We've got the A/C on tonite it's warm out and fans on and I;ve got my cover on. Chit I used to make fun of my parents--we all did---now I'm sorry hahaha U'd walk in their home and sweat right away---and she would say in Italian wait, my dgtr, it'll be u'r turn. hahaha I mom only spoke Italian when she wanted to make a point, my Dad too--when we were growing up we were not allowed to speak Italian even thos they did--my dad wanted to completely learn English and he never had an accent after a few years but whhe family came over they spoke Italian so we'd waiver--But I really don't know anything anymore. LOL

Hi hermits- home from yoga. I was tired when I went, felt better at the end as I always do. It is trying to rain tonight, just sprinkles for the most part on my side of town.

I have mixed feelings about the AJ news. Surprised to hear all she had been through, but I know the media has been talking a lot about celebrities who have had double mastectomies.

Teka- congrats on the new workout shoes! May your feet be happy!

Blondie- hope your next round of chemo goes okay.

Cami-hope you are staying cool with the A/C. Been very warm in some areas of the country this week.

Markat- we hope things are going okay for you and your family. Thinking of you....

Got some evening e-mails to do and then off to bed. Love to all hermits!

    ciao cami :D

my feet are a bit 'different' , too:)

have you tried ebay? ive gotten shoes off ebay before(they prob have some cool/ cute retro stuff too)--oh and etsy as well.

if youre not familiar with ebay shopping--just be sure to check feedback--helps weed out the questionables.

you're italian? very cool:) have you ever been to italy? i've been there twice--loved it!!!(first time we went to rome, florence, and tuscany--arrezzo and stayed in a villa. it's so peaceful in the country--loved hearing the rain against the rooftop--also had lightning and thunder which added to the ambience. we were there in november(good prices). we went again in 2011 and stayed in rome--with guided tours--was so wonderful. every place we ate at in italy was AWESOME(even on the autostrada--the 'truckstops' i would equate with fine dining. omg. fresh delicious and made with TLC! also the first time i tried gelato-yum:)

teka--true. dat. ive always wanted to say that heehee

jazzygirl--enjoy the rain--i love rain--so romantic --prompts me to write poetry, make tea, and watch a jane austen flick. :)

    love to all

And I love rainy days too so relaxing ad scary movie days for me. I love being alonetoo. I live with my dgtr--they've been having hard times too sp we decided we'd all have them together my SIL, and GS--but I'm at the other side of the house and it's nice enough but I'm a loner and when it does rain everyone here is like igggg, but me I close my door open the window and put songs on from the 70's or watch acary movies and I'm happy as alark.

  • chocolatesalad
    chocolatesalad Member Posts: 36

im definitely a loner too. I love my social get-togethers once and a while--but basically I like to be alone with my thoughts and just create. Scary movies, eh?  We just ordered THE BAD SEED. lol

yes gotta open that window to hear the rain:) but probably not wise to sit in a chair with the window it when watching a spooky movie lol

i like the psychological thrillers when it comes to scary--i don't like the blood and guts kind.

Glad you guys can all pull together, that's wonderful:)--sounds like it's working out well for all...

what kind of 70's music do you like?

  • camillegal
    camillegal Member Posts: 15,711

Hi hermits- looks like it did not rain much here last night in the end but some parts of the city got mositure. That is good, but my yard and gardens would like a good soaking rain. Monsoon season will start in another month or so and hopefully bring rain. We are still very dry here. Rainy days make me want to read, write, watch movies too.

I just want to say I love Italy and would love to live in Tuscany. I have been to Italy twice and the last trip there (2009), I went on a yoga retreat and we stayed in an italian villa in Montepulciano. We went to Sienna, San Gimminiano, Volterra, and so many other cool spots. I also spent 3 days in Florence on my own too. If I lived there, I could go visit George Clooney at his estate at Lake Cuomo too!

Time to get my day going. Hope you all have a good day.

I had some bad foot pain about 10 years ago (maybe more?) and my Mom suggested we try Easy Spirit ones and the difference was amazing.  It's the only brand I buy anymore and once you get your size figured out, they are pretty consistent.  I buy them online these days.  They come in a wide variety of sizes which was great for my Mom who wore size 10.5 medium.   I mainly buy sports or walking styles.  I'm not a dressy shoe person at all.

I'm doing well.  I've been focusing a lot on keeping my Diabetes under control.  It feels good to have one problem in my life that I have some measure of control over.  I sometimes feel a bit helpless on the cancer front though everything's going well there too right now.

My main hobby/pasttime these days is computer games.  It's a great way to just get away from real life problems and just lose myself in the game.  I  have friends online to play with and most of them don't even know about my health issues though the ones who do occasionally ask how I'm doing. :)

Jinkala Im glad u have something under control--do u take insulin shots? But I'm happy u'r chemo is going Ok for u and maybe that as as controlable, but it's still a big job taking both diseases to watch about.

Tek u and Jinkala have certain oupassed me in the computer department--but what I know (for know) is ok I'm just happy I have one I never would hae met any of u wonderful women if I didn't. So I'm good and I listen to the 70's and oldies on TV and sing and dance a little then I have to take pain meds. I used to love to dance-if anyone remembers dances with a Harves Room Ball winner and he just glided me across the floor and really made me look good. LOL

Wow.  Singing, dancing, keep smiling.  I never learned to dance.  (Too self-critical, self-conscious, hermity early on.)  But I love music.  (DD2 gave me an ipod shuffle, fully loaded with music for Mothers Day...  everything from Bruno Mars to Fred Astaire to classical.)  Laughing

Laurie-- (thanks!!  Love right back to you!)  how are you?  All ok?  Lots going on for you.  Prayers to lift and calm...

Camille--Write down your Italian family stories!!  You have a treasure for your family in your memories.  Joey's children can laugh and learn and enjoy.

Teka--what kind of music do you enjoy?  Online has it all.

Markat--we love you.  pm if there's anything at all, at all that can be done to help!!

bgirl, blondie, all... good thoughts your way.

On an advice note...  anyone have trouble with healing what once would be small issues?  Each bruise, scratch, bug bite, anything... seems to become a long-lasting and exaggerated issue.  (Played ball with dog, tiny scratch by eye is now blood red, puffed, awful.  Smallish bruise on shin has been there over a week.  On and on.)  sighJust don't know if it's se's or if I'm just old and tender...  Cool

Skittle this is goofy, I had a tiny little thin scratch on my arm, I noticed it whe I took a shower--that's how samll, now it's puffy higher longer everything too. I think it's our bodies from all the junk --really, I used to heal quickly, now it looks like it stays for a long time and bruises hold deep purple forever now and I don't even know how I get them. So whatever it is we seem to have it. LOL

    Skittle Member Posts: 395

Camille--at least I'm in good company!  We'll just look battered together.  Embarassed  (I used to heal quickly, too.  Guess I was just spoiled.)

  • Jinkala
    Jinkala Member Posts: 133

Camille - No - no insulin - it was caught pretty early so I'm on minimal drugs and a huge change in diet - I have to eat low carb to help keep it under control.

Skittle - yeah, things seem to heal slower - no idea how long that effect will last.  I'm about 6 months PFC now and I'm still seeing that.

My nails seem more brittle now too even though during chemo they seemed fine.  I think that the part that grew during chemo is finally out to the end and is just more fragile than normal.  I keep getting little cracks and splits in them and have been keeping them really short.  I've started considering putting some polish on them just for more strength.

@jinkala, my nails are doing the same thing. They split and crack for hardly any reason at all, and they used to be so strong  :(  I hope it's only aftereffects of chemo and they will be strong again once the affected part grows out.

My nails are weak and split easily, did not have chemo think it must be hormones.....

  • camillegal
    camillegal Member Posts: 15,711

Teka we could listen to the same music.

My nails were always weak and split easily--now they are so strong I have a hard time cutting them and filing them--they are so long, I have no complaints--but only since all this started has this happened I always wore fake nails cuz they were so bad, but 2 of my nail lift off the beds a little so they are mishapen and all my toenails are sideways for all this time. WTF I'm freaky.

Hey everyone. I'm sorry I've been MIA. I didn't realize how long it had been!!!

Yay for good test results! Those are the best!

Whaevah I've been so busy I haven't even watched our show from last week.

Mom is out of hospice and back in the hospital receiving more chemo. This surprised me, but it is her wishes. I feel like I haven't sat down in a month! Definitely not a hermit... but like a said before, at least they have good coffee at the hospital.

Huge hugs to all of you! I need new tennis shoes. Sauconys are so cute but my ugly assics are comfy. Love you all!!

Hi Markat- thanks for checking in with us. Keep us posted on your mom, she wants to be around longer I think. Good coffee means a lot during hard times. It is the simple things that often get us through.

MARKAT I'm so relieved to hear from u---just cuz u'r not a hermit, don't forget about us--I've learned so much from u and all of u--

But I'll tell u if we have a summer like last year I'm hermiting myself big time--way to how, I hope it's better this yr.

Joey and I are leaving Sat. afternoon and will be home sometime Sunday---Party time for us hahaha. My oldest DD has more of my sense of humor so we laugh alot at nothing. My youngest DD has a very dry sense of humor --she's really funny==so I'm lucky that way their both a hoot, Of course I insist I'm funnier

Thanks :) Camille have fun! These days are running together so quickly! My girls' last day of school is next week but my school still has 3 weeks :(

Skittle are you all out soon!

Jazzy you are so right. She just isn't ready. Hospice was really shocked that she opted for more treatment and our MO made it clear that it was her choice. The coffee lady remembered me :( She thought I worked at the hospital or did rounds there...Nope lol.

Oh, sweet Markat, so glad you're among us.  Worried for you and your mom.  Sounds good, though.  Prayers are with you!

School ends here May 31, so the "inmates" are restless!!  Lots of drama and goofy shenanigans.  (The best part, though, is I just learned I don't have to change classrooms.  That really helps on packing up the room and prep for next year.  And--dd2 did some amazing painting on my walls, so I really didn't want to leave it behind.  It's a fire hazard to have too many posters up, so I decided on paint.)

Does your school have a summer "feeding" program?  One of our schools always serves free lunch to anyone in the community.  The cafeteria ladies who want to can keep getting paid, and those who don't have the summer off.

Love to all.  Happy soon weekend.

My particular school does not (they should!) Our city has a lunch program at local parks though, so the children that can walk or probably take the city bus can go get a sack lunch. It is a volunteer program through a local food bank.

I'm glass you get to keep your classroom!!!
