Perhaps Nordy will see this at some point. I do recall her suggestion to consider altering the handlebars to reduce the forward load on arms and wrists.  I had my bike modified, which the local bike shop did easily enough.  But I'm a la-dee-dah biker, not a competitor, and I suspect that body position makes a big difference when racing, so perhaps that's not a viable solution for anyone who cycles seriously.

For us, it's heavy rain this week, and one benefit is that after raining all morning so far, the piled up snow is finally gone!

Cindy, so sorry you were feeling icky.  Take it easy as you rebound from that.  Hydration!!

I seem to recall reading a thread on competitive cycling that said wear your sleeve, and pump your fist in the air if symptoms start occuring.

I'm a casual cyclist, but seems keeping the pressure off the arms as much as possible would help. So aero bars could be a disadvantage.

Still not doing yoga on Sundays. This is getting problematic. Someone give me a kick in the booty!

Nibbana, Shame on you for not being the Yoga master. There I have just kicked your booty!

I just did lebed opening. The last few days I gave it up but I am back at it. My goal is once a day although I can't say I feel any different from it. I know some girls feel much better doing it.  Who here notices a benefit? At least it stretches out my body  out especially those nasty rad scarring which runs down at least to my hips. Its also good for me at the office to wake up my muscles and get the deep breath.

Carol, Trading in your snowboots for duckflippers huh. Yah... I know what all that rain is about. They don't say we live in a rainforest over here for nothingWink

I hope the bikergirl that posted the thread comes on here and sees our biking tips. I haven't check her thread yet. Thx girls for helping out.

Dawne, You will have to try and get out early before the temps rise. 80 is too hot for me. 50-60 is nice to walk in. I'll even take low 70"s but not 80.

Edited to add. Just walked 45 minutes and tai chi breather.

Today:  gym workout, including a one-mile jog on the treadmill + 2 more of fast walking; then an hour with trainer working with weights and on flex/abs.  Got another mile in of fast walking at home but mostly today I worked my fingers at my keyboard, catching up on work after being away most of last week to teach a seminar (and then have fun with wonderful friends!).  Not enough time in the week to exercise properly, but stubborness keeps me working at it in dribs and drabs!

Hugz - I went to a ball game today and it was 75 and I swelled big time. :( Summer was never my favorite season. Now it is my least favorite. Grrrrrrrr. Wrong thread....

Nibbana - two words: butt yoga. :D I'm not going to make it to yoga class this week either. It's ok, though. I think we're both doing enough other things...that it is ok to miss once in awhile. Don't beat yourself up. ;)

Dawne How exciting to be at the game, yeah down time! Oh I am sorry you swelled. Water log yourself. Did the salty dog do you in?

Carol, Holey moley! Your making up for lost time. Carol can you quicky check the thread by Kimber written today if you have time? I know you are just settling in. She had Diep and is going in for more surgery. It may have affected her leg? She had 17 surgery's so far in a couple years. OH man, that's tough.

Ok, I have forgone my stretches because I have blabbed all day here and need to go to bed! I did squeeze in an extra mile tonight though.

Cindyl - I'm in the 24"+ snow area so I won't be walking outside for a while.  Unless I go out to the base gym to use the indoor track.   I really need to do outside walking though as I need to get my poor little 'Piggy' (my Corgi who has really put on weight this winter so she definately needs the exercise) working.   Need to get my own legs in better shape too to be ready for the Crazy Horse Memorial Volks Marche the first weekend of June.  For those who don't know - the Volks Marche is the one time of the year that the 'general public' actually get to walk/hike up on the Memorial and actually are able to be on the 'arm' of the carving.  Sadly part of why I want to do this year's is to see the progression of the Pine Bettle kill off area has progressed from last year - just saw a few days ago on TV that the 'officials' say that 1/3 of the Ponderosa in the Black Hills have already been lost - again this year no Fourth fireworks over Rushmore because of the dead trees in the area.)

BUMMER - the Weather Channel just said that our Winter Storm Warning has just ben extended from 6 am Wed to noon Wed.

Kicks, pooh on all the snow, but the Volks Marche sounds very, very interesting!   What a great fitness motivator!

Hugz, I'll re-read Kimber's thread to see what I can offer. No expert here, so I try to stick to what I know, when I chime in.

Carol, thanks for quick reply to Kimberly. Your help was great.
Kicks, That sounds cool walking the arm. Yes,pine bettle is nasty here too, fortunately it has not come down so south yet where I live. I hate how is ruins our pristine forests. I heard some companies are making furniture out of the wood. At least we can use it as a renewable resource.
OK walkies in a half hour but got to wake up my back and hips first.

Proudtospin. How is your arm now? I read you overdid yourself. I't a bummer when we are just trying to have fun. A big hugz4u and anything chocolate that your heart desires.

The Volks Marche is very interesting and challenging.  After we moved here I did it every year for 8 or 9 yrs then quite for about as long but started again last year.  It had changed/advanced a lot in those years I didn't go.  It is a bit strenous as it is a 10k trail up and down that winds through the trees/forest and around the front base of the mountain then over to the service road for the last of the climb up to the arm from the back side.  I don't know what the elevation rise is but it's a bit as you start in the parking lot and make it up to the arm before starting back down in a more direct route using the service road back down to the parking lot.  There are picturesof the Memorial so you can see how high it rises up from the parking lot at www.crazyhorsememorial.org if anyone is interested in looking at it.  It is also a fund raiser for the food bank as the Memorial waives their fee if you bring 3 (or more) non-perishable food items per person.   Along the route are 5 or 6 check-in points that have water buffaloes at them or if you want to purchase drinks/snacks you can at each site - different check point drink/snack tents are run by different organizations like the Boy Scouts - or you can carry your own.  There are portapottys at each check and there are several Paramedic vans.  I've met a lot of really neat people on them.

thanks hugz, my arm still hurts and so far blaming it on the hot tub but not really sure. If it still hurts tomorrow, I may call the LE therapist but she blew me off last year as I am not swollen

    chocolate sounds good right now

hugz - I've heard different ideas as to rather or not the pine beetle kill wood is safe to use.  The beautiful blue/blue-grey color it takes on certainly is pretty but I've been told that it is a particular mold that invades the trees as they are dying/dead that causes the color so it shouldn't be used.  I do know one guy who put it down as flooring but he used a lot of sealer on it.

    Kicks, Thanks for the info.

Proud. Last month I cleaned the inside of my car for 2 hours and I have now for sure confirmed that my arm has never been the same since. It aches more with a tad more little swelling increase. I know it was that dang car.GRRRRR. (oops wrong thread.)

I think you do have a point about hurting but not swollen. It would only take a bit of changes inside the arm to cause achiness. My LEist is very good but sometimes I think she has seen so many huge arms that maybe she sees my small LE arm as something minimal.  Like you, when I first told her about the cleaning of the car and achiness she thought it was just muscles overused. NOPE. I know for sure what that feels like. Being an great LEist, she measured me and did a full report which is good. When I see her we will revisit my new achy arm.

I think Carol has minimal swelling too but achiness.  DANG LE

OK... I gotta stop putting off my walkies and stretches. Shutting down the computer so it won"t bate me!

hmmm, hoping it relaxes itself and achie goes away

last time the LE lady measured me and said the arm was skinnier!  she thought I must be favoring it.

thought I was supposed to be nice to the dumb arm!

I took tylonel but nothing helping (I am alergic to NSAIDS so nothing else to take unless it is serious junk!)

Hey Kicks.  We're just wthe snow here...can't even see across the street now, but where the snow is blowing clear, the grass is green. Cool  I've never had the guts to try the volksmarch, but it always sounds like fun.

I bounced 6000 or so steps on the rebounder.  Will probably be doing more later.  Cleaned out the fridge, now I'm cooking a late lunch, then maybe a nap and more bouncing ...

Cindyl - We're getting more snow and the drifting is 'going crazy' but winds are staying 40 or less.  Behind my Bronco II is a 4' drift.  I went to all windows and looked out - there are 'bare' areas but most drifts are 2 - 3 ft  but one house has a drift that looking at it is between 7' and 8'.   (Weather Channel just said we are in 'Blizzard Conditions' - DUH!)

Hubby got called out on a HP call (he's a tow driver).   And yes I do still worry about him.  "Crazy Drivers" who go out in our weather are CRAZY!  Also the ones that do not slow down or move over - the law enforcemen officers and recovery people DO have families to go home to!

Ok, for some reason I just couldn't pick up my pace during my walk, legs felt heavy even when stretched and felt sleepy to. Packed it in after 45 min. Went home got a strong cup of black tea and woke up! Almost thought I was getting the flu or something.

That snow storm is crazy. Gonna tune in on the weather later. Yikes your drowning in snow. UMMMM.... I hate to let you know but our daffodils are almost finished and tulips are full bloom/ hyacinths almost done and early rhododendrons comming on strong.  Ok I am bragging while you are freezing. Sorry.Cry You can get back at me when you hear how much rain is coming our way tomorrow.LaughingI won't even try to dodge the drops. It's straight to the raingear closet without even looking out the window. Cry

Girls watch the shoveling, Take some rest inbetween or get the neighbour boy. Its worth throwing him the money in order to pay the hefty fine for ruining your body. Yes, I have learned the hard way.

Purple, are you on their mailing list? I got their regular email yesterday and it had two pictures of you on it. If you're not getting it you should sign up. They use it to trial new designs each season, so you get to vote on your favorites of the ones they're considering, and it's also good for notices of sale items. Give it a go!

    Thanks, hugz
It really was  a fun day---- oh yes, I did learn a lot about what it was like to pose after shot after shot after shot - and still *try* to look natural.  Not as easy as it would seem.

I have to say, I loved wearing the gauntlets for the shoot.  As all of you glove wearers know, they really can cramp your styleYell

Well, there you have my 15 seconds of fame.
