Wren, I saw it mentioned on the Jillianna website that US insurance pays for these micro bead ones every 6 months. I don't really know anything about your insurance, but that may be worth investigation.
I think, if this option isn't something that interests you, maybe getting a silicone in March that is a smaller size may be a good option. I have size 7 and 8 in my silicone prosthesis and actually use them both with different bras. You can't tell the difference in size because some of the bras are actually a lot firmer and the smaller one fits inside them better. I am lucky that I can wear any, and all kinds of Foobs now, I don't have any residual pain, and none of the different weights bother me. I do like to wear the weighted micro beads with the Marika crop sports bras when I am casually dressed, which is most of the time these days, but I wear the heavier silicone in Mx bras and Valletta Camisoles when I am better dressed.
I should mention, for the benefit of the new ladies who might think I am a mad Diva buying heaps of unnecessary Mx stuff, that I am, a mad Diva, no, just kidding!!!! I have bought most of my Prosthesis on Ebay for outrageously low prices, sometimes I have had to buy a pair, so have sold the extra one to one of the ladies at my Pink Ladies Group, which halves my already super cheap purchase. The FoobMoire is a built in cupboard that was the perfect storage place for my new acquisitions and was named "The FoobMoire", by one of our girls here.
In Aus, we only get a $400.00 rebate every 2 years for a silicone Prosthesis, which is why I have acquired a range that cover all bases for me. I couldn't manage on just one Prosthesis for all occasions. I also don't think there is anywhere near enough "Foob" information out there for women who have just found themselves in this predicament. I sure didn't know how many different types were available till I started to really research it. It is all trial and error, and what suits me, won't necessarily suit the next woman, but there are many options, and not all are expensive.
I know I keep banging on about these Marika bras, but the crop style that has the most coverage with a cheap, weighted, micro bead foob is so comfortable I completely forget that I am missing a body part. At $9.00 in the sales for the bra and about $29.00 for the foob it's less than I would have paid for a bra in my "other life!"

I agree with everything you say gB, but if the stats are 50/50 as reported here earlier, then there are a lot who are having serious issues, way too many.
Recon was never on my radar either, but I took a look at some of those pictures too and knew it just wasn't for me.
I am pretty certain that if I was like you and had a BMX, I would be happy to be Flat and Fabulous with the Foob option if I wanted it. I have no issue with the way my chest looks when I am naked, and I am always being told how surprised people are, that I am a Uni because I've found the clothes that work for me without that dreadful "fall forward" issue that bothered me, all the time, in the early days.
Well, I am sorry that I have written a novel again girls. I am catching up for lost timeLOL

Yes, that is not a good %. I didn't remember reading a 50/50%. If that is the case, that is awful!!

Wrenn and grammab thanks for the advice. I will checkout the reconstruction site. My PS thinks once my body is healed I can try again...... Ugh. It just sucks having to go through all of this. I may need to rethink this outcome. It is just all so overwhelming!!!!! Thanks

Spookiesmom I live in Fort Myers. What part of FL are you from?

I'm near Clearwater. Reason I asked, there is a bunch of us in the Tampa area we do a lunch and gab fest about every 2 months. You are welcome to join us!

Ariom, my mistake on the weighted micro... will have to keep my eyes open for that one if sold on ebay.. I am becoming more dissatisfied with my foobs,, maybe because I can get 2 new ones now with insurance paying, but I need to wait to get to the good fitter and shop which will probably be 3 months yet, when I go for my mammo. Would love to get a good buy on ebay, guess I need to spend more time there looking. But I dont have room for a foobmoire, wish I did.
Welcome togetherness, I am not any value to advice on recon either, I only know 2 women in my area that had recon and one had them removed many years ago and the other is fairly new but had a little trouble with one leaking but it got fixed and she seems to do fine. I just dont like more surgeries and it would have required alot of travel for me as I am a long ways from Mayo to be going back often. I dont mind and am so grateful to be within a days drive of that great facility but still a long drive. But in some ways it would be nice too, but I guess either way we go they are still fake boobs...Good luck with your decisions.
Wonder if Idesim can take a time out from shoveling snow to check in today?? was watching the news and Boston is getting dumped on! We are in a blizzard watch but only 1-2 inches of snow predicted but the kicker is the wind blowing at 35 mph, and on this flat prairie that creates blizzard conditions and travel isnt advised, well I wasnt planning on going too far anyway... stay safe idesim. hope the power stays on, we just bought a portable generator in case of losing power.
So worried about Bobo... hugs to you and all.

Hi Gunnergma. It means fake boob. Welcome!

hi, a foob is a breast form. f for fake and oob for boob... we are a silly bunch here! Welcome gunnergrand! was your mx dbl or single, I had my left removed. How are you doing? This is a great board to come for advice, to vent, swear, or whatever makes you feel better, I dont know what I would have done without all these wonderful gals here, the best therapy in the world, nothing is off limits so please feel free to join us!

Spookiesmom not sure if you are in the same Tampa group but I met someone on the boards name Mondayschild and she invited me to a group outing of women in Tampa. I would luv to come if I could ever get to feeling better. I wouldn't mind the drive at all. I could use some support with fellow sisters. Can you let e know when the next one is and maybe I will be in the healing stages and can come if it is on a weekend.

Hi Gunnergrandma, and Welcome!
All so new for you, I hope you're doing well. Don't be afraid to ask anything here. We are an open for anything group of girls and although we are all fairly new to this, there is a a lot of experience here.
I am assuming you have had a Umx or single mastectomy and haven't reconstructed? There are several of us here who are the same. If we can help in any way, just ask!

No problem ndgirl! I wouldn't expect anyone to keep up with my collection LOL, but this one is worth a look, if you like a looser packed, but weighted form. It is more like a small, smooshy bean bag than the tighter packed ones we have.
Very quiet today. I hope everyone is safe from the weather.
I wonder how the girl is doing? I am hoping that the clean up and the right antibiotic has kicked in and she's starting to feel human again. What a dreadful experience this has been.
Very cool here this morning, but sunny with strong winds. I am catching up with some friends this morning, but will be back later o see if anyone has been posting..Take care M x

Hi everyone,
Gosh this thread moves quick! Hope you are all coping with the snow and bad weather wherever you are. I see NYC is now under snow seige, I have a friend whose been over there for Xmas and I don't think she's back yet and not sure if she's going to get back here in a hurry!
Hi Togetherness - so sorry to hear about your infection. I had a severe infection after having temporary implants put in and if I had had the choice to have the both removed at the same time I would have, as I ended up having to have another op to get rid of the remaining one as the skin sparing mastectomy I had had couldn't be saved. They needed to take the skin. Another reason I wanted the other one removed was because the scars if I decided on recon, meant they would have been different on each side and my ocd part of me couldn't cope with that thought! I have always intended to have a diep recon later this year but I have gone off the idea after all the horror stories I've read! Please think carefully and do what is right for you sweetie.
My PS said that the temp implants she put in for me originally, had only had a 50% success rate so the odds were never good sadly! I needed to try though as I didn't want to be flat from the off.
Ariom - I do love the thought of your foobmoire, you certainly have so many bits and bobs to make you look gorge!!!!!
Gunnersgrandma - Hi there, it's the best place ever this is! They are all awesome and have made my decision to go flat a heck of a lot easier.
Zils - Perhaps I should fly over and help you clear the snow, that'd be great exercise for me!
I've posted the photo below because I wanted to show you the most beautiful rainbow we saw yesterday. We spent a while in our beach hut and had bacon sandwiches and sat in the winter sunshine. It was lovely and relaxing!
We have the most beautiful view of the ocean on the other side. I'm so lucky where I live.
Also in other news I've done a few miles on the treadmill but progress is slow!
I'm so glad to hear that Bobo is making a bit of progress. She's been in my thoughts as are you all!!!!!

Bobo just got home. Picked up a virus while there but infection under control now. Will post when she's up to it. From DLLP.
Yea!!!!
I'm in Ohio. Roads clear. Just cold. Going to barn tonight and tomorrow. Have to dress in layers. Kids happy.
Dishwasher broke with a full load, of course. Now have a very expensive drain rack. My OCDC is that the house must be clean before I leave on a trip.
Washed all the dishes, made the beds, did laundry and boy helped with trash. Floors still waiting!
Should sleep well tonight!
Welcome all. Yes these boards are a lifesaver. Ask away. I didn't have recon. One surgery enough for me. Have no problems being bald or flat. May feel differently this spring when I feel better. Kids and husband don't mind but I was barely an A so it's not a big difference.

Yay so glad Bobo is home.

Hi all! Checking in late as I wanted to get the last of the Christmas stuff packed away!
Glad to hear bobo is home and infection under control. Not so glad she picked up a virus! D@mn hospitals!
Welcome gunnergrandma! Not so happy you had to join us, but glad you found us.
viv, gorgeous rainbow, and its a double!! I get those double ones often in the early spring against the hills to the east of me. They are just wondrous. Glad to hear you're making progress on the treadmill. I need to get back on my elliptical.
Zills, thanks for the update on bobo. Sorry about the dishwasher! The timing on those sorts of things is never good!!
No snow here or predicted even for several more days. Its mild, high 30's°F, but wind is blowing making it feel much colder. Take care all of you ladies back East that are getting all the snow. Stay warm and safe and don't overdo on the shoveling. Yeah, I know.........
Hugs

Yat, Bobo is home, so relieved, I know that sepsis is a VERY serious condition, so glad she skipped that over.
Viv.. beautiful! love the pic. be a long time before I see a rainbow here
Good to hear from Zills, glad you are safe, our weather has warmed up a bit for only for 2 days and guess what?? next Monday wind chills are to be -40-60 below!! so Idesim, you will be above 50 and I will be below!! It isnt storming much now tho but may come later. Minnesota gov. has called schools off because of bitter cold. Dont know if ND will.
I am SO EXCITED! just booked a flight for San Diego to spend 2 weeks with my friend! she just retired from teaching and her dd lives there and she found her a place to stay for a month and asked me to join her for awhile, as her dh doesnt want to go.... men! but glad he didnt, cause we will have more fun together!! She is just like a sister to me. nice break from this cold.
Spookiesmom and together how nice you can meet!
I will have to keep a look out for that foob M, sounds like something I would like.
Take care all.

Warning its an intense SWEARING AND SWEATING Day here in Colorado...........................
Hi all !
Bobo - SO GLAD YOU ARE HOME
Welcome Gunnergrandma,
Zills - Home crap breaking down just sucks !!!
Ndgirl - I love San Diego the trip sounds awesome
Idesim - Are there no 12 year old kids to shovel that need extra money? Don't get the damn claw !!
GrammaB - I want your weather snow moving in tonight.........ugghh Also what is your EBAY seller ID if you don't mind? Especially if you are selling any Marika ..................
M - Ok I still cannot keep myself from laughing . My DH says I hoard the weirdest shit ......... I was imagining telling him I am now going to get and fill a foobmoire............. I still have not gone to a fitter and I still don't know that I will. I have my fake ones from Mary , but after that cat batting incident I have not even worn them
Wren - Do the cats leave your foobs alone ?
Viv- great picture
So I had my damn MO appointment today . I will try not to swear much.......... I think a lot of you know I was diagnosed with BC and then Lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes ) at the same time . So 2 independent types of cancer . BC treatment is just the ongoing Tamox and bloodwork. The lymphoma treatment will be bloodwork and pet scans every 6 months unless I have more symptoms (then chemo) So for the 1st time today I really got pissed. Thinking I went through the BMX to avoid all of the agony of crap mammograms every 6 months only to trade that for pet scans and more unknowns................ The interesting part was when the MO said , you are sure you are not considering recon ? I said absolutely not but why do you ask. She said she could not support that with my diagnosis given the high rates of failures and rejection. So I will accept what lies ahead (whatever that might be) and know that I am still very lucky compared to many .

ndgirl, that sounds like a great trip. Very cool it will be just you two gals. Great place to get away to from where you live.

Fiaranch, I sell minerals and crystals for healers and collectors. Crystalline Rainbows is the name of my store. I don't sell anything off topic in that store. I have another eBay id that I would use if I decide to sell any of my foob or mastectomy bras. I only have 3 pieces of Marika that didn't fit, I am going to take them to a local consignment shop instead of paying all the fees to eBay/PayEnemy. The foobs/bras need eBay's exposure.
Sorry you didn't get quite the outcome you expected at the MO appt. This d@mn bc/cancer gets us coming and going! ((hugs))

yea!!!!! Bobo's home!!!! All of you with snow, take it easy. No heart attacks allowed!

grammaB , Pay Enemy is so freaking appropriate sometimes hardly makes it worth selling on ebay

Hi Viv, another water lover! Great pic of the double Rainbow. I live by the water as does ldesim.
ldesim, no claw, but watch your back with that shovel!
Zills, thanks for the great update. I hope you are all well! Bloody Dishwasher, what a pain.
Doing the Happy Dance for Bobo. So glad she's home, but now a F'ing virus, this is just too bloody shitful for her. I just hope that all the drugs are kicking in and kicking that infection out for good. What a time she has had.
ndgirl, that's the kind of holiday I love too. I love to get away with a girlfriend and do just whatever we please. Two weeks, is fantastic! I went to the San Diego Zoo once and I think I caught the train from there, to go to Tijuana, that was fun, someone stole the ring right off my finger!LOL
Fiaranch, I don't blame you for swearing, that's a shitful Dx to have, and all the extra treatments and tests are a pain in the ass. Don't worry about "going off" here, we'll listen to any venting and swearing you feel you need.
I was very interested to hear your response from the MO about the failure rate of recon. I think these real figures are kept quiet, Viv reported lousy percentage rates of failure too. Not good enough, Medicos!
Glad you get a laugh out of my Foobmoire. I sent a picture of it to the Australian office of Amoena, they loved it and sent the pic around the office. I am actually "Test Driving" a new Prosthesis for them as we speak! I'll write a review about it for them in Feb.
gB, you remind me to do something with the tubs full of Marika I have to list on Ebay too. Ebay is more of a Winter "Sport" here in Aus. I find there doesn't seem to be much action in the Summer. I missed the whole Winter market last year.
Lunchtime for me..chat later...M x

Hi everyone Recieved a call from bs early this morning as the pathologist called her with results Looks like DCIS with no invasion but are doing one more test to ensure this diagnosis as they are recommending no further treatment and want to ensure no displaced cells I did the happy dance and then thought how bizarre In the past six weeks I have been diagnosed with bc and had a mx and I am doing a happy dance WTF??
0 -
Hey TB! I have everything crossed for you, for Pure DCIS!
That was my Dx too. I totally "Get It" I was doing the Happy Dance after having my Mx too, in fact I was doing the dance in my Surgeon's car park waiting for Colin to pick me up. I had gone there during the holidays to have my infection, cording and seroma checked. My final Pathology report had arrived that morning. It was actually a good thing that I had to go back to have that infection looked at because I got my results a couple of weeks early. Colin and I both cried in the car! M x

TB I totally understand!! I went a little more drastic with a BMX when lumpectomy was discussed. Result from prelim path , no other treatment needed and I sure was doing that same happy dance too!! It took me almost a month to get my final path report as it was sent out for a second opinion from Beth Israel Hosp. Originally dx'd with DCIS with microinvasion, came back IDC, but it still ended up with no further treatment needed.
Congrats on the good outcome. I know it feels weird, but in the end it is a good thing!!
0 -
Good news TB,totally get it how you feel! I knew all final reports the day after surgery, remember the bs calling my cell while I was on the road to my ds,s house, they told me right after mx what they thought but needed it verified. Dcis is the best dx you can get if we have to have this crap!
