Wildflower I haven't been on these drugs but I just wanted to encourage you. You said you've gone through all the hormonales ( pills) but what about Xeloda , Ibrance and Faslodex? They're not hormone blockers per se but they use different paths. Also in addition to Taxol and Gemzar there is also Abraxane which I'm on and is similar to taxol but I'm only one every two weeks and se's are mild.

I hope somebody else answers your questions. Big hugs to you.

Wildflower- I was on both. For me taxol was easier and worked a bit longer. Gemzar being injected into the vein for me was hard-it really hurt. Plus I was way more tired on Gemzar.

I wish you luck with whichever you end up on.

Hi Wildflower (love your name), I can't give you any of the information that you asked for but I can say welcome and send you love and compassion as you work through the info others and your oncologist give you. Be kind to yourself, hugs....Leapfrog Heart

Hi everyone, This is a question to those who are on hormonal and targeted treatment. Have you found that you can no longer drink tea without feeling sick? I used to drink a lot of green tea but now just the thought of it puts me off and I think it started immediately after I started taking Letrozole. It reminds me of when I was pregnant...it's the same feeling. I can't face eating eggs either plus a lot of other foods. In fact eating is a chore as I no longer enjoy any of the foods I used to like. I'm also taking Palbociclib but I don't that's the cause. I have to use these two treatments for the rest of my life and the thought of never enjoying a cup of tea ever again is a bit disappointing. We make so many sacrifices in order to save our lives and I'm certainly NOT complaining about any of that. I'm very, very grateful for anything that will help me scare off these tumours and live for as many years as I'm given. I'm just interested to know if this is a common side effect of Letrozole. Thanks ladies.

    Hugs to all Heart

Lindalou, these are for you and all the rest of us that need courage to keep going with this dreadful disease. Took these in Namibia. Lions were close the big male looked me in the eye as I took his photo. I needed courage at that point. The little baby elephant thought he might try to give me a false charge, but he was so cute. He looks so dangerous!!! Hahah. Lita you need courage right now, keep fighting!! We all seem to having our issues, everyday is a new day. Keep going. I engulf myself in nature to keep my sanity.

I'm praying for everyone and hoping for meds to help progression! Enjoy the photos, they might make you smile today.

    Love and Hugs, Anita

Anita, I love how realistic those photos are. Those animals are not picture perfect. You can see the dirt, thescars, the imperfections. But they still look fierce. Perhaps even more so when you know what they've been through and how they've come out the other side still ready to rumble. That's how I see all of us. A bit beat up, but all the fiercer for it.

Anita you know when you are somewhere beautiful and you take a picture and look at it and are disappointed because it just doesn't do it justice. I feel with your pics that this isn't the case at all. I feel like I'm right there with that little guy and his huge ego so cute. I can feel the heat on the lionesses fur and hear the flies buzzy around her. Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful moments

Lita you know you hold us together here, i am so so sorry of your disappointment. You have been saying for the longest time that you are feeling "things". But there is still always hope. Chemo is tough, but maybe it will kick this monster to the curb, and you'll get back to your walks. I hope you feel this huge hug coming your way. You know, we got the Bellavita bath/chair for my mom(yrs back), it was a Godsend, because she loved baths, and this way she was able to control it herself, we did not have to break the bathtub, it's costly, yes, but maybe medicare pays somewhat? maybe you could find similar, but the idea is beyond words for those that bath is a relief.

Everyone expressed themselves with so much sensitivity, what a bunch, Anita yeah the ferocity from these animals that's what's needed, don't mess with me, they are saying. Micmei LOVE that picture, it says it all, and illimae yeah that hug, perfect.

Linda go you proud MAMA, first of congrats, what a moment. Beyond words that you could not be there, make believe he's far away in a different country. At least these days we are able to see them in real time. That is a dream. Good for you.

Zar kudos kudos for the humor. Please, i hope i'll never loose that, and the cynicism keeps me on my toes, it's all that is left.

Wildflower good luck on your decision, it's half dozen of one and half of the other. I think Kaayborg is on Gemzar on the liver mets, and it's working very well for her. And like Aurora said, Abraxane could be a softer type of Taxol. Taxol is known for the big guns, look at Wendy, LindaE...

All the newcomers, so many, welcome to the best place to be at this point in life, that's how i see it.

Babs, oh my, i kinda stayed back a few days, migraine every day, it took me out of commission, i can't believe you are in Israel already. What a dream. So much to see. Enjoy every minute.

Hi Leapfrog - I am no longer on ibrance and letrozole but when I was I didn't notice any changes in taste.  However, I am now on Kisqali (sister to ibrance) and a SERD with no name yet (clinical trial) and I am experiencing changes in taste.  I don't drink much green tea anymore but I do drink regular lipton tea and it does taste different.  I'm actually not sure if it is the tea that tastes different or the sweetener I use (stevia or stevia blends).  I get a little sick after just  two cups and I'm am a huge tea drinker so that is disappointing.  Also I notice that wine tastes different and I am not enjoying it.  That is REALLY disappointing to me.  I've been trying all different kinds now.  I used to like the bold reds (cabernets) but now nothing tastes particularly good.  Which I should just accept and stop drinking wine.  I'm getting to the point that it just isn't enjoyable anymore.  I also find that chocolate tastes extra rich to me.

So the drugs could be affecting your sense of taste.

Anita - love all of the pictures you post.  You are soooo talented.  Just amazing!  Thanks for sharing your gift with us.

Lita, your posts are always so inspirational and I am so sorry about your scan results ... You are in my thoughts and prayers as you deal with making new treatment plans ... I have had a couple of bad scan results and have found that I always feel better once I have a plan in place and am on treatment again ... Thinking of you and your family and your sweet bulldog ...

Hello! Have been gone for a while but wanted to drop in and see how everyone is.

Babs!!! Israel!!! Wow!!!! On my bucket list!!! Have a great time and I hope you are feeling well and taking in every minute.

LindaE54, think of you often and hoping your treatment is going well. How are you doing?

Lita, that's a punch in the gut for all of us I think! I hope they get you on a good regiment that kicks that progression to the curb!! I'm having a lot of headaches too, which is worrisome.

So, they have finally found an anti-depressant I can tolerate! I'm on Wellbutrin, and I feel like I'm crawling out of a very dark hole. I gotta tell ya, for a while I was thinking really bad thoughts. Am doing better though and even back to exercising more. Labs tomorrow and Ct on Monday. I hope my dark days haven't set me back. Will check in again soon

Gracie - I am so very happy to read you're doing better! Music to my ears. Thanks for checking on me, I'm better in the sense that I no longer have nausea/vomiting issues with the right med cocktail and my appetite is back. I finished my 12th Taxol tx today and must say I would appreciate a break from chemo.

Gracie yippee that's great news so important to feel good with this crap eh? I will have to write the name down for future info. So I saw my oncologist today my tumour markers drops another twenty point twenty more and I'm in the normal range also my liver enzymes are normal my liver is healthy again . Yeah Taxol so one more month and I'm done for a bit. My oncologist said no treatment for a few months just get my body detoxed and healthy or at least try. Scan after two months then every three. Idk I feel nervous about this bit.

Lynwood, I traveled to Philly from Michigan in June to see U2 on my 58th birthday! I loved Philly! My dear friend who lives in DC met me there. It was fantastic. I love Paul McCartney (who shares my birthday!) and saw him about 5 years ago in Detroit at Comerica Park. Music reminds me of why I am alive. It is a spiritual experience for me. I saw U2 for the first time in 1981 in a bar in Michigan and they have been my main love since then. I saw 2 shows in Chicago with my son and sister in May. The show in Detroit will be my 4th this year!

Wildflower, I did Taxol with my original IBC diagnosis and had a complete response. I did have bad reactions to taxol. Terrible skin rashes that were more like burns. I almost quit treatment. However, my reaction is extremely rare, and it was very effective.

    Best wishes, Joy

Hi! I am new here and have not quitefigured out how to navigate. Was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2014. (ER/PR+) Treatment was Taxotere and Cytoxin, radiation, lumpectomy, sentinel node removal, and letrozol. In 2016, I was diagnosed with bone mets, stage 4 and have been taking Ibrance in conjunction with Faslodex and Xgeva. My last CT shows that while some bone is healing, other tumors are growing. Not sure what will happen next. Has anyone taken Ibrance and had it stop working? What was the next line of treatment, if any? Thank you!

Yay Wendy! Happy to hear this treatment is working so well. It's news like this that gives me hope that any future progression has a chance to be taken back down by future treatments.
