And don't forget a hat too. They also come embedded with blocking. Mine is certainly not pretty or feminine, but it has a very wide brim out to my shoulders and a 'string' under my chin to keep it from flying off.

well that gives me a reason to wear hats around town. :)

My favorite one really won't block much sun. But I have a few others that will, and they are pretty enough too. My husband said I looked good a few weeks ago when I was wearing lipstick and a hat. Maybe I'll do that sometimes. Right now I confess I'm most interested in comfort - shirts witharmholes I can get on over the wrapping and that I don't otherwise have to wrestle to get off andon, or get my hair pulled out of the neck hole (still can't reach my nape very well)

It's so had to stick to limitations when I have always been so active! I over did it yesterday. We are having a pool installed so the yard has been a mess. I moved lots of river stone, blew the carport out and pressure washed several things. Not to mention all the usual housework I do everyday. Everytime I rolled overy last night I woke myself up. I also have a child whow is multiple handicapped. She 116 pounds and walks with assistance. I have to pick her up alot. I'm sure that's why I have a hard time staying ahead of LE. So I have been moving her since one week after sure. That was my down time. DH helped and was home more during the first 2 weeks after surgery. I am learning new ways to manage this LE everyday and knowing when I shouldn't do things I know I can. That's the hard part...I know I can lift and do things yet walk away because I SHOULDN'T.

    Have a beautiful day!

half hour in pool yesterday, couldn't avoid the sun well and not risking it.

Hoping to get my usual time in today, but I'm so tired. I find I sleep well, when I exercise. I haven't slept last two nights. I see now the vicious cycle I have been in for weeks, but it's hard to have the energy to get out of it. I was going to sleep in today but had a bit of emergency with chicks, so up early and intensively trying to save them.

Few other projects need to get done today. So I hope I can manage. :

ok trying to shake off about two more pounds by end of July. This sounds easy but not for me. I did half hour weights and 2 1/2 hours cardio total today. I'm working out like mad and only dropping ounces at a time. Watching my calories to. Hoping i can be one pound less by next Wednesday but I fear a plateau is stopping me. Will try for another hour between eldercare duties tomorrow.

I hate plateaus. They are very real & very hard to get past. Sometimes i get stuck at one number for several weeks. One thing that works for me is not eating past 5pm. But boy do I miss my snacks - even though they're healthy. You've done such an amazing job of steadily dropping off the weight. Here to an extra pound for you this week.

We had a substitute water aerobics instructor Monday night. WAY too much running back & forth across the pool. Our group has a number of people with various physical handicaps - a minor stroke, MS, a heart monitor, bursitis, an aneurysm, bad knees, etc. They can not do an hour of that. Actually neither will I. Although I managed to keep up, my water shoes rubbed on my dead toes and caused major pain in one. It's always a toss with neuropathy. I don't want my feet to be dead, but I don't want them to recover to pain either. Darn chemo.

minus. Thx for help. I'm trying not to eat past 7 but because I'm prediabetic I can get low. I have to be very careful with my diet. If I have a bit of a fatty with high protein meal at seven it seems to hold me down till morn. I've tried intermittent fasting for 13 hours a few times in last couple weeks. I liked it but again I have to watch my lows especially burning more calories and sugars exercising.

Walked 40 min/two miles. My short legs flew and I was breathing faster than normal.

Your feet don't sound like much fun. I think it was you that told me about schetchers. I have sandals now that are very cushy in that brand and memory foam addias. It's my non fat ball of foot that needs the extra Cush. My nerve there is alive and well , talks to me in pain. I use orthotics which lift the ball of foot up solving the problem too but don't want to live in those 24/7.

Yes - the non-fat ball of the foot is exactly the things. Everyone is re-doing or has redone their 70s houses with wood or tiles floors. Even in 'kushy' shoes, I need to walk on carpet. No brainer for me. This summer I'm wearing Clarks thongs. Lots of padding.

I have bad feet, before all of this, and I got some cute, soft supportive shoes/sandals from jcpenny. Brand name is ZIbu. Mine are a t strap woven sandal. I've not been exercising, but running around getting DS grad party, going to his friends parties, eating cake and regaining the last 5 pounds i.lost!

Those shoes are running me around a college campus today and tomorrow for DS's college orientation, so I will let you know if they hold up.lol

My next surgery is next wed. Never had both sides surgerized before. I suspect I will be really limited for a few weeks. No aquatics for me until fall. Bummer!

    Thanks for keeping me encouraged!

minus. Yes hard floors are a no no. That's why I'm in shoes all but getting dressed and bath. I luv bare feet but if I go more than 15-20 min it's pain.

2fun. I will look up that brand. It has to have the most cushy forefront otherwise it's my ugly orthotics. Looking forward to seeing how you held up running around campus. What surgery are you getting if I may ask? Cancer related? Don't worry about gaining weight just move forward. If all else fails drink water before you eat. Mix club soda with white wine. Even tastier mix Perrier with chsmpangne to cut calories when your partying.

Gym today. Hot hot hot. Sweat sweat sweat.

    Thumbs up to all !

One day this week I mixed tonic water with 100% cranberry. It was pretty good. Maybe I should try tonic water with red wine.

Here I missed all the good talk about shoes. :) I need good ones too (the bones in one foot are arched strangely and I am limping halfway through the day if my shoes are not right. I was given a pair of shoes that are perfect for me but they don't make them anymore and mine are wearing out so it's been on my mind.

Not doing great with LE stuff. I have a few chickens and baby chicks and many of the chicks got sick a few days ago. It was pretty intense figuring out what was wrong with them (treating the wrong thing at first), treating them, etc. and I'm coming down with something myself. Decreased exercise means insomnia - almost no sleep for me for days, and lack of sleep usually drops my immunity.

On the plus side my PT has moved to mobility exercises. She said I'm slightly improved since my first visit (maybe the exercise and probably scar massage has helped) and now I'm getting to work on improving.

As far as weight I have major trouble losing. I don't eat much anyway (maybe need to actually eat more) and my weight is stubborn about not moving. But getting used to exercise, then reducing it, even without eating much, and I can gain a pound plus in a week. I really want to drop a significant amount though if I can manage it so I tend to think long-term about that. I'm still dealing with swelling, and I think I've lost and gained muscle, so again I'm just trying to think long-term.

It's encouraging though hearing about your routines. :)

Hugz, I hope you get past that plateau soon!

Minus, sorry to hear about upcoming surgery restrictions. I hated that ... they made me stay out of water for three surgeries, radiation, several biopsies, etc. so I had most of a year with no pool allowed. I think my surgeon might have let me in too soon after my BMX but I didn't argue. ;) I hope your surgery goes well and heals quickly!

Itfinally - I sure hope you don't come down with a summer illness. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I get the impression you're not in a big city?? If you can get to an SAS shoe store, they are really good at fitting problems.

I don't have any restrictions this year & no planned surgeries. (boy, I'm afraid to even say that and am knocking wood as I write) I missed much of 2016 when i broke my arm in a fall during a trip to San Francisco. The "cure" was immobilization for 6 weeks, so then I spent 6 months in physical therapy for a frozen shoulder. I'm twice as careful how & where I walk now.

oops that was 2Fun! Sorry I don't usually read on my phone and am doing a poor job.

2Fun, I hope YOUR surgery goes well and you heal quickly, and sorry you're going to be out of the pool for so long. :(

And thanks, Minus. This whole cancer thing decimated my immune system but I'm finding it FINALLY is fighting again. I'm hoping with rest, keeping warm, vitamin C, etc I may be fine. :)

I'll see if there's a SAS store in the city. And you're right, I live about 30-45 minutes from a city (not a big one). I'll see what I can find. I'm going to miss my old shoes. :)

OK, I'm taking a big chance recommending shoes before I've tried them but if I don't tell you now, I'll forget where to post this comment. "Thank you letrozole " :-(. Anyway, I was telling my hair gal this week about my sore feet all the time and she told me about a very comfortable shoe she had just gotten from her sister. She said she wore them standing 12 hours a day and it was the first time she went home without sore feet. So I went home, got online and ordered them and am now anxiously waiting for them to arrive. Theyare called "Allbirds"! Funny name but they sound comfortable and the best part is free shipping and free returns within 30 days. Only full sizes and if you are a half size order up. It tells you all about them on the website. Hope this helps those not close to a bigger city to find some comfortable shoes.

Free shipping and easy returns is always good if ordering shoes online. :)

We have a SAS outlet (not sure if they'd have the same service) a little more than an hour west (though the last time I drove to that area it was closer to two hours), and a SAS store about an hour and a half to the east. For as small as the cities are here, sometimes we have more chains and other things than we might, because we are on the coast.

My shoe is an Easy Spirit, and I do see some of their shoes have similar-looking soles. After I get back to work (hopefully!) maybe I should visit the outlet mall after all. We do have a large one that I could go to as a day trip. I haven't been in years because they took out the stores I used to shop. I miss getting huge, soft, durable towels for $5

hope I'm not repeating myself. I'm having thyroid removed, 30% chance of malignancy, or the way I think, 60% chance it will be benign, taking more tissue at MX incision site due to close margins (hope for clear margins), and TE exchange with lift on other side. Oh, I'm getting a blood vessel filled growth taken off the end of my nose for free!LOL

2fun. Oh my when you said surgery I had no idea what you have already been into. Ugh. You have been down a rough road already. I can tell though that you've been born on the sunny side of life and you will bounce back. Yes we're supporting you. Make sure they take care of your le and no BP needle sticks is wise in le side. My nurse came at me while I was groggy straight out of surgery. I stopped her before she stuck me. She said oh yah, That's right....I'll put a sign above your bed no needles or bp right side. Next time I'll write it in sharpie pen on my arm.

The allbird shoes look great. They are made of wool which would be awesome sweat absorbing. I wonder if they have lots of cushion which a lot of us girls need. There 95 dollars.

Trail walking one hour a day and 45 min swimming. On vaca till tomorrow. Finally broke my plateau by lowering calories by 200 daily and dropped two pounds but oy was it work to break it. All white stuff has been out of the house for months but I did find a teaspoon of icecream in the freezer and ate it. Was a good little girl and journaled the icecream. I'm on MyFitnessPal writing in all I eat. I reached my short term goal and now have 10 pounds to go to get to my ideal weight. It will be hard to do but I'll just plug away at it as I know those last ten have been there for 30 years.

My gym will soon do an assessment of me. I think I'll rock the score! Body fat down to healthy side . Heart pumping great. Bought two new smaller dresses as my reward. Girls, I was a couch potato when I started sept 2015. We all can progress doing even a little moving around. I'm hear for you.

There is a sign on our gym door. "Sitting is the new smoking" ugh we just got to beat that and exercise.

hugs, great job on getting nearer to your goal. I've kept 15 pounds off since this cancer stuff started for me. I figure when im.healed up I'll get more aggressive with activity. Goal is to drop 40 pounds to get to be just overweight!LOL. I was always strong and heavy, now I'm just heavy!

See you all on the other side of surgery!

    Hugs - GREAT accomplishment.

I lost 60 lbs w/chemo because of the Big D, when really only needed to lose 20. But of course over the next two years I bounced almost back to where I started. I've discovered that if I do moderate to high exercise five days a week AND eat only one meal a day & a light snack in the early evening, I can lose one lb every 10 days. Oh - and I can continue to have my glass of wine or gin & tonic every day. If I eat two meals a day I can sort of maintain - as long as I continue with one hour of exercise 5 days a week. But of course all of this depends on NO BREAD - my most fervent love. Sigh.

ah minus ain't it pitiful that we can't enjoy food like we used to. Yup every cal sticks to my ribs. Yes the key is for me also to exercise 5 days a week.

Did you say bread. Oh my I have the bread recipe that you make in a icecream pail and it takes five minutes to make and total of three hours for finished three round artisan loafs. You put a pan of water in the bottom of the oven to steam it for a nice crust. Add cheese and hot peppers or whatever you wish asyou fold loaf approxfour times gently. To die for. I can eat one loaf but stop myself. Swimming and trail today.

Sure give me up to a couple weeks though. I got a lot of things going on at once plus trying to exercise five days a week. Meanwhile go find a large icecream pail with a lid. This could be a great way to die....eating blissful bread. Must walk after two slices. They call it the 40 cent loaf as it super cheap to make. At the bread store they charge six bucks.

Oy it's hot where you live I couldn't do it. Me get dang crnky after 82 degrees
