Hi all,
Well, got bone scan results. Arthritis is worse, but no evidence of active mets. So all is well!
Love the kitten Shazza!
Hugs to all,
Terre

Great news Terre about the no active mets bummer about the increased arthritis. I have been having a lot of increased lower back pain lately and I wonder if it's progression of my bone mets. But the fact is I've always had a rubbishy back and my job involves standing all day on a concrete floor so my back would be sore cancer or not.

Hi all
Great news, Terre. Sorry about the arthritis tho.
Gorgeous kitten Shazza I hope your back pain is not cancer related too...
I'm nearly done at chemo. Then it's a quick shop with DD on the way home

hi everyone. KT glad you're feeling a bit better and rested after your move. That kitty is gorgeous Shazza. My girl is doing NCEA Level 3 too - just had chemistry today. She seems relaxed about it...hope she does ok. She has basically finished school...scary eh! One minute they are starting school as cute 5 year olds and nek minut they are leaving for Uni
We have found a house to buy - some other buyers were putting in an offer so we had to as well but ours was slightly more money so we got it! Not moving to Feb next year into it. Our house is selling by tender and that closes next Thurs 19th so hopefully it's all good. We know there are people very interested - they have been here 4 times, even bought their kids and got a builders report so we are optimistic it will sell! Hopefully we can match up the dates but we may end up homeless for a month or so...hopefully not! We'll get our last Xmas at our current house anyway which is what we wanted.
With regards to follow up - at Wellington I am getting 6 monthly check-ups with onc and 6 monthly checkups with my specialist. Not sure how long that lasts for.

Exciting news, Kruise! Congrats!

fantastic news Kruise. Will keep my fingers crossed your house sells quickly too. My daughter had Chemistry today too. Apparently the best exam ever. Guess we will see when the results come out. She applied to train as a medic in the armed forces and has got through all the stages so is in the candidate pool. She finds out on the 20th if she has got into the Feb intake or not. She has an interview next Wednesday for the paramedic course at AUT which is her plan B. Plan C is a Science degree she has been offered a place dependent on results. A very stressful time of year for our teens.

Wow Kruise, that's great you've got a house to go to : ) & it does sound like your house will sell! Nice to hear your kids are doing so great- your DD with her exam & Shazzas DD with her plans (sounds like she'll do well whichever she gets into).
My son is planning on a gap year, working, but hasn't found (or really looked) for a job yet and doesn't seem to fired up about NCEA. I hope he'll discover what he wants to do soon so that he gets some motivation!
Shazza, do you have contrast with all your CT scans? The one that you drink, I mean. I didn't get sent any for next weeks CT so I presume I don't need it. First time without tho....
Well, better get some sleep now- I have work first thing tomorrow. Night night

Terre - so glad to hear of your clear scans and NED status. I wish for you a permanent relationship with NED! I am sorry about the arthritis and hopefully you do not have too much discomfort from it.
KT - It's nice to see your kitty relaxing on the deck and to hear that you are feeling better. I hope you can make it to the conference.
Kruise - congrats on the new house!
Midnight - darling baby horse! Love horses and miss having them around.
Shazza - hoping for clear scans for you too! And everyone else getting scans.
I have been having bad upper back pain. I hope it is just from lifting weights and then going off on a weekend trip carrying a suitcase, sitting in a plane, etc.
I had to cancel my exchange surgery for today :-(. I was taking a muscle relaxant that I did not realize had Naproxen in it as well. My blood was too thin and my surgeon did not want to risk a hematoma. He wants to wait 10 days. So, now my trip has been pushed out as well :-(. boo. Looks like Pete is going to buy a little batch near Hadlock. He's evaluating how much work it will take to maintain the grass around it to protect it from fire. It has quite a bit of land. If he buys it, that will be great because i am not sure I am cut out for being on a boat long term.

Katcar - the bach sounds wonderful! Sorry you had to postpone everything, but glad your surgeon is being conservative. And here's betting your back pain is from overdoing things. Sending good thoughts.
KT - I had a young friend who didn't know what to do so did a gap year. He got a job selling men's shoes at Sears (in the US). Totally motivated him to go to uni! I don't think a gap year is a bad thing; hard to commit to what you want to do the rest of your life when you're so young. I didn't go straight to uni and am glad I didn't because I had no clue what I wanted to do or even what options existed.
Kruise - good luck with the house sale and good luck to your DD.
Shazza - good luck to your DD too. Sounds like she'll do well no matter which path she chooses!
Sending hugs to all!

KT they haven't given me the oral contrast with my last two scans, apparently they don't think it's necessary. Drinking a litre of water before hand gives the same effect. I'm not complaining as I couldn't stand that stuff. I've had my last few scans at Greenlane which has been so much easier for parking than Auckland.
Sorry your exchange surgery got cancelled Katcar but better safe than sorry.
Day off for me today but it looks like it will be spent doing housework. The place looks like a bomb went off in it. Have a great day ever

Hi all. Home from a wonderful holiday and feeling relatively normal this morning. Must go back and read what I have missed.
Have an LE apt next week. Need new sleeve so will get that it's free from AHB. Can get as many as I need.
Your were talking about follow up treatment. I saw the Onc Dept six monthly for about seven years and still see my BS once a year. Think things depend on diagnosis as I know of people in Auckland who had much less follow up. Had yearly scans up to six years and still have them if needed. My BS is wonderful and will see me immediately if I have a problem and my GP will also contact here.
Last bone scan showed more arthritis oh how we live such news. Had MRI in Feb and BS rang me to say yeh no mets but your back is stuffed. We both laughed till we cried.
Midnight pleased to see you and love the little horse.
Big hugs to all.

Hi all. Nice to see it so busy here
Kat, I hope your surgery goes well in 10 days. A Bach does sound nice.
Yeah, Terre, I'm ok about him having a gap year so long as he does find a job!
Thanks, Shazza. I hate that prescan drink too so I won't miss it :P My scans are on the Shore, thank goodness. Much closer & easier parking too.
I'm glad you had a wonderful holiday Alyson. Hope your appt goes well
I've had a busy morning at work. Just catching my breath before I go out to lunch with friends. Have a nice afternoon everyone

Hi all, hope everyone had a good weekend.
Sure is wet today I'm glad to be done with my mail run.
The forum at the weekend was good. I travelled down with 3 fellow Sweet Louise members & also got to say hi to Shazza. Twofer & Sue- I'm sorry I didn't see you! I hope you enjoyed the forum too. I thought Vernon Harvey spoke well & many of the others were very informative too. Would be great if we could get some more drugs available to us.... And I'm even inspired to look into PINC & try & regain some energy & fitness that I've lost thru treatment.
Stay dry!

it was great to see you to KT. The forum was pretty interesting but boy was I exhausted at the end.
I got my scan results today at clinic and am pleased to say I'm still stable. Taxol number 100 for me tomorrow
Hope everyone is going well. The weather seems to have cleared while I was at work.

Great news Shazza. Yay!
Pleased that you guys made it to the forum. It sounds interesting. I have a older friend who is in Sweet Louise and she has benefited so much from that particular organisation. She's been stage 4 for 16 years.
I was asked, a couple of months ago, to be involved with the Auckland Cancer Society Christmas Campaign. I was interviewed for a couple of hours and provided them with some photos. It's just about finished so I will show you when I get the final one. I did this because my Nurse was simply wonderful to me, saved my sanity actually, Not sure if I am brave or stupid to put myself out there so publicly but there you go.
I booked tickets yesterday for a girlfriend and myself to Sydney in May. A big step because I have lived week to week for the last year. We got a great deal, $95.00 over and $141 back. I'm so looking forward to it.
I hope everyone has a happy day

Hi guys, sounds like everyone is doing well. It's so nice hearing positive stories and that someone has been stage 4 for 16 years! Niki that nurse you liked so much does her name start with C? I've been good, had a lovely weekend at Raglan with some friends. Gearing up for my sons 21st in a couple of week. Then it's Christmas. Take care everyone, Donna xxx

Nik - good on you! I did something similar locally last year and got really good feedback and support from it.
Fizz - 21st party sounds like fun!

Hi everyone.
Good on you Nikki. It would be good to see the interview when it's done
If anyone's interested the slides/info from the forum at the weekend is on the Sweet Louise website (just go to menu then NZBCF & Sweet Louise Forum)
Windy today- good for the washing if it doesn't blow away.
Enjoy the 21st Donna

so it was taxol 100 for me today. Mel the nurse that did my first chemo did my 100th. All the nurses signed the t shirt my friend organised for me. If you look closely you can see Rueben Broom my oncologists picture.

Woohoo! A big milestone. I hope to follow in your footsteps.
I'm off for taxol # 23 this morning (or 22 since I missed one) so a wee ways to go.

Karen Spells is amazing. We chat cocktail recipes and rabbits. Her one is called Cliff.

Congrats on stable and 100 Shazza....you are doing so well. KT glad you enjoyed the forum and some newfound motivation. Niki- great about the Auckland cancer society christmas campaign - make sure you show us on here - and for booking a trip to Oz. It will be fantastic. And Donna a 21st for your boy coming up and yes Christmas not far away....this year has gone very fast that's for sure. It's good to hear good stories on here!
Very sad about Jonah Lomu - but Wow what a life! I'm sure he fitted in a bit of everything and made the most of everything. Just very sad for his little boys and wife and family/friends.
So Tim and I went unconditional on our new house yesterday - yay! And today's the day for hopefully selling our house as tenders due in. We know we have some offers so here's hoping it all good.
We have an exciting weekend coming up this weekend - Elton John concert on Saturday night and then a flying trip to Auckland for Fleetwood Mac concert on Sunday night.
I am hoping my sore throat and cold I have at the moment is gone by then. It's just a nuisance.
How are all the NCEA exams going for our babies? Lol. Mine has another this afternoon and then one more next week. She was happy with the L3 Economics paper.
A lovely day here today - a cruise ship in too - so a good day for it. Have a good day everyone.

Hi Kruise, wow you are a bit lucky, two amazing concerts in one weekend, how did you manage that? I would so loved to have gone to Fleetwood Mac. I first saw them when I was 16, seems like a life time ago. Have fun and I hope that cold keeps away.
