I wish I could see my Oncologist on Botany Road Donna. I could walk there! It wasn't Mike McCystal you saw was it? He reminded me of a teddy bar when I met him.
I am off to the Dentist today to get the wires changed on my braces. I haven't had any work done on them since just before starting chemo at the beginning of November. It's quite nice having an appointment that has nothing to do with BC.
Go well today KT. Hopefully you'll get those hats and scarves today. Hubby couriered them yesterday.

Thanks Nikki
It will be a nice surprise to get the parcel, hopefully today or tomorrow. Nice to have something to look forward to.
Hope your dental appt goes well.

Hi there, Niki I don't know what his name was, he was quite hairy though hahaha, he was a pakeha but had lots of hair on his face (like he needed a good shave). He was very nice but just didn't look like a Doctor - he looked like a Forestry worker or something Never mind he's probably seen lots of boobs but I just felt really awkward. Why can't you see your Oncologist out here, have you asked her if they come out here, I think they come out this way on Tuesdays?

LOL I have this vision of Grizzly Adams in a white coat doing a boob exam! Mike McCrystal doesn't have a hairy face. Auckland Hospital must be full of burly male type doctors who have a "special interest" in BC.0 -
Hi all,
Laughing about the hairy doctor. I had a worse one in the US....my radiation oncologist who examined lots of me looked just like George Clooney. I mean just like. Identical. He joked about signing autographs for people - but he'd sign his name. I swear, I'd rather have an ugly doctor!
Hope all the appointments are going well for everyone!

Chest x-ray was normal. Looks like the medicine doing it to me. I still feel like cr**p though, but a slightly better grade of cr**p. Thank goodness I see Rosalie before the next injection.
Hope it went well today KT, and everyone has had a good day.

Chemo went ok. Feeling tired but fine. Had to stop the infusion as I had a wee reaction, but more meds, a break & I was good to go again. Got home at 6.
Glad your chest X-ray came back normal Nikki. I got the scarves today, haven't looked yet- will wait till tomorrow when I'm not so tired! thanks so much.
George Clooney's worse! Lucky you Terre
Goodnight x

Glad the x-ray was normal, Nik.
KT - happy the chemo went ok. And glad you're getting some rest.
Hugs to all,

Morning ladies just checking to see how every one is.
Big hugs and hope your day goes well.

Thanks Terre.
Hi Alyson, nice to see you- hope things have settled down re m-i-l and your back.
Nikki, thanks so much for the beautiful hats- what a selection! I feel really spoilt
I slept pretty well last night- only issue being my chest pain waking me up again, but gabapentin & tramadol fix that. No steroid high- I guess the extra meds yesterday got rid of that. So I'm feeling good.
Enjoy the sunshine!

Glad you're feeling ok KT, and can use the headwear. I was looking for a deserving home and I am pleased that you might be able to use them. Hope that jugular is behaving Shazza.
Daughter is going to a concert tonight in town (Five seconds of summer). Also somehow this process involves being dropped off and collected. 3rd night out in a row with these kids. I am really pushing the learning to drive for both of them.......they don't seem keen.

Nikki I so hear you with running those teenagers around. Neither of the boys are interested in learning but my daughter got her restricted on Monday thankfully.
My jugular is still very swollen and the skin along it is red and irritated. Hopefully they will have some answers for me at clinic on Monday.

Wow, I hope your jugular settles down soon so you can use your port again for chemo again.
I just had a visit from the cancer liaison nurse. Seems to be lot of support available these days, not that I need it as I seem to be coping fine. Might be nice to get the transport reimbursement if I can tho.
My son is a bit like your kids, Nikki & Shazza. My daughter has her restricted too thank goodness. So great for her to be independent. I'm hoping ds gets his before he goes on to whatever he decides to do next year...

I hope you're feeling ok this morning KT. I got the reimbursement for my radiotherapy travel. It was well worth it, nearly $300.00. I was pleased that someone told me about it or I wouldn't have known.
That jugular sounds like it's giving you trouble Shazza. It must be a really painful place to have an infection. It's not like you can't move your neck.
Hope everyone has a happy Friday.

Hi guys, please tell me about the Radiotherapy Reimbursement, I could probably get that too? I don't know anything about it? Hope everyone is doing well, how is your jugular Shazza? With regards to running kids around, I know it's a pain but at least you know where they are. I found it a bit frightening when they went out on their own, I'm used to it now though.

Hi girls. I'm good today. Heading off to waihi beach mid-afternoon
Donna, I was given a brochure for the transport reimbursement yesterday. You could prob get it as amongst other things it's for if you have more than 22 visits to a specialist (eg radiotherapy) in 2 months. There's a ph # 0800281222 (press 2) also a website www.moh.govt.nz
Hope that helps
Happy Friday, it's nearly the weekend!

Yay for the weekend. Day off today. The girls and I are having lunch together then heading off to Waihi Beach too. The car laden with wine and chocolate. I'm having the weekend off Junk Free June. I've been so good up till now.
Hope everyone has a great weekend

Sounds good Shazza. Have heaps of fun.
I hope we get some good weather down there. The forecast doesn't sound great. Still it will be great to get away

Thanks KT, I wish someone had told me about this when I was having Radiotherapy last year. I've got a number of someone to phone, a Travel Coordinator. I hope you girls going away have a lovely time. Good on you, you deserve it after all the crap you've been through. I've got a really sore side and back today, feels like I've broken my back? Weird. I'm planning on a nice quiet weekend at home, I feel like being curled up on the couch with a good book or watching DVD's and hopefully my back will get better Donna xxxxx Stay warm everyone!

Have fun Shazza! Sounds like a fantastic time!

Hi all, hope you had a good weekend
Mine was good apart from a bit of a guts ache for most of it! And my son came down with a doozy of a cold...
Managed to get a walk on the beach despite the weather, and had dinner out - where I just happened to spot the one & only Shazza. (Hope you didn't mind me barging in to say hi briefly!)
Had a nice (but slow, thanks to my lungs) walk in the karagahake gorge.
I hope those of you living down in the south are dry. Terrible flooding! Thinking of you...

Hi KT,
We're happily living on top of a sand dune. The paddocks which usually have sheep and grass had ducks and water for a couple of days, but it's receding. Really feel for the people who were flooded out and those in Wanganui, where they got it worse than Otaki and Te Horo did.
Hope everyone has a good week - stay warm and dry!

Hi guys, how is everyone doing? Those flood are so bad, I feel really sorry for the people affected. It's good that you live on a sand dune Terre haha! Fancy KT and Shazza bumping into each other in Waihi - that's so neat. I had a nice weekend my back feels better now but I am getting nervous for my Gastroscopy on Wednesday. Hope you are all good Donna xxx

All that flooding looked terrible. Funny that you two managed to be at the same place at the same time and it wasn't at the hospital. Had you met before?
I have got the dreaded cold. I am thinking that it might have been hanging around for a few weeks which would account for my SOB. I have started back on the exemestane this morning, pending an Oncology appointment next week to see how the SE's are. Right now I am cuddled up on the couch working.
I hope Wednesday goes well Donna.

it was great meeting you KT. Perhaps we will bump into each other at chemo.
I had clinic this morning and my scans were stable so back on to the wonder drug taxol.
Unfortunately my father passed away over night. He was 85 and had dementia so in away it was a blessing.
Not sure what the arrangements will be, but it will be a trip down to Hawkes Bay for me.

Oh Shazza I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. It may have been a blessing but it's still sad and my thoughts are with you. Safe travels to Hawkes Bay.

Shazza - so sorry for your loss. It's always hard, even if it is for the best.
Sorry about your cold Nik...not fun. Hope you shake it soon.
KT- glad you and Shazza got to see each other!

Sorry about your dad, Shazza.
Might see you at chemo tomorrow. It looks like I have 2 on Tuesday's then I'm back to Wednesday's for chemo.
I'm glad you southerners are ok.
Good luck with your gastroscope on Wednesday Donna. I hope your cold doesn't last too long Nikki. There are some nasty bugs around at the mo. My son is off school today- I think he has bronchitis as well. (And no, I hadn't met Shazza before- just knew what she looked like from her photo on here!)
Keep warm & well everyone
