Good to hear it's all over KT hope you have a comfortable night.

I had chemo at 8 this morning then didn't get home from work till 7:30. I'm absolutely exhausted luckily a friend had dropped off some homemade soup for tea.

I've managed to stay junk free for two whole days. A bit of a record for me.

KT so glad you are now recovering....let's hope and pray that is the end of all that biz for you and you can move on with the Taxol treatments and start to feel good again.

Shazzakelly - I have managed to do two days too. I still haven't had a chance to look at the Junk Free June website but I will - that's great wine is not mentioned.

Thanks for the lovely comments on the ball photos

Donna - sounds like you need a hug. Don't beat yourself up - you are doing amazing.....we all are really and even though we are facing different things and have different lives - it's good we can vent here etc. just do the best you can.

    Keep warm everyone x

Hi guys. KT as Niki said, you would have got a great show of the lightning storm last night. I was out at the Airport and it was amazing seeing it out west. Hope you start to feel better soon. Thinking of you, Donna xxx

Hope you are feeling comfortable this morning KT and had a good nights sleep. How long will they keep you in? I'm always itching to get home when I have hospital stays even if I know it's not the best thing.

Off to Pilates, then work. Hope everyone has a good Junk Free Day...

    Hi all :)

As soon as the storm began last night the windows fogged up, so I didn't get to see it :(

Mixed night last night, first half good. Second half too much pain to sleep. Took a while to sort out, but back on top of it now. Drain may come out tomorrow if it behaves, so not sure when I'll get out. It's nice up here anyway - no chores, cooking etc & get waitered on ;) (is that even a word?)

Just had a shower, feels lovely.

One of the nurses is the mum of my sons best friend at primary school when we lived in Mt Eden so it was great to have catch up!

My daughter brought cookies when she visited today, so much for junk free June ;)

    Catch you later

Haha KT I think the words you are looking for is waited on? but I'm not sure because it could be waitered on :) I know what you mean about being in hospital though. It's not always bad, nice to get your food cooked for you and to not have to worry about anything housework related. There is no place like home though and I'm sure you will be itching to get out soon. Speaking of Junk Free June, I didn't realise how hopeless I am until I started thinking about what I eat. White Cholocate and Pretzels on the first night of Junk Free June and McDonalds last night. Anyway, thinking of you KT, hope you have a better night tonight. Take care, Donna xxx

    Thanks, Donna :)

Amazing how tiring it is sitting/lying around in hospital. I've a couple of wee ambles around the ward with a nurse. Hard to get myself going with all the paraphernalia.

It will be nice to get home, but I will miss the meals etc that I don't have to prepare. Could get used to this :)

Hope you've all had a good day

    Night night

Hopefully you had a better night last night KT.  You deserve a full exception from Junk Free June.

Hey Donna and anyone else whose been on it, how did you find Zoladex?

I am having a terrible time with bone aches and almost like PMT just prior to having my injection.   I have had 3 so far and the SE's are getting worse each time.  I am also on exemestane, so not sure which one it is.  I feel like I am 100, which is really depressing me.   I have a phone appointment with Karen Spells this afternoon hopefully she's got some suggestions on how to deal with it all.  Rosalie wanted this option as it gives me 1-2% less chance of recurrence over tamoxifen.  I don't really want to go off it, because 1-2% is worth trying for with my "heavy lymph node burden".

My daughter has flown down to Christchurch today to stay with her friend who has moved there for Uni.  I think that she's in for a rude shock if she thinks Auckland is cold right now ......... she was optimistic and packed her shorts lol

Hi Niki, I did fine for the first few months on Zoladex injections and Femara and then started feeling like a little old lady, everything hurt. I remember struggling to get up out of my car. My head ached all the time, my heart was beating so fast it nearly jumped out of my chest. My blood pressure went so high they couldn't measure it at the Emergency Doctors. But I don't know if that was the Letrozole or the Zoladex. I still have numb fingers and feet and some kidney problems, so I think I had an allergic reaction or something. No one will tell my why my fingers and feet are numb! (I never had Chemo so can't be that). Honestly Niki if I could have tolerated it I would have, but my heart problems scared me as much as the cancer. I am feeling so much better on Tamoxifen, still have the odd ache but nothing like I was. Hopefully your Oncologist can recommend something to help you. It's just so unfair that the medicine that is keeping you well, is making you feel so unwell. KT - how are you feeling today? I hope everyone is okay and managing to stay warm and dry. Donna xxx

    Hi all

Nikki when I was on zoladex I didn't have too many symptoms, but I was on letrozole with it. Maybe it's the other drug?

It sure hit you hard tho Donna. Funny how we're all so different in how we react to things.

I'm feeling heaps better. The drain was removed this morning so I have a lot less pain & am actually disconnected from the pain pump now :)

Just had an X-ray, & if all is good & my pain remains ok I'll probably be discharged tomorrow :)

It will be nice to be home, tho in a way I've enjoyed my mini 'holiday' with no cooking, cleaning, work etc ;)

Hope you're all going well to

Shazz - Bugger. Really sorry you're going through this!

Gosh Shazza sorry to hear that and I think nil by mouth is taking Junk Free June a little too far. KT I'm glad you are feeling better. Shame you probably aren't in the same hospital you could meet each other. Well I hope they get on top of that infection soon Shazza. I hope you are allowed out for the weekend KT. Another grotty day in Auckland today. Can't complain compared to the poor people in Dunedin though with all the flooding. I am so glad it's Friday, I hate getting up at 5:30am. I want to win Lotto so I can retire in style. Take care everyone, you girls in hospital I'm sending you a big cyber hug and positive vibes. Donna xxx

Oh, bummer, Shazza. I hope you're on a ward by now & comfortable & they sort your port out real soon. I guess if it comes out you'll need a new one put in for chemo... Keep us updated.

Looks like I'm going home :) I'm pretty comfortable on oral meds, but really tired.

Yep another grotty day in auckland. I hear you on winning lotto Donna. Wouldn't that be great!

    Dreams are free.....

Hope you all have a good day, especially you Shazza. Hope it's all sorted real soon ((hugs))

kt - glad you are going home soon. You can hop into your own bed and have a good sleep. Make sure you have a break from cooking and housework until you feel better.

Shazzakelly - how are you doing today? Any improvement on the infection? Thinking of you and hoping it gets resolved. You might be allowed a 'free-pass' on Junk Free June after all that - at least one treat any rate.

I was sad to hear Lecretia Seales passed away last night. What an amazing woman and so brave for standing up for herself.

    Take care everyone

well it looks like my port gets to stay for the moment at least. That decision was finally reached so I could eat something at midday. Man I was hungry. I'll be in here a few more days getting round the clock IV antibiotics. So bored already. I'm hopeless in hospital. Got completely lost when I went downstairs to buy something to eat and it took me forever to find my way back to the ward. I clearly have no sense of direction.

Looks pretty rainy and cold out there. Hope everyone is rugged up warm.

I'm glad you get to keep your port. I hope the antibiotics sort it out for you.

I'm home now :) It's a weird feeling after being in hospital for 4 nights/days. I miss being waited on, but hubby will do his best. Should be back on track soon.

I hope you don't get too bored Shazza, it is hard staying put sometimes, but make the most of it! :) try and enjoy not having to do everything. Get some good books & mags :)

DH has gone out for a bit so I've sneakily put some washing on (was under strict instructions not to do anything) :)

Enjoy the rest of your day- thank goodness you can eat now

so so bored. Just had a ultrasound and radiologist said I have a small clot in my neck and a collection of fluid around the port access so waiting to hear if that's going to change my treatment plan.

Glad you are back home KT. Take it easy and let your hubby handle everything

Shazza & KT what a rough few days you've both had. Glad your at home now KT. Shazza, nothing worse that hospital boredom, with nothing to do. Hopefully you'll both be back on track soon - glad you get to keep your port in and don't have to go through getting another one in. How's your port site KT?

Jan rang yesterday from Oncology, and we had a big chat about my SE's. The bone aches are terrible, particularly in my feet and hands (very common apparently). She wanted me to either have 2 weeks off the exemestane and then try again or go off it completely. I have opted for the 2 week break option, and will see Rosalie on the 30th to make a decision. Maybe by then I'll know which drug it is that is making me miserable. If it doesn't resolve then it's on to tamoxifen.

    Keep warm and dry everyone.

Nikki, I hope you figure out which drug is making you feel crappy. No fun.

It's nice to be home. DH cooked dinner with my supervision :) he's looking after me, which is nice. Nice to see the kids more too.

Shazza, how're you going? Any sign of being able to go home soon? I hope those ABs are working.

Have a nice weekend, girls. Looks like a chill out one for me....

Hi Ladies, hope you are all doing well. Must be so nice to be home KT and getting looked after by your husband. Sorry to hear that you are still in hospital Shazza and bored. That's no good about that clot in your neck, you are in the right place I guess and do keep us posted on how you are getting on. Just done all my housework blah! I'm getting excited because I'm going into Ponsonby tonight with a couple of single girlfriends. I never ever go into town and will probably feel a bit out of place. But hopefully it will be heaps of fun, or not and I will never do it again hahah! I'm sure to be the oldest one there so it does feel a bit weird. Take care everyone. Donna xxx

Nikki feeling crap is no good hope they can sort your meds out soon.

KT make the most of hubby looking after you.

I'm still in hospital. Looks like till Monday. Sad Although infection is certainly resolving. Guess it's keeping me away from the junk.

    Morning all :)

Shazza, I hope you get to go home today. Have the infection and the clot resolved?

    I hope so....

I had a really quiet weekend at home. Felt a bit stir crazy at the end of it, I'm not very good at being sick- just want to get on with things :)

    Have a good day all!

PS How was Ponsonby Donna? Hope you had a good time :D

I'm still in hospital but it's looking good for going home sometime today. The infection is well under control they are are just deciding what to do about the clot. The have just being monitoring but looks like I will need to go on some blood thinners.

Hope you had a good time in Ponsonby Donna. Hope everyone else is having a good week. One week down for Junk Free June I'm still going ok.

Hi guys, it's so good to hear that you are doing well. Home today Shazza - that will be nice, it's a lovely day in Auckland today as well :) Ponsonby sucked!!! I felt totally out of my comfort zone and would much rather have been on the couch watching TV. Haha, I felt so old and so cold. Even my two girlfriends didn't really enjoy it. But I'm told you have to give these things a try. Next time we are going to try the Viaduct. Ponsonby itself didn't suck, in fact it looked really lovely. I haven't been there for years and the shops looked so nice, Karen Walker and Kate Sylvester the kind of shops I could never afford to shop at but I could so easily make the things they had in their windows - very inspiring. Have a lovely day everyone, enjoy the sunshine and being at home again after hospital, there's no place like home that's for sure. Donna xxx

I hope you got home yesterday Shazza, and glad you are home KT. Hopefully you're both feeling more comfortable.

Donna, sorry you didn't enjoy your ponsonby trip. I must admit that I find going out a chore sometimes and a night in front of the TV is much more preferable.

    Keep warm everyone.

I hear you on staying home in the evenings, especially on winter. I love comfort & home is the place for that.

I've been trying to wean off pain meds, but too soon I think. This morning I've been in major discomfort, but have dosed up again, now I feel better :)

How's it going Shazza? I hope you are home now.

Cold this morning- 4 deg when I drove my son in to school (he was wearing only his short sleeved shirt, no jacket or jersey) because he got up too late to get the bus. I'm back in bed, better get up soon tho.

    Keep warm!

gosh it's nice getting home to your own bed. I ended up not leaving until late in the afternoon as they fluffed around deciding what to do with the small clot in my jugular around my port, in the end nothing and if anything extra needed to be done with the new infection I seem to have got at the site that they put the line in because they couldn't access my port. Again nothing.

So yay home with 10 more days of antibiotics and 2 weeks off chemo. They will reassess every thing at my next clinic. I have a scan booked for next Monday that's my regular 3 monthly scan.
