Hi all,
My husband felt the quake in Te Horo. I was at the rail station in Waikanae, or maybe on the train by that time, and didn't feel it. Hubby sent me a message and said "the earth moved for me this morning darling". Then he followed it up with "of course, that was AFTER you left for work." He's a nut case.
Thanks for "liking" Karen's page on FB. I really do believe the more we can get the word out there, the better. There were two young (under 40) who have been in the paper due to passing from BC the past few days. Just sad.
I'm not going to the Forum, but how sweet of you to offer a free place to stay, Donna! We're moving the weekend after the Forum, so there's just no way I can go. Didn't even try for the Sweet Louise thing. Glad you're getting to go Sue!
I'm having a really down day. In addition to the women in the paper mentioned above, a friend from the boards here sent me a private message to say goodbye. She has days to weeks and I'm just gutted. I've not met her, but we just connected somehow. Hating this disease!
Hugs to all,
Terre

Hi Donna, I am having my usual bout with insomnia and it was nice to see your note. I would be thrilled to meet you and some of the other ladies from NZ. I imagine that I'll be touring about a bit at first, getting to know the place. I am very excited as I have heard for years that NZ is one of the most amazing places in the world for natural beauty. How was that scallop festival, by the way?
It is heartbreaking to hear of so many young women losing their lives to this dreaded disease. For me, it brings back memories of losing my mum when she was only 34 years old (different kind of cancer). I feel for all the families left behind, esp. young children. Life can be terribly unfair, and these are just some of the thoughts that keep me up at night.
I hope everyone has a good day today. ~Kat

Hi all
Nice to see you, Musical & Kat & suems. Congrats on winning tickets to the forum sue. That will be nice having transport & accomodation sorted!
I'm still deciding whether or not to go. We get so much info here I always wonder how much they'll cover at a forum, will it be in depth enough? I guess it would be good to see what is happening in NZ specifically. And it is a chance to catch up- if we can find each other in the crowd!
Friday at last! Have a good weekend

Kat - it is beautiful here. And the people are quite nice. Looking forward to welcoming you to NZ!

Thank you so much, Terre! I cannot wait. My bf has said all the same things. He clearly misses his friends and family by the way he talks about them. Kiwis sound like my kind of peeps!

As of today, I have been in NZ 7 years. How time flies! And I booked the movers for 23 Nov. Told him my next move will involve an undertaker unless he wanted to take care of that for me too. He said " I teckon", which is what he said when I asked him if he wanted to move us one last time. He and his mates have moved us 4 times and are lovely and hard working lovely young men.
So I guess I'd best start getting organised as I have a lot of business travel in Oct!

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well. An absolutely stunning day in Auckland today. Has anyone heard from Shazzakelly or Alyson lately?

Hi Donna. It's a gorgeous day up here too
I PM'd Shazza on the 23rd & heard back from her. She's doing ok, just a break from posting I think.
I think Alyson is off to the states soon - saw something on another thread.
Enjoy the day all. Gotta go a friend has just turned up

Hi guys, Thanks for thinking of me fizz. KT is right I'm just taking a bit of a break from posting. I'm doing ok but am just feeling a bit over all this cancer stuff.
What a beautiful day. I had chemo 94 today then took my daughter to the eye clinic to have a cyst on her eyelid drained. (She now has a jaunty eye patch) Just rushed home now out the door to work.
Hope everyone is doing ok. X

hi ladies.
I have been working flat out on the house for sale etc. not much time for anything else! We have signed up with an agency a few days ago so have about 2 full weeks from now before they come in for photos. There is so much decluttering to do after 19 years.
Yes we did feel that earthquake recently. We were still in bed as our alarm goes off about 7am. It wasn't as bad as some we've felt before.
We had some beautiful sunny days last week but past couple days have been freezing.
We going to watch the All Blacks play Georgia soon and then it's time to get stuck into the cleaning up again. It is good to get rid of stuff. The St John Op shop is doing very well out of all this
I will have to go and like that page on fb Terre. I have been following Jennifer Dooblah's journey on fb for a while now too and I think she is in hospice now with not too many more days left. So with losing Helena McAlpine too recently - and the ladies we have known personally - and through bco - it is a definite reminder about this disease and how brutal and tragic it can be. I admire each one of you at whatever stage you are at for all you have been through, the treatments you have endured, the knowledge and wisdom and support you impart to others and how brave and strong you all are. We are all ambassadors for the change we want to see.
So remember all that as we head into October and bc awareness month.

Hi Kruise.
Well done on getting things moving re the real estate agency. Nothing like a deadline to get motivated on the de cluttering etc! Gets a bit tiresome living in a 'show home' but it will be worth it Do you have an idea of where to next?
It is really sad about Helena & all the others we've lost to bc, old & especially young
There are way too many people dealing with this. I rang oncology yesterday to see if I could change an appointment (got my next 2 in the mail, & 1 is for 8am!) but apparently they are so busy they're having trouble fitting everyone in & can't change anything over the next 2 weeks anyway. They will try & schedule later in the morning appts in future tho... So an early start to get down to Ak for that appt.
(it would be nice to have a more regular time - my appts are anywhere from 8 till 1:30pm starts)
It was fantastic to see the sun last week! I hope it heads back again soon. Have a good weekend everyone x

Well done Kruise! Where are you moving to? And love the BC sentiment. I'm doing the street appeal thing next weekend. The thing I like about the Karen Louisa foundation is that they want to get us access to clinical trials and more choices of meds. I look at what women overseas get for Stage IV and it's a bit pathetic here. We just need a cure!
KT - ick @ 8 am appointment. Brutal! But hope it goes well.
Sunny day here, which is nice for a change! It was just nasty in Welly yesterday. Walking to the train, a gust of huge wind came through and knocked a lady over. Made me stagger. So it's nice to see a nice day!
I'm off to the south island for work tomorrow. Should be pretty!

oh no kt- 8am!! That's a shame you can't change it....there is probably someone out there hoping for that time instead of the one they have later in the morning.
Yes deadlines are good for making you get cracking with things otherwise we'd keep putting it off. And no I'm not looking forward to having to keep it so pristine all the time while people look through it.
Terre we are not 100% sure yet where we going to go but probably up the Kapiti coast somewhere. We haven't really had time to look yet - once our house is on the market we'll spend more time finding somewhere.
Hope everyone's weekends are going well.

We just bought at the north end of Levin, first property zoned rural out of town. Moving in November. Can't wait!!

Woohoo Terre. Exciting news.
Sounds like a few of us on the move (or soon to be) at the moment! I can't wait to move on- but at the same time I love it here. We have so much space, it's all-day sun & I will really miss our animals (alpacas, sheep, goats) and its beautiful. But at the same time I know I don't have the energy anymore to maintain everything and look after animals. Will definitely need to move if & when my disease progresses- so better to do so now while I can help pack etc etc.
We'll be downsizing too- section size & house size & hopefully free up some $ to fit in some fun
Catch you later

A couple of pics of what I'll miss...

Beautiful lace kt. I would love alpacas but we're only buying an acre

KT beautiful pics.
Funny ( well not for you) how they have given you 8 am for chemo. I've been ringing them every cycle begging for that time as it fits in with work. Their usual reason for not giving it too me is that they need it for people doing all day chemos but I've always been suspicious that they have given that time to someone who lives miles away and would prefer something a bit later. Looks like I'm right.
Quiet weekend here which is how I like it. We are picking up a rescue rabbit this evening who may become the new addition to our family if our current rabbit isn't too mean to it. I haven't had the heart to tell the cats yet. They are terrified of the one we've got. She's pretty feisty.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Clinic for me tomorrow. I'm quite enjoying only having to go once every 6 weeks.

Hi guys, glad everyone seems to be doing well. Beautiful photo's KT, I can see why it will be hard to move Well I'm convinced I have someone out to get me, or someone looking out for me. This morning on the southern motorway my son and I were nearly involved in a terrible accident. Four vehicles in front of us (including a small truck) were in a nasty nose-to-tail. I only just managed to miss it by a matter of inches. My son got out and helped one man by holding his scalp back onto his head - he was so lucky as his little car was squashed. I just sat in the car and cried, don't know why but that's what I did. I also phoned emergency services and couldn't remember where I was or what my number was for a while. Got to work a bit shaken but oh so grateful. Bit scared to drive home now. Certainly taught me that following distances are really really important. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Ooh, scary Donna! I'm so glad you and your son are ok (despite being a bit shook up). Well done to you & your son for helping
Windy today, but nice to see the sun. I'm v tired after work. Time to chill out for a bit, read the paper & do the crosswords...
Take care all

Donna, that sounds like a dreadful start to the morning. I am glad you managed to avoid being hit and are physically ok.
Your photo's are lovely KT. Glad to see you Shazza, Kruise, Kiwicat.
I am just checking in really. Life has been pretty non-eventful over the past week - I suppose that's a good thing.

Hi all,
Just thought I'd share the good news we got today. We have buyers for our house (went unconditional today) and they would like to keep our animals They seem like lovely people and I think our beasties will be in good hands (they haven't 'done' a lifestyle block before, but then neither had we!)
Got to look for a rental for a while now as we have a short settlement. Hopefully somewhere that takes cats!
So great news, but a little sad to be leaving at the same time....
Hope you all had a good day today too

KT that's great news that you have sold your place to people who want your animals. That must be a relief. On to the next stage. Although moving sounds exhausting. I hope you have lots of helpers.
- Day off for me today which is why the weather isn't so great. Hope everyone is doing well.

Enjoy your day off Shazza I think the weather is supposed to clear in the afternoon, let's hope so.
We sure have lots to do over the next few weeks. Trying not to think too far ahead & just do one thing at a time!

KT great news, that was fast work. Good that your animals are going to be taken care off. Where are you planning on moving to?
The sun is out (which is better than the grey sky this morning), but it's blimming windy. It would probably be a great drying day if I could be bothered hanging out the washing lol.

Congratulations KT! Windy here too, and gloomy, and cold. Supposed to get down to 2 tonight. Ick! I'm over this crap weather.
Had to go to an ear/nose/throat specialist in Palmerston North this morning. Didn't really tell me anything I didn't know, but did figure out why I'm dizzy off and on. Apparent inner ear damage combined with Femara has left me a bit wonky around the edges. He said to give it time and my brain will adjust to it and compensate. Also left a note for Dr. Isaacs to ask for another bone scan; have been having some new pain that's not going away. Hopefully just Femara SEs, but better safe than sorry.
I'd best get back to work....
Sending hugs,
Terre

Just checking in and catching up a bit.
Terre, I am sorry the weather is so gloomy and that you are having dizziness. I hope your brain compensates soon and that it is only Femara causing your new pain. I do find it a bit disturbing that NZ is behind the curve in terms of available treatments. I had read that in "Take Charge of Your Breast Cancer," but I had hoped things had improved.
KT - Congrats on selling your place to people who will care for your animals. I fantasize about selling my place, but my animals are 3 cats and 2 dogs, and I could not part with them ;-). I am kind of stuck with the property (4 acres), but at least we have a house sitter while we will be in NZ. I will miss my babies though! Shazza, I have never had a pet rabbit, and I think its funny that your cats are terrified of yours. I would have thought the other way around... I hope all goes smoothly with introducing the new rescue rabbit to the clan.

My mum the other day in Whangarei was given the opportunity to go sky diving, my nephew had to work and they rang her up and asked her if she wanted to go in his place expecting her to decline, she is 82 and she said, she would love to and she went out to airport and dived out of that plane with her parachute and did not fear once. she said, What a ride. lol. 82 and she is sky diving.. she is here putting the suit on.
