Wow, Kruise what a weekend you have got coming up! And so great about the new house- I hope you've got some good offers in the tenders too :) (nice you have a Tim, so do I)

My son is still in bed. I will wake him up with the vacuum cleaner in a minute. He has physics tomorrow & does not like physics...

I've booked a weekend away in Paihia for my Tim & I in December. Need some fun after all the stress of packing & moving... And we'll look into booking something for February to celebrate our 25 wedding ann (in jan) and my 50th (!) - probably head to Nelson. Fun!

Well it's not nice up here, it's raining and cold. Well, take care everyone 😊

We figure we deserve some fun...we have just been working so hard lately and no 'us' time so we going to enjoy it all that's for sure. Yes very lucky! I have never seen Fleetwood Mac in concert...though grew up with my parents playing 'Rumours' and Stevie Nicks is one of my all time favorite music artists. My favorite Christmas Carol is her version of Silent Night....it's amazing!

We were going to go (and even had front row tickets) to their concert a couple of years ago but then they cancelled because of the drummer undergoing chemotherapy. I would hate to never ever get to see them so decided to go. At least you went when you were 16 Donna. But I think there are still tickets available (and maybe even cheaper trade me ones) so it's not too late to go if you decide you wanted to.

Anyway- only 3hours to go until we find out house is sold. That's when we get to see if all our hard work paid off. I'm happy and sad. It's such a beautiful day today and I was just sitting outside appreciating the house, the memories......so grateful to have been so lucky to be here for the past 19 years......😢😪😍

kt that's funny you have a Tim too :-)

Paihia and Russell are lovely.....you'll have so much fun! I know exactly what you mean about the packing, cleaning etc.

Great news everyone.....house is Sold! Was bought by a lovely family with 4 young children and a new baby due soon. Our settlement dates have matched up perfectly with our new house we just bought so we are feeling very lucky and very happy it's all worked out so perfectly.

So we now have 3 months to finish packing - but can also now relax and enjoy the time left here too.

Hope everyone is ok and that you all have a great weekend. X

Sounds perfect Kruise. I envy your long settlement! Just don't leave the packing until the last minute. It will be nice to have one last Christmas there I imagine :)

I had my CT scan this afternoon. I don't have an assessment until the 30th, so that's a bit of a wait for results....

    Oh well, never mind.

Have a good weekend everyone 😊

Wow what a wild and wooly night hope everyone kept safe and dry. I'm off for my girls end of year lunch today in Ponsonby. It's getting closer and closer to Xmas and I'm completely unprepared.

My daughter has her last NCEA exam on Monday, Biology, then that's the end of me having kids at school. It's a bit of a milestone for me as when I was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer all 3 of mine were preschoolers and I worried that I wouldn't get to see them grow up. Now they are all adults and I've still got a few years in me yet I'm sure.

Have a great Sunday everyone. At least the rain seems to have stopped

Crazy stormy last night. Hope you enjoy your lunch Shazza.

I just got back from walking into town with hubby for coffee, great to be on the edge of town :) It's still really windy here.

My DS has 2 exams to go yet. Hard to believe I'll have no school kids too! Let's hope we all have many years left to see the kids settled into their adult lives.

I've been really angry lately, about bl**dy cancer...I think having more tiredness & things like sore fingernails has gotten to me & I feel less invincible :( So I'm working on 'getting over it' & getting on with it.... I want to build good memories not be miserable.

We've booked flights & accommodation for next year in Nelson too now- so good to have things to look forward to. Have any of you been to that area- anything you can recommend doing? (We're going for 6 days)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Hi guys, wow talk about a stormy night. My Labrador was shaking and crying by the side of my bed and my cat jumped up into bed with me. I just hid under the covers and was wowed by mother nature, the thunder was intense and I could even see the lightening with my eyes closed haha, does that make sense? Certainly put on a good show out our way. A few horses ran through fences though, so a lot or sore hoses and expensive vet bills! My daughter was at Fleetwood Mac and got wet but didn't care, she said it added to the mystical feeling of the concert. You guys won't know yourselves when your kids leave school, it's kind of sad but kind of happy at the same time. I certainly don't miss those days. KT I have always wanted to go to Nelson. I always wanted to go to Raglan too and finally got to do that weekend before last. I wasn't disappointed. I have a feeling I would love Nelson too, bit of a hippy from way back. Building up to my sons 21st on Saturday, feeling nervous but excited too! Take care everyone, Donna xxx

That storm was something else. I love thunder and lightening, my daughter still is scared of it at nearly 19, and was so proud of herself for staying in her own room during it.

I totally get you on the angry thing KT. I scream in my head most days, and I haven't had to deal with a fraction of what most of you ladies have had to. I don't know how to get less angry.

It's been quiet on here. i hope everyone is doing ok. Here's a pic of my fur baby Stu all wrapped up for a wet Friday night in Auckland.

We're off to a winery today for my husbands work Christmas function. I missed it last year because I was in the depths of chemo. Not sure if I am looking forward to it or not.

    Cute, Nikki :)

    Enjoy the winery.

I thought I'd be helping with alpaca shearing today, but it's been cancelled becos of the weather. Next weekend instead- also have a wedding in the afternoon so it will be a tiring day.

Well, no more school kids for me! Weird....

Have a good weekend all. I'm off for my assessment on Monday- should get my full CT results then :)

Good luck KT, hope it goes well for you. That dog is so cute Niki. Well we had my sons 21st on Saturday, went really well but I am so tired I nearly didn't come to work today. I couldn't sleep last night, too wired I think. It went really well but I am so glad it is all over. Just Christmas to worry about now haha. Hope everyone is doing well. Donna xxx

Hi ladies - well it's a beautiful day here today! Hope it is in Auckland too. I'm glad your son's 21st went well Donna - hope you got some great photos. I know what you mean about being too wired to sleep....I don't know why but every time I have to get up early I seem to sleep badly and am awake about two hours before I need too and either stay wide awake or fall back to sleep at the last minute and feel worse when the alarm goes off. Arrggghhhhh

Good luck for your clinic today KT!

Shazza and KT I am feeling for you with no more babies at school! My girl has finished all her exams now too and just has a few school events to go too coming up plus a Graduation dinner. I'm sad that it's her last year too - but still have my 12 year old with 6 more school years ahead!

Nikki your little fur baby is very cute. Thanks for the pic. I like seeing photos on here..we should post more...:)

We enjoyed our brief visit to Auckland for Fleetwood Mac - we obviously timed it well arriving after the storm and going to the 2nd night concert. Elton John the night before in Welly was good too.

    Have a good week everyone..

Apparently it's just 25 sleeps until Xmas....:-)

Happy Monday! Good luck today KT.

It is indeed a nice day in Wellington today. Lifts my spirits immensely...I am over having rain.

Glad the party was good Donna! And the concerts, Kruise! I am a bit jealous of Kruise...:) but more happy than jealous.

Got our rental house cleaned a day early, and by 3 pm per landlord's request. Sat waiting for them. Finally checked my phone - they had sent a text saying they were running about 3 hours late and we could just leave the keys. Good grief. After getting up at 6 am and rushing around. Oh well. It's done. Yesterday was meant to be unpacking day, but I ended up rescuing five 2-week old kittens and three 5 week old kittens. Got the itty bitties on Sat night, so up feeding every 2 hours. Then drove them from Levin to Lower Hutt; that wiped out the part of the day I didn't spend sleeping and grocery shopping. So I am just happy to be dressed today and having almost matching socks on.

Not a great pic, but here's the cuddle puddle of itty bitties. Wishing everyone a great week!

Fabulous day here in Canberra. Had a wonderful weekend with the Aussie girls. Laughed talked and ate too much  Boy did I sleep last night was exhausted. It is so good meeting face to face.

I am now staying with my cousin and have just walked up to the shops for coffee.

Hope you are all doing well and thinking of you.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the well wishes. My scan showed stable which is good :) and some areas of bone more sclerotic (healing). There was also mention of a previous fracture (!) which may explain why I was limping a year or so back- X-rays at the time didn't see it.

I'm glad the 21st went well Donna. I hate it when you are really tired & really need sleep is when you can't!!

Sounds like you timed your concerts perfectly Kruise :) Fun, haven't been to a concert in years! Christmas....it comes around so fast! More fun when you have younger kids.

Wow, Terre. You have been busy, it's hard enough to move, but feeding kittens every couple of hours on top of that! You're amazing. I hope you're enjoying the new house :) I think it's more fun moving in when you know it's for good, not just temporary. Enjoy!

Hi Alyson, I peeked in the Aussie thread and saw your pic there :) I'm glad you've had a great time in Aus & Canada & the states!

The sun has finally come out up here after a very grey & drizzly day. Yahoo. I've just got back from a Pinc session in Albany. Lots of things to work on... Have a good night all :)

Oh, Shazza. I meant to ask- have you heard anymore about the trial for oral taxol? Reuben brought it up today, he thought I might like to try it.... I said if he can get more info about it maybe I'd think about it. Sounds like it may involve an overnight stay in hospital till they get the levels right or something?....

Despite the traffic & the time involved I mostly don't mind travelling down for chemo each week. In a way it's reassuring to be 'seen' so often, especially with se's like funky nails & neuropathy.

  • shazzakelly
    shazzakelly Member Posts: 620

KT so glad to hear you are stable, long may it last.I haven't heard anything else about the oral taxol trial. Rubén said he would put my name forward. I guess they will make contact if they are interested in me. I quite see where you are coming from re carrying on with infusions and while we are stable the trial doesn't really offer any real benefit, however for me after 100 chemos I'm so sick of going in all the time and am starting to get a bit resentful about it so I think the oral chemo might be a good fit for me.

  • kt1966
    kt1966 Member Posts: 1,021

Hi Shazza. Thanks for that. I can understand you being sick of going in after 100 weekly infusions. I have a ways to go to catch up to you.

The visit I resent is an hour and a half trip one way for the assessment! Shame is has to be a different day than chemo. Although it's always good to see Reuben, he's more thorough than the registrars which is more reassuring....

I tried searching oral taxol & saw there were some old trials (2000 or so) so I wonder what they're investigating this time?

Looks like it's going to be a nice day today. Enjoy :)

Good news on the stable front KT.

Glad the 21st went well Donna.

Alyson you sure get about! Glad you've had a great time on your travels.

    To everyone else. Hi.

My son just turned 17 and will be in his last year of school next year. I am hoping that he'll decide to get a part time job for the rest of the holiday's instead of hanging around the house on his computer. He's taken himself off into town today to see his girlfriend, who lives in Dairy Flat. I think he's of the opinion that working will cramp his style!

    KT - hooray at stable!

Alyson - so happy you're having a good trip!

On channel 3 at 7 pm on Thursday, Lisa from the Karen Louisa foundation is speaking about the Pharmac report and pushing for more Stage IV BC drugs to be approved by Pharmac. Should be worth a watch.

Thanks for the link Shazza. That explains it well. Will be interesting to see if we qualify for it.

Terre, thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely watch that. So good if we can have more drugs available.

I'm soo tired today. Everything is an effort. It would be so nice to have more energy...

Sons, huh Nikki. I would love mine to get a job too....

Sending you heaps of good vibes, Donna. I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

    When do you get results?

My fingernails are driving me nuts.. Stupid chemo. They were feeling a bit better, until yesterday's chemo. It would be so nice to feel 'normal' again :P
