Thanks KT. This is a nasty bug and apparently making the rounds as one of the nurses at the vet's office had it too. I feel almost healthy today; only a little dizzy and my voice is almost back. This is just ridiculous - I don't get sick like this!
I'll put up some shots of the fosters here if the group is interested. They are really funny. I have been very careful not to name them.
Have fun with your friends today, KT!

Hi Maree welcome to our little group. Good luck for your first chemo tomorrow.
I've just got back from chemo and need to get ready for work. It's so wet out there though I'd rather be snuggled up in bed with the cat.
Clinic was fine yesterday. I was in for all of 5 minutes so a bit of a waste of time really. I saw young Aaron which is a change from young Micheal. Apparently at my next clinic in 6 weeks time I will see the elusive Rubén for the first time in 10 months.
Hope you get rid of your bug soon Terre it sounds awful. Have fun catching up with friends KT. Everyone else have a good day. Try and stay dry.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and nice to meet you all
kt1966 - I am on 3x Fluorouracil, Epirubicin, Cyclophosphamide ( FEC 100) and then 3x Docetaxel Tank you for the advice about the anti-nausea stuff.
Woodyhollow - Good luck with the mammogram next week.
kiwicatmom - Its a bummer you are feeling so crook...hope you feel better soon.
nik966 - I am doing 3x FEC-100 first and 3x Docetaxel so it looks like we are having a pretty similar treatment...I will take your advice and treat myself.
I have my pre chemo meeting this morning so will find a lot more out I guess. catch you all soon Maree x

Hi again Maree. Hope the prechemo meeting went well. Great that Nikki has had the same chemo as you she'll be a handy resource. All the best for tomorrow.
Shazza, I've had Aaron & Michael a few times too (weird becos my son is Aaron Michael!). Haven't seen Reuben for a while either. Had a nice girl last time, can't remember her name....chemo brain. Hope your day goes well after chemo.
My catch up with the girls was good, but too wet for for a walk so just had coffee

Hi Maree,
It's pretty yuk here in Auckland. Nelson is my home town - I grew up in Tahunanui. All the best for chemo and don't be too hard on yourself. Basically take it easy and don't try to be superwoman.Big big hugs to all.

kt1966 - the pre chemo talk went really well...I learnt that tea and coffee do go towards your fluid intake...I also learnt a lot of other stuff to...lol
Alyson - Nice to meet another Nelsonion (not sure on spelling)...We are finished with the bad weather here now... it has been a nice sunny day since about 10am...I will take it easy and try to balance things out. take care Maree x

Hi Maree, welcome although I'm sorry about the circumstances. You will find everyone in here so lovely and knowledgeable, makes you feel like you are not alone on your journey and everyone understands. Hi Alyson - I hope you are doing a bit better now. Hope everyone else is good too. I do so love reading all your posts and just knowing everyone is okay. Really revolting day in Auckland today. Would much rather be at come curled up on the couch with a good book instead of at work with smelly trucks and smelly truck drivers haha!. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Maree. I hope it goes well tomorrow ...... it will be fine. The first one was my worst because I didn't know what was going to happen and it took longer than the subsequent ones. After that the actual infusion days were are breeze. I'll be thinking of you. Nikki

Nik1966 - you were so right...it was not a big deal...it was so busy up there you don't really get a lot of down time...I am feeling quiet good at the moment but I do understand it may be tomorrow when things might not be so great.
fizzdon-52 nice to meet you :-) I am really enjoying this group...nice friendly people with loads of good advice
Take care Maree xx

Foster kittens. How many do you see?
0 -
Wow Terre! There's a few kittens there! (is it 6 or can I see 7!)
Fun
0 -
It's six. The one ginger is a bit swamped by the other. There's two gingers, a torti, a black one, a tabby, and a fluffy tabby with with mittens. Momcat is a dark torti. They are getting to the point where they're fun because they're starting to play and be really goofy. I have a little kitty tower and one tried to get down, didn't quite do it right, and ended up bum first in the food. Hopped up like it was all planned and raced across the room to pounce on another kitten, flinging food all the way!
Anyone who thinks cats are clean animals hasn't had kittens. They are an absolute joy though and I will miss them when they go.

Spandau Ballet were so cool! We never get any decent bands in the South Island! Feeling for you Nikki, 2 weeks post rads made me feel worse than 1/2 way through chemo. It does all of a sudden get better though? Anyone have any thoughts about:

Did she get the circulating tumor marker test done outside of NZ? The alternative treatments are interesting?
Hi Maree from Nelson. I'm in Blenheim so with the same NMDHB You are probably seeing Kate or Steve, the Oncology docs I've never met Kate - I always got Steve.... hope they are treating you well?

Only 5 more to go now Maree!

Jo, Spandau were really good. They sounded exactly the same as they did 30 years ago - but they sure didn't look the same. Mind you neither do I! lol. Hubby and I went to the Naked Magicians last night (a comedy festival show), with some friends last night. That was very funny, although not for the faint hearted!
Happy Thursday everyone

hi everyone - absolutely revolting weather in Welly today. Rain, rain and more rain.
Maree - a belated welcome to the Group from me and I still hope you are feeling ok after your first chemo.
Nikki - glad you are on the mend and pleased you are getting out and having some fun too. I saw those naked magician guys on Seven Sharp the other night.
Terre - the kittens are so cute! You must be changing the litter box etc every 5 minutes though so know what you mean about the messy part
Big Hi and wave to everyone else....kt, Donna, Woody, Shazza, Jo, Alyson, midnight....hope I haven't forgotten anyone.
I am feeling very tired too but it's just because I am studying too hard. I did an ambulance shift last Friday and Monday with classroom time at Palmerston North in the weekend and repeating the same thing again this weekend too, plus the ambulance shifts. No day is ever the same though. Different patients etc.
Shazza count me in for Junk free June! Good if we can all support each other and do it.
Well I had better get cracking for the day.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Love to all

Hi everyone, nice that everyone seems to be doing okay. Good luck with your treatment Maree. Those kittens are gorgeous, I would love the ginger one. I can't get another kitten unless my old cat passes away because she would eat it haha. With regards to the Junk Free June, I really need help because yesterday I had a pie for lunch, followed by a donut (someone at work gave me), then for tea I had hot chips in buttered bread. I am feeling so bad about my diet Have you ladies noticed some BC advertising recommends a diet of vegetables and no junk food or wine. I don't know how it makes you feel but it makes me feel like getting BC is my fault. PS I don't normally eat that much crap, yesterday was a particularly bad day. Just wondered if anyone else feels guilty, like betting BC was their own fault because of diet and lifestyle?

KCM: Just heard on the radio that they are considering evacuating some areas of the Kapiti Coast. Are you OK down there? EDIT: Update on the news seems to indicate its the southern end of the Kapiti Coast. Sounds horrendous :-(

Just saying hi- especially to Jo, Kruise & Twofer- haven't seen you for a while!
Glad everyone's mostly doing well too
Terre, I hope the weathers not too bad for you.
(Fizzdon, I think we all have days when we overindulge in the wrong foods etc. can't blame yourself for cancer, some people smoke, drink to excess, eat wrong & live to a ripe old age! It's a crapshoot!!)
Have a good one all

KT -Things are all good today...eating small amounts more often it seems to be working well for me.
JoTro - Nice to meet you :-) I am under Kate she is great...I have not met Steve yet...
Kruise- thanks for the warm welcome...all going good here.
Nik- I am so pleased to be over that first time and counting down :-) good things come to those that wait.

All so btw: Hi to every one

hey guys. Just got back from spending the morning at A&E with my daughter. She dropped the lid of a cast iron pot on her foot and has fractured her big toe and destroyed the nail. She's in a moon boot now for a few weeks and quite cross about everything.
I'm off to the naked magicians on Saturday with a group from work. I'm looking forward to it.
Fizz I had a georgie pie and chocolate for tea last night so you aren't alone there. That's why I want to do Junk Free June. It's not really about giving everything up, more about trying to rein myself in before things get too out of control. I've put on 6 kgs since starting treatment.
Hope you girls down Wellington way are doing ok. It sounds horrendous down there.

Anything injury relating to toes hurts such a lot. Sympathy to your daughter Shazza (and to you for having to deal with the irritability!).
I've been watching the flooding in Wellington. Looks dreadful. Our office had to close early so that people could start making the slow trip home.
You'll enjoy the Magicians Shazza - I haven't laughed so much in a long time and it felt GOOD! Roll on Junk Free July, so that I don't truly have a BELLY LAUGH!
Glad to hear that you're doing ok Maree. Counting down was the key for me - You will be great! Just a thought if you find you are having trouble with nausea. I used sea sickness bands (woody did too I think), that were wonderful for settling my stomach when it was doing a couple of somersaults. I never actually was sick, not sure if I have a cast iron stomach or it was the bands. It's worth a try.
Nice to see you Kruise, Two and Jo.

I'm in the Hutt Valley- the weather and flooding has been terrible. This is my street today

Been thinking about you Kruise! We're in Kapiti and it's wet as wet can be. We are on top of a sand dune but looks like lakefront property at the moment. Our house is fine and I didn't go to Welly today (thank heaven). I was pretty determined to go to work today, but this flu thing has now settled in my ears and I'm dizzy as. Woke up at 3 and fell down. Staggered down the hall to the loo and back, and shut off the alarm - decided another day home was in order. Sure glad I did stay home or I'd likely be stranded in Wellington for the night.
Stay warm and dry if you can Kruise!
Hugs to all

Wow. I hope the rain stops soon. Has it got close to your house? Saw the pics on the news too. I hope you stay dry & warm.
Ouch Shazza. Your poor daughter!
Maree I'm glad you're going ok re se's etc. keep it up
Terre, posted at the same time as you. I think you should stay home tomorrow too get over your bug properly, and it's not ideal conditions to be out in

Picture from Petone below. I was supposed to have a meeting there tomorrow...it's postponed til Monday.

OMG that flooding looks terrible! Hope you who are affected by it are alright. That cast iron lid on your daughters foor sounds extremely painful Shazza.
Yes I did use seabands and also ginger tablets, trying to cur down on the steriods and that was ereasonably successful.
To cheer you all up..if you look at picture long enough, you will see a brown horse:
