Ariom, so sorry to hear about your friend, you are an angel to try and help him, but I can understand how hard it is to leave Colin, hope he is ok and the meds do the trick for him. A friend of my oldest son has just been dx with lymphoma and had his first round of chemo today, his wife is my hairdresser and I have appt on Friday so hopefully he comes thru this ok. I have been showering Fia with ?? about this disease and she is so gracious to answer my questions. Thanks Fia.
Bobo, oh the eyebrows, yes they are important, of course they are. Eyebrows from 60 minutes.. OMG that had me rolling!
Massage sounds wonderful, there was a great one in town for several years and I loved her massages, her not so much, but that didnt matter. Unfortunately she has left town and the nearest is 60 miles away with road construction right now.. but I may have to check into a therapist in a town up north (Canada). Sounds good for sure, but I am so darn far away right now.

JS - Agree with M.. so nice to see you here posting away. Hope Thursday goes well for you. Now where is Fia? Did I see her behind the building taking a puff?
Glennie - The countdown is really on now! I think you'll be amazed at how well you feel after your robotic surgery. . .. we are expecting a full report (all good, of course). Yippee for the Miralax prep. I had to sign a waiver to take it, stupid doctors.. but I refused all that other.. excuse the pun.. shit. You sound like a pro, but I want to remind you to eat lightly in the days leading up to the prep... less in = less out.
O2 - Nice to see you checking in. Do you know how to attach files to emails? If you want, you can send me your puppy pictures and I can post them here for you. PM me and I'll send you my email address if you want.
M - So sorry about your friend. November sure does seem like a long ways away. He's lucky to have you as a friend...just be sure to tell him you're available to show up in your power suit if needed!
The pink invasion has started .. employees were hanging up huge balloons shaped like pink ribbons at the grocery store today. And so it begins for another year....pink visors, pink t-shirts, pink ribbons... and 200,000 pink scars. If only we could put our scars on the grocery store walls instead of ribbons....maybe then we could get the real message across. We need a cure.

Hi girls, thank you for all the kind words. I just had a call from my friend and he took my advice to call the Hospital and sort some things out. What he was telling me, just wasn't ringing true for a patient with Private Healthcare. My friend had looked after his Mother for many years after his Father died, as I did with mine and he was well aware of making himself assertive when it came to her care, but for his own, not so much. Fortunately he called and asked them if they were aware of his status with Private health and as I expected, the tone changed considerably. They are calling back later, and I am willing to bet, he will have a much sooner surgery date and another appointment with the respiratory specialist. They make my blood boil with this kind of nonsense and it was purely because they didn't read the forms properly.
Now, I just got a surprise in the mail. Last year, I was approached by Amoena in Australia to write my story for their Amoena Life Magazine, which I did. It was in the Spring edition and then this year I was asked to do a follow up about recovery and also about the clothing range. I had been in touch with the team in Melbourne to help me find stockists of the new, at the time, clothing range, that you all know I love and wear all the time.
I sent the link to the story to Bobo last year, but didn't mention it on here, but now that I know everyone so much better, it doesn't embarrass me, so if you are interested, here are the links to both stories. Notice Dex is always in the picture! M x

OOOOO,, A celeb in our midsts!! What an awesome magazine!! I've never seen it before. And you, The Divine Ms. M , look fab!! And Dex is adorable.I love how you have district nurses who come to see you post op. If only we had that here.
It's great you were able to tell your story,,, and give clothing/foob advice to the readers. You should totally be a model for them. In the catalog,, on their website,,, how cool would that be??

Ooooooh! I smell a fourth (fifth?) career coming on! Our M will be special consultant to Amoena! Actually, she already is. In my opinion businesses should be fighting it out for the opportunity to have M do this for them: Marika, and Butter London, Tim Tams, Aldi -- oh, Vitamix, air fryer -- they should be punching each other and rolling around on floor to see which one M will choose.
M, sounds like you are already helping your friend. Yes. You must cultivate in him an attitude of cool entitlement when it comes to Health Care Professionals. I wish we all had that attitude, in fact.
ND, I am actually not exaggerating regarding 60 minutes. Ooh! Wish I could walk to Canada with you today, then pick things out of the garden and can them. I really want to do canning. But I have no friend.
Bird, so kind of you to have kind words about my mugging whilst you are simultaneously saving kitties. Waiting for squeaker update. Edward is sitting here as I write, and he is occasionally making me misspell something. In fact I must post before he makes me lose the whole thing. He has special needs and doesn't have a lot of cat knowledge. But you can hold him and say his name to him. He knows his name, which is so nice.
PRB, you sound good and militant. Sing out! Regarding earlier comment in which I said I would be pissed if no gyn ca -- was joke, but I cannot apologize for it. Anyway in a sense it is not really a joke, as I do not want to be eviscerated on a regular basis for no reason. There is Free Speech on my thread. Off-color comments praised to the heavens here.
Zut! DLLP did notice brows right away. She worked it into conversation by making a comment about someone's overplucked brows on tv -- a man -- but did not mention me directly. She is such a gentle soul. I must say when I was indirectly called out I felt myself freaking out again! I know this isn't the last I have heard of this. I can pluck two hairs and if she sees me doing it she says something. Now I look obviously as plucked as a... chicken!

M~ I am so sorry about your friend. I hope that he receives the care he needs and that everything goes smoothly for him. You are as beautiful as ever in your article. I just love the smile that is on your face. Bobo, I am so sorry you have had to deal with the plucking. You have had such a rough time and just can't seem to catch a break. Glennie, try to relax and enjoy your time off before "The Great Cleanse" on Sunday. What shall we do tomorrow while the big chemo is going on? Poker anyone? Who is bringing the alcohol? Maybe we should get rowdy and dance on the tables lol... now THAT would be a sight! Shall end on that laugh... back to work... much love to all my sisters!

M~ I forgot to ask in my post... how is Colin? I hope he is feeling better today. Sending a fellow sailor much love and healing!

Ariom, you look just beautiful! We all knew you were beautiful inside of course, what a wonderful magazine and stories told! Thank you for doing that. Just imagine all the women you will help with those articles!
Glennie, just remember no red colored foods, could be mistaken for blood. Last time I had to do this the drink was called..go lightly.. boy is that tongue in cheek or what!! Didnt have to drink a gallon, just 1/2! yuck! Good luck.
Bobo, wish you could come and be with me and we would go to Canada, can some tomatoes, that is really all I do for canning, but that is alot, pasta sauce, salsa, stewed tom. etc. you get the picture. I dont give a damn what you eyebrows look like! you are beautiful and so tall... love it.
So nice to see Js and O2 again. miss you .Prb, so the pink has begun.. we dont get hit so much here, some of course but remember Gramwe saying there town turned the fountain pink last year and she almost lost it!!! Miss her too,

Only ND loves me for who I am, regardless of my eyebrows! She does not judge me by the normal standards of decency. **heart emoticon** Yes please let's can tomatoes. How do you know I am tall? I am very tall.
JSJ, you are so sweet. I am going to be in the bag for your big chemo and I have decided I am going to be extremely drunk. It's funny, because I rarely drink, and I am not having much gluten right now and gluten-free beer hard to find, but I have decided to tie one on! My plan is to make a ruckus at the big chemo as a sort of diversionary tactic. No one will notice you doing something naughty -- anything you want -- if I am a public nuisance. Also, I will pick a resident (I hate residents) and torture him mercilessly for no reason. I have also been known to be cruel to female residents.
I really do not like residents anymore. There is nothing you can do about it. Now THERE is someone I will not sleep with no matter what. A resident is the opposite of a firefighter.
F*&%^^(&~! you, all pink things!

Bobo.... that isn't true... We all love you, whether you have eye brows or not. You are our resident (oh wait.... let me think of a different word) bad@$$. Any helpers out there with another word for resident since our Bobo hates them so much? I am thinking about pole dancing with my IV up on the nurses desk. That should be interesting. I imagine we could all get into a bit of trouble if we act too naughty .. My nurses in there are awesome, so they may be up there dancing with us ROFLMAO.

I like the pole dancing idea! In the bag. I'll bring some Southern Comfort. My BFF Sharon got so pissed off once after waiting so long at the doctor's office that she threatened to dance naked in the waiting room. HAHAHAHA.. They saw her really fast after that.
Bobo is very tall. I can vouch for that. I am a midget also so keep that in mind. She is our spokesperson bad@ss. And she has great shoes. I loved those shoes you wore last week with the flowers on them. They were awesome. And residents are evil. I remember that from my time at Shands,,,, July was a great time for a vacation. Advice: Never ever do anything at a teaching hospital in July.
ND: that Golytely sucks. I would have refused it. I do the Magnesium citrate/dulcolax route. It's still not fun but way better than Golytely. (which is totally a misnomer) I want to go to Canada too. I want some fall colors. Don't want pink. Want orange and yellow and red leaves. And pumpkins.
Had my lymphedema therapy appt today at Shands. I always feel so tired afterwards, Must be all that lymph moving around. Must go drink more water. Baking sweet potatoes for tonight's potluck dinner. **when I'm not working, I get to do social things**

I hate residents. It isn't Buddhist of me.
Grinding up on the IV pole is exactly the kind of bad behavior I was talking about, JSJ. **approving look** I aim to be so ill behaved that people will not even notice your bad behavior. And when someone does not please us with respect to your care, we will put on our resting bitch face.
0 -
**practices resting bitch face**OMG!! co-worker just sent me an email of MUGSHOTS. One of our doctors has been arrested for smuggling contraband into a prison! **shock** I don't personally know him, but everyone says he's a nice guy. Maybe too nice?
0 -
Contraband what?! And all you are bringing is plain sweet potatoes?
Glennie, I totally wore those shoes for you!
0 -
the Mugshots didn't say what kind of contraband. Sweet potatoes will be mashed with butter and cinnamon. **not a lot of energy today**And you wore the shoes for me??? ***thrilled***

Bobo, curious minds, ok, nosey, want to know just how tall you are?
0 -
I'm kind of shortish at 5'4, DD is 5'10, her dad is 6'3. SIL is 6'6.
0 -
Wow! I am only nearly 5'11.
0 -
5' 3" &1/20 -
5'7" Why would you think I don't love you Bobo? I don't care if you have eyebrows or not!
I want to play at js's chemo too. I love the idea of the lV pole dance too, I'll bring whatever you like js!
ndgirl, can I come to Canada and can tomatoes too?
Glennie, it's so close now, thinking about you!
I have had some good residents, but I have also had a few, who stand like a deer in your headlights, till you tell them what to do! There are a lot like that in the spinal unit, some things are done a little differently with quads and it is only experience that teaches that.
Thank you everyone, for the lovely comments about the stories. I enjoyed writing them. Not something I have done before, so it was both cathartic and interesting. Colin took the photo for the first one and one of his attendant carers took the recent ones. Dex can't help himself, he wanders in all nonchalant, you often don't notice, till you see the shot. He was in the one standing at the bar but they cropped him out! lol
Colin still isn't well again today, has a fever this morning and didn't sleep well last night. I will drop off a sample at the Doctor's office today and hopefully he'll get onto the right antibiotic, but it will be a few days wait. He very rarely gets really sick, so this is unusual for him.
I am feeling much better about my friend, now that things are sorted with his insurance. I haven't heard when he will have his operation yet, but I imagine it will be soon.
Today, I will see my other friend, who has ovarian ca. I can't believe how much cancer there is. Another friend told me yesterday. "I have had it, you have had it, just about everyone will have it at least once, in their lifetime! I guess he is right.
Have a great evening everyone! M x

I do think you love me! I was just teasing.
Poor poor Colin! I don't like to hear he is feeling poorly. Sending him healing thoughts! How is our Dex? XXX
0 -
I knew you were teasing!
Colin says thank you Bobo, he says I don't consider his "Man Flu" as he calls it, real! But he insists that it is documented that "Man Flu" is real and has credibility, they get sicker, than women do! He got a slap on his aching head, for that one! All I can say Bobo, is, don't encourage him! lol
Dex is doing fine, he is now on a 1/2 a tab of cortisone every 3rd day, boy you can imagine me trying to remember that one! He seems to have really improved, but I guess it is a wait and see game with this allergy. He is allergic to Rye Grass and that is what our lawn consists of. Too big a job to replace and he may be allergic to other kinds too. M x

Oooh, girl whose baby shower I attended recently had her baby this morning! 3 hour labor...wow! I can't wait to get baby sniffing, but will avoid for a few days, in case Colin has more than UTI, don't want to expose newborn to anything.
0 -
I am allergic to Rye too! **twins**
Does Colin really call his illness "man flu"? He is so manly! He is just adorable. Tell him his high testosterone levels are probably lowering his resistance!
0 -
I told you not to encourage him! lol
0 -
Well, I am going to! Oooh, Colin, you are so cute! Do not drive too fast when I am in the car, I am delicate! Eek! etc.
Oh, M! I need your shopping expertise. Have been looking for long time for a sweater -- zip-up or open, pull-over, hoodie or no -- that is A) made of cotton, not wool, not any kind of polyester, not bamboo (which doesn't wear well) and has thumbholes and extra-long sleeves! You know, like an apres yoga cozy wrap sweater. But not synthetic, and not of performance athletic material. I also want a shirt like this -- like a skinny long-sleeve tee.
Now I feel I must sit back and watch the magic happen! It is so good having a personal shopper expert in the family. **leaning back, arms behind head** No, in fact, I am actually still grading essays.
Thank you M!
0 -
Now you've started something, he said, why can't I be more like Bobo, she understands! Ha!
I know exactly what you mean, but I will have to search. I haven't seen any sweaters in cotton like that, I would have bought one myself! Do you want fine soft cotton or a thicker knit?
0 -
Poor Colin. *rubs his achy head* Hope you feel better!!Can't wait to see the magic of this sweater. I love hoodies,,, we've a couple of days with lows in the 60's!! I'm so excited!! Now if I can just get rid of my stomach before it's really time to wear jeans. *do not want to buy new ones*
3 hour labor,, wow!!! Baby sniffing soon.
Back from potluck dinner. Salmon and rainbow trout, asparagus, green beans, sweet potatoes (me) lovely challah from the Flower Pot Bakery (Bobo knows?) and then blueberry cobbler with ice cream for dessert. Yummy food and lovely company.
