Cami- tell us about your party when you are up to it!

Cami, I always wear some kind of pad just because I am old, but I had some pads left over from my hysterectomy and they will do for now. I think it's the steroids that immobilize my bladder muscles.

I want to hear about the party too. Living vicariously.

    Blondie, big gentle hugs.

Got some nice soaking rain yesterday afternoon which cooled things down and made for some beautiful skies last night. Took a 45 min walk in the evening and took it all in. This photo off a group page, but taken from the west side of town where I live.

This one is for Teka. My russian sage fully in bloom. It does not need much water to thrive, but with the monsoonal rains, it is going crazy this year. I pruned it back today along with a few other things. Gardens are happy with the summer rains.

Teka- I never thought to do that, probably because I have not ever had to prune it before. I just so happen to have a little batch of fresh flowers I got on sale last week at the store, and just added the cuttings to it. The russian sage has a nice scent to it too! Thank for the suggestion!

Teka- I had the choice when I had the house built for either gas or electric. I chose gas, having had both in the past and knowing you get things cooking fast with gas. My dryer is gas too as is my furnance and hot water heater. Most everything out west seems to be powered by natural gas. It was true for me when I lived in Texas too.

I grew up in the east coast where things were usually powered by oil (furnace) or electricity (appliances).

Taking that sublingual tab for abdominal pain regularly every 4 hours seems to be doing the trick. Of course I woke up in pain at 4:30am, but settled for now.

Count me in on the gas range. This is the first house we've lived in that has electric and I hate it. But then I don't cook any more, so I forfeit the right to complain. DH bought an induction cooktop but what a hassle!

Took a break from house prep drudgery to go to one of my favorite yoga teacher's classes. Been having some lower back pain and into the leg, I suspect a bit of sciatica since my travels back last week. Yoga really helps me with these things.

Back to packing of counter top and other fragile things. Making a pork roast too. Wish I could have you all over for some! Happy

Done! With sauerkraut and instead of potatoes like I usually do, I put in some seasoned squash.

Teka-  yes I do, especially when I have the time for it. Which is right now while I am in between contracts.

I have to say the sauerkraut and squash combo tastes better than I expected. Making all kinds of good food with all the goodies I got from the grocery store and farmers market in the past week.

Told a music friend I would stop by and see her group playing nearby this evening. But feeling lazy. The weather looks good tonight for her gig on the patio, so we will see.

Yum. Pineapple upside-down cake. Love it. And Jazzy, your pork roast looks scrumptious. I ate Polish sausage for dinner and it was surprisingly good. Cousin brought me a piece of carrot cake for dessert. I am seriously thinking about a glass of orange juice. Before chemo, I used to go through a couple gallons a week, but after chemo it seemed too acidic. Suddenly it's sounding good again. The last couple weeks I've been drinking apple juice, but suddenly it's cloyingly sweet. And I've completely lost my taste for ginger ale (plus, carbonation!). I feel like I'm negotiating a mine field taste bud-wise.

Corned beef, cabbage, parsnips, and carrot cake with Dream Cooler ice cream (who remembers Dreamsicles? our local dairy chain has it by the 1/2 gallon and it's my favorite)

We don't make our own sauerkraut, but being married to a Polish guy, we have made our own pierogies, kluski, and all kinds of Christmas stuff. DH is an awesome cook, having learned at the feet of his Polish grandma and great-grandma. We do tend to prefer the Bavarian style sauerkraut, a little sweet and with anise seed.

No, we've not made our own. But my cousin was married to a meat cutter, so she knows how to buy meat. And though she isn't a really creative cook,  but good solid meat and potatoes fare. Her sense of smell is almost non-existent, so seasonings are not always what we'd like, but she has such a sweet spirit that we eat whatever she cooks. We have a unique situation; Cousin's mom and mine were sisters, she's 14 years older than me, and after having her in the household for the last 3 years, I can tell you that neither DH nor I know how we'd get through this chit without her. He adores her, and they have a good time together even when I'm not around. Sending the two of them shopping can have unintended consequences. Last trip to Sam's they brought home a water cooler.

Our deal is, she gets her own room & bath, cable, smart phone, and in return she does all the shopping and most of the cooking, feeds the animals, juices for me and makes sure that I'm doing ok. Each of us thinks it's a blessing and that she is right where she belongs.

Good morning hermits. In my garden last night, a pair of lesser yellow finches. I have seen them in the russian sage before but was able to grab my camera and get a few telefoto shots this time!

    Good Morning hermmies.

Oh all this food sounds so good even at this time of day. My mom taught my DD her recipe for pineapple upside down cake and atho I'm a chocolate lover her cake is wonderful

Mags u are blessed with a perfect arrangement for all of u, it's so good for u especially now, when I went thru chemo etc I lived alone--except it didn't bother me at all, my kids were always around and my family and friends would make sure I had what I needed and I did have my own car then so I liked being alone with my Katie Kat. And my one GF owns a restaurant so if I had a taste for something, she's send it over for me. And My BIL took me to every chemo and picked me up after for 2 yrs. He was never lte. LOL And was always there and waited for my surgeries. I never wanted anyone there, but there were always people that came. But he was my Angel and when he'd be in the room they assumed he was my DH and would start something and we'd both yell no we're not married, and he'd leave and we'd laugh, cuz he's come into the recovery room (he wasn't supposed to) and when I woke up he'd always be holding my hand smiling it went well, til the last one and when I finally woke up the look on his face and he said u'r fine now, u'r fine---they couldn't get me to wake up, poor guy was a nervous wreck and u could see it, and then everyone was there. That's why I have to pass on some operations that would make me feel better, no one really wants to do it. Sorry I got carried away.

Jazzy did u make it out last nite? I love u'r energy, it translates good on here.

Hope everyone has a decent day..

Cami- no I did not get out that evening as planned. I was tired and felt virally later in the day. I think I have had a touch of something that left me a bit achy, with some D monday nite, and also feeling tired but it seems now to have passed. I have another music event on Thursday evening, and hope to get that if it does not rain. Out on a patio at a vegetarian restaurant I like and have not been to in awhile. We are having a lot of rain right now in the evenings (good for the land, not good for watching music outside!)

I have been a bit hermity this week and actually enjoying it. I am finally slowing down from coming off the contract, my travels, etc. I do have things I am working on here at home, but don't feel quit like socializing a lot. I have music friends who invite me to 2-3 events a week and rarely go to anything ever. Still not as social as I used to be, but that is my new normal. I am picking and choosing when I want to go out.

Gotta get moving to my day. Hope you all have a good one!

Hi all.  I am reading and thinking of you all and hoping the summer days are treating you kindly.  I am off to rest in my recliner as a tad bit of gardening wore me out ... not sure why ... and I have been grumpy today.  I did get my short walk in.
