teesa2you, yes they can become malignant, active.  But biopsied cysts can be really touchy too.   Am glad you are going in.

Vicki, there is also the Navarro urine test to reveal cancer w/o invasive testing.  Coupled w BAI, AMAS, thermography, it comes up pretty much telling you what is happening even though none are accepted by ins or conventional MDs.  I liked the accuracy of PET CT buthate the rads level.

Everyone, glad to see the thread remains in circulation while I am back to work and attempting to balance everything.

Please bump if you read but don't want to comment.  Thank you!

madbluebird, thanks for your reply. I am confused. I did not get the cyst biopsied, I had 2 other areas biopsied, but what did you mean by "touchy"? does that mean that it could have been read wrong? Or they did not get enough of it in the sample? I don't understand why they just didn't suck up the whole area, it was only 2 cm big and 1 cm big. There is a lot I don't understand. I am thinking if it would sit there and cause me pain in the future why wouldnt they just get rid of it the first time.

For those of you who had a lump and pain. Did it hurt all the time or just when you laid on your stomach or bent over ect.?

crystal, since one of mine is located between where my arm and breast meet. I get pressure there whenever I cross my arms or reach or type. For the most part it does not hurt. Only sometimes.

My breast feel mainly sore on the sides of my breast. I have appointment for breast ultra sound and mammogram. I am young 24 years old but then again my friend is 27 and she is currently going through her bc battle.

let us know how it all comes out, it could be many things so try not to let your imagination run wild

    hi,

i am having pain in my left breast. before the pain was rare. but for the past one week, am experiencing it daily. sometimes its very light pain. on the third day of my periods it was very severe and i had pain for nearly 3 to 4 hrs. i am having pain in shoulders also. sometimes its paining in my right breast too. i am not having pain continuously. i don't find any lumps in my breast. i am confused whether it is symptom of breast cancer or some hormonal changes. i am very much afraid because my mother had suffered from breast cancer. please help me.

well, call your doc and set up a chattie visit and ask if you should get a mamo to find out what it is.

more than likely it is hormonal changes but I never hesitate to bug the pants off of my docs with questions

good luck, now stay very busy doing fun things between now and the time you call the docs

Well, the good news is that breast pain usually is not cancer.  But you must get it checked out.  I know the fear is great, but please do so.  I had pain and let it go for 1.5 years as everyone said pain is not breast cancer!  I was Stage 3 before other symptoms manifested.

So it probably is nothing...probably hormonal, but get a mammo, ultrasound or whatever to put your mind at ease!

I suggest that you contact your primary care physician or other health professional first thing Monday Morning.  They can check things out for you, and hopefully put your mind at ease.

Keep us updated with what you find out.  You are now with a group of FRIENDS who care about you... most of us have been there done that or are going through the loops now.

    Keep your chin up..Vickie

I used to get very sharp shooting  pains on the side of my left breast. My right breast on the other hand, sometimes felt very itchy, like something in my bra was causing it.  Anyway as it turned out there was nothing wrong with  my left breast, just a small b9 cyst,   but my right breast had extensive DCIS and an IDC of 1.2 cm.

A double mastectomy took care of everything.

I had a screening mammo and the same day was called back to come in next day for dx mammo and ultrasound.  Had the same issue last year, was told it was "fibroglandular tissue" and that I had dense breast tissue, etc.  But the mammos both showed a 2.2 cm mass in right breast at the 11 o'clock position.  I knew it was there since about March of this year, because I could feel it when lying on my right side.  Also, shooting, burning pain in that area and under arms, and on upper back near shoulder blades.   The radiology doc was very dismssive, saying only that "sometimes these things look different on different views, but probably nothing to worry about.  She spent about 90 seconds in the room with me, and I was too shocked to react immediately.  Made an appointment with my GYN to discuss, she referred me immediately to a breast specialist.  BS did another ultrasound and 3-d mammo, and said that the mass could not be needle biopsied, but needs to come out.  I've been having night sweats for months now, but chalked up to per-menopausal stuff, since I'm 47.  Also extreme fatigue, way beyond normal.  Surgery is next week...I feel so angry that the radiology doc showed so little care.  Has anyone else had this type of experience?  Also, it is worth noting that my BS and another prominent one in town will not refer patients of theirs to this particular radiology facility, as they both feel the care is substandard.

Glendainabq I hate when Dr's do this to ANYONE let alone us women!  I feel if something is seen it should be investigated!  My opinion!  Even if felt & not seen!  My opinion!  I am glad your BS is pro-active & not dismissive like that radiology facility was.  I am glad you pursued this!  Please keep us posted as to how your biopsy/surgery goes.  Lots of good info here.

All the bumps of this topic are appreciated.  Seems I have to keep apologizing for not being present of late.  Before I started back to work was on bco everyday, often.  Now can go weeks with no time to stop in, or I only get to one of my nine threads I love.  Three of those I started so am committed to, this is one of them.

Teesa - by touchy, I meant still painful even after weeks passing since the biopsy.

I didn't have a biopsy when the mass was first discovered either.  And I get your point, why ca't they don't they just suck it out.  I was in pain, it was in there, it was possibly cancer (knew it was, knew it, and all the techs and docs were upset or crying, so that helped me know).  So just get it out.  That is what I did.  I said, no biopsy, just take it out and see what it is.  But mine was undoubtedly cancer, there were the crab arms coming off of it and all the blood vessels were very prominent, it was a live, feeding mass, radiologist said 80 - 90% of the sides had blood vessels.  So I had them take it our and biopsy it at same time, no biopsy inside me then.

Hope that answers your question.  Sorry it took so long, Teesa.

Glad to see everyone supporting one another, just what bco is all about.  Wanted to share about ultrasound for younger women w masses......

    Ultrasound better for some women

Wednesday, October 24, 2012. For women ages 30-39 with symptoms of possible breast cancer, ultrasound is a superior diagnostic tool to mammography, U.S. researchers say.

Dr. Constance Lehman, director of radiology at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and professor and vice chair of radiology at the University of Washington, said the use of ultrasound in women ages 30-39 who have overt breast symptoms -- palpable lumps, localized pain and tissue thickening -- is common practice in Europe, where guidelines typically recommend ultrasound as the primary diagnostic imaging tool.

The risk for malignancy among women in this age group is small, but real, at about 1.9 percent, Lehman said.

I actually went to an appointment today with an Oncologist and he did dispell this myth to me. He was very adamant that about 50% of women have moderate to severe pain with BC.

I have had a lump at 11 oclock in my right breast for 3 years now. In 2010 a mammo and US were done. I was sent to a BC specialist and she told me it was a cyst and not to worry. My breast has been so painful it hurts to walk because my arm bumps the side. Finally, I went to the GYN and told her I want it out that ots interferrring with my daily life. She sent me for a baseline Mammo and US for the breast surgeon who she was going to refer me to and have it removed. The radiology report came back that not only do I have the suspicious lump at 11 oclock but another one at 9 oclock that may be a lymph node. Was scheduled for a biopsy and went to see a gerneral surgeon for the consulatation. He informed me he was unable to do the biopsy because my breast were so dense and sent me to an Oncologist. (BTW, mother was dx with Bilateral BC left breast had mass that was Stage I right breast had 1 lump that was Stage II and another that was stage 0) While I waited for the appointment today with the Oncologist I went ahead and called the major cancer center in our capitol and made an appointment for a biopsy through them. I went to the Oncologist today and I am so glad I did. He was a wonderful doctor. Sometimes people worry more when the doctors tell you the plain truth (that it very well could be cancer and that your risk level is very high due to my mother situation and Brac testing) but I feel more at ease knowing the truth.

I have a biopsy scheduled for this Friday and according to the doctors I should find out my results that day. I am more worried about what comes WITH the dx of BC than I am of the actual disease, if that make any sense. I feel something is wrong but keep telling myself I am over-reacting. I am so glad I went to that doctor today and I will have to tell him when I go back how many women I have seen on here that have had BC accompanied by pain and tell him he is a breath of fresh air to the cancer community.

now, stay cool and keep busy.....my suggestion is to be busy with stuff for you....I think I see you need a pedicure....really it helps to keep you on line

best of luck and do let us all know how you are

    Sher,

I would encourage you to contact your Dr. asap.  That clear sticky fluid is probably serum, in my non-professional mind, I think it is probably the same fluid that creates a seroma.  At any rate, I would have a doctor check it out...

Hope I'm not too late for this to be seen. Unfortunately I do not get back on my husband's insurance for another month so I can't get seen yet. I'm not sure if it is still true or not that if your grandmother on your paternal side had bc, you had a higher risk or not. Here is briefly what I have seen. My left breast has always been a little larger and also is the one with a stupid skin tag on it. I thought it was larger because of bf'ing my kids. They always favored that side. I have found just from feeling around a lump (I think) on the top part of the areola. It's hard and well... I know we can have cysts and stuff but it just feels different. I also feel this huge ridge in my breast mass underneath. Maybe that's normal, I have no clue. But... I haven't been too concerned with the lump because I'm no lump expert. I think it's a lump... it's hard and you can't squish it really. In the past month or so, I have been extremely fatigued. I did come down with the flu but this was well before and now after. I'm not talking a little tired. I'm talking about like when you are 39 weeks pregnant tired and then some. Even first thing in the morning. It's all throughout the day. Then this stinging has started. It's by my nipple but hard to pin point it exactly. It is also a bit sensitive to the touch but not always... sometimes it just stings without being touched. The first time I noticed it was when I woke up in the morning. I thought maybe I slept on it weird. The only way I can describe it is like a bee sting/someone biting you/teeny tiny pierce. Like someone is piercing me. It comes and goes but it's starting to be almost all the time. It wakes me up out of sleep. Someone said something about not having pain until Stage IV... I guess my concern is.. how rapid does this take over you since I need to wait until January to even be seen? I know it could be nothing. I don't want to be overly worried about nothing yet I don't want to be putting off something that could be really dire time wise. Don't know what to do. :-(

    Just jen

I hope that you will see a Dr. as soon as you are on your husbands insurance, if not sooner.  I know how awful it is to have to wait to find out what is going on.  It is a little over a year since I was diagnosed and had surgery, but I well remember how nerve wracking the waiting was, also the mental stress of it.

Please feel free to come here anytime, just read, vent or what ever you feel you need to do.  We are here to support you through your venture.  We all hope the best for you, and understand your mental turmoil.

Please, try to have a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!!!!
