Hi Stacey,,,, hoping this week's Carbo/Taxol kicks some cancer butt,,, sucks about the fatigue! We are thinking for you and Sailman. ((hugs)) to you both.0 -
JS, so sorry about this sickening chemo, but as the girls before said, hope it is doing much worse to cancer. Thinking of you and Sailman always... take care.
0 -
Hey there JS! Agree with our sisters -- I am thinking that the chemo is kicking ass in there! I am sending you all good thoughts. You are a rock star, going to work even when you're feeling poorly! What a bad ass! When you get home, however, take care of yourself: miso soup, warm shower, fave booties, anything you want. XXX

Hi JS, I just read your post on CB, I am so sorry it is hitting you so hard, but you're soing well, being able to get to work. I rally admire you!
I think of you and Sailman, often. Today is a sailing day, but I can't go, I have a massage booked and I don't like to let her down, so Colin will go with our friends who crew for him. It is going to be the warmest day in months today, about 26c. It is just a week till we go back on daylight saving, which I absolutely love.
Is Sailman getting out on the water at all? Big hugs to you.....M x

Ava is such a goof ball. She knows when it's about my break time, and she starts her dinner dancing. Well, she got under the desk and started bouncing,, she hit her head on the keyboard tray! It scared her!! so she tries to run away from the bad thing,, and her feet are just scrambling on the wood floor, trying to get her footing. It's so entertaining.
And it rained really hard, so the back yard was flooded again. But she found a slightly higher spot that wasn't so wet so that she could pee. Good girl.

M, Thought you would like this statistic. Seattle broke the former record of 26 days by having 27 days this year which were as warm or warmer than 29C. That's 83F. We've had a very warm summer.

It's PRE OP appt day!! Finally this one is here. Back later.0 -
Glennie,
I am in the bag and I have the stuff for pina coladas when you are done. You
will feel so much better once the hyst is done. I can't believe the difference
it has made for me. Sailman thanks you all for the love and good thoughts. M~
no, we haven't been able to go sailing for a couple of years. Three years ago,
my back got so bad that we weren't able to travel and the nearest lake that
hasn't dried up that is worth sailing on is over 3 hours away in Oklahoma. The
last two years, beginning with my back fusion in 2012, have been full of doctor
appointments and tests and I just haven't been physically able to go .Fia~ you are such a determined
bitch (Bitch Sisters of the World United) *ROFLMAO* I know you can quit and am
right here to support you and be here if you need me. I quit 2 years ago when I
had my back fusion. They scared the shit out of me when they told me the fusion
wouldn't take if I didn't quit. I do miss it from time to time. Sailman still
smokes and it doesn't bother me too much anymore. I still love the smell and
will occasionally lean over and just take a whiff. We started rolling our own 6
or 7 years ago and the price difference is amazing. I can't imagine paying $20
per pack. That is insane. After buying the pipe tobacco (cheaper not as taxed
as "cigarette" tobacco) and the tubes, it averages out to about $2.50
per pack. Not too bad in the scheme of things.Zills, you have been on my mind
and I am hoping that you and the kiddos are doing well. Wren, PRB, Bobo, ND,
Spookie, thank you all for being there in the bag each week and for all the
positive love and energy that you send my way.Today
is a great day! I woke up feeling almost like my old self and am so glad the se’s
have calmed for a day or two. I know I will be back on the roller coaster Thursday,
but that is ok. I have come to cherish the great/good days and definitely don’t
take them for granted anymore. I am hoping y’all are right and that the Chemo
is attacking the cancer and is doing its job. Our friend who is bringing us
food each week also does essential oils. She is going to bring me some for the
nausea and the aches. I will let y’all know how that works out. Anything
natural is better than all this crap they pour into you. I started taking
potassium yesterday and am hoping that will help with the muscle aches. Also
going to drink a lot more water today in case I have gotten a bit dehydrated.Well, I better get to work, payrolls won't get done by themselves. Much love to all of you.

Glad to hear you are having a good day JS, guess we could all learn to take a good day and appreciate it, thanks for the reminder. I am also interested in essential oils, I only have lavender and it is supposed to help with sleep, so have been trying it, not much success so far. Any helpful info on them would be appreciated. Do you put them into something like coconut oil and rub on or what? After surgery they gave me a stick to smell with lavender and it helped with nausea. What do all you gals use or do? Am very interested in the natural products too. Take care JS.

Hey there Y'all,My goodness yall wrote a book since I was able to sign on here last. Very fun to read.
Happy anniversary Bobo and DLLP~~~ and many more!!! That would be awesome to be with someone for that long. I was only marred for 5 years when my husband died of cancer. Bless his heart.
Been busy with preparing for fall/winter. I ordered some booties like the ones I saw I think Wren had from Canada. I always get a "nesting" feeling in the fall and start cooking and freezing foods and buying warm clothing and blankets. I love blankets. I also picked up my crochet after many many years and will try a project with that this year. I have some granny squares my grandmother never finished so I thought I might try that and finish the afgan with her squares already made.
doctor cancelled my appt on Mon so now go tomarrow about GB surgery so no news there. no further attacks thank goodness.
Any news on JSJ??? I hope she is doing well. All this crap is very rough. oh yea y'all already know that.
no other news this way. football season off to a good start here in Alabama!! friends coming thurs form Chicago to sign contract on their home. Then it will be official!! cannot wait for them to move here. They fell in love with the south! The house will be done in 6 months after the contract is signed.!!!
well I really have no life to write about. I love reading about all yours so keep posting. Still haven't figured out how to post pics to show you my puppies.. that is another whole project. today I am going junking to look for cool stuff in thrift stores ect. Hope I find some god stuff.
Have a blessed day.
Glennie what day is surgery. In the bag with ya!!! Keep us posted.

O2~ it is good to see you! I have my good days and bad. I have posted a bit this week, and am keeping the caring bridge journal going. I am glad your friends will be there close to you soon! What did you find at the junk/thrift stores? That is one of my favorite things to do with my mom. She can sniff out a bargain before we hit the door LOL! Well, back to work, just wanted to pop back in.

hmmm, pina coladas,,,, Sound wonderful! Preop appt's are done. chest x-ray and ekg are normal. Woot! I'm her first case!! She said,, I knew you would want to be first,,,, my GYN is awsome. I would totally send Bobo to her but it's the OTHER hospital. Bummer. F**king insurance rules. So I am breathing a sigh of relief that that part is over,, and I just have tonight left to work and then I'm off until surgery. Hoping to relax a little and unwind!! (at least until I have to start the bowel prep on Sunday. YUCK)JS,, I'm so glad you are having a good day. We do need to enjoy them when they roll around. Definitely stay dehyrated, and ask if you need magnesium,,, sometimes that helps with muscle aches too.
Fia: report in! How's the non smoking going? We will not be judgmental if you had slip ups,,, we just want to know how you are doing.
O2: you may be off to a good football season (boo) but we aren't! Glad your friends will be moving down by you soon. Surgery is MONDAY Sept 29th at 8AM. Will bring large bag, room for all!
Everyone else: What's up with you??
0 -
Glennie, glad it all went well and I will be win the bag Sunday as you do that horrid prep (ugh) and on Monday when you have surgery. I have been on magnesium since I started chemo and it has helped one of my blood numbers be up there where it is supposed to. Hope you have a great last night at work. Is there someone who can let us know Monday how you are doing?

my plan is to text Bobo **alerting Bobo now to this** and she can let everyone know. Don't know if I'll be up to getting on computer,, **thinking not really** Hopefully in a couple days I'll be back on here. Maybe I can send quick message from Ipod,, I do not have fancy phone with internet. Thanks JS!! Appreciate you being in the bag!! (bag will NOT be in the bathroom on Sunday,, I'll tell ya that!! Not putting my friends thru that. )
0 -
Oh Glennie ROFLMAO... I appreciate that, especially since I know what you are going through. That gallon of salty shit is just horrid. I hope I never have to do that again.
0 -
oh,, i don't have to drink the gallon,, I get the mag citrate and dulcolax tabs! SOOOO much better than that gallon. **sadistic doctors give the gallon**
Still,, no one needs to be near that room during that time!
0 -
Thank you for your kind words O2! Good to hear from you! So sorry about your husband, bless his heart.
Standing by for my text from Glennie! Will be the relay person. I have an idea. You should do your bowel clean out on drugs! That way you will not care as much that you are pooping your brains out. I'm thinking triple A? **I sound like drug dealer**
ND, are you still not sleeping? Zut. Have you tried massage? I am having PT massage once a week. I bet it would help you sleep. I bet the trauma from the sx (and the overall stress) is stored in your body. Plus, I don't know about you, but my hormones have been in extreme flux, making it difficult to sleep. I bet a good thorough massage would get some of that moving through the body. What do you think?
G, I assume you will be driving by, so I will not visit the hospital, correct? Will you let me know otherwise?
0 -
Bobo: it should be drive-by if all goes well!! Will text as soon as able. She is planning drive-by,, but once she's in there,, if it turns into abdominal,, then it will be overnight. **fingers crossed it doesn't** She is really skilled surgeon,, I have a lot of confidence in her. I *see* her patients at my job, you know,,, I see orders, etc. so I know,, she is good.I second the massage suggestion. It is so relaxing. And if you get RX from doctor,, some insurances will pay part of bill too. *just an idea*
Done the bowel prep before,,, not fun,, but I have game plan, learned from GI doctor from when I had the colonoscopy. Just gotta get some supplies,,,,like baby butt wipes! *totally necessary* GYN even puts on the list. HAHAHA. She is that good.

Zut! M! Just had my eyebrows done and the woman mugged me! I specifically told her I wanted them natural, just clean up underneath -- in fact I would do it myself but I am going blind! -- and it is a natural-type spa so I thought it was fine. I was badly mugged in the 90's by bloodless Russian wax bitch, and I've been trying to grow them out ever since (obviously they don't really grow out). Anyway, I'm relatively new there, and my person was out, and this new woman was a krishna yoga type, and I thought it would be fine, but... I am practically bald! I could tell she was doing too much! For the love of all that is holy, angels, cherubim and seraphim. Hear my cry!
DLLP is just going to kill me. Whenever she notices. Oh! Plus she dropped a GIANT GOB of wax into my hair!! And I reached up to feel what happened, and got it on my hand, and she was leaving wax everywhere... oh my god... and she started putting hand cream in my hair to get the wax out!!!! And I had to take a full-on shower when I got home!
Mother F! I am watching Bobbi Brown and looking at these girls with big full eyebrows! M! M! I wish I lived nearby! Only you can truly understand! F me. Just: F*&^%&$%#$%!!!
And yes, I did indicate, with hand gestures, to the woman at the counter, and yes she did offer a (ten percent!) discount, and yes, I did tip the aesthetician anyway. Fuck! Moderators, have mercy on me.
Blah blah blah, I am a cancer survivor and I am maimed, multiple surgeries, blah blah blah. Finally I can sing out about a REAL issue.

OH NO!!!! ** the horror**** You poor thing!!!0 -
Good morning all!
Glad the pre-op went well Glennie, oh how I hate that bowel prep, but at least it gives you a good clean out and it does make your system feel good. Thanks for the pass from being in the bathroom! lol I am in the bag with whatever you want me to bring to the Hospital! Texting Bobo is a good plan! I hope you are up to posting soon. I like your Gyn, I wish Bobo could see her! I can imagine Ava doing the "cartoon" running. Dex does it too, with his back legs trying to get traction. Has made some scratches on the timber floors, but such is life!
Bobo, you hadn't mentioned how your massage was going, it must be working if you're doing it every week. I absolutely agree with you, I don't know what I'd do without mine every 2 weeks. I incorporate aromatherapy in with mine. ndgirl, you can buy pre mixed essential oils, in carrier oils, just buy, the best you can. My massage therapist uses my oils, when she massages me and the therapist I went to for about 16 years, before I moved here, actually started using to use the oils made by my friend on all her clients, because she realized how beneficial they were for me. They are so good for you, in lots of ways.
jsj, I can't telll you how lovely it was to get up and see you've been posting! I know you've had a rough time and I think of you often. I hadn't realized it had been so long since you'd been sailing. I did remember your back surgery, but didn't put it together.
Hi 02, lovely to see you posting! I would love to see your puppies if you can post the pics. I have only recently learned how to do it myself. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, when it comes to computer skills, having Colin to do it made me lazy to learn. Thrift shopping, is my fave, I love to shop anytime, but Opp shops are really my favorite. I received the flyer to tell me that the Newlands Arm garage sale is on again this year, I missed it last year because I was in Melbourne for Colin's Mother's funeral, but the year before I got fantastic stuff. It is the area across the water, that we can see and they have about 30 homes all having the garage sale on the same day. Last time, I got lots of antique and new, boat bits, both for the boat and for decor items.
Wren, those are interesting stats, thank you. Do you have the super hot over 40c days too? My favorite temp is around 25c but it tends to stay in the over 30's up to the 40's for long stretches in our Summer, which I really hate. It is just too hot to do anything, when it's in that 40's range. It got to about 26 yesterday, the hottest day we have had since last Summer and I was silly enough to mow the lawns. I was absolutely exhausted and had to stop in the middle for a drink and a rest. I was smart enough to put on sunscreen and I still got a bit sunburned on my shoulders. We don't ever get a slow build up it goes from cold to hot overnight. I had a massage late yesterday and the oils fixed the sunburn.
I am feeling a bit flat today. I had a call from one of my dearest friends last night. I met him when I took a gf to see Hair for her 18th birthday and we got upon the stage to dance at the end of the show, he was a cast member and danced with us and then took us to a cast party afterwards. We have been great friends ever since. He actually introduced me to my first Husband. They were both in Jesus Christ Superstar together. He is in a state of shock because he was just Dx with lung cancer, found purely by accident, no symptoms at all. He has never smoked or been a drinker, no drugs, in fact probably the cleanest muso, I have ever met. They say it was likely caused by the passive smoking, when he was in recording studios and playing in bands in bars. He is to have the top lobe of his lung removed in November. He is alone, never married, shit, but I hate this bloody disease. M x

Oh farkenhell Bobo! You tipped the bitch? I would have slapped her for you! Don't panic too much, it may look ok once you calm down. I know the feeling well, I had that done to me once, too. She got it in your hair too, best she stick to her yoga, pardon the pun! Just keep your bangs over your eyes, so DLLP doesn't see it while you're freaked out. It will just make it worse, if she hates it. Hugs from me!
0 -
Oh, M, I am so sorry about your dear friend. It sounds like he has a treatment plan in place. Hate it when they 'blame' it on you. 'Well, it must have been that you recorded in bars, etc. etc.' That's not really what any of us likes to hear.
And here I am going on about my eyebrows! They are not the most important thing. Yes, I am having PT massage through the hospital. It is on my insurance, otherwise I would not be able to invest like this. They do not do essential oils, sadly! I don't even know if I will ask to bring them in, since some hospital people are smell sensitive.
What are you going to do to help your friend? Have not had a cookie bomb update recently, but now I know MD is fully eating the sweeties if she is eating key lime cake! In fact, it must be nice for her to have such lovely sweeties, actually.
Thinking of you. XXX
0 -
I don't have bangs!!!
DLLP HATES when I do any eyebrow plucking. They have always been the thin type, but she doesn't want them thinner. And I confess sometimes I pluck them when I am nervous! I mean, I just clean them up. But DLLP doesn't even want that. Her eyebrows look like the eyebrows of one of the men on 60 Minutes.
Oh my god! The fear is washing over me all over again! Not the fear of DLLP, but the fear of having these ugly brows! I am so trying to make my appearance decent, since I am maimed and terrible looking on the inside of my clothes, in fact it takes me yonks (AUS word) to get ready in the morning these days because I am doing an extra-careful job. Zut! It's stupid but I am shocked by how bad they are. What were you thinking, Yoko Ono?
0 -
Thank you Bobo, not at all! Your eyebrow issue is important. I know how awful that feels.
It may be worth asking if you can bring your own essential oil blend for your massage. A lot of the forward thinking Hospitals here are incorporating essential oils into both the air, in oil burners and I know of some that rub analgesic oils onto the soles of the feet of patients, a great way to get pain relief, into the system . When my Mother was in the nursing home with dementia, they used aromatherapy as a modality in her treatment, both in massage and in an electric burner in her room. I understand that some places ban perfumes, which is understandable.
I have offered to go down to the city to help my friend when he comes out of Hospital. Apparently it is a 1 week stay and they say he should be fine to go home alone. I am not so sure about that. I will just have to juggle things here for Colin. Colin isn't too well today either, so he has a Doctors appointment this afternoon. Hopefully it will just be a UTI. He hasn't had one in quite a while. M x
0 -
Oh, feel better, Colin! Will he have antibiotics? Poor thing.
You are so sweet to help your friend like that. I hate to think of him by himself.
0 -
Bobo, So sorry about the brows! Maybe M will have fill-in suggestions.
M, Too bad about your friend. I'm hoping surgery will do the trick. Will he have chemo too?
M, Our hottest day this year was Aug 11 when it reached 34C. So we're never in the 40's - agree that you can't do anything when it's that hot.
Glennie, Do not envy you the prep. My friend had to drink the gallon, but the nurse told her to chase it with ginger ale and it made all the difference.
0 -
Hi Bobo, Colin is already taking antibiotics, we always keep a store of broad spectrum for these times. He will take a sample to have cultured and then get onto whatever it needs to knock it out. He used to get these very regularly and was on a lot of antibiotics throughout any given year, but since going on the Olive Leaf, it has dropped away, to maybe 1 a year.
Wren, yes, he is to have chemo after the surgery. He just has such a long wait till November. We all know how the waiting does us in! I tried to get him to come here, so he wouldn't be alone, but he doesn't want to leave his home.I can go down there, but I don't like to leave Colin too long and I have to organize carers to do what I normally do , so not an ideal situation.
Wrenn, your weather would be just perfect, I hate the extreme heat that we get here. I don't know how people in the really hot countries survive it. We were in Dubai on our way to Europe years ago, for Colin to compete in a sailing competition. We went out at midnight to try to get cool, but it was still over 100F and my feet were getting burnt through my shoes from the sidewalk. The day time was like being in a furnace. I was pushing Colin's chair and felt like I could just pass out. Not my cup of tea. M x
0 -
Oh M: I am so sorry about your friend. This f*king disease!! And the waiting just sucks. November does seem like ages away. I hope it goes fast. And Colin is under the weather too? Yikes! Hopefully just UTI,,, get that managed, right? ((hugs)) to you both.
