Jazzy, congratulations on the reception of your story. Have you thought about submitting it for publication in a mining magazine? ... or a local Pennsylvania publication?
I have three boosts left before I am finished with radiation. I have been good about walking every day ... a short walk ... so I better get going if I want to keep up my record. Have a good week everyone.

Sally- thanks for your comments! Actually, our teacher gave us some good ideas for short story publications to submit to. Thinking about it.
You are almost done with rad treatments. I remember how glad I was when mine were over last March. Walking should really help you recover from the fatigue. Looks like you are already on the AIs, so now you just move to the follow up process after this? Life slowly returns to some level of normalcy once you are out of "active treatment." I hope you can find your way back to things you may have parked for awhile during all this.

Thanks ladies, I am grateful, and cherish every year I get......it is a journey.............and yes in the beginning you think......"I can't do this".......but somehow you find the strength to do what it takes......and you do.

Well I guess me calling the hospital last nite was in vane cuz Chevy wasn't there---who gets out so quickly, I know Chevy. What a woman, I hope the pain is low for her, but she wouldn't complain anyway.
Oh Ducky we're supposed to get inches more snow starting this morning???? How much can this sky throw at us.

Hi hermits- another week begins. I hope the snow lets up where you are, and we get some back here. We now have a large fire on one of the Pueblos here. Fire risk way up with lack of moisture this winter. We rarely see wildfires this time of year, and its not a good sign.
Happy President's Day to anyone here who works and have the day off!
I am heading into the client site after working remote last week. It was so good for me, I don't look forward to going back today. Four more months on this contract, I hope I make it through, things are unraveling on this project quickly.

Waiting for yet another snow storm.Thought I would get out of my cave and and see what the hermies are doing. I am glad to see some familiar "faces"
WOW Onco warrior that is awesome to hear about the drivers in your area. I cannot remotely say the same for drivers in my area. People who are trying to drive safely are "bullied" by others who have no regard for weather conditions and fellow drivers. Aggression and road rage have been so bad, I almost do not want to even drive to work or the store. Makes me retreat further as it really is getting that bad on the roads even in good conditions. My car slid twice on black ice last night and I saw 2 accidents this morning on my way home.
Anywho, maybe I will go beat a path to nowhere on my treadmill.

Sand.........yes Pa. drivers can be rude as hell............although I am a believer in "if you can't drive in snow......don't..........I can drive in it with my 4W drive Durango, but I know when to just stay home........have cancelled hair dresser appts., Dr. appts, and ate what was here to avoid going to the stores...............plus its not only driving ......its......WTH do you park once you get there.........snow is everywhere......and then you have the idiots in the parking lot who think they are out on the highway, or the Indiana 500.........

Hi folks- work was okay today. Lots of folks out with the holiday. One of the consultants on my team who was going to leave for another project has decided to stay! We all love him, so it was good news.
The snow goes on an on for everybody. It was almost up to 70 here today and feels more like April than mid Feb. I could smell the smoke from the wildfire near here today, made the valley hazy. Fire not good, too much snow not good either!

Going to work on tax stuff and watch the ice dancing tonight. I hear the US team is not to be missed!

LOL Ducky while I do agree with the "Don't go out unless you have to" most people don't subscribe to that. I work healthcare and have to make my way into work no matter the weather. It is downright scary to drive, as I said, and the over passes and even driving under them are at their worst with the subzero temps. There is no happy medium in PA. LOL Everyone thinks they own the road and seems little tolerance for those of us who are trying hard to make our way to work in a safe manner. I am getting fearful of driving. Something I always enjoyed. Makes me so sad., that it won't be me, but someone with no regard for an others well-being that causes an accident.
So, here I sit, in my cave until the weather breaks and I can go run wild by myself in the woods

I'll take Jazzy's name........Piper........I have a grandaughter who is a nurse in the NICU at Children's Hospital of Phila..........and another DIL who is also a nurse, but she has gone from hospital care to home health care, to doing coding for a company, and working from home........
My grandaughter graduated from Catholic University of America. in D.C., with a 4.0GPA in nursing........she was hired immediately by CHOP, after doing a 2 year internship with them.....she loves what she does, and the parent's love her, actually asking for her for their babies.......
I know how they are so needed, and have to go to work...that is why she bought an SUV......but yes, you ladies do have to watch for the idiots...........

Hi ladies- love the photos, Ducky.
Are the other ladies here in healthcare also clinicians? I do IT systems healthcare. Computer systems and operational project management for revenue management (meaning the coding/billing/claims and on down to finance part of the world).
Nurses are the best. I remember having a nurse when I was in the hospital for another matter who just seemed like an angel to me. They are the ones to take care of us the closest and watch out for our well being.

I also have other family members in the health field.......my son owns his own Physical Therapy Company, and my grandson graduated from Franklin and Marshall, going for his Master's degree while working in physical therapy with his father........proud of all of them.........I have 2 daughters in the Pharmaceutical industry, where I worked for 20 years too........guess medicine is in our blood...........

TY Ducky so much for sharing. Your grand daughter and I have a little something in common, just on opposite sides of the state.
CHOP is a great place to get experience for sure.
We have a lot of health care peeps in my family as well. My sissy has years of experience in oncology, is now a Nurse Practitioner and just joined a palliative care team at a facility near her. So our saying used to be "I would help them into the world and she would help people on their way out" Ironically, we went out to dinner with a coworker of hers and she made the same statement. I have worked in women and infant healthcare for a long time. Of course as glorious as some people think my job is, there are often times where it has been anything but "happy". While some clients are getting better at advocating for their care, still others are mean, demanding and rude.
And now you wonder why I came looking for a soft place to fall.
I had a rough 2 days at work. I am overwhelmed with the upkeep of my house and I feel like am drowning. So here I am......trying to regroup and collect my thoughts and happy to have some peeps who get 'It'
Ohhhhhh......I did the treadmill time, but when I was done I found it had snowed several inches. My son got a ride home from work and said the roads are so bad, people are driving on the opposite side because they can't see the lanes. UGH. Many municipalities in our area are experiencing a salt shortage.
At least I don't have to go to work until tomorrow night.

Your a credit to your profession Piper........it is a demanding job, and yes...........there are the mean, demanding, and rude............my GD says..........."Nan, thank heavens I deal with babies."
However I see it taking a toll on her.......she has not learned to leave the job at the hospital......she is so sweet, compassionate, and caring, each baby that doesn't make it, and there are many because CHOP sees and gets the worst..........is like something inside her dies............but she loves her job...........
Its funny but when they have a baby that no one can calm down, and who is suffering they say "Kaileen, as soon as you hold them and talk to them they become quiet...what do you have that we don't"

Oh Ducky, I think your grand daughter and I would work very well together. You need to use the nickname for her that I was given. "the baby whisperer". Plus she and I could be the "leen" nurses as our names are similar in that way. My sub specialty is working with infants exposed to opiates. It is a true commitment but I also have to remind many people and even the parents I am also an educated professional-not a professional baby holder.
hahaI worked high risk pregnancy prior to this position and was visiting on my old unit last night. I was completely drained but needed some happy banter before going back to my little pod. One of the nurses asked if I missed the adult unit (and in some ways I do) and said they missed me.
(Now, I am not always easy to get along with but I am very focused on the care of my patients)
And as I walked away, I could hear my old coworker say to the younger, newer gals....she is very smart and wealth of experience and knowledge.
I don't feel so smart anymore. I feel like my brain went on hiatus the last year and a half. It felt good though to have someone give me that compliment. I felt respected too. Us women aren't always very good at doling out the compliments.

Piper it's nice to read u--I'm sorry u'r feeling the winter so badly tho--not to much longer I hope---we all hope in these areas. But I don't have to leave my house that way I'm lucky. It's just nice to see u.
Ducky u'r girls are beautiful and how wonderful so many of u and u'r families (piper) are doing so much for people, it's so nice to hear. I have 2 nieces who are nurses, one in the nursery and the other in cardiac and they love what they do so much, and I'm always happy to hear that I feel like all those jobs are so caring for people and they are very difficult to do. And all of u are gifted to be able to, I don't even like putting a bandaid on someone else.
I'm having hard time keeping up-my work has been a little busy--we of course had much more snow today and again I cancelled my Drs, app't (3rd time) cuz of weather--so I'll call next week and see what the story is for this weather.
