I'm back!! Survived the colonoscopy and prep. Lost 2 pounds to! Yesterday was ordered no exercising after the procedure. Came home after and slept 4 hours! I'm such a light weight with anesthesia! When I woke up I didn't exercise but I did..blow the carport and drive way off, mopped the breezeway, walked to the mail box, cleaned the shutters at the front door and the front door. Went to the grocery store (I felt fine to drive) and put all the groceries up. Did a few loads of laundry. Finished my day with 14000+ steps.

Today I delivered Meals on Wheels. (I do an apartment building with 3 floors so I'm walking and pushing my git in her wheelchair) I'm getting ready to fire up the Wii because it looks like a storm in brewing. I was so hoping to get in the pool today.

flower. Good job walking the mile" in muggy but makes you smuggy “weather.

Varg. Oh my I don't know how you do it, meals on wheels too! You remind me of the roadrunner cartoon. You really burn up the pavement running around. Four stars for making it through colonoscopy! Losing weight was the bonus for doing it. Im due soon.

Got my tenatus shot and went straight to gym after. Did my usual weights and only 15 cardio so I will have to do other 30 when sun goes down. Planting more echinacea when cooler.

So hot here. North America and the world for that matter is in a heat wave.

Anyone get shingrix vaccine? Thinking of getting it while my immunity is up late summer. I hear side effects not nice! Flu like. But I don't want shingles like me mom in 2015 in head. Still major pain day and night. No drugs cut that type of pain totally.

Overly smug today lost three pounds since July 23, really worked on it.

Yes Hugz I got the Shingrex last year. I don't remember any bad side effects - even flu like. It's difficult (and expensive) to find someone who will give me shots in my hip or butt instead of my arm.

Cloudy but no rain yet so hoping to make water aerobics at 7pm.

Varga - I'm not believing you. I'd have to drink Red Bull every hour to even approximate your level of movement.

Hahaha! I have always been the little Energizer Bunny! My DD say I'm just OCD (that's probably the truth!) After I posted yesterday I spent 4 hours at urgent care. UGGGGHHHHH! I will have to explain the background so you will understand so here goes...

I am an AFL ( alternative family living) provider. I have one client I refer to her as "my girl ". We have been toget her for almost 20 years. I met her doing my internship with the local school system. When I went to work for the school system she was in my classroom. She was living in a group home at the time and was 9 years old. Her parents got her out of the group home and I have taken care of her since. Long story short, she spent Tuesday night with her mother and now has a sprained ankle and cannot bear weight for 2 weeks. Thus is going to make life a challenge! She walks with assistance and uses a wheelchair for long distance. I never bring her wheelchair in my house! My LE side will get a work out lifting 106 pounds now!

Varga, Your energy level is a gift and you seem to use it well. Be mindful when lifting to use good mechanics. Nothing worse than when the caretaker gets injured.

I took yesterday off as school started up followed by Bible study. Back to swimming pool today for 2 hour aerobics and resistive weights class

Hugz- I had shingles last year and my PCP said that I would have some immunity for about 3 years, but then should get the new vaccine. He said it is much better than the old one -more effective and not a live virus .

flower.thx for info. I didn’t know that. So maybe my mom is line for a new bout soon. It’s been three years. We might be both getting the shot then.

Varg. Thx for sharing. You remind me of my sis. She working with k-primary. Over the years there were a few kids she really wanted to take home and often talks about them as she sees them grow right thru the sch system until 18. There home life was miserable and they were such sweet kids. All had special needs. One in particular would just beam when you would even glance at her. Of course she wanted to take a few home but circumstances didn’t allow. Our family appreciates special needs kids and the caregivers like you deserve heaps of ice cream everyday... well actually...not ice cream but a pedi at the salon.... then it can be counted as exercise if you walk there!

Ok I peeled off my walk. I forced myself to get up real early and was done before heat came.
We’re 1/3 rd done challenge and getting ready to summit the next hump! Yeah!!

I need a pedicure so bad to!! If DH gets home early one afternoon I can run get one. My girl loves to cuddle with him so I can get away for a hour or 2 when I need to.

I got 6 miles in today so far. We delivered Meals on Wheels today (and will tomorrow to) did several laps around Walmart pushing my girl just to waste time. I usually don't keep her in her stroller/wheelchair at home so not being about to move about the house called for some wheeling around somewhere!

I'll up date again later. Right now I'm under her in the recliner. When's she's down I have to be down to sometimes. If I want her off her foot I have to stay right beside her. If I don't she will follow me through the house lol

Awfully quiet on here. Hope that means you are all taking a well deserved rest or having so much fun that you haven’t had time to report back. I am a sweaty Smug tonight, with a 30 minute walk and a 20 minute Back and Hip exercise session done. Off to an Art on the Lawn show tomorrow, so will get in some slow walking and gawking for several hours.

Just checking in. Tried to take yesterday off, but I'm finding the exercise is a really effective stress reducer, so I ended up walking in the dark house after everyone was in bed. It was peaceful and sorta cozy. Hugz, thanks for this challenge--it's really been a help to me. And all the rest of you, thanks for joining in. The encouragement is priceless.

Varga, I don't see why you can't have BOTH a pedi at the salon and ice cream. Go for it!

I delivered Meals on Wheels yesterday and today as well. I got a 40 minute walk in earlier this morning. Between the walk 2 Meals on Wheels Walmart shopping trip to Sams ran picked up the oldest granddaughter and hit the grocery store on the way home I have clothes to 27000 steps and that's because I do double time putting my groceries up! Most everything goes down stairs. My upright freezers downstairs my extra refrigerators downstairs and my pantry. Due to the lymphedema I can't carry as much stuff as I used to so more steps for me! Feeling smug with everything I got accomplished today carry on girls!

Well if it isn't the smuggets reporting in with a smuggly SMUG report. You all did get your smuggle on this week and you all rock! ......I hate to brag but I get the next two days off. No exercise for ME! Now if you’ll excuse me I need to finish off 15 more min dog walking...just couldn’t squeeze that in at the gym.

I'm with Binney. Thanks, Hugz ,for starting this challenge! I've logged 30 minutes of cardio every day this week, even on the day I go to Strength & Stretch class.

My lymphedema specialist took measurements at this week's session, and I have reduced in my forearm. My shoulder is a bit larger, but she feels the lymph is moving that way and towards the collectors. Between exercise and reduced swelling, I'm feeling a wee bit smug. ;-)

It's warm and muggy here, so I will go to the gym later today. Keep up the great work, everyone!

Smugget reporting in. Missed Thursday since the gas company decided I needed a new meter & then couldn't get the water heater re-lit. So then I had to wait on a plumber. Planned to do an hour on Friday (my normal off day) but we had a fierce 30 minute rain storm and lost all power yesterday afternoon. No way was I walking in a pitch black neighborhood last night - not to mention it was important NOT to get hot & sweaty since I had no air conditioning. The house only got up to 81 as the storm cooled things down a bit so I slept OK

I did walk several blocks to water aerobics this morning and the entire hour was mostly serious cardio aerobics today, but I had arranged to ride home with a friend in case we still didn't have power (read A/C). I don't require it very cold, but didn't want to be walking in 95 degree sun & come home to an 85 degree house. Luckily by the time I got home at noon the power was on.

Looks like most of the food in the fridge & freezer will be OK - except the ice cream. And I'll need to cook salmon fillets tonight. Actually this was a good test run. I live in hurricane country and have lots of flashlights & emergency lanterns & radios, however I hadn't changed out batteries in a couple of years. Turned out most supposedly expired sometime between 2012 and 2016 so that's why things were on the dim side last night. Everything switched out now except my battery operated small fan. I ran out of "D" cells. Absolutely astounding how many things have battery back up now.

MinusTwo - we had a hard rain to! It came out of now where. The kids were in the pool and BAM down pour! They got out in time. My kitchen winds are a messy now because the wind blew the rain against them. I am alway in the kitchen and the sun shines through the two windows that over look the pool so my OCD self likes them clean. Glad it wasn't to unbearable for you! I freeze at night so I would have been fine. I still sleep with a electric blanket!

Minus 2- glad the power is back on.

Hershey, glad you are making progress.

Vargadoll, you make me tired just reading your post! I got a Bellisse bra to see if I can get this swelling down, now that the tissue is less fibrotic. I had to order it online because the 2 retailers in our area don't carry it . I am going to submit a claim to medicare to see if they will partially reimburse me.They pay 42$ on a compression bra. I have gotten so much conflicting info about compression bras, I feel like more of an expert than my therapists. My therapist keeps telling me how much better it is and I am putting my trust in her about this!

I am still walking my 2 miles/day and have done some work in the garden but have to limit it due to the heat .Wish I could show you all a picture of my flower garden. It is mostly zinnias but all colors and it cheers me up just to look at them and all the bees and butterflies enjoying the flowers.

    Happy exercising everyone!

I completed a Body and Soul DVD today...30 minutes of cardio. Had fun at the Art Show this morning, but too slow moving to count as exercise. The rain held off, and finally blew over and away, leaving humidity but sunshine. Hope to see some meteor showers tonight if the clouds stay away.

Sounds like all are doing well with lots of different exercises getting done. Due to my recent bout of cellulitis, I am back to wearing compression. I have used the Solidea sleeve for many years now, and it works the best for me as the sleeve is held in place by a shoulder piece and a half sleeve on the opposite arm. The sleeve is from an Italian company with 23/32 mm compression. Apparently FDA got involved and as it is labeled as “Shapewear”, it is no longer being distributed in US or being reimbursed by insurance. I ended up ordering my next set straight from Italy online. It cost about half what I paid from the US distributor so at least less out of pocket cost for me as UHC won’t pay anything as it can’t be coded as compression garment due to the package label. Grrrr..

Laurel- I saw that sleeve on compression guru! I hate when the top of my sleeve shows and thought I might like that one but them thought that strap would drive me crazy!

Busy day yesterday! House work, a little school shopping with granddaughter #1, DH bought a new truck. He had been looking for months and found one yesterday. It met my one requirement...it's white..lok we have 9 white vehicles and one green. Then DD and SIL came over for dinner. They left with our Suburban. They have 5 of the 6 grandchildren and needed a bigger car. DD was beyond excited when she left. I'll miss my big car but so happy she has it.

Back to exercise I got a 40 minute run and this was my total for the day. Apparently I got 140 minutes of Cardio total. Chasing grandbabies is a work out! Feeling smug with myself! We had breakfast for dinner and I made waffles I needed to extra work....hahaha

I put in a leisurely 35 minute walk at our nearby Aullwood Center, enjoying the woods full of Magic Lilies.

    image

Vargadoll, the Solidea sleeve I order looks like this:

    image

I could not do the Sigvaris sleeve that has the elastic band that runs around the chest as it caused my scars on opposite side to get irritated.

Flowergal, I love zinnias. They are so colorful when planted in a mass. I haven't grown any for quite some time. Maybe need to include them in my garden next year. I also miss my nasturtiums.

Laurel Lilly wood walk look so inviting

Flowergal. Love zinnias they just don’t grow the best here. They last so long... good bang!

At gym today. 30 min cardio but really dragged tail. One of those days.

Wow, Laural! Magic Lillies indeed! Absolutely enchanting! (We are in the depths of a desert summer, complete with wind storms that are taking out trees all over the neighborhood, and dust so thick I've given up trying to keep it a bay, so you can imagine how inviting that looks about now!)

I'll do my indoor walk today with my eyes closed, imagining Magic Lillies!

Just back from my 2 hours in the Water Aerobics. Feels so good to exercise in the water. I am with Hugz when it comes to squats. I had a hip replaced due to chemo damage 3 years ago, and it is friends with me again. My knees prefer the water as a cushion. I start back to school tomorrow, so need to keep the knees happy sitting in little preschool chairs and on the floor. I like to keep us all on friendly terms. On the other hand, I did take out my rebounder trampoline today and put in a few minutes of jumping to keep the lymph system moving. Keep moving everyone with whatever works for you.

Laurel - I was feeling smug about my 1 hour of water aerobics until I saw you did two. Wow. Does it count that we did 250 crunches?

Sorry, count me out of the squat challenge. I HATE squats. I can do probably 10 -15 if I'm very careful to push back up only with my heels and only do them twice a week, but my R knee ends up sore.
