Woody must be freezing with a Reno going on. I've got 2 hotties and a large cat keeping me warm tonight. Anyone would think it was winter Smile

KT enjoy your Look Good Feel Better session tomorrow morning and I hope everything goes well with your port placement in the afternoon.

    Thank you everyone.

Brr it's cold this morning too. I hope you can all keep warm.

    I'm off to LGFB soon.

Reuben rang yesterday, wants me to have pleurodesis next week :( I guess it'll be better in the long run, just not fun at the time.

    Have a good one all!

About to watch the dress rehearsal of La cenerentola. Cinderella. DD is not in this production.

    Very cold her tonight.

That sounds nice Alyson. You're brave going out in the cold.

I'm glad to home after my port insertion. It wasn't too bad, quite doable. Lovely staff at the unit in NSH - makes all the difference.

I've got the fire going. All snuggly inside.

Looks like I'm going in to hospital on Monday for the pleurodesis on Tuesday. May need to stay in a day or two afterwards.

    Keep warm!

Glad you are home safe and sound KT and the port placement went well. Hopefully the pleurodesis will stop that fluid build up in your lungs and keep you comfortable.

Alyson hope you enjoyed the show and didn't get too cold on your way home. Hope everyone else is tucked up warm and cosy.

Hi everyone, brrrrrr it is so cold, I had to scrape the ice off my windscreen at 6:30am before I could start the journey to work and I nearly slipped over on the ice on my deck. KT I'm glad your port placement went okay and good luck for next week, will be thinking of you. Alyson do you have a daughter who is an Opera Singer? if so how fabulous. Hope everyone else is okay. I'm so glad it's Friday. I can't wait for the weekend and a sleep in. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Sure is cold! Icy this morning. Hubby's back from Hamilton & has got the fire going :)

Keep warm you girls! My son left his jacket at school & went off to the bus in short sleeves, brrr, he wouldn't wear his school jersey. What is it with boys!!

I've been reading a bit about pleurodesis and I don't like the sound of it. I want to call Reuben & the cardio thoracic surgeon & tell them I'm not doing it. I can feel that my lung is improving all by itself as I can sleep better with less pain (apart from the port discomfort!)

Don't know what to do really. Maybe I'll call that nurse at ah hosp...

KT talk to Karen Spells about it. Maybe if you are feeling ok they could let you wait a bit and see if Taxol helps. I know it got rid of my pleural effusion.

I am so pleased that your port placement went OK KT. The neck thing is a bit uncomfortable for a day or so, but well worth it.

Ok, it looks like I will go in to hospital next week as my chest is getting a bit painful again. And the shortness of breath is still there. Bummer.

Looks like I start taxol on the 17/6 so will join you on the taxol thread about then Shazza.

Hope you're all having a good weekend, nice to see the sun for a bit :)

Glad the port thing went well, KT. Sorry you're still having lung/chest problems. Sending hugs your way.

Thanks, Terre. I'm resigned to the fact that I need to go in & have pleurodesis done now. Was hoping to avoid it as its so invasive, but such is life.

Hope you're all enjoying the long weekend. Not great weather, I'm tempted to go to the movies. Haven't been for ages :)

Lordy the weather is awful here. I'm snuggled up on the couch with a cat. No plans on moving at all. Had a lovely picnic on Herne Bay Beach yesterday hard to believe it was lovely and sunny. Out last night to see a couple of bands at The Kings Arms. Didn't get home till 1am so exhausted today.

I'm sorry KT that your lung problems are back. Maybe having the procedure won't be too bad and it will bring some permanent relief. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hope everyone is having a great if a little damp long weekend. No work tomorrow. Yay

    hi everyone

Yes Shazzakelly I'm with you for junk free June ....knew it started today! So far so good...lol...but then I'm not out of bed yet :-)

Kt - really feeling for you hun. My partner ended up having pleurodisis after his lung kept collapsing (spontaneous pneumothorax) a couple years ago. They had him on an epidural for a couple days so it wouldn't hurt to breath etc. I know we never want to have these procedures but if it can help and make you feel better it'll be worth it. I met a lady while working on the ambulance the other day who had been diagnosed 3 weeks earlier with lung cancer and had been to hospital twice to have fluid drained in that time - 2 litres taken off both times. She called us because she was SOB again and knew she probably had fluid. She was also scheduled to have pleurodisis. It makes you very tired having to deal with that effort to breath all the time.

Had my daughters school Ball on Friday night - we went too because it was her last year and all that. So here's a couple pics ...my partner Tim and I, and my daughter Gabrielle with her boyfriend Dan ....

Wow, Kruise. You all look gorgeous!!

I bet you had a great time :)

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm really not looking forward to the procedure. It will be good to have it over and done with.

Shazza, well done staying up till 1am! I don't know how you do it. A late night for me is 10:30.... Pathetic :D

I don't know if I can manage junk free June. I like chocolate & licorice too much....might be able to do it apart from that....maybe they don't count as junk.

Enjoy the day off today (mind you I haven't been at work since the 18th!)

Kruise what a cute looking family. My daughter has her ball in a couple of weeks.

KT good luck with the procedure. I think you get an exemption from most of junk free June

10:30 is usually a late night for me too. I was absolutely exhausted yesterday but I had a great time so it was worth it.

    Have a great day everybody

KT, Chocolate is a vegetable, so it is good for you.

Kruise - you look fantastic! And your daughter is beautiful too. What a fun night that would be!

    So is coffee.

    Big hugs KT

  • KiwiCatMom

Agreed Alyson - coffee also comes from beans.

And....Licorice "is a confection flavoured with the extract of the roots of the liquorice plant" - again, a plant-based product, and everyone knows it's good to eat plants.

So you totally get a pass on chocolate, coffee, and licorice because they are not junk food - all derived from plants!

I've done one day of Junk Free June bar a glass of wine (as it's still long weekend and a friend came round) but as wine is made from grapes and grapes are a natural fruit I'm picking that is ok too. So chocolate, liquorice, coffee and wine are exempt. :-)

Man I need to lose weight....seeing all the Ball photos has made me super depressed!

Hope everyone has had a great long weekend. Can you believe its June already!

Kruise if you look at the Junk Free June website they don't mention alcohol at all so I think wine is absolutely fine. We do need some treats.

I've had a day free of junk too but my daughter is taking this all to seriously and keeping me honest.

Are you in hospital yet KT?I hope everything goes well tomorrow and you aren't too uncomfortable

Good luck KT. I will be thinking of you.

Kruise, I thought you looked beautiful in the ball photos.

Junk Free June day one was OK, I managed to stay away from the bad stuff. The boys in the house are less than impressed, my daughter is in to it. Hopefully we can keep it going. I am sure that my weight problems are a result of the hormone treatment and not the amount of CR**P i eat.

Hi everyone, those photo's are lovely Kruise, you looked great and your daughter is lovely:) I don't even let people take photo's of me, it's too depressing as I have put weight on around my middle since starting medication and I hate myself. KT good luck today, I will be thinking of you. It is certainly a horrible day in Auckland today. So much for Junk Free June. I forgot and had a big old chow down on white chocolate and pretzels yesterday while having a movie day on the couch with my daughter. I will try though. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Hi girls. I've had the pleurodesis :) I was first in the list so great to get it over & done with. They drained lots of fluid again & I have a chest drain in.

I have discomfort breathing but the pain pump deals with that. Just got up to the loo, all ok :) I'm a bit tired as I had visitors from 11 till 3:45 but it was lovely to see them (3 different sets at different times).

Glad to hear junk free June is mostly going well. I don't have much choice as I'm getting hospital food. I'm at mercy so it's pretty good & I have a great view :)

    Have a good night
