Yay Shazza, I'm glad you're home. I hope the clot just goes away & the ABs keep the infection away. Nice to have a chemo break.

Enjoy your day at home. Is work on hold for a bit?

I'm off out for coffee. Nice to be free ;)

Morning all. Hope everyone is well :)

How's it going Shazza. I hope things are coming right.

I'm getting better everyday, still on pain meds but quietly cutting back.

    Take care,

thanks KT things seem to be moving along ok. It's still very red and swollen along my jugular vein which I think has more to do with irritation from the clot than the infection.

My daughters ball is tomorrow and I have been roped in to driving around to make up etc. she and a few friends are getting ready at my place and then heading to the pre ball. So exciting.

Hi ladies, glad to hear that you are both improving and I hope it continues. Shazza balls are very exciting and having a daughter attending one is a real highlight. Expensive though, but so much fun and something she will remember forever. I hope everyone has a nice weekend. Sounds like a cold snap is coming so stay warm and look after yourselves. I've got my sons best friends 21st on a farm in Tuakau but it will be nice to see all the kids my kids have grown up with. That's more my cup of tea than going to bars in Ponsonby hahaha! I'm glad you're feeling better, Shazza. I hope things keep heading in the right direction. Enjoy all the ball stuff- fun :)

Hi Donna, enjoy that 21st. It is fun to see how those kids turn out.

I'm off to get my stitch out at the Drs, yay, it's been getting itchy- so good riddance :)

    Have a good one

    Morning ladies.

Have been reading the last few days so hugs to everyone especially Shazza and Kt.

I have spent the last three days helping at The Big Sing. What a great three days watching g some incredible talent. I am absolutely done but it was great fun being with so many talented teenagers who on the whole were so well behaved being polite and considerate. I do hope many of them continue singing throughout their lives.

Hope you all have a good day.

Glad to see that everyone's health is improving. The Big Sing sounds fun but tiring Alyson.

I am looking forward to the weekend. I am still having trouble with my joints and breathing despite stopping the exemestane a week ago. I had some tests to check my heart function (as I had palpitations), and they were normal thank goodness. My GP gave me something to remove fluid from my lungs and I feel a little better. From here I am hoping that it will resolve itself. I am getting "profoundly irritated" by all this business.

Boy oh boy, isn't the cancer ride fun - not. Sorry you're still having troubles too Nikki. I'm glad the breathing has improved at least.

My wound was itchy, turns out it was an allergic reaction to the dressing. And my white cell count is up so I have to watch out for infection.

Alyson, sounds like you've had a busy but fun few days :) Fantastic

Just a quick ball picture. Unfortunately I look like a hippo standing next to my tiny daughter

:) You two look great. Your daughter looks so much like you. My daughter looks more like my dh and his mum.

I hope she had lots of fun.

Really windy up here. Dh brought me breakfast in bed this morning then I dozed off again & didn't wake till 11:30- crazy. Better get moving soon (he just brought me a coffee!)

PS you have hair Shazza, I thought I'd lose mine on taxol. Did you lose it then it came back??

Shazza, you do NOT look like a hippo! Your daughter looks lovely, I hope she had fun.

I hear you on the wind KT. We've just take our son over the Henderson for a cadet thing at it was windy and cold. I almost felt like I was back living in Wellington.

KT initially it came out. Not everything but enough that it needed to be shaved. It's been steadily growing since then and really took off when I had my break over Christmas and then lowered the dose. It used to be brown. Not sure if it will ever get back to that or not. My eyebrows and eyelashes come and go, especially the eye lashes seems as soon as they all grow back they all fall out again. Such fun.

I have my scan Monday.nothing to really make me think there is progression but have the usual scananxiety. Especially as I'm going overseas in July so really don't want to be changing treatments before then.

Good luck re scan, Shazza - hope it comes back stable or better :) Going overseas sounds great.

Yo yo hair & eyelashes, fun. Something to look forward to. I ordered a couple of scarf/turban things just in case- used some sweet Louise vouchers, first time I've used any.

Hope you didn't get blown away Nikki! Gets rid of the cobwebs I guess.

    Have a good weekend :D

You look great Shazz and your daughter is beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing the pic.

Welly is plenty windy...and it continues. Enough already.

I love your photo Shazzakelly - you both look beautiful and far from hippo status. Hope the Ball was good fun and great memories to keep.

I'm in Mt Maunganui for the weekend - windy and cold here too. We went to Fieldays yesterday at Mystery Creek and that was great to see. Weather was ok yesterday. Got fire going tonight.

Kt - sounds like you needed that sleepin. Don't feel guilty about it - just enjoy. Hope you are feeling better Shazzakelly too.

Driving back home tomorrow - might see snow on the Dessert Road if this cold snap keeps up.

All the best with the CT today Shazza.

I've just arrived at Ak Hosp for my assessment and chemo orientation.

Have a good day all :)

Hi everyone hope you all had a nice weekend. Love the photo of you and your daughter Shazza, you look really nice and your daughter looks lovely, cool dress with the cut out in the middle. Good luck today Kt1966 and good luck to you Shazza. I have my Oncology appointment tomorrow at Botany, so much handier than having to go to Auckland Hospital. I don't have anything exciting to report. Had a lovely time at the 21st, my son got up and said something nice about his best friend so I was very proud. Anyway take care everyone, Donna xxx

My scan is done and dusted. My port is out of action and my veins are terrible. There was a fair bit of mucking around as they had to ultrasound my arm to find a vein. Jacob at Greenlane is an expert though so it eventually got sorted.

Hope clinic and orientation goes well KT. I've got another week off chemo while my jugular settles.

Good luck for your appointment Fizz.

Of to work soon. Hope everyone has a good day and manages to stay warm and dry.

Seems like the week for appointments.  Hope the chemo orientation goes well today KT, and glad you got the CT over and done with Shazza, and good luck tomorrow Donna.

I have an appointment for a chest x-ray tomorrow morning at 8.30am at the Manukau Super Clinic, before having a Radiaton Oncology appointment at the same place at 9.00am (Middlemore might just be getting good at co-ordination).  I am hoping that they find nothing on the chest x-ray, like they did on my blood tests for heart function.  Hopefully it's just the Zoladex/Exemestane combo which doesn't agree with me.  I am over feeling like I am 90.

At least the sun is shining out this way after a dreary weekend.  Be well everyone.

Hi Niki, I'm sorry you are still not feeling very well. I felt like I was about 90 on the Zoladex/Femara combination. Feeling so much better on Tamoxifen, even though it's not supposed to be as effective for those of us with Lobular - what can you do??? I have just had a phone call saying I have a Gastroscopy at Ormiston next Wednesday. I thought I knew all the hospital/clinics in Auckland but Ormiston is new to me, at least it's handy. So I am taking next Wednesday off work. I get sick of telling my boss I have another appointment and I worry it's wearing thin. I have 5 weeks holiday owing up my sleeve just in case. Good luck Nicki with your chest xray in the morning, I will be keeping my fingers and everything else crossed for you. Donna xxx

Thanks Donna.  Rosalie (my Medical Onologist) said that the medication could be challenging, so I am really hoping that its the cause of my feeling yuck.

Ormiston is the private hospital of Te Iriangi Drive.  I have a few friends who work there.  They must be doing some of CMDHB's work.

I am saving up my holiday's as well, just in case I need them.  Working from home does allow for flexibility with appointments but because I work tight deadlines I often have to work in the evenings if I have had a day of cancery appointments to deal with.

Yes the lady who phoned me said they were doing work on behalf of Middlemore. I would say the standard might be a bit higher too. I will never forget an MRI I had at Ascot compared to a scan I had at Auckland hospital. It was like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Mini haha! I'm sure the results come out the same however and I shouldn't complain because I don't have to pay. Anyway good luck Niki.

Assessment & orientation went ok. Had to have another chest X-ray as I had been feeling a bit sob again.

Hope everyone had a good day. Hope your X-ray is ok Nikki. Is your SOB getting better?

Good luck to you too Donna for your appt tomorrow.

The fires going & I'm just starting to get dinner underway.

SOB is no better . I had my chest x-ray, saw the RO. She looked at the x-ray and couldn't see anything obvious, which was encouraging but it needs to be reviewed by the Radiologist as well. Next step is a CT scan, and results of a d-dimmer to see if it's a blood clot. It might be the zoladex causing it. Here's hoping. She was pleased with the way the radiation damage has healed, but there is very little skin elasticity left so even if I was wanting reconstruction, it's pretty well out of the question. I was never thinking of going there anyway so it's no big deal for me. I just want to be well enough to have my right breast removed. I've been on the waiting list for 57 days, the target is no longer than 120 days so it could be anytime now.

KT, hoping your chest x-ray results are okay. It'll be good to get the chemo going. How often do you have to have it?

Donna, hope tomorrow goes well for you

Hi Nikki. I hope the SOB resolves soon.

My breathing was fine last night after feeling breathless in bed the night before. Made me feel like a liar- weird how sometimes symptoms come & go randomly. Also I was asked if I had any pain in my chest yesterday, which was no. But then last night I ended up having to take pain relief as I was having pain. I'm so confused!!!

Don't know how the X-ray came out. I'm starting to think I must radioactive after all the X-rays & scans I've had lately...

Chemo tomorrow & it's going to be weekly- changing to Tuesday's from next week for some reason. I hope it's not too hard on me as I'm heading off to waihi beach this weekend for a break. A lot of my family are coming too, so it would be nice to feel well enough to enjoy it.

Hope you had a nice weekend in mt maunganui Kruise. My daughters heading down your way for a few days break in July with her flatmate (spell check put that as flat ate, stupid spell check)

Hope everyone's enjoying the sun :) it's still a bit chilly tho!

Nikki I hope they get your SOB sorted soon.

Hi guys, excuse my ignorance but what does SOB mean? I had my Oncology appointment at Botany yesterday. This time it was a man I hadn't seen before. It was very awkward when he had to feel my boobs for lumps etc. I know I should be getting used to it by now but it just feels really awkward when it's a guy, especially a burly hairy man like he was. Once I got my kit off and he started it was okay, but just a bit weird. He thought he could feel something too which freaked me out so he went and got Rita who said it was just normal scar tissue, but I can't help but worry what if she is wrong? It is so sore today I can't believe it. I hope you guys are all doing well. Another nice day here today. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Fizz SOB is shortness of breath. You wouldn't believe how long it took me to work that one out.

Kt promise I'm not trying to stalk you but I'm off to Wahi Beach this weekend too with a bunch of girlfriends. Hope the weather holds.

I've got to get off my lazy bum and get my housework done before I go into work. Have a great day everyone.

Hah! Weird, Shazza ;) what are the odds!! Might see you! My chemos at 1:30 today. Hope it doesn't take too long or my poor mum will have to negotiate rush hour. I think I might be getting chemo later than you next week too, but don't have my appt yet.

Donna, I'm so glad, in a strange way, that I no longer have boobs that oncologists etc have to 'feel up'! Can totally relate to that awkwardness.

I figured out why I'm in pain sometimes at night, when I'm fine during the day- it's because I try sleeping on my left side! It's uncomfortable so I only last a minute, but then a few minutes later I'm getting pain in my back which zings thru my chest as well. Then I have to take pain killers so I can eventually get back to sleep.

I so hate sleeping on my back, but you can only sleep on one side for so long. I'm tired of being tired thru messed up sleep!

Hope everyone is keeping warm & has a good day. I better do some housework too...
