Ok, I have been walking my usual but slowed up on lebed opening. Will make a note to myself! :)

Silly me, I put my raingear away thinking that the WET... I mean WEST coast was all done the rain till October. How goofy of me to forget we live in a rainforest. So I couldn't walk today due to raindrops, and that is my story and I am stickin to itTongue OutGood excuse huh!

The rest of you can make up for my lost walk!!!!

Sheesh I haven't heard how Purple is.  I hope she has figured it out by now.

Thx for thinking of me hugz!
Not much figured out really  but sooooo hoping I *may* have dodged a bullet.  Dr finally RX bactrum but when I went to buy it pharmasist talked me into cortisone creme and benadryl ( long story)instead.   Finally the angry red is getting just a tad lighter! Tomorrow  I  may know if it will turn a corner or not. Fingers crossed tightly.

All still a mystery.  Appreciate all the support so much.  VERY scary to see how the drs. treat this. Clueless.

    Binney  has been a Godsend.

Purple, if the red area is responding to cortisone cream and benadryl, that's a very good sign that it's an allergic response and not something totally sinister like cellulitis.  Hooooray!

Keep us posted.  Bedtime for me here, but I'll be looking for a report from you tomorrow morning!

Oh, and yes, Binney is indeed astonishing, in her knowledge of LE and in her willingness to make the time to be on these boards and share what she knows.

Binney...thank you for being a very caring friend to all of us.

Thank you, both, for the kind words. Did I mention that, besides LE, I also really hate cellulitis--and even the threat of it?Yell

    Onward anyhow!

First day of sleeve since  mysterious rash began ...seems like ages . ( week and a half ?) Anyway, rash is 'barely there pink', but still greets me in the mirror each AM to haunt me, and I am still very concerned about doing MLD.

Put my sleeve on this AM (wasnt tight) and went to a new TaiChi class.  Just felt a sooooo good to move again!

The Tai Chi did not make the area more red. The arm did not seem to swell.  I wore the sleeve app. 6 hrs. AOK.

    Arm felt good.

For anyone interested, btw , the Tai Chi ( Yang 24 forms) starts very much like LeBed opening ( only no bubbles or scarves  :>) but then  goes into ' the form" which anyone could check out on youtube.  I really do love it.

So hope this thing just goes away!  An enigma.

    EITED TO ADD:
I love this  Qigong 7 mins to healing. The beginning reninds me of the " Tai Chi Breather" hugz ' invented :>)http://www.youtube.com/user/ExerciseToHeal?v=g-jSBBwr8Ko&feature=pyv&ad=8395499484&kw=qigong

Purple, you don't know how happy I am to hear your heading towards a mend. I bet you really missed moving around. Tai chi is so relaxing and a great way to get into exercise again.

The tai chi breather is something I can't take credit for. I only gave the exercise a name. My LEist gave me the instructions saying that it was in a study and endorses it fully. I have forgotten to do it lately so thanks for the reminder.

One thing I do for sure is when I walk from the car to my office I deep breath slowly. I figure it is going to be some of my last good breaths before I get into stuffy office for a few hours.

The lebed is certainly some tai chi type exercises and that is why I find it relaxing...especially with zen type music.

May that pink disappear off your chest faster than I can wink!

hahhaha...thanks, hugz, but I'm afarid I had a  flare yesterday.  After the post about your burn, I remembered how good pute VIT E oil is. I bought some gel capsules yesterday ( since my skin where the 'light pink rash remains' is all dry) and applied it to the neck/chest area.  Within 20 mins it went from pink to red.  Hard to believe plain ole' VIT E would do that .

Not sure if it was the VIT E or the ' rubbing it on';which concerns me abut MLD...can't imagine when I dare do it again.

As for the moving, yes- it felt great and then somehow, later on , my  ' good ' shoulder  began to hurt ( A LOT)
Just feel like I am falling apart here !

Hoping it will all resolve soon so I can jump back in with you ladies.  At least our crazy weather is strating to warm back up .

    Hope everyone enjoys the holiday!

    PILATES CIRCLE

    Hi Ladies

With this  shoulder issue , now isnt the time to be looking into this really, but I was just wondering if any of you have tried the Pilates Cirlcle or even what your opinion of it ( with LE ) might be.  I really need to toine my arms, but cannot seem to get started with weights.  Furthermore, I broke my left (LE) shoulder several yrs ago and tore the R Cuff (avulsion fx ) so I never did get back to any substantial dumbells in that arm anyhow.

I know Carol added on some info in her EX. doc .  In any case, if anyone is intereted, pls check this out:

    Opinions ?

oops..>I almost forgot- and a little BC/LE Pilates circle modification info here :

I haven't been in here for a while, been busy busy busy with work and spring garden cleanup and planting. Oh, and work travel!  Been getting steps in, mostly, but not a lot of dedicated breathe-hard cardio, which I need to get back to pronto.  Only missed my gym weight lifting once, while traveling for work, so I'm good except for needing more cardio work.  Hope everyone else is staying active.  This time of year, there are so many activities competing for our time.

Purple, that Pilates/BC/LE article is good, thanks for posting. I would add only that it's not ok to have pain AFTER a Pilates session. The article emphasizes avoiding pain during the session, which is  very good advice, but we need BC survivors to also realize that pain after any kind of exercise, including good old muscle soreness, triggers the body inflammatory response and can send lymph running to the rescue: meaning too much lymph in our case!

I'm pouting instead of exercising, because I have a major league cold and feel to icky to work out.  Thought about going to the gym today to meet with my trainer, but then thought again, because I sure do not want to pass the bug along to him or anyone else at the gym.  So I got a fair number of steps in today, mostly doing errands and some work around the house, but nothing cardio.  Hoping for a full return to normal by Monday.  The rest of you will just have to do my exercise and weight lifting for me in the meantime!  (It's so good to have friends like you I can count on to help out!)

    YAY!
Good for you, Carol!  I cant tell you how upset I get when people I work with come in sneezing and coughing all over me- ESP. with my COPD.  You and your trainer will be all the better for  a break day.

As for me, I am still battling the ' rash' , and Drs are saying there may be complex reasons ( UGH)  Doing the Lebed opening instead of MLD for now, and will be getting bloodwork on my throid which does have  multinodulat goiter.  Ever since I began the MLD , I always wondered if I could stimulate the darn thyroid and the rash is making me wonder more.  Anyone with thyroid  'issues' or a goiter might want to consider at least keeping a watch on their TSH levels.... just in case.

I have a  feeling it may be  a long road before I can fill in and do any exercise for you. In the meantime, rest up and feel better!

Purple-I'm so sorry that you are still dealing with that rash.

I went back to my LE therapist and she is teaching me breast massage.  My arm is doing great...no sign of swelling. But, my breast is swollen so I hope these massages help. I went to a bra compression specialist and she couldn't find a compression bra to fit me.  I'm large breasted but small around my back.  She told me that after DD cups manufacturers don't make much.  So, she's going to order some bras for me and see if any fit.  She's also going to ask a women up north who is a LE truckage specialist about my case. In the meantime, I'm sleeping with a foam form fitted under my breast. I bought some cheap bras at Walmarts and I slip the form in that. So far, it's working. When I wake up my breast is soft instead of hard. Laughing

Hope everyone has a comfortable weekend!

    fgm--

I usually shop at an outlet store near me for Hanes/Bali/Playtex.  If anyone tells you they do not make much above a DD then tell them they are not looking!

I wear a DD but of late...the outlet store calls me only mid range!  There are lots more choices than in the past for larger size folks.  I recently stocked up and found some very interesting, supportive, non wire Playtex stuff so maybe you should check online?

Thanks for the info Proud and Purple.   I have a compression cami. It helps with my side but it squishes my breast and by the end of the day it's torture and makes my breast hard.  I'm waiting to hear from the fitter.  I'll let you know.

    Have a great weekend!

Hey! Boy it's been ages since I've checked in here. I've just been working out, it's been too rainy for cycling. Almost ready to start working at Mt Rainier volunteering soon. Heat, mosquitoes, and pack, oh my!

Keep on kicking LE's butt everyone!

fgm, I asked a saleperson if there were any good bras in 34 dd for my neice and she showed me the Olga bra line and said she wears it herself and is a dd. They were really pretty and they had a neoprene typed strap for better hold up. She also said she has seen. "G" size.  They Olga bra she showed me had wires which we don't want for trunkal. See if they come in wireless.
I am in the new Bali 3488 softcup seamless (i think that is the model number) For me it is the best and first bra that fits but the armpit could come up higher but really its not bad. It comes with foam built cups and in so it evens me out.  I won't wear it everyday but it is a nice option on a hot day from my camis shaper. This bra works for my 42 ( B) band size which is always hard to find being such a small cup.

Nibbana, What are you doing with volunteering at Rainer. Campgrounds. programs? What a beautiful mount. during flower peak.

    Walkies and lebeds today.

Purple. How is the rash doing? Are you beyond frustration yet. Hang on girl!

Carol, Do you still have a stuffy nose and did you get exercise in while sneezing?

    Hugz,

I patrol the meadows around Paradise alpine area, keeping visitors off of the flowers and on the trail mostly. It's fun, but a long drive there.

Nibbana, I sure do wish I could join you on one of those patrols.  Or would that make me one of the tourists off the trail?  I visited Rainier decades ago. It's fabulous!

Hugz, I am now over the sniffles, and all I can say is that constant deep-belly coughing hurts!  I started some exercise in earnest yesterday, back in the gym for weight training.  Had to back down the weights a bit for LE safety, after missing a full week, ugh. I walked on a steep grade on a treadmill for half an hour, to work on getting in shape for stair climbing. We live on a high bluff over water, and there's a long and windy staircase to get there.  I could be just walking up and down the steps for 45 minutes straight, but I'd have to be mighty speedy to outrun the mosquitoes, because the stairs are completely in the woods.  So steep treadmill work will have to do, for training so I can dash down and up when I want, without getting all out of breath in the first twenty steps!

Don't you just hate the icky feeling of bug spray all over you?  I have a mesh jacket and head cover, but it's not very useful for working in the garden.  Nibbana, what are you doing to keep the bugs at bay?

Nibbana, I used to do a voluteer thing at the Audoban society book store at Sandy Hook Nat Park.  It was fun, course I know nothing about birds and really did it to help save the park from development which at the time was threatened.  Course the Hurricane Sandy sort of messed it up.

You have me thinking as I plan on retiring in 11 months and I may look into bird duty again!
