Our instructor is in the water with us and has an assistant who makes the rounds to make sure all are doing the exercises properly. Once you know the exercises, you will probably not need to be watching so intently all the time. As an alternative, just pick a nearby person and model what they are doing.

Just completed 30 minutes on the treadmill. Do you all wear your sleeves and compression camisoles when you excercise?
Feeling good today!
0 -
Yes, I was told to wear my compression when I exercise.
0 -
yes definitely exercising and flying are probably the most important times to wear compression garment

Stretch class, treadmill and rowing machine today. 900 meters on the rowing machine! That is 0.55 miles. Woot!

gray, gloomy, damp and cool here today. Went in the big pool for Aqua Arthritis, and just felt the pool was too cool to handle today. So I tried the class in the warm pool. Wow! I really liked it and liked the instructor. Had a lot to do with body mechanics and posture. Stuff that I can use help with due to my wonky neck. Definitely going back to that one on Thurs.
I had a free 2 week pass to the gym from my PCP. That expires today, so I made the big leap and joined! So I gotta go now!!

eeeks I think a post it gremlin got my last post as I don't see it here. Back from vaca and now working off gained pounds from overindulgence. Went to gym to tramp it off today. Might take a month to get those three gainers pounds off!
Glennie ....you know your enjoying yourself with your free gym pass. It's time to spend the bucks on yourself and join for good! You will thank yourself promptly!
Tsoe. I'm glad your making use of the dreadmill. Keep it up

Oh dear...the food fairy came and delivered goodies then put a spell on my exercise routine.....um....well..let's just say I had a mouth party and have paid dearly for it. Dang anyway! Hitting gym up tomorrow and buying Salad, Salad and more salad. I must bite my taste buds off this week and suck lemons as a punishment. HELP me.

The holidays are so hard, food-wise. And my dog is declining,, and I want to eat all the bad stuff when I'm emotional.
Went to the Aqua class in the warm pool yesterday. Really liking this class, it is a challenge! Seeing my LE therapist today, and looking forward to telling her all about it.

Right there with the food fairy...still have some cookies left and fudge, but had a fabulous visit with all my children home for the Christmas celebrations. I drove the 20 minute drive to my water aerobics class last night only to find the pool closed due to needing a shock treatment to clean up the water. Arrgghh...well, I tried. Guess I will have to settle for a long walk today, and try the pool again tomorrow.

Glennie. dogs truly are mans best friend,he would rather want you to think of all the nice walks and talks you had than emotional eat but it's so true that some off us reach for that kind of comfort and it's so distracting from the issue at hand .Give your best friend a hug and tell him you love all that he's done for you. I'm glad your taking care of yourself by exercising. It lifts spirits to! Keep it up.
Laural, Shooed the food fairy away today and tried to behave. Did a workout and decided that I lagged and need to step it up.thinking I might go three times to gym instead of twice week this Jan. Also ice has gone off my roads so there are not excuses. Laural, dang all that way and they had the nerve to close pool. SheeeshI hope you walked instead.

Aw, Glennie, I'm so sorry--so hard. Hang in there and treasure all that love he feels for you. Nothing quite like our faithful critters, is there?
Gentle hugs,

Thanks, Binney, she has had Cushing's disease for 5 years, and my vet says they usually only live 2-3 years with that. So I'm lucky that she has done so well for so long. But she is still eating and walking, so she could continue on for a while! **knock on wood**

Made my 10,000 steps today by cleaning up all the Christmas decorations, then followed by a brisk walk in the park as my swim class was cancelled again for today. Sent the last of the cookies to work with my hubby today so sugar is out of the house. Now the snow is falling...very pretty to see from the warm inside.

Got out and welcomed the New Year with church, followed by a 4 mile walk with my hubby. Sunshine always makes the journey nicer. Now to keep the forward momentum going all year

Yes, Go Laural!
Did 0.85 miles on the treadmill and 1000 m on the rower (YAY) and a few arm exercises wearing sleeve of course. Aqua class tomorrow.

- Attended my second aerobics class today. Sore as all get--out, but happy. I'm almost afraid to post, because over the past year I've made so many false exercise starts at home, then petered out after a week or so. I guess I really do need the peer pressure of a group around me --- and the financial pressure of "I've already paid for this!" But I really need to get back in shape. So I rejoined the health club I used to belong to before bc, and have now gone twice a week for five weeks (at first just Pilates, but am now also trying the more strenuous things). AND I've used our home exercise bike a few times in between. My compression sleeve and glove have so far prevented any flare-ups (I wear them all the time anyway).

tessu don't look back on false starts as they just create negativity, look today and forward. You have made the right step in a good direction. We are all here to encourage one another and you have encouraged me by saying you have done five weeks!A few more and it will be a habit that you will look forward to.
Hope your derm tests are ok. Yes crazy town for sure!
I'm almost craving the treadmill today as we have had icy roads for three weeks and I won't walk outside yet. Looking forward to this afternoons Gymtime.
I believe I finally slew the food fairy as I have put the chocolate into the freezer. Also standing in grocery lineup I almost picked up a chocolate bar but talked myself out of it. Decided to fry a egg when I got home instead. Whew almost blew it. Back to food tracking today which works out great for me!

OkI dragged chocolate out of freezer and devoured then justified I could because I walked 70 minutes. Chocolate all gone! No more finding its way into the house for awhile.

My ice cream is almost gone too. Soon,,,,,

I was so glad to get the Christmas goodies out of the house, Glennie. Now just don't let anymore fall into your shopping basket and you will be set for success. Great job on the walking! I did 2 swim classes this week, and one 4 mile walk and an evening with my exercise video yesterday. Since stopping the Arimidex (I have been on it for 5 years almost), I have been able to get off my blood pressure med as well. The oncologist was surprised at this. He told me he was sure it was just my excess weight that caused the high blood pressure. And yet, one of the side effects listed is increased blood pressure...go figure.

Ok so I'm hearing goodies are coming to a close. Great. Hey all you butt kickers your inspiring me with all the moving. Went to gym and just loved it even though it was a morning gym session and I hate mornings generally.

Well that was a problem, I didn't wear my compression sleeve when I got on the elliptical - I'm usually on it for 45 minutes and crank up the incline. I feel so good when I'm done. I was going 3-4 times a week, but now I just took a M-F job. I have one at home so I might set it up in a spare room and get on it in the mornings.
Today my arm/hand really swelled with the warmer weather. I don't want to wear the sleeve at work since I'm in sales, so I'm drinking a lot of water, deep breathing, and doing the raised arm and hand squeeze. What else can I do?

Homemom. Sounds like you enjoy the benefits of exercise. Yes do set up your equipment at home and carry on carefully. When I do elliptical I gently rest my arms on the machine which elevates themsometimes I jog and hold onto nothing. This works for me. You may have to back off a bit if your using the arm part of the machine until you have this beast figured out.
You will have to get control of your arm and hand before it controls you to a uncomfortable level and gets worse. Hand and arm sleeve are a must when you have lymphedema not just for exercise but even at work. If you just wear a sleeve the fluid will get stuck in your hand and then that is a big monster to deal with.
You are doing the right things to help. Rest your arm above your heart so the stagnant fluid doesn't get trapped and it will encourage it to move out.
Watch repetitious use of your arm and if your not use to heavy lifting then back off.
You can spray mist your sleeve and hand protectionwith water and it will be cooler in the heat.
You need to see a qualified lymphedema therapist asap to gain control or you will progress.
