    Hi Kruise,

I have heard of Jane, but I'm American, so probably no surprise there. :)

I have a friend who always sends me a list of good reads in her Christmas letter; I'll pass along her suggestions. One of my friends loves Goodreads and gets her reading suggestions there: https://www.goodreads.com/choiceawards/best-books-...

I do a lot of reading, especially on the train, but I tend to read really cheap Kindle murder mysteries. Have you read Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books? If not, I'd recommend starting with Hot Six...One through five are funny, but Six will get you hooked and make you laugh out loud.

Wishing everyone a very happy holiday.

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well and not too stressed out by Christmas. I don't know if any of you have read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon but they are my favourite books, especially the first one Voyager also called Cross Stitch. If you love history with a bit of romance thrown in you would really like this series. They have just made a series out of it. I'm over Christmas already, so busy at work it's just not funny but I suppose working in the freight industry at Christmas it is to be expected. I never got the results of my MRI so I am taking that as good news. My underarm is still sore but I am thinking it's just the after effects of radiotherapy. Can't wait for this year to be over, it's been the worst year of my life :( This time last year I knew I had breast cancer but couldn't tell a living soul because I didn't want to ruin everyones Christmas. It's my 54th birthday on 1st January and I don't really drink but think I might get drunk this New Years, don't know why but I just feel like it.

I don't think I've ever seen anything so cute. You are so lucky - please post more pictures when you can - she is adorable :)

    Gorgeous, Midnight :)

If you're into detective type stuff Henning Mankells 'Wallander' books are good (set in Sweden) and Anne Cleeves 'Vera' & "Shetland' books are good too.

If you're after something lighter Jojo Moyes writes a good story- not quite chic lit, but heading there. There are so many authors I enjoy but that's a start :)

I did a wee bit of gardening today- planted a kowhai & weeded for about an hour & I'm knackered! Pathetic, I'm so tired of being tired...feels like I'm moving thru treacle just walking or doing the smallest thing :(

I hope your underarm feels better soon Fizzdon, & I hope that the upcoming birthday is more joyous than last years.

    Have a good day all

Kiwi1966, Thanks for the chockies :)

They arrived today, yum. Now to exercise some self-control & not eat them all in one go!

Wow its hot today- nice to see the sun. Shame about the humidity, but you can't have it all your own way

    Hi all

Hope all are well. Today is eight years from the day I was diagnosed. I am feeling very glad but also very reflective about what has passed. I have lost so many friends over the years, some because they could not cope with cancer and others from this awful disease.

I am just so grateful that I have made so many good friends.

    Big hugs

I hope everyone has a very Happy Christmas. We're taking it easy this year, and going to my husbands family for the day. My family are all in Wellington and a trip down there is out of the question at the moment, as I am still waiting for the dye study appointment for my portacath, which is supposed to be urgent.

Early start to Christmas Eve this morning. My daughter is starting work at 5.00am. She works a few hours a week at Eve's Pantry in Botany and today is the day the cake orders are manic. She is starting a management diploma course on 12 Jan which runs for 2 years. Last Wednesday we got the news that she has won a $5000 scholarship towards her fees. I am really proud of her.

Had my last FEC a week ago, and I have to say that it has been doable. I have had a couple of afternoons off work with headaches but other than that I have been feeling pretty good, and haven't ended up needing any medical help since round 1. Changing to Taxotere for the next 3. Not sure what issues that will bring, but each one is closer to the end. All in all I am doing ok mentally as well. I think keeping busy and carrying on with everything as helped me cope. I still get a bit freaked out, but I have accepted that I will never be able to turn my back on BC and somehow we have to "live" together and get on with life.

Thank you all for your encouragement since I joined here. You have helped keep me sane.

    Nikki

Well done Kiwi, finishing FEC. I hope T is good to you & doable :) Good luck with the portacath- hope it gets done soon. & well done, Kiwi's daughter!

Thanks for the good wishes Shazza. I'm off for a blood test then the scan at 12.

Alyson, 8 years out :) here's to many more.

I've got a little bit of last minute shopping & cleaning to do because my family & DH's dad are coming over tomorrow. Potluck food which makes it easier ;)

    Have a lovely day tomorrow!

Hi everyone. Phew finished work earlier than expected today and had time to do some shopping and get the groceries, it is manic out there. I would like to say a big thank you to all of you for your support and words of wisdom. I don't have a partner anymore and don't really have anyone to share my concerns with. My darling mum is elderly and was with me when I got my diagnoses, two days later she had a stroke. My kids are 20 and 21 and I hate worrying them, especially since my daughter has just been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. So you ladies are it and I know I am really lucky that I'm only grade two, stage two and a lot of you are worse off.But reading about what everyone else goes through really does help, it's a slow realisation that this cancer thing will be with me forever. Hopefully that will be a long time. Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day with family and loved ones. Merry Christmas to you all. Love Donna xxx

Yay, Fizzdon good to finish early :) Hope you have a great day tomorrow.

Kiwi- I've just realised I'm out of dishwashing liquid- so I'll have to go to the supermarket!! Aargh!

Lucky, Kruise, its grey and showery up here. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow...

My onc just rang with my CT results already! He says stable or improved! so that's really good :)

I guess he didn't want me worrying over Christmas...

Have a good one all xx

What awesome news KT. A great Xmas present. I was meant to have a scan before my last clinic appointment but the request got lost n the system so now it's on the 5th of Jan. I will have been off treatment for 5 weeks by then so they thought there maybe some progression. Back to chemo on the 12th. I'm so enjoying the break.

Everyone have a great Xmas. I'm off to Tauranga tomorrow to have Xmas dinner with my oldest friend and her family. Can't wait.

I know I've eaten too much, but it was lovely to have the family all together.

On a sadder note I see Moiralf has passed :( but it looks like her family was with her, so that's good.

    Take care all

Glad news about the CT results KT. A great Christmas pressie.

Hope you had a good trip to Tauranga Shazza - so nice to get out of Auckland for a while.

Donna, I hope that you had a great Christmas. When you get back to work, send me a PM and I'll meet you for lunch at Botany sometime.

Karen, your new profile pic looks fabulous. Loving the hair.

Christmas Day was spent with my husbands family - all of mine are in Wellington, and it was just too much to get down there this year. I was tired after it all, but pleased to show the extended family that I was not at deaths door (as some had speculated). Really trying to behave myself with food - the steroids had me eating everything in sight for the first 2 rounds. This round I have wanted lettuce and tomatoes, so I am pleased about that. I don't want to have a shock when I get on the scales at Oncology in a couple of weeks!

I hope everyone had a very Christmas Day. Now it's time to relax!

Good news on the results KT!

My husband ended up in emergency at Wellington Hospital Monday night. Came home yesterday. He developed an infection in his leg. Other than being grumpy, he's fine. He mostly slept yesterday so we postponed our dinner with friends until today. It was pretty low key, but nice.

    Here's to 2015!

Merry Christmas all. I'm sitting here writing from Waiheke Island. It's the hottest part of the day so we are hiding inside from the sun! I hope you're all enjoying your holidays.

    Great scan news KT!

    Keep enjoying feeling well Shazza!

Well done finishing FEC Kiwi. You are doing great and will be done before you know it.

Very sad news re Moira :(

Bad news about my port yesterday. I pushed and pushed and got an urgent appointment with Radiology at Auckland (I'd been waiting to hear from them since 17 Dec). After doing various tests they have decided that the port has failed and needs to be replaced before my next round (7 Jan). Problem is that it was put in at Middlemore, and Auckland Hospital won't touch it - now I have to wait for them to sort it out between them or no chemo next week. This shared care across 2 DHB's just aint working for me at the mo.

Kiwi what a bugger. Port problems are no good and shared care sounds like a pain. Hope it gets sorted soon

I've been enjoying my break from treatment and Cancer. Had a lovely time in Tauranga over Xmas. Bit of a bummer going back to work yesterday especially as the weather is so nice.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a wonderful New Years

Oh no, Kiwi1966. Can you have next weeks chemo thru IV? (I never had a port) I hope they can get a new one in soon. Not much fun to go thru again I guess...

Shazza- glad you're enjoying your chemo break. It's great to get away for a change :) Reality bites tho! Back to work & the holiday fades away.

Waiheke sounds nice Kiwimum :) We've been offered a bach over there at the end of January for half a week. I hope it works out ok with DH's work, mines flexible thank goodness. (Good to job share :) )

I'm on my way back from ak airport, just picked up DH's dad who's had a wee holiday & is back now.

Onc appt tomorrow to get CT results in detail & get the next cycle of meds.

    Have a good day all

Hope tomorrow's appointment goes well KT, you shouldn't have any parking problems, we were there yesterday and couldn't believe how quiet it was.

Karen Spells rang this afternoon about my port. Since they don't have a non-urgent surgery list at the moment (because of the holidays) they've decided to use my veins for next weeks chemo, and replace the port for rounds 5 & 6. She said that because I was having taxotere that they should be alright. I am very hard to bleed now, just beacause my veins are crap, but that's their problem.

Lots of good luck and best wishes for the New Year. I'll be tucked up in bed with a book by 9.00pm no doubt!

Hi. I had my appt today- still lots of people about.

I have to have a bone scan in the next month as the markers are still going up, but otherwise it's carry on as per usual. A long wait to get meds at the pharmacy.

Went for a lovely walk at Wenderholm on the way home. At least the traffic wasn't backed up today :)

*~* Happy New Year*~* for tomorrow (or tonight) Hope everyone has a terrific year next year!!!
