That's is such good news Shazza, I'm so happy for you. Looks like we are in for some more crap weather. Take care everyone, have a lovely weekend, Donna xxx

That's wonderful news Shazza. I'm glad it's better than IV taxol. Less fatigue is fantastic too
I'm fighting off a cold, can't wait till I feel less fatigued too.
Have a great weekend everyone - forecast is not great so it might be an enforced quiet, restful one

Well I am back. I had a great time but I must admit my stamina isn't what it could be. I am exhausted! Staying in the CBD was great but so so many people during the day. We were about a 5 minute walk from Darling Harbour. The vivid light show was really good, we did a 2 hour cruise around the harbour to see the light shows, which were amazing.
I hope everyone is well. Great news Shazza.

Hi Guys, Welcome home Nikki glad you had a good time but it sounds like you now need a rest haha! You certainly haven't missed anything here, the weather has been so crappy I had to pick up my daughter yesterday from a rural property and my poor little car nearly didn't it make it through the big puddles. I've had the same washing on the line for nearly 2 weeks now, it's growing mould on it. Hope everyone is doing well. I have an interview with an Agency today after work for two jobs, one in Takanini and one in Manukau. Feelng nervous. Take care, Donna xxx

Hi everyone, glad you had a good time Nikki. Good luck with job interviews Donna. I'm also looking for work, have been doing some freelance work but not getting enough. All this rain is getting to be a pain, although I'm enjoying the cooler temperatures. I have a surveillance MRI coming up in a few weeks, does anyone have any tips for making it easier, I found my first one really hard, mainly because of the incredibly loud noise of the machine. I don't want to be sedated as I prefer to drive myself.

Hi
Glad you had a good time in Sydney Nikki.
I hope the interviews go well Donna! Are the jobs any closer to home? I hope you get the one you like best.
I hated the noise of the MRI I had (5 years ago) it was on the old clunky one at Auckland hospital, the one at north shore is newer I think..Can you wear ear plugs- or take your own earphones, the ones they have don't stay on properly & you can still hear it really loud. You could ring & see if you're allowed your own.
I'm over the worst of my cold I think. Still have a sore throat, but at least I'm blowing my nose less often. Gee thanks hubby, it was really fun, not.
Take care

I had sedation for my two MRI's - and I still hated every sodding minute. A necessary evil I think. I had mine at Ascot and the machine was newish, still made a revolting noise. I am hoping that since I don't have bibbets anymore that I won't need to have another one anytime soon. I am not sure about using your own headphones - I think they pump music through theirs so that they can talk to you. You woul think that will all the advancement in technology that they could sort the noise out.
Sorry to hear that you've had a cold KT - still at least you're not being knocked down by chemo as well.
Good luck Donna - hopefully you will get something closer to home. Whenever I get stuck in rush hour traffic, I thank my lucky stars that I work at home.
I had a bit of bleeding down below while I was away - I already have been referred to Gynae to have my ovaries out, so I probably will wait to talk about it when I have my appt some time in the next 6 weeks. Not quite sure what to make of that at all.

Hi guys, I found the MRI machine at Ascot so nice I, actually fell asleep. The one at Auckland Hospital though, that was another story, didn't like that one much. It's a bit like comparing a rolls royce to a tractor haha! There is a new one at Middlemore in a separate place not attached to the Hospital but just before it, that one was pretty flash. From memory Optimist you have insurance don't you, so you will probably get a flash one - hopefully anyway! It's so freezing today, almost makes my hot flushes bearable. Sorry to hear about the bleeding Nikki, at least they keep a close eye on us BC girls. Since I had my polyp removed mine has stopped, but it will probably grow back. I think it's quite common for those of us on Tamoxifen, but not sure about that drug that you are on? My interview at the Agency went well last night. I'm pretty sure it will just be a matter of time and the right job will come along. Wish I could win lotto and retire!!! Take care everyone xxx

I have my lotto ticket for this week Donna, along with an Orthopedic appointment for next Wednesday. I was told that the referral time was 4 months, but maybe they looked at my rap sheet and decided that I should be bumped up. Still waiting for the Gynae appointment though.
I hope that you're getting over your cold KT.
Looks like a reasonable weekend weather wise. I have my high dependency niece arriving tonight for a couple of days. Sigh, Sydney seems like so long ago ......

Hi everyone. Hasn't the weather been spectacular. Bit cold this morning though, had to scrape the ice off my windscreen (all those from down South will be rolling their eyes at this poofter Aucklander no doubt haha). I have an interview for a job in Manukau on Tuesday. Nervous, keep your fingers crossed for me. Hope everyone is feeling well and enjoys the long weekend. Good luck with your lotto ticket Nikki and your neice. Donna xxx

Good luck Donna

This weather sure is fantastic after all the rain & grey skies
I don't mind cold starts so long as the day is blue skies!
I'm glad you have an appt Nikki. Know what you mean about holidays- not long until they're a distant memory. Good to have nice memories tho
Hope your interview goes well Donna. Will be thinking of you.
My cold is at the tail end, getting there. I hope to discover new energy once I get rid of it.
I hope everyone has a relaxing long weekend.

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well and managing to stay warm. Well I had my interview and I have gotten into the final 3, really nervous now. If I get this job I won't have to sit in the parking lot that is the Southern Motorway haha! Will have another interview in a couple of weeks with the General Manager from Australia so keep everything crossed for me. I have to drive into Auckland University Medical School tonight for my Mediterranean Diet meeting. Gawd I hope they don't try to weigh me again because I know it won't be good news. Eating healthy doesn't equate to weight falling off that's for sure. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Well done Donna I hope the next interview goes really well too!
I've been reading lots of good stuff about the med diet- really good for you. I need to make more of an effort. I'm still feeling a bit blah, it might help.
It's really windy up here now. Not looking forward to work tomorrow if it's like this! I hope the mail (& me) doesn't blow away....
Take care all x

Thanks everyone for advice about MRIs. Not looking forward to it, in a couple of weeks. Then the waiting for results begins - yuk. Best of luck Donna for your interview, a long commute is awful. Hope your gynae appt goes well Nikki.

Ooh yes- it was your ortho appt today, wasn't it Nikki. I hope it went well.
Waiting for results is a pain optimist so is waiting for scans etc, hope the time goes fast for you.

I haven't heard from gynae yet - although I have had a letter confirming that I would be seen within 8 weeks and that was 4 weeks ago, so anytime soon I suppose.
The orthopedic appointment was a disaster. I have grade 3 (moderate) osteoarthritis in both feet and my right knee (previously operated on in 2011). At 49 I am too young to have my knee replaced and they wouldn't do it on grade 3 anyway, only grade 4. They will review it in a year. In the meantime he bluntly suggested that if I lose some weight then my joints would cope better, also he wants me to take voltaren and codeine for the pain (umm I don't think so, especially with all the other crap that goes into my body). I suggested cortisone injections and he said that I would need them every two months or so and couldn't promise that they would work. Anyway onward and upward. I dream't last night about harvesting genetically modified lettuce leaves in Hastings and flying them up to Auckland in click clack containers to use instead of bread. Weird huh?
I am just getting over the flu. It turned up with Ben on Saturday and hasn't left. The only one left standing is my hubby, and I really think that he will come down with it soon. it's a nasty one, that's for sure.
I've got everything crossed for you Donna! Hope that the MRI goes well when you have it Optimist. Hopefully everyone else is good

Haha Nikki, I'm laughing about you flying genetically modified lettuce up to Auckland - where on earth did that come from? I'm sorry to hear about your Osteoarthritis, especially as you are so young. And it sounds like they can't really help you. Maybe the dream about lettuce was actually medicinal marijuana. I tell you if I get sick again, it's the first thing I am going to try!!!

I have always had a vivid imagination lol. How did your meeting go last night Donna?

Hi Nikki, it was good thanks. It's been four months now since I started this diet, I'm sure I haven't lost any weight, in fact I feel like I have put weight on. But I am definitely eating healthier, just need to concentrate on smaller portions. Lots of other good diet advice too. I have met some really nice ladies as well. In August they do our bloods and weigh us etc. then again six months after that. So it will be interesting. I have been a little bit naughty though. But the lady who is running it says it's okay to have a cheat now and then! There is this ginger crunch in a cafe down the road, and I just can't stay away from it I have lost 4 kilos since I gave up sugar though (despite the ginger crunch) but that was before the diet. Take care everyone, sounds like there is some crappy weather coming.

Hi all. Been away from BCO for a while, just busy at work and a bit burned out. Finally getting almost caught up. Nik - see if you can get them to prescribe an arthritis med for you. I have similar issues; my left knee is bone on bone, have osteoarthritis in hands, feet, elbows, and shoulders. There's a funded one; it didn't work that well for me and upset my tummy so they switched me to Arcoxia (sp?). It's not funded, is expensive, but oh does it help. I ran out for a few days and what a huge difference.
Saw the registrar at the hospital today; MO is beyond busy. Waiting for them to call with tumour marker results, but everything else seems ok and no scans at this time. So we'll see how the TMs look.
Good luck with the interview/new job, Donna!
Sending hugs,
Terre

Nice to see you again Terre. I hope the tms come back ok.
Bummer about the arthritis Nikki- I hope you can find something that relieves the pain.
Mmm I love ginger crunch! I used to make it, but then I'd eat way too much. Haven't had it ages. Glad it's going well Donna.
Sure is a yucky day- not as bad as they've had over in Aus tho. I didn't get blown away on the mail run - but it was nice to finish & get out of the weather
Have a good afternoon girls

Thanks KT. Still stable; tumour markers have moved from 22 to 24, but they're not concerned, so no scans and next doc visit is in 6 months.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It was a nice surprise to find a NZ connection It's the start of my journey having been diagnosed last month and 12 days after op.
Keeping warm in the chilly south
0 -
Sorry you have had to find your way here Helen, but I am glad you found our little kiwi group.
Those weeks after the op and before treatment starts are really tough but you do get through them, there really isn't much choice. Once treatment starts then things do settle down into a routine of sorts which I found so much easier from an anxiety point of view.
Where down south are you living?
0 -
Hi there I'm from invercargill so can't get much further south. That's all I want is to get into some kind of routine and to at least look as if I'm going forward.
The waiting has been so difficult to even get this far. Went private for op but am with the public system for everything else. The private system involves Dunedin so am saving that for radiotherapy.
Anyway we have little markers to look forward to - the long tights off tomorrow. I'm down to 40 mls a day in drainage so that will soon go.
I'm supposed to be losing weight but food keeps arriving, never knew I knew so many good people.
I see you have been busy since 2014. Was your right mast. A precautionary op?
Have a great day

Hi Helen, glad you found this website and group. Great to read that you have a good support system with friends bringing food for you. Once the drains come out that is a great relief. Best wishes, Michelle.

Welcome to the group, Helen!

Hi Helen, welcome but I'm sorry you had to join us. Nice group of ladies in here. Hopefully you will start feeling a bit better soon. Donna xxx

Hi everyone
Welcome Helen, nice to meet you. I wish you a speedy recovery from surgery. I hope radiation & chemo go well. I'm glad you're being looked after too
We're off to see the 'colour consultant' this afternoon (for the house) & just got an email from the kitchen people that they'd like to see us too! The plans haven't even been thru council yet & no earth has been moved- so it all feels a little early... Still, could be exciting if I can get rid of my headache
Have a good afternoon all x
