I have heat!!! And I am exhausted!!

For the price of $100 the guy showed me a button to push to reset the blower after a power outage stops furnace while it is running.  When the power comes back on the blower runs endlessly. He could have talked me through it on the phone and I'd have been on the way to warming under the house hours earlier! But then again, heat, priceless! :)

I bought and installed the new heater in the pump house.  Now I am anxiously awaiting the sound of water coming from the tap.  Rather like a moonshiner waiting for the first drops from his still!

I bought 4 more gallons of water, (that was all they had at Ace) just in case....

ldesim, glad you are not suffering too much from the snow!

    Hugs for all!

gB! I wish I could give you a big warm hug! I'm so glad you have heat again but so sorry for this night and day of hell! You are really brave to be out there on your own, in the middle of nowhere in Montana, with broken toilets, frozen pipes, no heat, emergency water supplies, etc. You totally rock!

Idesim, yeah i think our friends are tired of hearing about our weather woes, so we'll PM about this F* winter! :) I hope the fumes & noise from the office reno are slowly getting better.

M, congrats on the spa!! Wonderful! Now, can we come over? Actually, why am I asking - we'll be there tomorrow!  Let us know how it goes, if the sandflies stay away and you're able to cool yourself outside.  If not, maybe a giant net over this spa?!

Spookie, after bringing your culinary delights to bobo, can you continue up the Interstate to Canada? Pretty please?!

Togetherness, I'm sorry to hear about your lack of appetite. I mean, I wish I had it some days, but I can see that this has been going on for a while now. Please don't delay seeing the nutritionist - like you say, you need food to have strength. Big hug!

ndgirl, I hope your body has adjusted back to ND! How did you make out with travelling with the foobs? Did you wear the silicone ones and pack others? You did not bring the cases, correct?

Zills, I hope your day was normal (no baby accidents, no snow day, no sick granny!) and you were not stiff from the workout.

Hi to viv, susan, shary, wren, bobo, and everyone else!

All fine here, went to work which was good but I'm tired now. Picked up DS at school, did not want to wear a mask (my white blood cells are probably fine?) but was paranoid of being there. Anyway, I can't ask DH to do pick-up every day for 4 months.  It will all be fine.

Freaking out about getting my hair cut tomorrow. My hair is way too important to me. It's defined me for so long. It's not only losing it that's crap, but to think that I will be bald for so long, then with short hair for so long... I don't look sick now, I have foobs, hair, eyebrows, plenty of energy. My neighbours (except those we're friends with) have no clue I have cancer. Tomorrow will be the end of all that. I will constantly be reminded in the mirror, for months, that I'm f*ing sick. I know it could be worse, much worse. But it's kind of a defining moment, for me. So where's that hoochie coochie bar?

Otceb, not gonna lie, that was the worst for me as well.. BUT.. I adjusted to the wig really quickly and loved how easily I could get ready in the morning.. no hairdryer, no flat iron.   At home, because it was winter, I wore a knitted cap under a newsboy type cap.. felt less "naked" that way!  For sleeping, a light cotton sleep cap.  I wore the wig for close to a year as I couldn't stand the short short hair.  I haven't had short hair in over 35 years and still don't like it on me, but I am thankful to have hair back.   As far as eyelashes and eyebrows.. I held on to those until almost the very last treatment and then poof they were back in what seemed like overnight.  The flip side is.. no leg or armpit shaving for a bit :)

Oh Wren, love Goldie picture! she is a sweetie! you are an angel for all you do for the animal kingdom.

GB, glad you have heat again and hoping for warm water soon! ugh, that is tough but you seem to know how to handle things very well. We havent had any water problems in years, or at least in the winter anyway. Always need a back up of some kind, we dont have fireplace but sure wish we did. Hubby has a portable gas fish house heater that we could use for a short time if necessary.

Otceb, about the foobs on the trip, I wore the contact one and took an extra silicone one and also a micrbead one for sleeping, lounging in mornings, didnt want to give me friend the "Victor/Victoria" look. I have my next appt. in April so I need to do some research as to what I want to get, insurance will allow me 2 a year, until I go on Medicare then think every 2 years but not sure about that.

good nite to all my dear friends.

Thanks for the support everyone.  It has been an exhausting day all around.  Unfortunately I still don't have water, it's a bit after 10:30PM my time.  I went out about an hour and a half ago and turned up the heat in the pump house.  The water guy  (Water4u) said it should have defrosted in a couple of hours and since nothing after 4 hrs, I figured it needed to be hotter.  Left an update with Water4u in the evening but no reply. Glad I bought the extra water!  It is supposed to snow tonight, the cloud cover should help warm things up a bit.

otceb, I am so sorry this is hard for you. My heart goes out to you ladies that have to go on to further treatments, with all the awful se's.  Others here can give you great advice on how to deal with them.  I was fortunate enough that the sx was all I needed.  (((hugs)))

Wren, what a sweetie pie Goldie is!!  I bet she gets adopted quickly!! You've already earned your angel wings many times over!!   My cat loves to watch the birds eat the seed too.  It really entertains him!

Hello everyone, sorry I've been busy, busy this morning. It is now late afternoon and I've just had lunch.

Today was my Pink Ladies meeting, first one for the year. We had 2 newbies and a turnout of 17 ladies.

So much going on here, gB, shit what a dreadful night and till ongoing! Not the time of year for things to break down. You must have been freezing. I hope all is back together and working today.

ldesim, I can't tell you how great this little spa is. I took the top off this morning and it was still really hot from yesterday. I have been trying to get the time to jump in it today. If you Google Bestway Spa you can see it.   I don't know how much the heating is to run on it, but we have more than enough Solar to accommodate. Our roof is absolutely covered in panels, thanks to Colin, who never does anything by halves! I can't complain though, when we get our power bills we are in credit, so it is working very well.

ndgirl, you just crack me up! When I read about what you took, Foobwise, on your trip, I think we must have been twins separated at birth!LOL I would have taken exactly the same boobs too!

Wren, what a lovely regal looking cat!

otceb, Come on down, the spa is ready, the Vitamix can make some cocktails, the Sand flies are staying away!

I am so sorry! I would be just the same as you. I don't imagine I would deal too well with losing my hair either. I sincerely hope it isn't as you expect, and is much easier!

Hugs to you! Lets all go to the hoochie coochie bar! Cheers!   M x

Spookiesmom, I am with you! I like to see to the bottom of the water too.

I got caught in a rip in Queensland once. One moment I was flushing the sand out of my bikini bottom, and the next I was being sucked out to sea. I was rescued by a bronzed Aussie Life Saver, but not before I asked him to hold me up, while I put my pants back onSinging When we arrived back on the shore, a bit of a crowd had gathered and here was I with my bikini bottom on the wrong way round with no material in the back to cover me, but lots of cover in the front! LOL It wasn't till later that I realized just how lucky I had been, sharks had been sighted around that area, and I wasn't a great swimmer, so I was lucky that it happened where the Life Savers could get to me. Ariom, OMG, what a great story! Somehow I thought it was going to end with you saying you married that bronzed lifeguard! guess I have watched too many old movies.  Iam having a sleepless night for some reason, checked this site and had a big laugh over a bikini bottom on the wrong way,, but seriously glad you were rescued, must have been very scary, thanks for the chuckle at 3 in the morning.

Otceb...hugs to you about the hair, I looked at wigs before I knew if I needed chemo, I would have felt just as you do, the wigs were so cute too, I have very thick hair and sometimes cuss about taking so long for it to dry, then cancer hit and I was afraid of losing it all. It is just a woman thing. I have read about women wearing cold caps that is supposed to help for not losing hair but I know nothing about them but sure others here do.

Hi, ndgirl, sorry you can't sleep. The nights can be so long. I have caught up with the laundry I didn't get done today. It is very warm tonight, and is supposed to get to around 40c again tomorrow. It is getting very tedious!

On Sunday it is Pink Day at the Yacht club. Every year they have a day when the boats are all decked out in Pink, and the Skipper has to be a woman, or at least be dressed as one! Lots of people who don't have boats go to the club and can be taken out on any of the boats for a donation. There has been a run on the Op shops for Pink stuff. It is all to raise money for BC, so although I have an aversian to Pink, I will put up with it:) It is quite amazing just how much fund raising goes on here for BC.

When I was first Dx, the breast Nurse gave me an envelope that had  vouchers for gas, organic vegetables and for coffee and a snack at a local cafe. I have also been to the local Movie Theatre and another cafe for coffee, all bought with  money raised for BC, in the region. It is quite humbling really, and very unexpected.

The girls from the other big BC group in the region who compete in the Dragon Boat Racing are bringing the boat so people can have a go at paddling. They have talked me into it, so I'll give it a shot!

    I hope you managed to get back to sleep...sleep tight.....chat later...M x

Good morning! M, the support your healthcare system and various charities seem to give to BC patients is really admirable. We get a feeling that there's this community spirit and a model of being there for the patient, something that often lacks here in North America.

I'm sure you will have fun at Pink Day! I was on a dragon boat team years ago, it was fun. It's a great exercise, we were all in great shape by the end of the summer. It's a funny sport, you rush for 5 minutes, then the race is done! But the festivals are a blast, seeing all those boats and people is really nice.

Look at you, "drowning" just to be saved by a hunky lifeguard! ;)  Seriously, I'm glad you were fine, although a little embarrased. And good for you for having solar panels - with all the sunshine you get, you must generate enough power for your own little town!

gB, I hope you have water today? Let us know how it goes. What an ordeal!

ndgirl, I laughed at your Victor/Victoria comment! Not sure if it's a well known Mx expression, I hadn't heard it before! You seem to have nailed this travelling with foobs challenge, glad everything worked out.

Wren, thanks for the Goldie pic, she's adorable. I had a cat years ago but was only able to keep him for 5 weeks, my allergies were so bad I had to stay out of the house. We gave him to a colleague of mine, so he found a good home. But we still miss him to this day! Rupert was his name (here he is!), we got him from the animal shelter and he already had this cute name (kind of British). It's the only pet I ever had and will likely ever have (I don't have enough patience/time for a dog unfortunately), so this is probably the only pic I will upload to this board!

    image

Idesim, thanks for sharing your experience with hair loss. I often read about ladies not caring about going bald (and I admire them, like our Zills), but I can't relate, anyway not yet. It's refreshing to read about someone who does wear her wig (they're so expensive, somebody must be wearing them!). But yeah, I will look at hats and various head coverings once the hair is gone, hopefully I can have fun with these, at least to wear in the house.

    Thanks everyone for your support!

Cool cats. Mine is short and now plump. She likes me being at home.

OTC. Yes losing my hair was hard but it was more the anticipation. I hate my short hair but wigs aren't for me. I kept my eyebrows and my eyelashes got real stubby. I loved not having to shave. You won't pee straight but I think that is the only SE.

I wore a mask for going in/out to get kids. They were in a new school and little kid germs are powerful. I don't think my counts got too low but I was paranoid. It's whatever you are comfortable with. If you hand sanitize as soon as you get in the car, you should be ok.

GrammaB. Hope you slept well and when you wake up, it will all be sorted out.

Idesim. The estring was approved by my onc. The estrogen is supposed to stay put. For me it's a quality of life issue. When your Aus fanny isn't happy, no one is happy. You can ask your onc if you're having SEs from the tamoxifen.

JS took care of most of armpit fullness. Asked nurse. Told to watch, measure, sleep with it propped up (ugh) and maybe wear my sleeve. Go to PT if no improvement.

Also they don't look at tumor markers for bc. Only check blood for liver function. My main test will be the CT scans every three months. Kinda scary since I had no clue it was in my lungs.

My Granny has gone downhill again. Dr asked what they wanted and they finally agreed to make her comfortable. I told them that's what I would want. I don't think I'm going back. I'd like my last memory to be good.

We'll definitely need M's spa after riding the bull:)

    Good luck this weekend Bobo.

Going to nap. Then pay bills and some picking up and sweeping. It's never ending.

Otceb, Rupert is gorgeous. Sorry you were so allergic. DS #4 loves cats and his mom is allergic. They got him a stuffed cat which meows and rolls over. He has taken very good care of it for 2 years and sleeps with it. There's also a friendly cat who lives by the school and requests petting from all the kids.

There's a thread on here for cold caps. I think you can rent them.

GmaB, Hope all your plumbing/heating problems are solved and you're basking in warmth.

DS in Oregon said he got 10" last night with more predicted. There's a city park with a hill and they set up sled runs by size and ability. Tiny one for toddlers, killer for the middle and high school boys.

We're supposed to go to the flower and garden show this afternoon when the price goes down. I've got to get my back to stop hurting if I'm going to enjoy it. Shopping sets it off. Actually, it's probably looking down and at an angle that does it, but that happens a lot with shopping.

Well, still no water, but there is hope!  It only went down to -10°F (-23.3°C) last night, before I went to bed.  It started snowing and last check before bed it was up to -4°F.  It is now 4°F and still snowing.  I got up once in the night to check the kitchen sink to see if there was water, nope.  When I got up this morning there was about an inch of water in the bowl in the sink, but nothing flowing.  So just spurts I guess, but a good sign.  The pump people (Water4U) are coming again this morning/early afternoon to check things out again. Maybe they can speed things up a bit.

My cat is just as annoyed about no water as I am, he's a drink from the faucet kitty and is not thrilled using the bowls.  He has bowls out all the time but prefers the running water.

Ariom, the spa looks awesome!!  Wow, what a story!  I too am glad you were rescued with no harm done.  Helps it was by a hunky guy!! ;)  Have fun at Pink Day. Otceb is right you seem to get a lot more support in some areas than a lot of us do in our part of the world.

Awww, otceb, Rupert is so cute.  So sorry you had to give him up.

Zills, glad the armpit spot is nothing serious and you were able to work most of the fluid out.  So sorry to hear about your Granny. Hope she is not in pain.  (((Zills)))

    Going to make some breakfast.

    Hugs for everyone!

Good morning from the heatwave! I have a few things to do and then I'll be going pruney in the pool for the rest of the day!

gB, I am so sorry you're still having problems "Water4U" sounds like something from a Roadrunner Cartoon, Beep Beep, and then the Coyote gets dumped on by tons of water! LOL

otceb, what a beautiful cat! those eyes look like perfect Citron! My Bec is so cat allergic, that when she was young she couldn't even go in to a house if a cat was just fed in the laundry and not allowed in the house. She would get a thing called Chemosis of the eye and asthma. The eye thing was terrifying, the white would fill up with fluid. Needless to say we have never had a cat, for that reason. Even dogs could be an issue. I had a deal going with the local pet shop, to take a puppy home wash it and let Bec play with it. If she showed allergy respose, it went back. We tried it a few times, and funnily enough a stray showed up one day and she had no problem with it. We tried to find the owner, but no one ever showed up. Bec called him Rover and we had him for 10 years, by the time Rover passed, Bec wasn't so allergic, and we had other dogs that were fine.

I can't remember who started the Victor/Victoria, I think it may have been Bobo, when I was talking about wanting to do a V/V fancy dress with a flat male side and a voluptuous female side! I'll never do it, my little town wouldn't handle that too well!

Zills, I am so sorry your Granny has gone downhill again, but I am so pleased you got to see her when she had picked up and was feeling good!

Glad you got an answer, even if not the one you wanted about your arm. I hope it doesn't give you any grief. Still smiling about your Aussie Fanny being unhappy!

Wren, a flower show would be lovely...enjoy it!

    Hi ndgirl!

Bobo, I need a party report! How is the Princess, did she love the cake? Are you exhausted or did Md help out?

No naked wanderings in the night I hope! M x

OK, this is officially not "fun" any more!!  It is nearly 3:30PM my time and Water4U has yet to show up! Friday afternoon no less!!  I had about 6 drops of water out of the kitchen faucet at noon and I thought great, soon water!  But nope!  Temps are dropping again, we got to 15°F (-9.4°C) but has dropped to 9°F (-12.8) right now and going down as I write!  I'm getting low on water, will have to go out and get more tomorrow if something doesn't get fixed today.

You ladies will laugh at this.  Remember all those hand sanitizer wipes, body wipes, facial wipes I got for post sx that I never used?  They are sure coming in handy right now!! :)

bobo, how did the Princess's school B-Day party go?  All set for the family one this weekend?  Hope MD minds her manners.

    Hugs!

Well, yes and no.  My neighbor came over and crawled under the house, turns out the heat tape at the main had been unplugged.  He plugged it in and in a few minutes I had water.  Brown rusty water with bits of gunk in it! :(  And the pipes in my laundry room wall were banging like crazy.  After all that finally the Water4U guy shows up.  Turns out that the pipe going to the pressure tank is still frozen in the pump house.  He redirected the heater to blow on that and said it should thaw in a couple of hours.  He said the gauge was kind of wonky, but maybe just because of the blockage.  He did say that because I had water into the house there is probably no problems at that end and once the pipe thaws, I should be fine.  He turned the water off and I have to go out and check it in an hour and see if I get water w/out all the thumping.  If I do, I'm golden, if not, I'm not!  I have to check back with W4U either way.  I have about 1/2 hour to go before checking, wish me luck!!

At least it is warmer, 28°F today, we had another couple of inches of snow overnight and it is still lightly snowing, so I am going to do a little shoveling when I get all geared up to go check out the pump. I tell ya, this has been an exhausting few days!!  I really can't wait to have a real shower!!  Marine showers only satisfy for so long!

    Hugs!

gB, I am so sorry that it has been such an ordeal for you. I sounds like you may be on your way to being sorted now.

I wish I could send you some of this heat, to melt your pipes. It's melting us! I think we are officially into the hottest Summer on record now with more days over 40c than ever known. That's fine, but all the rest are up there, just not quite 40c. It is blowing a Hot Northerly this morning and I don't believe it dropped below 30c over night, just the right conditions for bush fires. It will ruin the Yacht Club fund raiser today, too windy to take people out on the yachts, and too hot to enjoy the festivities. I doubt we will even go down there.

The Farmers Market is on today too. I usually can't wait to get there, but even though Dex is mooching around wanting to go for a walk, I doubt I'll be going there either.

Very quiet here, I wonder how the party went, and if all is well in the tiny house?

    Take care everyone...M x

Awww Ariom, sorry about the fundraiser and the d@mn heat there!!  We've had some record breaking cold temps this Winter.  Wish we could split the difference!!

Well, I've checked the pump twice so far and it is still shaking itself to death when I turn the water on. Not a happy camper. :(  I will check again in about a half hour.  Not sure if I want to trudge out there once it gets dark.  I found a huge patch of red snow on the side of the garage, something had a good meal last night.  I don't want to meet up with what ever it was!!

May be another night w/out water.  :((

Wondering about the party too and if things are OK there.

Oh gB, sorry it's still not solved. I don't want you to meet a beast in the dark either. What good is that W4U company for? Are there other water pump or plumbing companies in your area? This has gone on long enough, you've been so patient. Yes, I bet you can't wait for that shower. Big hug!

M, sorry about the damn heat. There's nothing to do when it's that bad, and you get fed up of being inside in a/c. I guess you will soak in the spa a little? Hope your day turns out ok!

I was wondering if you had a nice neighbor that would come to help check out the situation...wonder how the tape got unplugged? animals maybe? dont blame you for not wanting to go out in the dark. Yes, those "bird bath" as I call them just dont cut it for long do they? Hopefully soon you can sit in a nice warm tub and just soak!! Wish Ariom could send us some of her unwanted heat!! sorry things are cancelled for her. They are cooking and we are freezing! Sheez!

Otceb.. hope tomorrow is better for you, thinking of you alot. Hugs!

Hi again, OMG, I went out to get some organic veg from the Farmers Market, but most of the stallholders had gone. The wind is extreme, and the sand and dust is horrible. I went into the yacht club to see the girls, but they can't take the Dragon Boat out today. No yachts either, too dangerous for new people who have never been out before.

It is actually even too hot and windy to get into the spa right now, so I bought the Sunday paper and made myself a long cold drink. I have the air con and the overhead fans on. Colin is watching the Sochi Winter Games so I'll be staying put till at least late afternoon.

I wish we could split the difference too, gB! Oh how I hate to get up to those nocturnal massacres. It is usually birds here. There are these beautiful gray birds that have the most beautiful call I have ever heard, I don't know what they are, but I often sit here and whistle their call back at them. They are curious and sit on the servery outside the kitchen windows looking in at me. Some mornings I get up and there is a big pile of gray feathers on the grass. I don't know what it is, fox or feral cat, but I never hear a thing.

otceb, sorry your not feeling good. Don't worry about bringing us down, we've all had our crappy days!

ndgirl, I don't know how I'd cope without water either, I love my hot showers, poor gB, but at least all those wipes are getting used now:)

    Take care everyone...M x
