Thanks hugz - I am in sales so I'm not sure I'll wear it at work, at least not at first. I never use the arm handles on the elliptical because I like to see my heart rate. I did just wear the sleeve on two flights this year - once to Paris with no negative affects, and once to California in October. The Cali trip did just what you mentioned, my hand got fat. It gets warm here and right now it's in the high 70's to 80. I find it gets worse in the warm weather. I followed the link to the Step Up website and it is full of great info. I believe there is a Lymph doc here in my town and I have to contact them to make an appointment.

    Thank you

HomeMom,, there is a Lymph Dr in Orlando. I have considered driving down to see her. Please do let me know if you go to her. Since FL is warm 99% of the time,, it sucks that LE gets worse in warm weather.

Ok it was sunny but cold and so doggy took me for a 75 min walk. I liked it as I have spent a lot of time indoors due to our cold snap and the air was so fresh.

Glennie, what a great idea to point homemom toward a nearby therapist.

Did Aqua class twice this week, in the warm pool Temp is probably 94? or so? No issues with the water temp.

Next week the class schedule changes, so gotta see what is offered when,,,

Grounded at the moment by the flu, so had to skip Pilates yesterday (yes, I did get vaccinated!). But I finally checked out the hours and price for the town swim hall earlier this week, just before this hit.

Question: do I remove my compression sleeve and glove to swim?

Yes, Tessu, remove your sleeve and glove. The water gives you gentle compression,, that's why swimming and other water exercises are so good for us.

I was at both Water Aerobics classes this week. Also got in a 4.5 mile walk with my hubby along a bike trail near us. He has a new camera and wanted to start practicing with it so the pace was leisurely but nice to be out. Today is going to be in the 60's here, so am lacing up my walking shoes once the house is clean. Good job on walking Glennie and congrats on the new dog. I visited my onco this week. He was not pleased with my stopping the anastrozole, but since going off, I have been able to get off my blood pressure meds and potassium, sleep much better, and have more energy. I am thinking of a visit to the Cancer Treatment Center in Zion soon to get a comprehensive look as I am at the 5 year mark, as well as to have an evaluation of my lymphedema. They are now doing microsurgery, attaching the lymph drainage to the existing nearby blood vessels to create drainage. Sure would be nice to not have to wear compression daily.

Hi all dog walkers and 4.5 trailblazers. Good to hear your moving. Me to.

Glennie a dogs eyes can really make me guilty and I go reach for the leash. Works every time. You might want to keep that dog!

Laural Good idea to walk with hubby. It doesn't matter if you walk slow with him whilst taking pics or fast the whole idea is to get out and move!

Let us know if your going for microsurgery for le as we need your experiences.

Yah those drugs sucked the life out of me and 12 years later I still have stiff joints. My fingers feel like baseball mitts and I drop everything. I have to be careful when I do my friends dishes because I don't want to drop a plate and break it as I have done somany times before.

Dang it, I hated what that drug did to me but hope it worked for both of us. At five years they didn't offer me anymore at that time. I don't know what ten years would do. I'd be crippled by now. I often wonder what my answer would be if they offered me the choice

Glennie. My dog is a puller so I use a halter on his nose much like a horse halter but for dogs and is cruelty free.

The principal is that I'm alpha and so I lead him Just like when alpha lead dogs in the wild nudge each other to get moving. It works so good I can hold the leash wrapped on my pinky and he won't pull. 25 bucks approx called a halty. Been using one for last 30 years on dogs. It's wonderful. At first they try to rub it off their nose in the grass but becomes accustomed to who is the boss leader.

When my dog sees a cat he's after it but soon as I nudge the halter backwards he knows I'm in control and stops in his tracts.

Kinda fun watching them chase squirrels though. My doggy chases them in our fenced yard. Hasn't caught one yet

If I didn't have the halter I wouldn't be able to walk him. Also has saved a lot ofshoulder surgerys for me!

Yeah Glennie. What good news. You get chocolate he gets tasty bone.

Decent workout today despite both wrists are officially tendinitis not carpal tunnel. We switched up the work out and Physio twice a week. Getting cold laser. I heard they use it for le. Maybe it's time I invested in a machine. Anyone know about using it for le?

I so admire all of you. The last time I looked into this thread it was on page 57. Wow, now page 193. I know I need to do better at exercising. I was doing great for awhile until I fell & broke my arm last March. Unfortunately that was due to CIPN & feet that feel nothing. After that I got really nervous about walking because the ortho told me if I fell again it would be major surgery/pins/plates/etc. I started back on a treadmill late last year. Somehow even with new shoes I got horrendous blisters on the balls of my feet. And of course I couldn't feel them until they were broken & oozing. (sorry TMI) I do have an appointment to see a podiatrist next month. I hope he has some ideas because I've really become a couch potato. And I am going to try a "silver sneaker" class this week w/a friend. Yeah, I know, funny. I'm laughing myself since at 60 before all this BC mess started, my personal trainer said wanted to use me as a demo/example for all her 30 year olds. Thanks for all your good examples.

MinusTwo, Have you ever thought of water exercise? It is far easier on the joints and bones, and if you fall, the water catches you Happy You may want to give it a try at least to start. Do get a good pair of water shoes to protect your feet from getting any injuries though. I go to the pool three times a week now, and really feel it if I miss a few days. Even just walking in the chest high water is a great exercise.

Yes Loral, I did a water aerobics class for part of the summer of 2015. Even with sleeves and a compression bra in the water, I had swelling. Probably because I don't know how to tone down the exercise. My issue about doing things half way. Ergh. But yes, I need to try it again.

minus. You don't need to wear compression garments in the water as water IS like wearing full compression garment. You may have swelled because you have to start out gradual. Also those foam Dumbbells may be to much of a strain on our arms.

Yes I have a problem over doing it to!

    Gym this morn

hugz - I am quite tall and can't ever find a spot in the small community pool where my arms are really underwater. The 'sweet spot' means my feet are constantly slipping down the slope. My group uses noodles instead of dumbbells, but you're probably right about the strain. I'll try again this summer.

The 'silver sneakers' class was a good re-start. Many exercises are done sitting with 3 lb weights (I opted for 2 lb at first), stretch 'ropes' and a squishy ball. For the standing exercises, it was good to have the chair back to hold on to. I really don't have much balance because of the neuropathy in my feet. The class is twice a week & I'm going again this morning.

I was doing a great job going to the gym and getting on the elliptical with a fairly high resistance for 45 min 3x a week. Now I've gone back to a M-F full time sales job and I've got to get into another routine. I wear my sleeve when I get home for about 3-3.5 hours a night. The warm weather here is irritating it.

home mom. Try spraying your sleeves with water. So much cooler but don't keep them soaked all day to encourage bacteria maybe. Good for you for exercising. Try walking on your lunch if not to hot or before work. Don't lose your strength and cardio that you gained. Forward go.

    Minustwo. Good job girl!

Ok....because we are snowed in and I can't walk outside because I'm afraid I will fall on both of my tendentious wrists I'm just staying inside and eating. Ugh. DANG.

But I am driving to the gym which is great and I did a nice workout today. However I have lost strength in my wrists and will have to back off on my 7 pound weighs that took me a year and a half to get to. DOUBLE DANG AND UGH....,oh well I'll just push ahead and do the best I can. Doing leg lifts in my chair as I'm typing. Onward march

Hugz4u, Don't give up. I always like the quote "Two steps forward and one step back makes a cha cha." Stay solid in your dance! Every step makes a difference.I have been enjoying the addition of one more water class at my gym, so now I have 6 hours a week in the pool. As I am an empty nester, I am able to take the time for me. It is kind of nice for a change. I fly out Sunday to the Cancer Treatment Center of America to get a comprehensive evaluation and some recommendations for a good plan now that I am five years out. They will also take a look at my lymphedema, although an appointment with their specialist may have to wait for another time as his schedule was quite full. Looking forward to getting a plan with a whole team approach to help me to keep thriving Smile
