wow Peggy good for you!! I am excited for you! I met my husband online - nearly 21 yrs ago on AOL... I checked him out before I met him face to face ... made him send (regular mail) me an actual picture of him with his address and made sure my best friend had all the information so that I could feel safe... today with cell phones, I think you could feel safer anyway...

Peggy, my only advice is don't rush into anything. Shop around. Wait at least a year for any type of commitment, no matter how wonderful the guy seems. And have fun!
Sloan and I are tentatively targeting the last week in September/first week in October for our road trip. We'll start the planning soon!

Brithael, good ideas. I'm not a church person nor theater but those are options for people who are.
IAmNancy, Awesome! I'm surprised at the number of people here who have established relationships through online sites. Things are very different now. I am trying to be ultra-careful.
Alice, Last week in Sept/1st week of October, sounds good. I'll contact the gals here so they can make plans to be with us! Can't wait. And, I really don't want marriage at this time. I am enjoying my new, fantastic home, and being responsible for only me. Some of my high school classmates have close relationships and still live apart - that is more what I envision right now. I'm in no rush. I just want someone to do things with.
Thank you all for the support!
HUGS!

Sara - Welcome. I'm Her-, but the chemo for Her+ goes for the cure. My friend is now considered "cured" whereas I am considered NED (no evidence of disease). So, ask your doc lots of questions! Also, like Peggy said, if you fill out your profile it can help the rest of us see if you are Er+ Pr+ Her+ (called triple positive) or just Her+. If you have to have chemo, that is not a bad thing if they can cure you!

You go girl!!! I met my hubby on a chat site 15 years ago.

Peggy, I hope you have a blast! I think it's great that you are taking that leap!

Alice/Sloan - I am in town until October 6th. One you have your Scheule set, let me know. If it works better I can drive to Spokane and meet you there

Katzpjays - We are going to have a PARTAY!! I'd love it if you would come this way, too. I've written the gals here and told them the little I know. It's possible there could be 6 of us BCO'ers!
Kacey, thanks! I wasn't doing well figuring out how to meet singles any other way. We'll see what happens!
HUGS!

Grazy, I know EXACTLY how frustrating it is to move an elderly mother--I'm right there with ya! My mother moved out of her home in Dec and has had a terrible time getting rid of stuff. Micro-managing every single item. She has brought so much junk over to the new apt that she has some of it stacked 4.5ft high x 6ft wide x6ft deep. Thats about the size of my bathroom! Her 2000sqft home is still filled with random stuff and i know that it will take at least 2 more years, at the rate she is going, unless she dies, in which case it will take about 3 weeks or less for me to take care of it.
Kasey, I'm glad you found a MO that you clicked with. Sorry you have to do chemo. I had it, too. It wasnt fun but it wasnt as horrible as i thought it would be. Hopefully you'll get through it with minimal SEs.

Poodles, too bad you can't just get rid of everything and not have your mother involved. And then sell the house. Things are never easy, are they?
HUGS!

Welcome Sara. Ladies, I wish I could join you. I am nearly out of time off at work and DH is tired of being the only one able to take care of our son. I look forward to pictures.

Thanks, Poodles. We've both been through the wringer this summer with our mothers, haven't we! I didn't find any creepy dolls in my mother's house though, haha! Mom moves next week and her house closes on the 29th and she's not in great shape to be put through that stress right now - I feel badly for her. The big garage sale has happened though, all three of us kids have removed our treasures, so it's just last minute stuff to wrap up - if she'd just chill and not feel she needs to tend to every single tiny detail, she'd probably be in better shape stress-wise (and I wouldn't be on the verge of a 'breakdown', haha!). Unfortunately she ended up in Emerg today with abdominal pain that she's been pushing through for a week - and trying to hide from us - so big brother took care of that one, thank goodness, while I tended to my daughter after her wisdom teeth removal this morning. Up next, my Zometa infusion tomorrow. It's always something this month.
Have a good evening. I'm hitting the couch and watching the Olympics. Gotta cheer on our boy De Grasse in the 200 tonight!

Alice, I LOVE your new avatar! Those frames and that hat really reveal your beauty.

Alice, I agree 100% with Sandy. Looking great!!
Molly, wishing you less stress.
Grazy, At least the end is in sight for your mother's house and stuff. It's hard to let go of control of things even though it drives you crazy.
HUGS!

Anybody know if I should get a flu shot before chemo? I'll be starting within the next two weeks
0 -
Definitely get the shot! This is just about the right time for it and any other immunizations for which you’re overdue (TDaP, pneumonia), since it’d give immunity time to develop and you would go into chemo with a healthy immune system. But don’t take my word for it: ask your MO and primary.

Thanks ChiSandy, will do

I got some great news today! My Oncotype score was a 0. My reoccurrence probability with tamoxifin is 3% and it's 6% without it.
Decision time! I'm thinking I should try it, see what my side effects are, and if I don't have many continue taking it. If I have a lot of side effects, then reconsider.
Thoughts??

excellent news on the oncotype, t! I think your try it and see approach to tamoxifen makes sense....as I t think Peggy often reminds us: no need to assume you will have problems.
Hugs,
Octogirl

tsoebbin-awesome Oncotype score...whew!Nothing to lose by trying Tamoxifen...you can always stop if you experience SEs.

tsoebbin, great news on onco score! I agree with the others, try tomoxifen & see how goes. Been on it 5 weeks & so far no noticeable side affects.
Moondust, love your new pix too. Hat is adorable on you!

Traci, fantastic!!! To put things into perspective, even with letrozole my recurrence chances are 8%. (11% with tamox. instead). 6% without? If I were you I’d try the endocrine therapy first but stop if you get any troublesome side effects. (I have to stick with an AI for at least 5 yrs, maybe 10, unless the side effects become truly disabling and there’s no alternative).

Sara, welcome to the group. Waiting for your plan of action against cancer is the hard part but then suddenly everything starts happening and you will be extremely busy seeing doctors going for treatments and so on. Good advice from Sandy and Peggy. Keep us posted hugs ((( ))).
Tbalding, yes it was the AQS show. I have lots of UFO's too but I still bought more projects! I am currently working on a quilt from the latest Block Book from Missouri Star. We travel to Arizona every winter and I'm hoping to convince my hubby to stop in Hamilton Missouri. I hear they even have a man's cave store so the men can relax while the ladies shop.

Traci, that is FANTASTiC news! Way to go!
HH, I notice that you want to go visit our California girls. Now I'm all hurtSpokane doesn't have the pull that SoCal does?? (What an idiotic question!). I don't blame you. Maybe next year I'll be able to go to San Diego to visit my DS and DIL and get up to LA to visit our BCO'ers.
PlanB, I promise to post all the gory details of my date.
TSoebbins has also come up with a possible date for me through her father. Now that sounds good since he is known to people I know! All I have to do is go to the street rod show at the fairgrounds Saturday (by myself since I think Friday date may want to take me). I'll do that! Whee!!!
HUGS!
