OMG, Bobo that's the day before my birthday, so I won't forget that! Great news!

It is so hot this morning, I can't believe it, looks like the fires have started elsewhere in the state. I doubt we will be leaving the house today. M x

Good news Bobo! Finally you'll have someone top of the line working on you.

Ariom, That heat just sounds awful. I start melting at about 95F. Houston has weeks where the temp is 95F and the humidity is 97% and it's just awful. Still think DH was terrible not to take me to an air conditioned hotel with a pool. I hope the fires aren't too bad. Ours were bad last summer.

I too can't stand the hot and humid, mostly because my feet swell up into balloons. I don't think I'd survive an Aussie summer... perfect weather for me is 70-80 degrees during the day with no wind and then dropping to 40-50 at night :) I love cold nights because I love nothing better than snuggling up in a blanket on the sofa watching tv or reading;.. and it can't be cold enough for me to sleep.... love hoping in a warm bed when it's cold out.

Quick nephew update! It was pretty great, although my brother did his best to make it uncomfortable and confusing. He called four times on way over, said they might spend the night now after he'd said no, said he would decide later, etc. But anyway both nephews did not spend the night. Littler nephew is very delicate, wanted to be home, and he's been through the ringer with divorce and two houses thing. Bigger nephew has allergies to cat, then also missed his dad too. So my brother and the cougar came and got them. They were obviously fresh from doing it and super late to pick them up. The cougar's mouth was running a mile a minute, but I was pretty chilly to her. I'm over the cougar at the moment, because she double-dealt with my brother over this whole party thing.

Littler nephew had a blast -- they are of the age in which they all went into one bedroom, with w boy's little radio, turned on the music of today and did some dancing! It was pretty adorable. Bigger nephew played with me and bobo! He loves bobo. We played 'Where's your Rudolph?' for nearly two hours straight. Bobo played so hard until he had to turn away, suck his Rudolf, and pray for people to leave him alone so he could go immediately to sleep! Then the cougar came and he went bananas and peed on her feet. He got second wind.

Bigger nephew was due on my own birthday -- ex-SIL induced on June 1st, no med reason, I always thought it was because I was so excited we would share a birthday! Anyway, it's like looking in a mirror. DLLP says so too. We have the same 'railroad apartment head' (a long head that goes straight back, like looking at an oval from aerial view), and we have the same exact hands and feet! I held out my hand with him, and we held our our feet, and just looked at them. And my nephew remarked that he doesn't have the same feet as his dad's, but instead have feet that look like mine, except that his have dirty toenails! They are just so special and sweet. But I'm not going to get to see them much. It's very difficult.

bahahah Bobo peed on the cougar's feet, what was that about, I wonder. How did she take it? So you're not so happy with the cougar Bobo, sounds like she needs some sorting out, why don't you invite her to lunch, alone? Wouldn't ypu think while they are in the Honeymoon phase, they'd be happy for the boys to go to you so they can get into it, whenever they want?

Oooh, Wrenn, I hate the humidity too. We just got news this morning that Colin's oldest friend has been fighting fires all night. They have a farm in the Adelaide Hills and were surrounded on 3 sides. It is going to be a terrible summer. M x

WTF? 'railroad apartment head'?? Bobo has jumped off the cliff and damaged part of her oval looking down from an aerial view head. I thought, well.. hey, I know Bobo uses words I have never heard of...and maybe she has read this phrase in a book or something..so I googled it. Don't do it. DON'T DO IT! You have been warned. lol

M - You've had such hot weather. We are about to go into the single digits here. Can you send some of that heat our way? Hope the fires are brought under control. That must be so scary.. can't imagine.

Need to think of something to do for daughter's 13th birthday in 2 weeks. I swear I'll blink and it will be here.

M hope your friend is ok.

Going from 54 to 19 today. Not going to help the cough and congestion but looking forward to a good freeze. Hopefully will get Sasafire a nice long walk before the wind hits at lunch.

HOME!   OMG,,, what a trip.   My flight got cancelled!  Was told that there was no room until tomorrow morning's flight!!  Unacceptable.  Routed to Jacksonville.  Rented car with 2 guys in line behind me,, but one was a student,, too young for rental cars, and the other told me he takes Xanax for flying,,, so I drove back. At least I had 2 people to split the cost with.  And, no, the airline was not interested in doing anything for a plane full of people.   My wonderful friends picked up Ava for me so I didn't have to do that,, and then picked me up at the airport here after I turned in the car.

I am pooped,,, but I unpacked and laundry is started. There will be pizza delivery for dinner. Ava is pooped too. she is always tired when she gets back from the kennel. Still limping. They think it is not as bad.  Will see.

Welcome home! Z, cannot believe the cold. M, how are the fires?

PRB, you are making me laugh. How is it that 'railroad apartment head' is something nasty? I totally made that phrase up. A railroad apartment is an actual thing, it is an apartment in which all the rooms are lined up, one behind the other, and the apartment goes straight back. That's how my head is shaped.

I am already ready to be worried about the princess' birthday in February. I know just how that feels! XXX

Wanna hear a "cold" story? Well here in the frozen tundra yesterday afternoon about 3 our furnace decided to quit working, temp was -23 with a wind chill of -54!! put in a call to furnace repair man, no answer, left message, no call back until today at noon and he was here about 2pm. Thank God for electric fireplace, electric baseboard heater and a few infared heaters. Our house never got below 74 degrees but that is some nasty cold temps. Didnt get much of a storm or much snow but hell of a time for furnace to quit. It is pretty old so he replaced a part for now and is putting in a new one soon... goodbye two grand!!!

Welcome home Glennie, what a way to end trip... seems like airlines are getting worse and worse.

    Hi to all.

Morning all! OMG Glennie, what a shitful way to finish a holiday! What do you mean they did nothing, for a plane full of people? Wow!

Haven't heard anything else about the fires yet, the roads are supposed to be open today, but still not sure.

Bobo, why would you be ready to be worried about the Princess's birthday? Is there a problem? I love kids birthdays, wish I was there.

PRB, I would love to send some of this heat to you. How exciting a 13th birthday party! What are you planning?

Bec and I watched the worst movie in the history of the world last night, called Arachnaquake, OMG we peed ourselves laughing, especially since Edward Furlong was in it and he was Bec's big crush, when she was a kid and loved him in Terminator. Unfortunately Eddie hasn't fared well and well, the spiders in this movie were probably, the worst props you could ever see. We laughed so hard we were crying!

Don't know what we will do today, toying about going to Lakes Entrance tomorrow for lunch. The weather has changed a bit and it isn't too hot till later in the week.

I have my 2 year check with my surgeon on Friday, so we will be going to Sale, which is just over an hour from here. There is good shopping there, it's Mall where I made Colin stop on our way home, after my Mx so I could buy new shoes! LOL

    Waving to everyone...M x

OMG you guys in Florida with your apartment heads and shotgun houses. Next thing ya know you'll be telling me that a palmetto bug is not a cockroach and Casey Anthony was not guilty.

The temperature is diving and I can feel the house getting cold. They say the windchill will hit -18 tonight. Still very little snow so I'm ok with it as long as the pipes don't freeze. We had 2 inches of slush yesterday and I got that off the driveway before it became the ice that never melts for 2 months. I don't want to fall again this year.

Glennie.. how far did you drive? At least you had company to help with the navigation... and you're already unpacked and laundry going? Impressive to say the least. I bet Ava was happy to see you.

Yes, the birthday is 2 weeks away and I am starting to stress. House is too small for a party. Oh who am I kidding? If the downstairs was cleaned out, there would be room and the girls could sleep down there. I need DP to come and organize! For those of you with grown children, how did you come to terms with giving away their childhood? That's where I am ... I can't really justify the big dollhouse now that she's 13 or the play kitchen, or the million other kid things...but for some reason I can't seem to part with it all. Silly I know. Embarrassing even. Still undecided about the birthday. Thought about a ski weekend with a few of her friends, but I know her... and she won't want to choose only 3 and hurt others feelings.

As for smoking.. I smoked eons ago and quit after a very bad cold. Think it's been 25 years or more and now I am one of those people who hates the smell of smoke. Love pipe tobacco though..and wouldn't mind burning some like incense.

popping in here because I've bored myself over there. Arrachnaquake? Beahahaha. That's great. Did anyone watch sharknado 2 this summer? Crazy ass stuff. How old must Eddie be now m? Little teen bec and I would have been such great friends. And with m around, I likely would have somehow just move in with you

PRB I have no kids obviously but am a big sentimental person. Take photos of those items. Write little stories to go with them and make a scrapbook. If your not crafty or don't have the time, type the stories up and let snapfish make it for you. It's small, will last forever, and will become it's own special item for you and her to reminisce through later. As the items continue to grow and go, you can add more volumes. Just a thought. Ok I'm outa here.

I think Colin watched Sharknado and I saw a teaser for Ghost Shark today, how do they think these ones up?

Eddie was born in August '77, Bec in Jan '78 so same age, but he has not aged very well. The only other movie crush Bec had was Leo Dicaprio in Titanic, oh maybe Atreyo in Neverending Story! I can't tell you how many times we had to sit through those movies.

I bet you and Bec would get on well, you'd have a lot of music in common too.

PRB:  a palmetto bug is a cockroach and Casey Anthony was definitely guilty (in my opinion)  When is DD's Birthday?  Mine is the 19th.  I love finding people who are my birthday twins!  Agree with DP!  Take photos, write captions. Sounds perfect. My Mom made scrapbooks and kept report cards and other little things in there.  We are a sentimental family.  I have my Grandma's old desk and it is cherished. She kept all the postcards that I mailed her from my travels and I found them after she died. So I still have them. She was the one person that I faithfully wrote to, cuz I knew how she loved to get the postcards.  (the 80's,,, no cell phones or computers!)

It's about 80 miles from Jax airport to here. It was good to have people to talk to for the drive. We all have/had dogs so that was a good part of the conversation. One guy was 30 and the other was a grad student, so I'm much older! We definitely do not have music in common! LOL!

Hi Z!  Of course they sleep late on school day!  Hope you got them up and going without too much difficulty.

Back to school/work for everyone who was off for the holidays. I gotta get some groceries in this place!

Good morning, good evening to M. Happy back to school day, it isn't just the kids who want to sleep in on days when they can't, I'm the same way too.

The OG and I ran away from home on New Years day, came back last night, a wonderful little cabin in the mountains with a fireplace by a river which became a raging river since it rained the entire time we were there. It was nice to have down time I needed it.

I think the oncologist has implanted some kind of spying device in my body. Out of frustration I burned a whole bottle of F-ING Femara in the fireplace the first night we were away, came home last night to 2 messages from his office telling me I must call and make an appointment today. How ironic.

Time to feed the furbabies, start laundry, go check on my girls they both came down with the crud. Then begin the task I hate most, taking down Christmas decorations. Hugs

Of course she had a Leo crush too. That's just wha we did. I was born in 1980 so I'm right in line with her.
