I look for other flat chested women. A rant.

JoAnn K, It is a grieving process for your breasts as well as your other losses. I think it just takes time. It has been a really rough year for you. The loss of sexual pleasure is especially hard to take.
The silicone prostheses are heavy and fairly hot, but there is also a weighted foam that is much lighter weight and less hot. Going flat is convenient, but if you were large it may seem noticeable. There is a thread called "All Things Bras and Prostheses" which was started by a woman who also had large breasts and had a double mx. There are photos of her before and after and lots of discussion of garments and prosthesis choices. I'm a uni, so wearing something for balance is necessary.

Hi JoAnn_K:
You've had a very hard year, and you are grieving two kinds of losses.
If you have not already been there, please also visit this site:
http://breastfree.org/index.php
The site was created by Erica (Barbara) of these boards, and you will find a number of personal stories there (see menu at right). It can help to know that people feel the same way you do about their loss.
There is a breastfree blog as well (link at bottom left of the home page), with excellent posts. The site also has a lot of information about various options for prosthesis, bras and camisoles, and going flat too.
It takes time to get used to a different profile. Figuring out what works for you is a process, but you will get there. I wish I could go flat all the time, but I seem to feel a little weird about it (too bad), so I do a mixture of things. I go flat at home, and sometimes I go flat in public (hiking, air travel, or if encased in down or a heavy coat). I have a small frame, so for exercising I can wear an empty bra (a Coobie with an extra pad so the cups won't invert). Otherwise, I wear a bra with microbead forms. I only wear the silicone forms for special occasions (which are typically air conditioned!).

JoAnn, It does take time to mourn, and you have been hit with so very much in a short time. Be very kind to yourself, it is all a big adjustment. 4 years later, there are still days where I feel pain, or just uncomfortable being flat.
But when I wish, I do wear small breast forms, not near as big as I was, and mostly everyone thinks I have lost weight!
It is all going to be ok, you have just has so much to cope with, it takes time to process everything.

These were a tremendous help to me when it came time to live my life flat. I hold my head high and I'm not self conscious about being flat. It feels very normal to me and has since my surgery.

For those who remember Barbie Ritzco, one of the founders of Flat and Fabulous,,, they are putting out a tee shirt with her tattoo on the front and the words ENDURE on the back. Here's a link if you are interested.

I threw all my old bras in the trash. I guess I'd have to dig out one of my pocketed bras out and wear that.

Thank you for that piece! I can't wait to have your confidence. You are beautiful!

Lisa,
I threw mine out too but I'll find something and take a picture with it when it's time. I was really small anyway and never wore any thing padded but I can stuff something in my coobie and try that.

Sula, have you seen the photo of the Accidental Amazon, wearing a form pinned to the outside of her dress? Maybe I should go that route.
I never wear my forms. They may as well get some use.
