Where to sleep-DH wants to get a new recliner for me!  The one I have is a bit worn and he wants to get one for me that is like the one in the chemo room!  I keep telling him it isn't necessary.  Or is it?

Get a recliner that you are comfy with! Not him. I think most of us spent the first few nights in ours, if not more. It will be your BFF for a long time.

Hi all! Grey and dull today, but the house is so quiet with everyone gone. I have 3 more, driving me nuts sand fly bites! I did the hot water thing and it seemed to work, but I must have scratched in the night and fired them up,

Those of you in the very cold parts are making me shiver at the thought, and blizzards are so foreign to me.

Zills, I like Aloe too, and I often use pure shea butter for very dry areas. My all time favorite body  lotion is the lotion made by St Tropez the tanning company called Tan Optimizer. I don't know if it is still available but it was the only thing that would keep skin supple after being in the hot Aussie sun and was full of natural oils.

sgc, I only had the Umx, and SNB, but I slept in my bed from day 1 without a problem. I have a recliner that is part of my living room couch, but I found it harder to get out of, than the bed.  Some of the others have reported satin PJ bottoms were great for sliding off the bed. Posting to read back..M x

Hoping to have seen some updates on bobo. Gosh I hope she is feeling better!

Zills, I'd take some of that cold and snow here! No sow any where in our forecast! :( Yeah, I would have expected the kids wouldn't like black eyed peas. Cute about the boy eating them like a bird!

ldesim, I'd take some of your snow too! ;) It is a rather unusual card, we'll see how it pans out over the year. Will be in the bag for both you and SGC this month and any one else with appts.

Granwe, hoping for some updates on you and OG. Miss your voice.

SGC, I bought a recliner to sleep in but ended up being able to sleep in my bed from the first night. One trick is slippery satin PJ bottoms. It really helps you slide out. I just put pillows on both sides to keep me from rolling over. Not that it was much of an option with 4 drains pinned to me! I took lots of naps, still do, in the recliner though so it got and still gets plenty of use! But as Spookie said, you need to go and sit in them to find the one that is most comfy for you. I must have sat in 50 before I found the one that was "just right".

Spookie, love the blue bird!!! I specifically put the bird seed under the fir trees so it doesn't get covered with snow.  Yeah, my birds are spoiled!  But they are great entertainment for my indoor furbaby.

    Hugs!

gB and I posting about slippery PJ's at the same time!

Meant to say the nesting thing is all part of the deal. I can't remember ever being more driven than when I was waiting for the surgery.

I am in the bag for any appointments coming up too.

gramwe, where are you? Get that tablet charged, we need some funny Christmas stories.

Bobo still off the grid, I do hope she is feeling stronger and the infection has left her. It's just been so long.

I am going to get stuck in to the laundry this morning, just couldn't be bothered yesterday. Two lots of bedding to get done and back on for the next onslaught of visitors. There is a bit of time before any more arrive, but I don't like leaving it till the last minute, something else always comes up.

Spookiesmom, we have just had a look at the Bluebird, that poor birdie!

I have been watching the parrots arrive to check out the Fig tree. They come and they go, not ready to attack yet, but I bet that when they begin to ripen we will have an explosion of color that knocks your socks off. There are hundreds of bright green yellow and electric blue birds that descend to eat all the Figs. They have already hit the pear and apple trees. They leave the stalk attached and just eat the fruit all around the core!

Take it easy everyone, Zills be careful on that drive....M x

1st round of shoveling done.. my legs are numb.. my own stupidity for not changing out of work pants before going out.  It's nasty out there and the actual storm hasn't even hit us yet.  They said we'd get 2 inches today, but we already have about 4.  It's supposed to be -10F with the windchill tonight.  At least I got a long weekend because I am not attempting to go in tomorrow regardless if they close the office or not.

Sgc, if you use your bed, make sure you have tons of pillows to prop yourself up with while you have the drains and yes slippery pjs will be your friend.  Recliner is a good idea too.. you'll be taking plenty of naps :)

Spookiesmom, love the angry bluebird lol.

M, sorry you got more bites.. I hope those F flies have a short life span.

GrammaB, I'm sure you'll have more than enough of your very own snow this winter :)

Idesim, sounds like you are getting hit with the storm! we are to get a little tomorrow but warmer weather which of course brings some snow, but we arent to get much maybe 2 inches.

Sgc.. slippery jamas are good, I used them all the time, as for the relciner, never used it one time, I had uni like Ariom, but it was bed for me always. Nesting is normal for us, I made meals and froze them, washed everything I could, shopped for everything I thought I would need. Turned out I didnt need to do all of that, but I felt the need.

Spookiesmom, cute picture, I fed my birds this morning, wonder how they can survive this frigid weather, black-capped chickadees cant wait for me to get out there with seed.

Hope you dont drive Zills, I hate icy roads.Take caution.

Checked in to see if anything from Bobo, wonder how things are?

Hi ndgirl! You wouldn't believe what I found on Ebay! Do you remember I told you of the Jillianna Micro Bead foob? It was designed and distributed by a woman who spent many years as a prosthesis fitter. I actually found my first one on Ebay, and wear it often in the Marika sports bras. Well, I just found another one from the same seller, brand new with tags and in my size for $29.00...Bonus!

Isn't it funny how we all did the whole nesting thing and all that preparation before surgery, and then found that we didn't really need to do most of it. You're right though it kept us busy!

Just on my way out to do a bit of pantry replenishing! Thinking of you all in the cold and scary weather, please be careful! M x

Hope everyone can stay safe in the blizzard conditions. We had a blizzard in Oklahoma when I was in 4th grade. It drifted completely over our north facing house. Dad and my uncle went out a back window and dug a path to the front door. When we went out, the snow was way above my 6'2" uncle. No school for a week because the buses couldn't get thru. We made igloos and snow forts and the whole neighborhood was out playing. Heaven for a kid! Probably really scary for the grownups.

    Yes Zills, avoid icy roads.

Wish DLLP would check in with someone. I imagine Bobo is not feeling up posting or texting.

I heard from DLLP. They have isolated the bug that is causing the infection. Antibiotics should kick in soon. She's going to spend the night with her. Yea! Bobo is eating some. Hope she remembers the probiotics. May go home on Sat.

I haven't heard from Bobo today yet... I will text her a little later on and see what's going on.

Ndgirl that is so cute about the birds.

    Great deal M!!!

I'm worried about my stray..hope he found a nice warm dry place to wait out the storm.  We have an old rabbit hutch that Joe modified for him with a purr pad and a heat lamp and lots of hay, but he won't use it, probably because it's too close to the house.  He'll wait in it in the morning for his breakfast.. but that's about it.

It's really nasty out there.. hoping we don't lose power!

Ariom, Yay you found another good foob! I dont really use my microfiber one much, it just rides up too much, think I prefer the silicon with a little weight. I tried putting some weights in but made a mess when I opened it. Glad you enjoyed your company, now get some rest! I have been doing an indoor walk on you Tube with Leslie Sansone, I like it cant walk too long outside now, I did walk to the office today which is only 2 blocks but need more than that.

Stay safe idesim, was just watching news and seeing people shoveling the snow already. Hope you kitty is ok, the strays around here stay in our little heated house and the neighbors. Feel sorry for them but they seem to make it, their winter coat is thick.

So glad to hear Bobo has the infection in line, but how can she be ready to go to work on Monday? hope she rebounds quickly.

Stay safe all of you in the blizzard's way!

Yay, thanks Zills for the bobo update.  I can't imagine she will be able to work on Monday, hope she has gotten things worked with her boss.  Also glad to hear she is eating some too!

Airom, did you get the foob on eBay.au or eBay.us?  I just looked and only one result came up, they cost $32.95.  I'd probably not wear those either though.....

Hello I am new to this forum and just needed a place to vent.  Not sure if this is the correct spot but here it goes.  I had a dbl masectomy on July 9 th with TE placement.  Had chemo which has compromised my immune system to fight infection.  I have been in the hospital once with cellulitis and it is back.  I had my exchange on November 5th and the recovery was not good.  I kept popping stitches and leaking fluid. So had surgery on December 20th to take the implants out, have drains put back in and the pocket cleaned out and the implants placed back in.  Well to date I am popping stitches again, draining, breast is red, temp.  Went to dr today and he said that I will need to have the implants removed and let my body heal.  One is infected and the other implant is fine.  So I asked if he would remove both and he didn't answer or I didnt give him time until I had another question. What would you recommend? I was given antibiotics again to take over the weekend and see if it helps with the redness of the breast. I have fought for six months to get to this stage and know I am left to deal with this.  No breast is for some people and I admire that but that was not my goal.  So really need to think of other options once my body heals. Thanks so much for reading this.  Much healing to all of you!!

ndgirl, this is the "weighted" bead form, it's more smooshy than Mary's which are very light and are packed tighter. It weighs about half what the silicone weighs, so it sits really well in the Marika crop top pockets and it doesn't ride up.

gB, I just went back on, I bought it on US Ebay and the $29.00 was the dollars converted to Aus. It was $26.00 or best offer. There is only 1 left in a small size. I was so lucky to get my size for that price.

Hi Togetherness, sorry you have had such a rough time of it.

I don't know too much about recon, but I imagine there will be a waiting period until you can have recon again.  The only advice I can give is what I think I would do in your position.  Since it appears that you want breasts, I would leave the good implant alone and wait until its safe to try recon on the infected side.  You can always wear a "foob" until such time as you can finish the recon.. but why mess with the good implant if it is not necessary?  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that this latest round of antibiotics does the trick and you won't even have to worry about this decision!!

I had texted Bobo earlier, but haven't heard anything back.. hopefully she is getting some rest.

    Hi and Welcome Togetherness!

Ouch!!! I am so sorry to hear that you are going through all of this dreadful stuff too. Our Bobo has been having a really rough time with infection after a BMX and recon. We are pre occupied waiting for news about her.

I am really sorry, but I am not one who could give any advice about what to do. I never considered recon. I have been reading about so many women having the same infection issues and failure of the implants. It is truly unbelievable that so many have to go through this and I doubt there was any warning prior to the surgery that there was a very real, high risk, of this being the outcome.   After 6 months, you'd expect to be well on the way to being totally healed, not facing more surgery and dealing with massive infection.

I wish there was something I could offer in the way of advice, but hopefully one of the others may be able to help.

I wish you all the best!

M, is the recon problems that you've read about just for the saline type  implants, or do the problems also appear to be with procedures using your own body tissue?

    Hi Togetherness,

So sorry for the problems you are having.  I can't speak to recon as I never considered it either.  You might better find some help if you look on a recon thread.  You may find other women going through what you are that are able to help.  Best of luck to you, hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Ariom, one wouldn't do me any good anyway.   Maybe I should have gone for smaller foobs in the first place, I don't know.  It doesn't help that I had a terrible fitter.  I was supposed to get a couple more bras in Nov but they never sent them to me.  After the fitter quit, I don't even think they are doing it any more.  Middle of Feb, I'll be able to play with the contacts and see if I like them.  If not I may sell the whole bunch on eBay!

Hi Togetherness. Wow, talk about rough! One question to ask is if there's an advantage to taking both out and starting over later, or if there will be no problem matching them if they're done at different times. Do they think you will be able to recover better after your immune system is built back up? I agree there will be better advice on a recon thread, but feel free to return at any point to talk to us. (((((HUGS)))))

Ariom, I'm due for a new foob in March. Do you think I should get another silicone because they're so expensive? I want to get a weighted foam or microbead to wear sometimes, but can probably afford to pay for it myself. I was fitted March 2yrs ago and then lost weight. I traded in the first for a smaller, used form (thank goodness they offered that option). Now it's starting to feel a little larger than the real one and I'm continuing to slowly lose weight. I wish they weren't so rigid about the timing and no one is sure who is supposed to prescribe these things. Someone said the surgeon - I haven't seen her since 6 weeks post mx.

Well, hi there everyone, and yes Fiaranch I can always squeeze another one into the FoobMoire Happy

ldesim, it seems that the ones I am reading about are the the implants. There are a number of women on this site, a couple who had surgery at the same time as me, who have reported having the implants removed because of infection or extreme pain. I used Dr Google too.

gB, good idea to sell it all, if you don't think you'll use the Contacts.

One thing I do have to say re recon, the women that have no problems are probably getting on with life and not searching forums for help.  So in a way things are skewed towards the bad results because those are the women we hear from.  I don't know of any place one could go to get real stats on how many have problems and how many don't.  That would be a really good resource!

I do have to admit, I read some of those same horror stories and looked at some pretty scary photos before my sx which served to reinforce my decision not to do recon.  I also just did not want to have to go through more surgeries.
