Tina - hooray on the decluttering!!  Those empty corners and nooks must look fabulous.  Great job.  Dawne - yikes on the thumb - take care of yourself. Carol - good advice on the Leslie Sansone DVDs - I may have to check them out.  With the coming of winter I'm going to need indoor exercises.

Yoga class last night, and I ran the two mile round trip down to the rec center.  Flexitouch last night.  I'm off today so I took the time to do a nice 3 mile run just now.  MLD before the run, and about to do the Lebeds.  Have a routine follow up with my bs today - she always gets an earful about LE from me, so I'm sure she's not looking forward to it! Tongue Out

Tina, I totally understand about your house decorating, mine has stopped as it is too hard on Le, mostly though it is me, I have a hard time putting down my tools, etc to go and have an Le rest. I was happy that you reported that you take little Le breaks! I am so glad you are pleased with your Reno results. Another elephant off your back! My friend sets a timer to stop and rest due to back pain otherwise she gets herself into trouble as she is a real maverick. That is a good idea, I got to try it when I do physical housework and gardening as I come from a long line of workaholics in our family.

Dawne, I used bromaline for my bmx surgery and the PS couldn't believe how fast I healed. If my memory serves me right, I believe it takes care of hypertrophic scarring and bruising. I can't remember the dose, it was high, maybe 500mg 4 times a day, maybe Tina knows. It's not expensive. I should have it on hand now that Tina reminded me.

Dawne, I hope you are reporting your injury's to a doctor.

Becky, keep it up girl, I tried Leslie sansone yesterday and I like it.

Purple, Wait for the experts to answer you, but I think you could wear the band because your inguinal nodes are in working order, it's your upper quadrant that is not working( like mine :( I can't express this enough. As much as we want to "gung ho," we have to start out slow, and I mean like a ten minute walk, see how you feel and add each day. This is how I avoid shin splints, etc. slow and steady wins the race!

Natsfan, Sounds like you got a good plan going! Yah...you preach to your BS, good for you! I even told my neurologist. He was surprised that you can get LE after years, he thought you got it on the surgery day!

I'm not familiar with the drugs you all mentioned Embarassed... bro alanine and the ones mentioned by Tina??

Are they prescription or over the counter?  How about advil?  Tongue Out

I don't have a primary care doc right now ... he left private practice and went to VA and none will take me because I don't have insurance.  Undecided

Purple, I can't see a problem with a knee brace (unless perhaps you had DIEP surgery--then I might hesitate). You wouldn't want to do that to an at-risk elbow, of course.

Dawne - Bromelain and Wobenzyme are enzymes that help reduce inflammation and can be purchased at a vitamin or health food store. Bromelain is the enzyme found in pineapple, and Wobenzyme is a combination of enzymes that all work to reduce inflammation. I cannot remember the dosages, but they were on the bottles.

Dawne, Sorry about my iPad spelling the word bromelain wrong. So yes, I was talking about the same thing as Tina was . Bromelain reduces inflammation and yes it comes from the pineapple core. People also use it for digesting their meal. You get it at the health food store, They will tell you how much to take. You need to look after your problem right away. My bruising was greatly reduced after my bmx from taking it. I think Advil will only kill the pain unless it has an antiinflamatory in it. Sometimes I get the big guns out and use the anti-inflammatory drug Naproxen. It comes under another brand name and you can get it off shelf. Oh yah, I think is is Aleve but not sure. Help me some one! Dang it, on no insurance:(

Purple are you going to try exercise tonight? I just had my date with Leslie Sansone, one mile only.

My understanding is the Advil (ibuprofen) is an anti-inflammatory.

Back to exercise and LE care ... Wink

Haven't done much today but will do MLD tonight.  I did light weights yesterday with my upper body and my trainer about killed me on abs and legs.  Tongue Out  Feeling it today but when my abs hurt after a work-out ... amongst my favorite things!  Depending on how much work I get done tonight ... may go for a walk later.

I was all set to put my elastic FUTURO brace on this morning and  walk with Sansone,  but  I woke this AM with the leg hurting even more, which I find quite odd since I have essentially done " nothing".

    A little worrisome.

Purple - hope the leg just needs a bit of rest to work out whatever is bothering it.

MLD, 30 minutes core/weights, and Lebeds this morning.  Dawne - I agree about the good feeling when my abs hurt from a workout.  I feel like I've really accomplished something when that happens.

NatsFan, what a great start to the day! Purple, time to give the leg some tincture of time?

Yesterday I did not report in, so here it is: 5.6 miles walking, just city walking and no jogging or particularly speedy pace. Did Lebed-type stretches without the video.  Today my plan is to get four or five miles in this morning and do the Lebed opening sometime tonight. Have a great day, everyone!

Carol, You really are squeezing in the exercise before surgery. Let us know asap how it's going.

Cindyl 22,000 steps! Wowzers!Surprised How long does that take to do? That is amazing, I only have ever done 12,000(just the other week) I find it difficult to get in 10,000.Cry

Purple, Dang that knee anyway! I wonder what you did to it?

Well I did 5000 while supper was cooking. Figure about 40 minutes. Then 6000 after supper, about 45 minutes. Started the last 11,000 after an hour break. Only planned to do 5000 or so, but I go lost and spent a bunch of time wandering around the island.  That was about an hour and 1/2.  I've never walked that far before, and I wouldn't in real life, I'd be worried I wouldn't be able to get back home. Cindy, Which WII program are you talking about? I have a WII fitness disc and a sport disc but I don't have anything like what you are describing. Sounds neat and I would like to check it out.

Trying again... I missed last week at the fabric store - HAVE to work today to pay for my "insurance".. hole is looking better but still open... Prayers that I survive the day would be welcome.. They might just put me at the register so I won't be moving so much... I hate register though Tongue Out.. I'd rather stock threads - they are light... so I will get some exercise today... then will be back to resting for another week.

GMA, be careful, and at least baby yourself when you get home.  Gee, stocking thread sounds good to me!  I have a Bernina embroidery machine and a growing stash of threads!

I'm stocking the overstock so there is alot of bending into the drawer, getting the threads and then stocking them... worried a little about the bending over part - that is when I tend to leak.. LOL ...double gauze packed in my sports bra I guess - I'm allergic to adhesives so I use the "polymem" stuff over the actual sterile gauze that goes over the hole - it keeps it in one place without the adhesive...

Gma - I feel your pain in dealing with this.  I had an abscess along the breast incision that was open for almost 2 months - I had to pack it off twice a day to keep it open so it would heal from the inside out.  I ended up with horribly raw skin from the adhesive tape, and like you just ended up stuffing gauze into my sports bra.  I found the more I moved my upper body the more I leaked, and just had to ratchet my activities back.  Maybe you can do squats rather than bend over - double bonus - less leaking and you'll be building up your leg muscles!  Cool

PT dreamers - It's called Walk it Out.  It's simple and fun.  You walk around your island building things.  The more you walk, the more stuff you can build.
