LOL Teka, no, I was just trying to get caught up and not miss anyone. Now I see I am behind once again!
Too funny Jazzy! brrrrr
Dutch, that is a grueling amount of time to work! Glad you got some good rest.
Beautiful birds Jazzy!0 -

JazzyGirl, thank you sharing your story and also the suggestions about taking a car ride for Christmas lights and coffee (I love Starbucks!). I think I may do that one of these nights and have the hubby drive me0 -
Jazzy ... glad you checked in to let us know that the "going live" was going well ... hope the long hours end soon.0 -
I drove to my first support group meeting last night. It was a very small group but the people were warm and welcoming. Driving again, and at night which I am never fond of, has helped me to feel stronger. Prior to last night, I had only driven once since my surgery a month ago. Being retired and a hermit, it was easy too stay homebound.0 -
Sally I had to check where u lived but I guess the weather is OK there so good for u. I hardly have been driving at nite for a while tho I don't like the lighting on my eyes. U'll find u'l go out more and more as time goes on. Surgery is still new so be patient.

Cami, our streets are pretty clear although the gutters are still filled with ice and snow. We are supposed to be on a warming trend. I will be happy when the gutters and sidewalks are dry so that I can start walking again.
Teka, your post made me giggle as it reminded me of a time when I picked up a rental car and did not check how the wipers worked. I left the airport and ran into rain. I felt so stupid that I could not figure out the wipers while driving. Thanks for the good safety reminders.0 -
Hi Hermits,
Just wanted to check in ... pages behind .... lots of time at the moment to catch up as I have pneumonia. Another reason to hermit. Yeah! Little bummed about Christmas ... this was the year I was going to be healthy .... hah hah ..... guess the universe has a strange sense of humour.
Nice to catch up with you all. A little hard to keep up with the new people. Thanks to Cami, Jazzy, & Teka for thinking of me. Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy Holiday Season.0 -
Jane, I'm sorry that's why u stopped by, but it is nice to hear from u--Geeze what is it with u and Christmas. OK pay attention, u still have a couple of weeks, do everything u'r supposed to and take all meds and rest well. Like u don't know this, but just do it girl and kick it out of u.

OK now I'm LOL, I always preach and when I told u Jane to take u'r meds, I forgot my afternoon meds myself--Geeze I do it all the time.

Sally- I think going to a local support group is a great idea for the times you are up to going out. I have never sought out a local group, for privacy reasons, but having a local community to share is really helpful to so many. I have known many people with all kinds of cancer and the support groups have been so helpful to them.
Persephone- let us know about your rides and the Starbucks drink! I want details!
Last day of command center for the week. This will be a 70 hour week for me.0 -
Jazzy u deserve the weekend, I hope u get the full one. U've been working so hard and successfully u smart woman u.
Sally I've heard good things about these support groups so I hope it is for u. II never went to one, to be honest I never thought of it but I don't remember thinking about it. Oh well never go by me--it sounds promising for u and it's valuable so use it and let us know how it goes.

Sitting here by the fire, watching it gently snow outside. Love it! I got all my errands done yesterday so don't have to go out at all this weekend. I like that a lot too!
Jazzy, hope you get a good weekends rest. You have been working so hard, I worry you will be so tired you'll get sick.
sally, glad you found a local support group that you feel comfortable with. I'm sort of like Teka, I wanted my privacy locally re all the bc dx. Besides, all of you ladies here are a great support network!
Hugs to all my hermit friends!0 -
Gramma--I so agree with u this is a great group and u can say anything u want never TMI is worried about and I'm glad I found this group too. I keep on sticking around but I feel very comfortable here. I am on a couple of sites for some fun and 1 really more serious but I don't say much cuz I don't have info like they do and when I read it I barely understand cuz I never go into specifics with all this crap--maybe that's why when people ask me questions I really don't know answers unless I had it personally and as u know we are all so different. But emotionally I think we all have a lot in common.

Cami, I know the lecture is because you care. But, yes you should take your own advice!
Teka, no shot ... I am to young for it to be recommended here in Canada. Just a very minor cold that turned into a tickly cough, not much of anything and then boom it settled in my chest 10 days later. Husband and daughter had same bug (hubby brought it home) and they were fine. Might be due to underlying asthma that always flares up when I get sick.
Hugs to all. Birthday tomorrow probably a write-off, but at least I am here to celebrate another. Hoping to feel better for Christmas. Dr. said may be fatigued for 2 weeks to 2 months. Really, wanted to laugh ... think we here all know what real fatigue is ... tired but not cancer tired.0 -
Happy birthday bgirl!!!
Cammie, love you
Jazzy worried abou you you need to take time for yourself...
gramma, me too went out today, we are supposed to be getting more snow tomorrow, no worries for me love looking at it....
Hey Teka!!!
Sally glad the support group was an option, we have them around here, but not sure if I want to do it, come on here, so far that works for me....
switching chemos to Adriamycin, it is not what the dr. want me to be on but medicare won't pay for halaven until I have gotten "the red devil"bbl later hope you all are ok...

I went to a few support group meetings. The ladies had different types of cancer, and were all very nice. Maybe because I still had chemo fatigue or I'm such a hermit at heart, I decided it wasn't for me. One lady had been going for 10 years! Give it a try, you may really enjoy it and find it helpful.0 -
Hi hermits- work week is done. No more work until next Monday. Won't be as many hours, but will still be busy for awhile. I will also go in late next tuesday and have someone covering for me. First week of go live is a rough one. I am taking very good care of myself this weekend. But I also hear you and have had the same conversations with myself. Don't work too much, it can bring on things unwanted!
Bgirl- I got the pneumonia shot in my 40s here in the US due to my asthma. I think I am due for an updated one. I know sometimes they don't pay for some shots here and elsewhere due to age. My doctor wanted me to get the shingles shot but insurance won't pay for it. I think we are all at higher risk with these things with our immunity.
I hope you have a nice birthday what ever you do. Good to be grateful for another year to celebrate. Wishing you a good year ahead and many years of good health too!0 -
I asked about the shingles shot, as I just turned 65 last month, and did have chicken pox as a kid. I was told NO don't get it, it can CAUSE shingles, and it is nothing but a money making scheme by BigPharma. My new PCP did insist on the pneumonia shot.
So now I don't know what to think about that.0 -
I have been reading the posts today and thinking of all of you. I hope everyone has the kind of week end they want. I haven't decided whether to be busy or relaxed or a combo. Maybe I'll get ideas from reading here throughout the week end.
bgirl, Happy Birthday0 -
bgirl, Happy Birthday!!
Jazzy, glad things will slow down a bit for you.
Spookiesmom, thanks for that info on the Shingles shot. I had a very mild case of chicken pox as a child and a killer case of it as an adult! You don't ever want to have a childhood illness as an adult!! I have been thinking about the Shingles shot, but now I will do more research before I do it.0 -
Happy Birthday Jane

Cami, they really need a like button here. Thanks everyone for the good wishes. Birthdays are always something to celebrate.0 -
Hi hermits- happy to be to the weekend. I slept 10 hours last night and that felt SO good. Today I am going to spend most of the day at home, making some choc chip banana bread, listening to Xmas music, drinking some hot tea. A trip to the gym later for some exercise.
Speaking of the gym, I went on Thursday for the first time in a couple weeks and was pleasantly surprised to see I had lost 5 pounds! I changed my diet in Sept when the doctor said borderline diabetes and told me to reduce the carbs. The weight is slow to come off but that was the fastest change I had seen since I started.
Blondie- wow, Medicare is dictating what type of chemo you get? Not that it surprises me any insurance will try to control your treatment. Just disconcerning. Anyone you have that can advocate for you, like Teka says?
Teka- I like your story about going out shopping with your family and for some good eats. It really sounds like such a simple and enjoyable time you had. Any highlights from your outing?
I know there are storms in the midwest and northeast this weekend so be snug and secure my hermits. Cold snap is lifting here.0 -
TekaLOL
Jazzy I'm glad u got the rest u well deserved, now today just do what u want and it sounds like u are---Good for you.
I was just thinking--Yes, I know_ but with being told u have to have another chemo before what the DR. says, first it makes it much more expensive, then maybe that isn't the type that u need, and it's more expensive---I don't get it ???

I haven't had the shingles shot ... thanks for the info ... will ask MO about it for me when I see him in several weeks.
The snow is finally melting here after a week or more ... it seems longer. I want to be able to resume walking which is the exercise I can "encourage" myself to do best. I did dig out my Richard Simmons Exercise to the Oldies tape when the snow fell ... just for the foot movements ... my arm is not ready for the repetitive movement. However, I find too many excuses to skip it.0 -
Jazzy, Cami, and other picture posters, thanks ... I love the pics. They are smile producers.0
