;) I have to say I don't think I'll post a recent one if I do. I'm so tired, big bags under my eyes, wrinkled & bald- not a good look :P

Hope everyone had a good weekend. We had real estate agents showing people thru our place.... We're not listed as such, but getting people thru- see what happens. If no action soon will put it officially on the market with open homes etc. Thankfully it was a nice sunny day.

Could use a pic of my female cat with the moustache. :) Sadly, mine is better than those of the men in my office.

I've got a lovely picture of when I was 28, it was only 26 years ago hahaha, wonder if I could use that one? just kidding I will have to get one of my kids to help me do a selfie or whatever they're called.

Hi guys - just checking in but good to see I haven't missed much with it being quiet. Who is good at photoshop? Lol. We could all submit our face on Beyonces body?? Hehe.

I still see my RO Nikki. My medical Onc discharged me a few weeks after I finished chemo. So the RO is my contact at Wgtn hospital. I like him and can talk to him so it's all good.

I have lost 7kg on my diet so far but boy it's driving me up the wall now lol. I'm bored with the limited food choices I get so can't wait to get onto the next stage. I'm still happy I've done the 7kg though!

House sorting going slowly. We went to a couple of open homes on Sunday just to start looking around and now getting the barrage of real estate info etc.

I'm still feeling tired! How is everyone else doing? At least it's daylight savings soon - can't wait for that!

Hi Kruise. It is quiet here....

Well done with the weight loss, are you sure you need to lose more? Your photos show someone who is a good weight :)

I hear you on the house thing. I wish we could skip the tidying/showing/selling process & jump to the being in the new house bit right away! Hopefully looking at open homes will give you some incentive.

I'm off to chemo at 9- shower first so better get on with it. It's my double infusion today so I'll be at the hospital for a while.

    Catch you later

Wow Kruise. Congratulations. 7kg is awesome! I think I have lost some weight (hopefully). I can see my collarbones again which is always a good sign, and fit my pre BC levi's (just). I am trying to stay away from the scales as I find that depressing.

I still have my big boob (B cup I think). I had more fluid taken off last week - and I am getting a bit over it now. It's only been 5 weeks though so hopefully, that it will settle down without to much more intervention. Still, I wouldn't go back to having one boob, it was the right decision for me.

    I hope everyone is well.

    Hi all

I hope that fluid stops building up now Nikki. It'll be so great to be truly flat :)

I'm trying to get motivated to do some work around here. Slept in this morning (1/2 a sleeping tab last night to counteract steroid buzz)

Suns out- hooray- that always helps.

Hi guys, hope you're all doing well. I'm off to the Scallop Festival in Whitianga with some friends and I'm so excited. I have tomorrow and Monday off work. Just heard about the big earthquake in Chile and there may be a Tsunami warning haha, was wondering what would come along and make me worry. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Have a blast, Donna! I'm envious but really happy for you. Eat some scallops for me!

Yay Donna- sounds great to get away!

You can keep the scallops tho, I'm allergic to them (I've had them twice & spent the night throwing up with a horrible headache)

Watch out for that tsunami, if you're lucky you might see it :P

Hope everyone had a good weekend. It's cold again today- where did spring go? It was so nice to see a bit of sun at the weekend, hope it comes back soon.

    How was Whitianga Donna?

My eyelashes are disappearing now :( I have 4 on the bottom on one side & 7 on the other & the top ones are definitely thinning. I love my eyelashes, they're usually thick & long... Might have to look into falsies although I'm so not into high maintenance stuff. Anyone have any recommendations?

    Take care

Hi guys, sorry to hear about your eyelashes KT. I guess you could try falsies although I have memories of my Mum wearing them when I was little and she came home from a ball one night a little worse for wear and I thought she had a catterpillar on her check and it was one of her false eyelashes haha! I think they have really good ones nowadays. I had so much fun at the Scallop Festival. I went with 4 of my hard case girlfriends and we drank too much, ate too much and laughed too much, actually you can't really laugh too much can you? It was wonderful and I think we will probably go again next year. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying a glimpse of the sun. Donna xxx

Losing the eyelashes sucks. I tried the falsies KT. I couldn't even work out how to put them on so gave up fairly quickly and resorted to sunglasses and eyebrow enhancer (Designer brand available at the chemist). I just brushed it on my eyebrows (with or without any other makeup), and I think I looked better or maybe I didn't notice the missing lashes so much.

So pleased that you enjoyed your weekend Donna. Nothing like a good time to lift the spirits.

i had my two oncology appointments today. The radiation one was to check up with my SOB. It's better now that I am using inhalers, and my chest is clear so they're discharging me into Medical Oncology's care now. I saw the beautiful Rosalie at Eastcare 2 hours later (Hopefully you'll get to see her at some stage there Donna, she's so so nice). She wants me to start taking Fosamax to prevent osteoporosis. There is a contradiction with having dental work - I have braces (still), so I need to get my teeth sorted before starting that. Both doctors say that I need to have my boobless boob drained again, although it's a vicious cycle with a draining then a refilling and that maybe leaving it might mean that my body will absorb it.

Hope your chemo goes well tomorrow KT.

hi everyone - boy it's been so cold down this way lately...I worked from Levin again yesterday and could see the snow along the hilltops. It was nicer weather up that way compared to Lower Hutt yesterday though. Could you see the snow Terre?!?

Kt that is such a bummer about your eyelashes. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing and they'll come away again. You could just use the falsies for special occasions and just do the sunglasses thing most of the time like Nikki said. And yes I definitely still need to lose a few more kilos!! I think in the past year alone I put on another 10kg with 'creeping' weight that just incidentally goes up, and up and up!! I've lost 9.3kg now on my diet so getting there.

Donna your scallop festival weekend sounds fab! Good on you having an indulgent time - life is too short not too!!

Anyway just popping in to say a quick Hi. Take care everyone.

Hi girls. Nice to hear from you :)

I'm glad you had fun on your weekend Donna. I bet if I wore falsies they'd end up somewhere weird too :P

I'm glad your appts went well Nikki. Thanks for the well wishes.

I hate to think how cold it is where you are Kruise, it's bad enuff up here.

Well. I've had a ridiculous start to my day.... My son slept in so I had to take him to school. As we went we noticed cattle from next door had got into our place and we're eating my trees. So I dropped DS off & raced back to get the neighbours (2 lots) to help me move the cattle back. Got it done 15 minutes b4 I had to leave so jumped in shower & got ready in record time! Then couldn't get a park huge queues to get into hospital so parked in the domain (which is 2 hour parking & I'm here for at least 3). Then! I forgot my bloodtest this week so had to have blood drawn to see if I can go ahead with chemo so a wait for that!

Time to relax & destress in the chemo chair- phew!

Hope you all are having a calmer day than me ;)

Donna - what a fantastic time it sounds like! How fun!

Kruise - I was in Levin yesterday too. And there's definitely snow on them thair (yes, spelled wrong on purpose) hills. I am so over this crap weather!!! Of course, I was over it in July, so now I'm well and truly beyond over it.

KT - what a goofy morning! I went to go to an appointment in Levin yesterday and came around a curve on Te Horo Beach Road and there were young bulls in the road. I've always wondered why they paid attention to the one little skinny wire, even if it is electrified. Yesterday, they decided not to. Helped get them off to the side of the road and a few other people were keeping them there and waiting for the farmer to show up. I will kind of miss that when we move - kind of entertaining this rural life is. :) Made me 5 minutes late for my appointment, but my clielnt understood. Anyway, hope your chemo and the rest of your day goes well.

Nicki - hope they get your fluid problem sorted soon. That can't be fun.

Well, less than 8 weeks until we get the keys to our new place. Exciting, overwhelming, and scary and wonderful all at the same time.

I'd best get back to work...

    Hi all,

I met an amazing man at my office a few weeks ago. We were on the elevator and he had on a pink ribbon pin. I mentioned it and he said he wears it in honour of his daughter - Karen Louisia. She passed away from BC about 5 months ago. He teared up when he talked about her. Last week, he told me that they have set up a foundation in her honour to help others with Stage IV BC - more research for a cure, better access to technology and medicine, etc. I'm not asking anyone to donate, but I would as that you please consider liking and sharing the foundation's page (below) on Facebook. The more awareness we raise, the better chance we have of finding a cure.

    https://www.facebook.com/karenlouisa.org.nz?fref=n...

    Thanks,

    Terre

Wow Terre. There are some amazing people out there. So good to see metastatic BC gain more advocates for a cure.

That father is so brave to make that stand :)

Karen used to be a member here under the username Huntsco and we used to message quite a bit. We were both members of the metavivors Facebook group. She was a really wonderful soul who loved her beautiful boys. I think that it's greatthat her family are able to honour her in that way

Thanks for sharing that Shazza. Her father knew about bc.org, so I thought she might have been a member. I hadn't realised that the loss was so new and I have even more admiration for her family for doing this. I really think awareness needs to be increased. When AIDS was killing people in the 80s/90s, people took notice with awareness and it's become a manageable disease. The same needs to happen for us - at least manageable disease if not a complete cure.

Hi all, Just catching up a bit here. Terre - what a sad story about the man in the elevator, and I admire what he is doing in his daughter's name. I will go "like" the page and tell my father about it as he likes to find good bc causes to donate to (NOT Komen).

It looks like my exchange surgery is happening in Nov. so I should be flying to Christchurch some time in Dec. I am looking forward to getting to know NZ and maybe I'll get lucky enough to meet one of you wonderful women!

Hi guys, nice to hear that you are all doing well, Katcar0001 it would be really nice to meet you. I think we should all get together sometime??? I went and liked the Karen Louisa page. So sad that another beautiful woman has been lost to this f*&%^$ing disease. I see in the paper today that Helena McAlpine also lost her battle at aged 39. She was a presenter on C4 and a really neat lady. I am back down to Whitianga tomorrow for a funeral of a lovely man who lost his battle with throat cancer, at age 57 left behind four heart broken children. Sometimes life sucks big ones !!! Anyway sorry to be so depressing. On a brighter note, have you all noticed the blossoms and how it's getting lighter in the mornings. Did any of you ladies from the Wellington region feel the earthquake earlier this morning? Donna xxx

Is anyone on here going to the Advanced Breast Cancer Forum in Auckland? Sweet Louise and NZBCF are organising it on 14th of November. Details and registration on the Sweet Louise website. It's being held at Kings School in Remuera, and is free to patients.

They had a ballot for members to win travel and accommodation packages, and my name came up, so I'm off to Auckland!

Any Stage 4 here thinking of going? We might be able to catch up there - I'd love to meet you guys!

Fizzdon, I just looked on geonet . I wonder if this was the one. The one before that was 9hrs ago. I had the freezer lid opened about that time and said to hubby was that an EQ but since it felt like a little quiver I thought it was just the freezer.

Hi Musical, I believe it was around 7am this morning. If you go on the Geonet Website http://www.geonet.org.nz/ you will be able to find out all about it. Hey anyone who is coming up to Auckland for that Forum at Kings College you would be more than welcome to stay with me. It means you won't have to pay for accommodation and heck why not - I do live in the country though, but I would be happy to drop off and pick up? Anyway let me know. Take care everyone, Donna xxx
