.  She said I had it so well managed.  I was worried and she said I could continue to wear it if I felt more comfortable.  I started taking it off earlier at night and a few days only wore it for exercise.  At my next appointment I was 7 percent bigger, that let us know I have to wear my glove and sleeve daily.  So make sure you get measured to see if it really is safe to go sleeveless.

Yes, I certainly will booboo. Thanks.

That was the plan actually , but I just had to cancel a LEist appt and she is going out  of state  now.  Will have to wait  a few weeks.

RIGHT NOW, I am  wondering if I should wear it for the mammo.  (Anyone?????)

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Now I'm reading lab results and it's saying I might have kidney issues! Good grief, this is going to sound absolutely insane, but I'm starting to miss cancer. At least I knew how to handle cancer, I don't know how to handle Crohn's and kidney whatever.

I can't even think of lymphedema right now.

Well did arms and shoulders Tuesday. Got to kick up the weights and get back to 25-30 lbs. I'm picking up my newly restored mixte bike Saturday. I just hope I can be healthy enough to ride it.

purple, I did wear my sleeve and glove when I had my mammo.  I will wear it again when I have my one year mammo this June.

nibbana, I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Crohn's.  My Mom had crohn's she was diagnosed when she was 30.  *hugs* to you.  Sorry also to hear they are now looking at kidney issues also.

I am waiting for results of a PET Scan I had on the 22nd for a 7mm spiculated nodule on my right lung they found shortly after my lumpectomy last May.  Have had 3 CT Scans and it has been stable.  I hope to avoid having a lung biopsy with the results of the PET Scan.

nibbana, I so understand the new things the docs seem to find after out BC diagnosis.  I think they look at every little thing so they can be the one to find further cancer or that they are afraid that they may miss something.

Hang in lady, I had about 3 months worth of testing for all sorts of stuff (stroke and a brain tumor!) had lots of vague confusing reports so finally went to a dif hospital and found a specialist and said, hey, do I need surgery or what?

He said go home, you are fine, no surgery is needed and stop wasting money on co pays.  (it started after a dizzy spell that the specialist finally decided was a virus~~)

they get ubber cautious, we want them to be but it is horribly stressful

    Hang on girl
