Hi all, trying to catch up! I went swimming a couple times this week and my arm really flared up :( I've had pain before in my lymph area, but nothing like this. It can sneak up on you even a year later? I googled some lymphadema draining techniques and it did help. Oh breast cancer, the gift that keeps giving :(

Slick I hope you are resting and recovering well. Sending you positive thoughts and hugs.

Lori, I hope you are doing well. Counseling is a great thing! Hugs!

Laurie, hope you are doing okay! Be careful with that Methadone. It is a sneaky drug that takes awhile to build up in your system and even longer to leave :( The physical withdrawal from that stuff is like the devil. I had physical withdrawals from the lowest dosage of opiate pain meds just because my body was so used to it. I wasn't mentally addicted at all. Yucky, not fun at all! Especially with kids. More gifts that keep giving :( Nerve pain is atrocious, so I know you need something. Just giving you a heads up. Hugs!

Blondie I agree with Teka, be careful my friend! I'm sending you hugs and healing thoughts! Love!

Skittle, Camille, Teka, Jazzy, Lily, and all others, hugs and happy Sunday! I'm a little down still. My youngest had some milestone moments this week and I wanted to call mom and tell her all about it. Then I realized I couldn't and started sobbing infront of all of my friends at the pool. Embarrassing :)

Markat don't ever be embarrased about showing u'r emotions. It's funny but my mom has been gone 13 yrs and I still think Oh I have to tell her...then I realized I can't have her and my sister says the same thing cuz we both talked to her everyday if not seeing her. So I don't know how long anything takes for us who loose our parents at any age too.

And from what I understand LE can start at any time??? and it isn't pleasand--I got min around rads time and have had it since. I do certain excercizes and wear those silky stretchy things , sometimes I don't tho they are not comfortable to me--but nothing is hahaha

    girl me too

Well of course I broke the oxygen thingy...the connection from the hose to the connector (tank) in my middle of the night I stepped on and snapped it off....not happy with their customer service, no phone number to call cept on the bill of course, hope I get a survey, they are like 10 minutes from my home, have to wait for a driver to bring me a whole unit and the connect...so stupid you would think I am not the only person who has snapped it but of course it is me, lol am doing ok cause not moving around just sitting on my bed, waiting for the dr. to call me...

and am going to make bracelets to take to chemo for patients (women I guess) to have....with sayings like hope; faith;strength;courage;believe and other words you could think of that you would want....my way of giving back?

    how is everyone?

    I say girl...

Blondie, you have a big heart, thinking of others while in a battle....bless your heart sweet woman.

Markat, your mother really did a good job of loving you, otherwise you wouldn't miss her so much. It's perfectly ok to feel what you feel.  I am not sure you ever get over losing a parent that you were close to.  My sister crys at times about our mother, but then she is ok, and is able to function just fine in life.

Got through the weekend, am tired today, had chemo. My counts are good though. Going to another Brewer game tonight. DH couldn't find anyone else to take. It will be ok, ya just sit anyway.  Im taking ear plugs though. The clapping hurt my ear, I have a perferated ear drum that doesn't want to heal. (Had a bad infectiion back in Feb, right around my cancer dx)

    Take care everyone...Lori

Went to the lung specialist and he is confused as to why I can't breathe, so now on friday I have to do a swallow test with barium and an echocardiogram he wants to rule out a heart issue....chemo can cause problems with the heart, WTF, really.....got a new oxygen tank, hopefully I won't break this one, lol

    how is everyone?

    jazzygirl Member Posts: 11,974

Hi Blondie- sorry to hear they have not figured out the breathing problem. I did not have chemo but know it can impact your heart (my sister gets EKGs regularly since she had hers last year). I hope that is not the case, but it sounds like they have not figured out the root cause yet. I hope the oxygen is helping. You are having a very tough time right now and hoping you are doing better soon.

I am doing okay, been a bit tired this week but mostly because I have not been sleeping well or enough. Went to get a blood draw this morning and have a couple doctor check ups before I go on vacation in another 10 days. Hawaii here I come!

I agree it is nice to hear some positive news with the royal baby. I am curious to know the name, and have seen the list of possibilities. I saw a photo on line of them leaving the hospital today and that Kate looked really lovely despite all she just went through! Now it's time to settle into their new routines with their little one.

Cami- I love your dancing chandler picture! Too cute!

Teka- glad you are in Gettysburg. Went there as a child with my parents. Very special place.

I hope everyone else is doing okay this week. Wishing you good days.

Blondie remember I told u each Dr does what they do and no more and off u are to another Dr. which really sucks. It didn't bother me at all when I started cuz I knew I had cancer and I wasn't nerveous, but now I figured there would be less tests and Dr. instead they keep on adding more. So I just hope it's something stupid, cuz so many times it is. and all these Drs. have to be involved.

Jazzy 10 more days--woopwoop---u'r going to love it. And the weather there is so constant and beautiful--pictures.

Such a quiet circle of hermits.  Hoping each can cope, heal, feel better...

Happy for Britain's new George, and for yesterday's rain.

Hugs to all.  May your struggles be fewer.

    Hi hermits!

My sister finished her breast cancer treatment yesterday! I know many of you know this, but some of the newbies don't. We both had it at the same time, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 in July, myself with Stage 1 in Sept. She began last August with neoadjuvant chemo, had MX, reconstruction/lift, and herceptin infusions for a year. She says "I am now ready to get on with life." We meet in Kona, HI in another 9 days for some R&R after all that has been for us both this past year.

It has been quiet here in hermitland, and hoping folks are doing okay with their treatment, recovery, and more maybe enjoying a few of the joys of summer as you are able. May you all have better days ahead.

Three cheers for your sister's accomplishment/finishing!  And for your trip to Hawaii, sand, flowers, and just getting away!  Jazzy, have a great time!  Hope you both can just have a happy time, not thinking about bc, meds and procedures.  Enjoy!

Jazzy what a perfect way to celebrate the end of this crappy time--with u'r sister in HI--wow I didn't realize u'r sister was going with u. I'm so happy for u both.

Skittle it is quiet, but I'm still more of a hermit than a social butterfly.

I will be busy this weekend so that means Mon. and Tues. I'll be wiped out. No news on my sirgeon yet to date my surgery or anything, so it will be a little while before I know anything. Here we go again.

    Good Morning Hermits,

Its been a quiet week, with no major activity. (Husband is working this week)  He works seven days, and then is off seven days.  I went to my second therapy appt. Its nice to get some "pointers" on how to communicate.  Its the "I" statements verses "You" that work best. Seems that some people have tendency to get defensive during a conflict.

Feels like fall today....I actually like it, although it could be sunny.  Today I am going to bake and cook. (I need to do that more)   CC....it is interesting knowing you are into canning.   If I could have it my way, I would spend my life having a big garden and selling the produce, and canning. I have been picking beets out of our very little garden, and it felt so good. Plus fresh beets are yummy.....

Jazzy, can't remember when you were going to Hawaii, but have fun!!  Lori

Hi hermits- we had a wicked storm here last night that brought down trees, powerlines, flooded areas and more. Some winds clocked at 95 mph and they are calling it "Hurricane Green Chili" as they just harvested the first crop this week! Now one has to ask how you can have a hurricane in the middle of the desert? But there was lawn furniture and other things flying around my yard at one point and I thought it must be a tornado. No damage at my house, outside of some possible minor roof damage I will get checked out. One kind of scary storm that has not ever been seen in these parts before.

Lori- glad the counseling is helping. I think one of the benefits of that during this whole process is to learn how to talk to people about what we are going through.

CC- I understand running into old friends and it bringing up stuff. I still have people talk to me like I just had a bad case of the flu or something. I avoid talking to people about my health anymore, just talk to a very few close friends that get it, my sister and my doctors.

    The canning sounds wonderful!

Teka- sweet fresh corn! I think we must have some here now too, and you reminded me to look in the store tomorrow when I go!

Cami-I read you were having a busy and full weekend. What type of surgery do you have to have, for your back?

Hawaii trip is 8 days away. Been packing and getting ready to go in another week. We fly out and meet up in Kona on 8/5. I think I will take a surf lesson, on my bucket list!

Off to the pool to exercise this poor old body of mine. Hoping everyone is having a peaceful and restful weekend.
